[Q] HTC Sensation XL running Windows Phone 7 - HTC Sensation XL

Hi.
I got a HTC Sensation XL and i would like the run WP7 on my device. I don't know if it's capable of run it but this it's a kind of a "challenge" to the xda community.
Not only are helping me, you are helping other people/users.
This phone can be the next HD2 but bigger and better.
If you think that the phone can run Windows Phone 7, then comment here or create a custom rom.
Thank you for the support!

I highly doubt this will ever happen, and if it does, I can't see it happening for a long time.
Check out the HTC Titan if you haven't already. It's very similar to the XL and is running WP7.
Hope that helped

Why did you get an android device if you want to run windows phone 7???
Sent from my HTC Sensation XE Z715e using xda premium

I want to try without buying a WP7 phone.
However, this may be the "new HD2"
See this comparison:
According with GSMARENA:
Nokia Lumia 800 vs HTC Sensation XL Hardware
Nokia:
3,7 display; 480x800
16GB intrenal memory
512MB of RAM
MSM8255 Chipset
1,4 Single Core CPU
Adreno 205 GPU
HTC:
4,7 display; 480x800
16GB internal memory
768MB of RAM
MSM8255 Chipset
1,5 Single Core CPu
Adreno 205 GPU

The "new" HD2 allready excist as HTC Titan.
The XL is Titan with Android...
Get Titan...

Just to make it very hard to achieve? Buy a cheap WM7 phone maybe, to see if you like?

If you wanted wp7 , you should have just got the titan.
It is exactly the same specs as xl, but with wp7 os.

"If you wanted an android phone, why did you bought a HTC HD2?" Yeah right
I get your point, Titan and XL are similar in terms of hardware, the issue here is that XL is not a flagship phone and the dev community is (and will be) too small for such endeavor.
I would loose my hope if I were you.

I think its because HTC sensation XL runs android which is an open source while WP7 is not. If you have Windows phone like HD2, you can run android and any open source OS cause there will be no copyright infringement.

HTC announced this in Chinese language. I guess a English source will be found in next couple of days.
few extra:
HTC also said the most of the developing time will be spent on building the sense UI into new system. The newer devices retail later than 2011 MAY will get the update sooner than the older device like DHD. And some devices like HTC Amaze 4G,Thunderbolt, will get the update in much later time. (i think they mean more than 4 months)
This is a direct translation, sry for my baaaad english. i dont remember IS came out before or after MAY 2011?

Dude, ICS is optimized for multi-core phones because Gingerbread or Froyo do not use more than one core. There are certain apps and games out there that use all cores but that's another story.

There is no question that ICS will be on the Incredible S in one form or another (CM9 or AOSP) soon after the AOSP source is made available. The topic of this post is whether we will see an 'official' ICS version with Sense from HTC.

no date mate as far as I know... I think even htc don't know when they are going to release it haha I asked them by email last week and the answer was ''should be coming this month'' but as we know for htc ''this month'' means end of the month if not next month or next year really fed up of waiting and checking for this update which is going to be not a big deal anyway. We will only get sense 3.6 and some graphical changes.....everybody who had the normal sensation and sensation xe was so exited to get it and after the update so many people said that they are disappointed....anyway it will be coming soon I hope
Even the Sony and SGS 2 are getting it now.....really i think that will be my last HTC.....empty promises, bad new flagman's ....

No one said you was lying mate. All i said was i doubt HTC could squeeze ICS and sence 3.6 into 196mb when gingerbread and Sence 3.5 is 450mb+
don't know how did you get the update mate.I just had a email from htc and they told me that ICS is going to start rolling on the end of april and they roll it on batches so is going to take a bit of time untill everyone get it
Can't be true, I am on some spanish forums and nobody has it. Do a print screen or video of the phone menus.

i need an advice :)

planed for september but what should i buy : s3 or one x ???? thanks
If you look at the specs, the htc one x has a nvidia processor, wich seems better than the quallcom, but I should go for the s3, easier with rooting and flashing !

I've seen the S3 in action and you'll love the thiness of the best device around!!!
Touchwiz looks awesome (yes better than usual) but sense still destroys it.
Also the features on the s3 like s-voice, s-suggest and the feature to take a screenshot by swiping your hand across the screen, etc are pretty amazing. It also has so many people dedicated to supporting it (rooting, flashing, etc). And gaming is great due to the quad-core mali-400 gpu.
Also the phone is smooth even with a low amount of RAM available.
SO theres my opinions hope you dont regret the choice you make.
-Regards Famzz
Thanks ... now I have a i9000 and I think I'll get my s3 because it is easier to root and setup as you said !!! thanks again
Yeah, as a wanna be dev, I will never support HTC until they stop locking boot loaders and locking nand. Stick with sammy, they like their dev community

I agreed,I like to flash different Rom to find out different.
So I prefer Samsung, for me maybe I will buy SGS2 32g this year.
Id say S3 because easier to root and i think mor devs will be working on it compared to HTC
I've had both. S3. I sold my One X for the S3.

[Q] One VX just announced - Potential for a Sense 4 port?

I was just reading through the One VX announcement and I was wondering if it offered any hope for a Sense 4 and possibly a future Jelly Bean port for the Vivid? I know that Sense 4 was stalled because of the RIL problems. Is this hardware similar enough to the Vivid to give us some hope?

Darn. I saw the VX was a dual core Qualcomm processor with LTE and a qHD resolution screen.I was hoping that might be similar enough to help out.

Well, many of the early Sense 4 ports for the Sensation line were based off of the Ville RUU.

There was only 1, that was never fully working. The VilleC/C2 is the Asian version of the One S that they were releasing with the Snapdragon S3 (like ours). A Sense 4 port from that specific Ville may work out better, but the rest of the One line (XL (Evita), V (Primo), S (Ville), and the new VX) all has Snapdragon S4's, with different GPUs then our device. The International One X (Endeavor) has a quad core Tegra 3, looks like the new One X+ does as well. The ATT Version of the X+ is getting a Tegra 3 chipset as well, so it must be a new chipset with LTE

Welcome Fellow Desire C users

Hi and welcome
Any users that wanna say hi, introduce yourself and give a little history of devices/experience etc your more than welcome.
This forum has been long over due, maybe we can attract some new devs now and get some more development going
big thanks to everyone who made this forum possible:thumbup:
Came from the wildfire s, great little phone had s-off which was cool, some great devs and roms etc.
Got the desire c not long after release, one for my son, one for my woman and one for myself.
Great little phone, good price sim free unbranded, does all I want it to
Last week got my upgrade from tmobile uk, they gave me a oneX with an amazing deal, as I wanted to leave and they wanted me to stay
Some cyanogenmod development would take the desire c to another level
Your a lucky guy, I dream I got one not long ago.
Everybody, if you have the choise buy this phone. It's just amazing Only the screen is a little bit small, but it's a cool phone. My first HTC and I won't buy other phones now, only HTC
My phone history is somewhat... erm.. erratic... Love cracking Phones open and have begun writing guides on how to do things... but been an android fanatic for almost 3 years
Had the following;
SE Xperia x10
HTC Desire HD,
HTC Sensation x 2
Samsung Galaxy SII x 2
SE Xperia Play
HTC Evo 3D
Samsung Galaxy Note x 2
Samsung Galaxy Note II x 2
HTC Desire C (Current - To Tide Me Over)
HTC One X
LG Optimus 3D
Motorola Xoom 32GB 3G
Nexus 7 16GB Wifi
HTC Flyer 32GB 3G
As you can see TONS , and ive learnt lots, however i want to start cooking Roms soon as i understand the android Eco Environment quite well
Damn mate, you could open a museum
Before my wildfire s, I was a big Nokia supporter, having nearly every model since the 3210, then symbian was sinking fast so I jumped off my 5800 and never looked back, although if they made an android device I would be tempted.
Anyway nice to have you here mate:thumbup:

This is my first android, so I won't be able to help the community much, just with issues and solutions a user can come up with.
Been looking for a cellphone upgrade for the last year or two, and I picked this phone since it resembles my old HTC size and texture.
During my teenage years got Nokia's between 3310 and 6100 (s40) to 6630 (s60), and later moved to the WM camp with the HTC Touch. Really liked the phone and thanks to xda was able to upgrade from WM6 to 6.5 that extended the life of the phone way more than I expected (5 years but this is due to other circumstances as well... also can't remember my old xda account... )
MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE !!!!
have a great holiday:beer:
Maybe Santa will bring desire c's to many more users and many more devs will flock to our forum
merry x-mas guys have a blast:highfive:
This is my first android as well. Although I've had this phone for quite a while. I've been off and on nameless and explos!on ROMs because I can't chose which one is better although I've never tryed slim sense or the famously incompleted, cm9.

My first ever android device was a htc wildfire, man was that thing bad, but i did learn alot about roms and kernels etc...
My second device was a sony ericsson xperia x8, which was a really nice phone and had alot of cool themes, roms and stuff going on.
then i got the first htc desire, which i loved because it was fast and wasn't too big and due to it basically being the same as a nexus one the development was so awesome
Now i have my desire C which is a good little, phone and as others say it does what i want it too. But however, if some cyanogenmod development on this device came along it would be so much faster and smoother than with sense for certain.
See i now no longer have this device, it was a stand in for me, but its a cute device.
Back to my trusty Note II .
Id be happy to continue trying to develop for it ha
