[Q] Data mode gets deactivated - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I am currently on XXJVT modem.
I see that data mode 2g is active and all of a sudden i see that
that Edge icon is missing from the status bar and my data mode is deactivated.
I don't get back my data connection unless i restart the phone. I will not be able to access internet until I reboot my phone.
Is there any patch or settings i need to tweak?

I am again facing this problem. All of a sudden, my GPRS/EDGE connection disconnects and does not get re-enabled until I reboot. Is there some kind of work around for this?

[Q] Edge connects on standby mode?

Hi all. just got my Galaxy S and its a great phone.
One of the annoying part is that whenever the phone goes to standby mode, it connects to Edge network (E is displayed on top). It seems like whenever WI-FI is not available it always connect to Edge network.
Can I set it to connect to Edge network or WI-FI only when there is explicit request from the user?
yes 2G and 3G works even when the phone is in power saving mode for the push emails and other data syncs
WiFi only works when the phone is awake
but there is a fix for that some where in ths forum
Go to your Wi-Fi settings, open up the Menu->Advanced. Set sleep policy to never. Then you'll always have your wi-fi and the phone shouldn't need EDGE for data, unless you moved too far away from the access point.
Install "JuiceDefender" it will turn off net access when screen is off

[Q] Mobile data connection losts in sleep mode

Hi,
i've a problem with 3g/2g mobile data connectivity: if i use a data connection switching utility, like APN on/off, Widgetsoid, Toggle Data, etc., when i switch off data connection, the small 3g icon on notification bar is visible, and i can switch on data connetion again, without problem.
But switching off data connection and let phone to go to stand-by (sleep), after a few minutes, the 3g icon disappears from notification bar, and from that point, i'm unable to switch on data connection with the switching utility anymore. The only solution is to switch Airplane Mode on and off.
On my previous phone (Samsung SGS) i haven't experienced such bug. Do you have any idea regarding this?
I've already tried more ROMs (BlazeDragon, Modaco FR19, Modaco leaked GB) and many basebands (218, 502, 622), but the issue has happend everytime.
Thanks and regards:

[Q] Unable to acquire HSDPA data connection after WiFi disconnection

My beloved N1 has recently started to develop this problem. It doesn't matter if it's on 2.3 or 4.04 ROM. After wifi connection is closed, the phone was unable to automatically switch to HSDPA data connection.
No amount of toggling 3G data or WiFi will fix this problem. I have to take the phone into airplane mode and out before I can start HSDPA data. While this problem only happens occasionally, the frequency has gradually climbed. Could this be hardware related?
try going into setting >> wireless & network >> mobile networks make sure your outside because that way it pick up the towers =) and if that doent work then try FULL WIPE & REINSTALL ROM if it continues then it might be a hardware issue then my friend your really in a pickle

Wifi connection problem

All of a sudden beginning yesterday my captivate can no longer connect to the wifi network at work. Other users can connect to the network fine and I'm able to see the network from my phone and connect to other networks just fine but when I try to connect to the work network it just shows connecting with the round circle containing 2 curved arrows and then disconnected, scanning, and connecting again.
I have stock 2.3.5 and have tried wifi fixing apps and power cycling without success... Basically I'm stuck at the point of a hard reset unless anyone has any other suggestions for why I'm unable to access one specific wifi channel all of a sudden...
Thanks!
I meet wifi problem like yours, cause of the poor network switcher. After switcher reboot, phone can connect it.
Try Airplane mode on the phone, or switching WiFi on and off. Rebooting router helps too - but probably not an option at work.
It's the router/access point. Reboot that and all is good.

Question Wifi <-> Mobile switching?

I have this strange issue that has been with me almost since the beginning. I haven't been able to trace when it happens, but it now seems almost 100% of the time.
I only have WiFi in the house (wifi6, if it matters). If I go out, I only have 4G (I left only 4G and disabled 5G). I have no data until I put the phone into airplane mode and back, or I disable and re-enable mobile data.
Same thing when I go back in the house: no data until I disable and re-enable WiFi.
I've disabled the option for 'always-on mobile data' or similar, it's quite a battery drain if there's no cell signal.
Seems like a very strange bug, I don't have this with any of my other phones.
So you have both WiFi and 4G enabled and they don't switch seamlessly?
Exactly. I always have to restart each one of them, usually by toggling airplane mode. Was wondering if anyone else ran into this issue.
Ok this really is strange. There are 2(!) different toggles to enable data switching between WiFi and 4G, but for me it works flawlessly without them! As soon as I get out of my home WiFi range, 4G kicks in, and when I get in range again, the phone connects to my WiFi...
Hi, i have this problem too but it's not always.
I have a wifi 6 router too.
I also have problems switching from wifi to 4g. Need to toggle airplane mode on/off. 5g deactivated. No wifi 6 here.
I always assumed my vpn is causing problems during the switch to 4g. But hearing others have the same problem i would assume its zenfone problem.
I never had any issues in this area with my ZF8. With the option to have cellular always on I could walk out of my WiFi zone during a video call and no drop or short pause would appear.
With this off the network need a few second to work, and some apps need to be refreshed/restarted to gain connection. Never needed to toggle connection for this to work.
Maybe a reset would be enough or check for updates.
Ah, exactly! It does not necesarily need a network restart, but some apps just lose connection for a while, which can be from a few seconds to >1h. Which is even more weird as the icons are showing full connectivity. I would go out of the house, do stuff, come back later and I would only get the notifications when I'm back inside the house.
Rarely I had the connection drop completely (no signal) when switching, but I haven't noticed this happening since the last update.
