Have everybody received the 3.2 update for 8,9 7300? - Galaxy Tab 8.9 General

I have 8.9 7300 KI3 KHC KI4.
Kies says there is not new rom but looks everybody have received.
The screen of Kies about firmware update shows no address where to download hipothetical update, is it the same for you? Tools, adjusts for the firmware update, configuration of the automatic firmware update.
Maybe my Kies has bad configuration, I have read post about troubles with it.
What says yours, if you have received the update?
Thanks.

i dont have any update! still on 3.1.
mine is neverlocked, and not branded. i know that only some operators recived the update.

I think the updates are region based and so it depends on the version installed on your tablet; my Hong Kong tablet received the update to 3.2 in the last week.

do you have that auto rotation lag?

There does appear to be a delay when rotating but I stopped animations at the same time so I don't have a direct comparison; I'll switch on the animations to double check. Otherwise I don't see any difference in performance in other areas.

I have update. Zero problems.

Can you please post more information about the update you received?
Build number?
Baseband version?
Also look in the following files and post what is there (no root required, only file explorer):
system\CSCVersion.txt: ?
system\csc\customer.xml only one line: <SalesCode>?</SalesCode>

Does the update fix the ****ty looking dirty white of the display, (compared to the 10.1)? Does it fix the fact that I can connect to my cellphone hot-spot, but not actually use it- no data transferred? My 10.1 works fine. Thinking of returning the 8.9 for these reasons, but I love the size and want to make this right. Thanks

RE: rotation lag - after more testing this does appear to be worse with 3.2.

I don't have any issues with the display; do you have 1 of the 2 settings to adjust brightness switched on?
I've also not has any issues tethering (Wi-Fi and Bluetooth) to a mobile phone; is the connection set to share on your phone? Have you tried using bluetooth?

Interesting.... I have Brightness at full power and Auto Brightness turned off, and no Power Saving going on. Is there anything else?
I'm using Wi-Fi tethering, not BT. Like I said, I'm able to tether from my Tab 10.1. I'm pretty knowledgeable about this stuff, so all the obvious is out. I went to BB and tried their demo unit and had the same issue with the white being "dirty" - it's not a major thing - until you compare it to the 10.1, which is light-years cleaner and clearer and brighter. I thought I did check the tethering from the 8.9 at BB and that it worked, but I don't remember.
This thing is going back unless I can figure these two things out. I hate to do it. I really hope the bright white-ness can be adjusted. Also, are you on 3.2? That could be why your tethering works and mine doesn't...

While you called the display of the 8.9 dirty, I find the 10.1 display overly bluish and while it may attract the eyes somewhat it is far from being the correct color. If you have a calibrated image, you will see that the 10.1 tends to be very vivid but gears towards blue. I find that the 8.9 much more pleasing to the eyes.
I have no problem tethering to my HTC hotspots at all though.

I tend to disagree - I like the blue-ish cast, as you call it. On mine it seems more pure white and makes the colors pop. I tried the Movie mode on my 10.1 and got a similar look as the 8.9 OOTB. I haven't tried any other Mode on the 8.9, as I don't have it handy right now, (but dying to get to it to try it). I really hope changing its mode makes the whites brighter - or blue-r, if you like.
I put the same picture on both screens side by side, and trust me, the 10.1 is MUCH better looking. I don't like the yellow-ish cast of the 8.9 OOTB, (out of the box).
Thanks for your reply. Good to know that HTC tethering is working. I assume you are rooted and using something like Open Garden, right... (what are you using, if not?).

The newer design diplays that they started using in October are much truer in color and also have better contrast. The Wi-Fi Tab I got in August had a blueish cast while the 3G I got last month doesn't.

Frustrating wi-fi reliability issues

My Droid 4 seems to have issues maintaining a wi-fi connection to some networks.
At home, it will connect and work for a while, but eventually stop passing data. It will still show connected, though. It will stay in this state until I turn wi-fi off and back on again.
At work, it often has issues connecting and will show "authentication problem" even though the credentials are correct. With enough trying, it will eventually connect, but won't stay connected.
iPhone, iPads, PCs, Macs and other types of Android phones work OK on these networks.
My old Droid 3 had the same issue.
On some other wi-fi networks, it seems OK.
What gives?
I'm currently a recent build of CM9, but it did the same when it was stock 2.3.6.

Ugh, me too and it was driving me absolutely crazy. I'm on AOKP now (think the build from a few days ago) and it (WiFi) works perfectly now. I know this, because mobile data keeps dropping (argh) but I'm still getting e-mail, etc (but I can't send MMS at least).
Most days I am in solid WiFi coverage, so I am dealing with dodgy mobile data in exchange for stable WiFi. Anybody know if eclipse fixes this issue?
Edit: I'm glad you made this post so I know I am not crazy. Part of the changelog for the 219 update was a WiFi fix, and I was very disappointed when it didn't seem to help...

I've been on Eclipse since it was first ported and I have never had any data issues on 4G/3G or wifi. But I've only connected to 2 or 3 wifi networks so I could just be lucky there. 4G/3G connectivity is perfect.

Yea, I really do have to check Eclipse out. The only thing holding me back is that I'm getting (what I consider) stupid-good battery life with AOKP. Plus, I just did a factory reset on ICS to fix notifications, which means I just set everything back up
Have you spent any time on Wifi using the stock ROM? I'm lucky to get half an hour of Wifi connectivity before it just dies (but still pretends to be connected). No problem with wireless tethering (AOKP or stock). Sometimes I am convinced they don't actually test these things before pushing them out...

I never had any problem with stock either. I would run it on wifi all day at home on a Saturday and never had any drops. I just set up a new router last running dd-wrt so we will see how that goes.
You should definitely check out Eclipse. You lose a few of the ICS goodies but it's totally worth it in my opinion not to have to worry about data dropping out. Battery life has been phenomenal for me on Eclipse. I've been getting through a whole day with 40% - 50% battery left when I finally plug it in a night.
Just backup up your current ROM in safestrap that way, if you don't like Eclipse, you can just restore your backup and your back on AOKP with everything just as you left it!
I've used AOKP for over a week and I don't recall having wifi issues. Which build were you on? I used nightly 29/4. Now I'm back to stock because of BT and Camera. Other than that I had no issues.

I haven't really tweaked it or anything. No undervolting/underclocking or anything like that. I have the 4G toggle installed and switch 4G off when I'm sitting at my desk at work and I'm connected to wifi when I get home in the evening. I don't do anything special other than that. I am still running version 1.3.7 as a couple of people have reported that 1.3.8 broke auto capitalization and not having that would drive me nuts.
Guess I wasn't clear enough. Both on AOKP 29/4 and stock 219 I encountered no WiFi issues. And I use it a lot. I have to because when I switch to 3G for faster internet I loose audio (GSM 3G not working yet). So what I mean to say is, not sure what your problem with WiFi is or where it's coming from. I ran AOKP for at least a week. And I've been running 219 since I got my phone (except for that specific week that is). Not once has WiFi stopped working or glitched for that matter.

[Q] No 3g with CM 10.1 plus some other less severe issues

Greetings,
Just a few days ago I installed the most recent CM 10.1 nightly, first 20130319 and now updated to 20130323. For the most part, my phone is working well, but I do not have any 3g data service nor have I had it since installing CM 10.1.
I have a Droid 3 XT862 being used in the US on Verizon's CDMA network and placing and receiving calls works. I *can* send and receive SMS as well, although in a test I did toay I sent very short 25 character text from my Droid 3 on the Verizon network to another Android device on the Sprint network and it arrived a mere 2h15m later.
I have read many messages on this forum and others, but either the problem addressed is too far removed or the ideas/changes suggested are offered with little explantion as to why, so I am unsure if making any of these changes would be a good idea. I did read through the build.prop on my device and it certainly appears that it is more or less configured and ready for CDMA usage. I have performed a *228 PRL update, but it did not appear to help. CM 10.1 makes available, unlike the stock ROM, a menu/page full of mobile network settings. I have tried to work with some of these settings, toggles, preferred network types, and so on, but again none of these changes seems to have had an effect on my 3g data connection.
Am I doing something wrong? Does anybody know how to fix this? Or perhaps it is a new/temporary bug in CM 10.1?
As for the operation of everything else under CM 10.1, I like it very much. It is a very big step up from before, when I was first using stock Android 2.3.4 followed by the Maverick ROM, which, while better, sure liked to crash/reboot when under memory pressure. I do have a few issues that I hope others might be able to help with:
* The hardware keyboard's ALT key does not appear to work anymore which rules out half the symbols on the keyboard, making it far less useful. I also cannot use it any longer with VX ConnectBot as some of the mappings do not seem to work. For example, the "OK" key used to work as a CTRL key. Maybe these are related? Any idea how to fix this?
* The backlight on the hard buttons and on the keyboard was, previously, triggered by a light sensor (I think). Now the backlight comes on when there is any tapping, swiping, or button/key activity. That's fine, except that the timeout for the light is extremely short, on the order of about two seconds. In a dark environment, this can be annoying.
* It's slow... my god is it slow! I think this is due almost entirely to a severe lack of free RAM on the device, but I don't know what to do about it. Some programs, like GMail, take forever to start, while many others are just very slow to use/respond. I see the "Not Responding" popup appear *much* more than ever before, but, as I know these apps are just slow and not dead, I always just tap on "wait" and go on with what I was doing.
I really don't think I have that much running in the background or foreground to use all of this RAM. I have replaced Trebuchet with NemusLauncher in hopes of freeing some memory. I have three widgets only: a clock/weather widget, the standard calendar widget, and the Google Voice inbox widget. In the background, besides whatever Android and CM run, I have Google Voice and imo (the instant messanger) running. I believe that is it. Is there *anything* I can do to improve the speed issue? I understand how Android handles memory, so it is clearly not about just increasing the "free RAM" value. That said, however, it seems that if there were fewer apps trying to use the limited memory then this would naturally be higher to begin with.
I have a decent collection of apps, but the number is much smaller than in the past and most all of them should remain dormant unless I actually run them... or so I believe.
Okay, so those are the issues. I could add battery life and the camera to that list, but I have read on the forum that, no thanks to Motorola, the camera is unlikely to be available anytime soon, and I have also read that the battery issues should be resolved soon.
So, um... please help! And great many thanks to all of the hard working devs who bring us better software and especially to those who help those of us with devices that are practically *new* and yet abandoned by the carriers. Extra kudos to those finding ways to work around locked bootloaders and proprietary binary blobs.

Can you force it to EVDO only? And what happens in a stock ROM?
In the mobile network settings page, as mentioned above, I can, and have, tried many of the options. Among them is the preferred network type.
It defaults to 'global' which actually sets it to LTE/CDMA, though this is not an LTE device. I have tried all of the options that make sense (i.e. nothing GSM related). I have tried Evdo-only and currently have it set to 'CDMA/Evdo auto'.
None of these settings has changed anything. To test, I disable WiFi and see if I have a Net connection.
With the stock ROM, as well as the Maverick ROM, when I have 3g, the letters '3g' appear in the status bar next to the mobile signal strength icon and there are two small arrows to indicate I/O. This is what I expected to happen with CM.
-Sent from my XT862 using xda app-developers app
I have a 3g update, but no solution yet.
In the mobile net settings page I have the network set to 'CDMA/EvDo auto'. Then I turn on airplane mode to force the radio off, then turn airplane mode back off.
The radio comes back and as it does I can see the network strength icon briefly add an R, presumably meaning reconnecting, followed by a 1x, and finally by a 3g. Then the 3g disappears. This entire sequence takes only about 3 to 5 seconds. If I do this while viewing Settings->About->Phone, I can see the current radio/network states change. Of course, I do all of this with my local wifi connection off.
Also, I did try a network type of 'EvDo only' and the above sequence still occurred but without the 1x step. However, this sequence didn't seem to occur as reliably as when the network is set to 'CDMA/EvDo auto'. For reference, the phone info page under settings indicates that this phone or network is 'CDMA - EvDo rev. A:6'.
So, it would seem 3g is at least possible, if fleeting. What should I do now? I really don't want to stop using CM 10.1.
--John Gruenenfelder
Same issue here. No 3g. In the system status, it will briefly show the mobile network status as "connecting" then drop back to disconnected.

Me or rocksolid99?
In my case, I, well, did not follow the correct Safestrap update procedure when I went from 1.x to 3.05. As such, I *think* my stock ROM may be slightly hosed. I *do* have a complete backup of the original stock that I created with Safestrap 1.x, but 3.05 does not "see" it when I tap on the "Restore" button in recovery. So, I have it, I'm just not sure what I should do if I really need to restore that backup.
However, I have installed the Minimoto 1.7 ROM into slot 2 in Safestrap 3.05 and if I use that ROM (which is a super stripped down Droid 3 stock) then 3g works just fine. I did not have any network/connection issues and did not need to take any extra steps to get 3g to work.

Really? Good to know. Thanks for the info.
If I might reiterate on my other CM 10.1 problem, they keyboard? Right now, the ALT key does not work which means that I cannot access most of the punctuation keys. Strangely, in many apps when I press ALT I will see the cursor change with the upside down triangle at the top of the cursor bar indicating that ALT has been pressed. Good, but if I press any other key it is not recognized. It is as though I had not pressed anything. The ALT indicator doesn't even change or go away. The only thing I can do is continue to press the ALT key to cycle through its states (off, one-key, locked). Could this also be a bug in CM 10.1?
Is there a better or more correct location to submit these issues? Since these issues are/may be bugs in CM 10.1, should I not submit a bug report directly?
Beyond the 3g/data and keyboard issue is the RAM usage. It uses a *lot* of RAM. Is this just the way it is? The Droid 3 lacks enough RAM to really make a serious go at Android 4.2?
Thanks again!

When Motorola hinted that this was the reason why the D3 and X2 would not get ICS, nobody believed them.
I think it's pretty clear that CM on the Droid 3 at the moment is alpha/beta status. If you want stability and full features, you need a Gingerbread ROM. Minimoto is best for me.

+1 anything above gingerbread is not stable. Some people manage to use them for daily drivers but they have to deal with the bugs. Myself, I need a camera and I need my phone to work all day, I use it for my job. As such, I run minimoto, as it is quite stable, and any bugs that do arise can be dealt with as it's based on gingerbread, which is stable on our devices. Liberty is also a good rom to use, it's based on an older system version but it's quite stable and has lots of features, as opposed to Minimotos minimalist goal.

[Q] Cm 10.2.1 And A Linksys EA4500

Updating from CM9, I notice that the phone now loses it's authentication with the router multiple times in one day. That is, the icon changes from blue to white, and no data can pass through. It is necessary to turn wi-fi off and then back on to restore the connection.
On the premises, we also have a Motorola G, Nexus 7, Samsung Galaxy Nexus and a Nexus One. All but the GNex have no problems with this router. The GNex is still stock, so it would appear to have something to do with these older Samsung phones running 4.3. Searching Google, someone suggested forcing the phone to use the 2.4 band, and doing so with the GNex doesn't completely fix it, but it does happen less often. However, I can't find a "wi - fi frequency band" setting in CM.
So, does anyone have any idea what's going on? And is there a way to force the Captivate to use the 2.4 band?
Thanks much

Before, while running CM9, the phone would remain properly connected to the router indefinitely. This problem of losing authentication did not occur until after upgrading the Captivate to CM10.2.1

If forgetting and re-entering the network doesn't work, try another kernel (make sure it's compatible).

Just look in the Dev section and use one that matches your version (4.1, 4.2, etc).
NeatKernel seems to be popular around here.
Installed NeatKernal today so will see how it goes.
Thanks much for your help!
Installing NeatKernal didn't solve the problem, so decided to try the most recent CM 11 nightly....
After installing CM 11, the router and the phone still do not play nicely together. I contacted Linksys about this issue quite some time ago, but never received a response, so it is beginning to appear that the best solution is to simply replace the router. However, the Captivate is just a spare phone to play with, so it's not worth the extra expense and time, so will probably leave things as they are...
Cheers

WiFi stops working

I noticed that WiFi stops working on my new G4 pretty often. The WiFi icon is on, and the connection is "up", but the data transmission stops working. I see the top arrow blink (is that transmit?) but the bottom arrow doesn't come up anymore. Trying to do anything fails and times out.
To fix, turning the WiFi off and back on makes it all work again.
Anyone else experience this problem? I know @jonathan3579 reports the same issue.
I am connected to 5 Ghz using an Asus RT-N66 running Merlin firmware. I have no issues with any of my other devices.
Using the "Switch to mobile data" option helps a bit by falling back on LTE when the WiFi stops working.

I'm having the same issue at home. I could be watching a video and suddenly stops. I don't know if it has to do something with root. I noticed it starts happening yesterday. I never had this issue and I got this phone sine 5/27 when it was released. I'll do a factory reset.

I'm not rooted and mine has done it ever since I got it (and did a factory reset before setting it up). I doubt resetting yours will fix your problem.

Are you having this issue everywhere you go or just one specific place?
I had not noticed it at work, but I only got on the WiFi yesterday for a little bit. This morning it failed on me, so, that's two for two. Haven't used it in many places.
The hotspot works great though. I tether an iPod Touch in my car automatically whenever I drive and I haven't noticed any issues there.

I'm at work and I have been watching multiples videos and no issue at all.
I just noticed this today happening to me too. =(.
Pretty great phone otherwise! Also connected 5ghz to a RT-AC68U (the T-Mobile cellspot), flashed with an older Merlin firmware.
Had to reboot to get it to behave again.
Me too
I've been having this issue too. I've noticed that I lose data and WiFi calling simultaneously. I thought it was my router because we were having issues with the router dropping phones and laptop, but now with a new router it is only my phone that is having a problem.

Running DNSet has definitely helped with keeping the data flowing, and I appreciate that.
WiFi calling is still dropping. When I look in the settings it says "enabling" and just hangs.
What internet provider do you have I'm assuming Comcast

This issue appears to be due to the 5ghz radio. I am not sure if it is software or hardware, but if you connect to the 2.4ghz band, the issue will go away.
Its most likely a issue with lollipop

Lollipop on the G4 maybe, but I have used a Nexus 6, a Moto X and a Dell Venue 7840, all running Lollipop, without issues. The G4 is the only one that has this issue. I never tested my old G3 on this network with Lollipop, I sold it before the update rolled out.
Problem fixed?

I switched to 2.4 ghz and WiFi calling appears to be staying connected. My provider is Oceanic Time Warner and my router is T-Mobile cell spot.
Fingers crossed and thanks for all the help.
Did these wifi problems start after root?
Mine were happening before root, I think. I switched to T-Mobile cell spot router right before I rooted because my old router was regularly dropping connections, and I have been paying attention more since I rooted. I am also caring for 11 month old twins, so things are kind of a blur. What I am saying is I might not be the most reliable source. I can say that switching from 5ghz to 2.4ghz seems to have solved my WiFi issue.

S5 Active - apps slow on WiFi

Hi. I have a new stock (not rooted) AT&T G870A running 5.1.1 with OJ3 baseband. I've noticed 2 apps, Instagram and Followers+ run very slow when the phone is connected to WiFi. If I turn off WiFi, they work fine. But as this phone is from my job, switching to cellular data for these 2 apps isn't really an option (nor is rooting it). Anybody run into anything similar (and fixed it)?
TIA,
-Jerry
PS... and like my Sprint S4 before this, it's rockin' a really sweet wallpaper from @rwilco12 pro wallpaper app... (shameless plug for forum mod... )

No problem and my pleasure! Thanks for all the great wallpapers! :good::good:
Found an answer....
After lots of Googling/reading, I found many dead ends. One of them said to disable IPV6 on your router. Didn't try it as the problem happened at home and at work. Then, the other day, things started working properly at my job. OK, maybe it is the network... When I got home, I disabled IPV6 on my internal router, and voila! Problem solved!
HTH,
-Jerry
