[MOD] bLED button LED notification for Galaxy Note - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Android Development

Update 14/12/2011
Watch it in action here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OojU0REhrL0.
Update 13/12/2011
bLED kernel module updated to 0.2. Should fix the random crash occuring. Not sure how many of you guys checked the dmesg and found out plenty of stack traces on 0.1
Grab your copy bled-0.2-lkm-update.zip and flash with Clockworkmod. Leave the bled-0.1.apk installed as is, no update is available for that yet
Original post
bLED touchkey button notification for GALAXY Note, version 0.1-EA
The wait is over.
Introducing bLED, my version of blinking notification through touchkey button LEDs. It's still on its early access version 0.1, and there are still some known inconveniences or bugs. Please refer to the known problems section for more info.
After applying the patch and installing the apk, your GALAXY Note will blink any notification found on the status bar, including missed calls and (TouchWiz) SMS
This MOD has been tested on KKA kernel, but it should support all stock kernels (seems like none of custom kernels are supported). But if anything happens, you can restore with the nandroid backup of (just) your system image.
eybee1970 said:
ok, unfortunatly this Mod works with none of newer FM- and Abyss-Kernels....so we have to wait for the devs implementing stock touchkey drivers.
For all ROCKET ROM Users: of course you can switch to any CF-Root Kernel and this Mod will work - but you'll lose important init.d-tweaks if you do so, cause none of chainfires kernels support init.d-scripting

I could be wrong, it could possibly be another issue rather than stock touchkey driver.

I entered the stock touchkey drivers but bled still does not work.
At this point I do not think it's a driver issue.
And then FM 1.4 does not have the modified drivers

Prerequisites
- You'll need a clockworkmod-enabled GALAXY Note. Some advanced users can also load the kernel module by him/herselves.
Installation
0) Do nandroid backups!
Will not held responsible for bricking your phone if you don't backup first
1) Install the MOD
1.a) Download the update.zip (updated to bled-0.2-lkm-update.zip) and copy over to your SD card
1.b) Reboot in CWM to flash the update.zip. Go to "install zip from sdcard", "choose zip from sdcard", navigate and select the bled-0.2-lkm-update.zip.
1.c) Power off the phone, and start it again (obviously)
2) Install the bLED accessibility service
2.a) Go to "Settings", "Applications". Tick on "Unknown Sources" option.
2.b) Download bled-0.1.apk and install it on your phone. Don't look for it afterwards on your drawer menu as it does not contain real Activity-based application.
2.c) Go to "Settings", "Accessibility". Tick "Accessibility" and "bLED". Just ignore the warning when ticking "bLED", as I'm not interested on your personal details
Lock your phone. Have missed calls, SMSes, Whatsapp messages, GMail, whatever. They're all going to be blinked by bLED
Known issue
- Duration of blinking is currently limited to 15 minutes
- There will be several seconds of delay before it will blink sms and missed calls. It happens due to the currenlty implemented notification logic. More of a workaround instead of elegant solution. Hope will have better logic for next releases on handling them.
- There are still some mutex locking bugs on KKA kernel. Very ironic, there seems to be some struggle to support PMIC on the currently best SoC in the world, by looking at the kernel codes.
Enjoy

Well I just got the kernel module working by last night and the accessibility service earlier today. Not enough time to tell yet
Will try blinking it tonight and see how much battery it would drain
But you can always disable the bLED accessibility service when you don't need it

THANK YOU MAN !
This was such an anoying point that made me not love my Note !
Please keep developing, you are doing great work for all Note Users !
I hope MIUI and Cyanogen will make a Note-Port soon and integrate your LED Notification MOD

Which kernel and version are you using? Yes there circumstances where the mutex crashes the system. It happened once on my KKA, but never afterwards. I think I have to consider some other ways for doing semaphores for bLED

Ok the Abyss kernel had BLN mod patched on the melfas touchkey driver. You needs kernels with stock melfas touchkey driver, left intact. Seems that BLN is not functional yet on the Abyss kernel anyway? Maybe you can ask him to revert to original melfas touchkey driver from Samsung

i use this kernel

[Q] Flash to XWJVB from official 2.3.3.XXJVO?

Hey new member here,
I was wondering if someone could help me as I am ultimately (hopefully)trying to put Touchwiz 4.0 on my sgs.
I stumbled upon this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1058164 from a responding poster, but rather than risking following it and possibly bricking my phone, can anyone tell me if its possible to do this if my version is already 2.3.3 and xxjvo? So basically can you put a ROM on your phone that is also 2.3.3/current firmware but a different X.J..?
I have been through the process of rooting my current version(successfully) and also I tried to manually deodex it too but get stuck using the cmd commands in the instructions in this guide: http://androidforums.com/droid-x-all-things-root/158274-how-manually-deodex-your-phone.html e.g. I get "permission denied"...
Finally, considering my ultimate aim is to put touchwiz 4.0 on my handset, if there is an easier way to customise my current version 2.3.3. XXJVO i.e. a good ROM I could use compatible with my version that can use an available TW 4.O or any other good features this would be useful. idk, I think I don't really understand what is compatible with what and what ROMs etc I can use...
I am kinda new to this whole flashing, rooting stuff so please be patient with me...any help is very much appreciated!

We're all new at some point mate
Yes you can revert to an older version, you could even go back to eclair if you wanted.
If your looking for TW 4 I would recommend Tweaky ROM 4.1 It has TW 4 and still has a stock feel. Its the most stable TW4 I have used.
If you already have Clockwork recovery you dont need to flash JVH or a custom kernal

Thanks again beerdaddy,
when you say "at least JVH" what exactly do you mean? does that have anything to do with my firmware version 2.3.3 or the XXJVO stuff? I kept reading other posts for a solution before posting and all the JVB, JVH and JVO talk confuses me.
Also are JVO and JVH incompatible/compatible or two different things altogether?

Hey beerdaddy,
Thanks for the info yesterday. I managed to put the ROM on successfully . However, i have encountered a couple problems and the only thing i installed was Tweaky_ROM_v4.1_No_Wipe.zip.
Since you have used this before do you know how to fix two things that have FC on me:
the email app and swype
Swype lets you draw a line but makes a sound when you complete a word and the word does not appear in the text box. The email app just has a blank screen then FC. Also, are there any other common problems i should also know about too?
In this version I no longer have CWM there so how do i reboot into recovery etc? How will i apply any suggested fixes. Thanks in advance
Edit: i found cwm when pressing power and selecting recovery that put me into cwm recovery albeit an older version than what i had before e.g. Power button is used for select not middle button.

No worries mate
I haven't heard about the email app or experienced a problem with the email app so not so sure about that. Did you wipe Dalvik cache? If not try that.
Swype has a fix, you can find details on how to fix on the first page of Tweaky ROM thread under the tips and other things section
Edit: You can get in to recovery using the extended power menu or the three button combo (vol up + home + power key together)
Edit 2: You should wipe data for email app too from the manage app section in settings

Thanks for being such a big help
Both issues are fixed now and it is quite perfect except for the odd widget acting up but I don't use them. I think i'll just have a look round for other slight tweaks just to spruce it up a bit and i'm good. Any suggestions of good additional tweaks to this that work with my version? If not, thanks again. you made this a very easy process along with the help of Tweaky

Not so much a tweak but I would recommend Voodoo Control Plus app of the market. Makes it easier and clearer managing the ext4 lagfix and unlocks some amazing power from the amp giving you great sound quality.
The 7 lockscreen add on is good too which is found on the Tweaky thread, gives you SGSII lock screen plus the usual lot
EDIT: Which widgets aren't working?
K. I'm giving that voodoo control a go and have dl 7 lockscreen. I'm assuming you install it through cwm the same way as every other .zip file?
The widget that doesn't work properly is the "days" widget. I don't use it so its not really a problem. However, if you put it on one of your panels and try to click it it FC's the TW launcher and goes into the phone app. This means you have to choose a launcher again but I guess this would only really apply to someone who uses it; I was just checking out what the days widget was and how the diff widgets looked. cheers
Yeah just the usual installation via cwm. Never tried that widget....you can use another app called Nitrality to remove system apps and widgets you don't want/need

There are two widgets that seem to not be working one is the "power control" widget which appears but with out any actual power controls(basically just a blank screen) and the "days" widget where you can place it on a panel but when you click to edit it it FC's the TW launcher and puts you in the phone app
I don't use them though but found this out because I wanted to see how all the panels/widgets looked.
btw does the SGS2 lockscreen work like in some video I saw where you get your missed messages etc on it and sliding across takes you straight to the msg app?
EDIT: This is kind of a repost because I came back to edit my original reply but it wasn't there for some reason; hence this reply.
Yeah the lockscreen has the text and call slides
Edit: The power control widget will work, you need to stick on to a home screen and then reboot your phone. I personally use the extended power control widget of the market tho
will probably get that one from the market. Thanks for all your help on this. I feel thoroughly welcomed! Cheers

[Official] LANIGHT for Captivate Q&A

I decided to create a new thread solely for Q/A and for people who are exeriencing issues running LANIGHT. Many issues can be solved by flashing different kernel/patch/fix/modem or going back to stock.
Try flashing DarkyRom RE: http://www.darkyrom.com/index.php?th...aptivate.6062/ (Captivate guide)
Then flash JB on it with proper instructions.
When an application crashes I get the option to close it or report the crash. When I click to report the crash it then says that the Play Store crashed. Is there a fix for this?
Still have ringtone issue
I installed 6.5 dd and all went well, but I still have the disappearing ringtone issue. Tried the fix and didn't work. I came from 4.2 dd. Any comments on how to try to fix this? This ROM is great.

Did you try flashing semaphore or flashing the rom with a complete wipe? People reported flashing the different kernel sometimes fixes it... Not sure if it's kernel related which is highly unlikely.
I ran the rom with no issues. I remember it was an issues back in 4.2DD but it was gone when i applied the fix... Not everyone that flashed reported that issue maybe that's why i never got serious about it.
Lockscreen wallpaper image?
is there a way to set a different wallpaper image to the lockscreen?
I can't seem to find this option in the Lanigh 6.5 rom.

Same here, but I have to confess that I made a dirty flash wiping dalvik cache only. I'll try to make a full wipe to see what happens.

I followed instructions from the OP, full wipe 3 times...format individual system/data/datadata/cache/dalvik. Haven't tried semaphore, I like devil ever since team nyx's 4.0.3. With this ROM I have never had wifi issues, since v1. Besides the disappearing ringtones, gallery pictures also disappear just leaving online pics...no FC though. I use quikpic so no biggie.

No luck. Actually it it's worse, since before flashing I had access to standard ringtones, those that come with the ROM, but not those which I created by myself. After flashing, all ringtones disappeared. Tried with the ringtones patch, but also no luck.
Next step, it's to find semaphore and flash new kernel. Any clue where I can download it?
Another repeating issue that occurs to me is the FC in the messages app.
EDIT: I've foud Semaphore and flashed it with Odin. I couldn't check if it solved the ringtone issue, since after apply this kernel, I had two severe issues: my screen rotated 90° to the right and the external-sd was not recognized. I've cleared cache, dalvik, fixed permissions and no luck.
Going back to 4.2 by now.

But today ran into problem with changing lock screen background image to custom image.

You don't need to download Devil kernel manager if you don't want to. It's somewhere in the settings (different Lanight versions have it hidden in different places...).
Probably, under settings -> developer options
Or settings -> extras
Or settings -> tvout
Or there's a galaxy s app...
Maybe there are more places I hid it in different versions lol I had to move things and its as unorganized as my rom thread :/

However I did not find feature request section

However could you please include Russian T9 letters in dialer in future releases?
Thank you very much in advance

Very weird problem when on lanlight (or any JB rom)
I installed V6.5DD using the exact method you wrote on the OP. I was coming from CM9, it booted up correctly and everything works great except three things: 1) i have no lock screen (it is checked) 2) I don't get any notifications, whatsoever(i can pull it down, but i hear an email or sms come in and nothing appears) 3) when i hold the home button the recent apps don't show.
I formatted everything again and re flashed, same exact problem.
What should i do? everything worked well on cm9
please help if you can.
I installed different JB roms and none worked.
I decided to go back to CM9, and guess what? none of those thing i outlined works.
It looks i have to odin back to stock. Can anyone please help me
sincerely,

///UNINSTALL:

The screen fades but not works with gyroscope or proximity sensor, it just enables parts of code that Samsung deleted

Once you flash the zip it enables automatically, no "on-off" button.

There are lots of versions of stock rom, lots of different firmwares and I can't download every single firmware for extracting, decompile and recompile framework. So I just limit this mod for XtreStoLite.
Obliviously you can try adding yourself following the guide I linked in OP.

-Set "Airplane Mode" always On to reduce Network Battery Drain When using the tablet connected to WiFi without any SIM card inserted.
-Boeffla Kernel 3.2 with Boeffla-Config V2 App Installed
Kernel Thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2457996
Awesome kernel with a lot of options and some presets Standard, Battery Saving, Perfomace, etc..
Most of the time when I need good performance I load the "Power" preset within the Boeffla-Configuration App, the tablet runs really smooth without compromising the battery, or u can try u r on settings like oc to 1600Mhz, etc.
-Xposed Installed with the following modules:
*APM+: Advanced Power Menu+ is an Xposed Module which allows you to customize various aspects of your power menu.
*App Settings: This mod targets settings which all apps share, and allows you to change those values on a per-app basis.
*Youtube AdAway: Get rid of ads on the official YouTube App.
*Youtube Background Playback: Enable background playback in YouTube and playback control via notification.
-Apps Bought From Google Play:
*Greenify Donation: Greenify help you identify and put the misbehaving apps into hibernation when you are not using them, to stop them from lagging your device and leeching the battery.
*Nova Launcher Prime: Nova Launcher replaces your home screen with one you control and can customize. Change icons, layouts, animations and more.
*1Weather Pro: 1Weather features a clean, modern design that provides you with essential weather info at a glance.
*Floating Toucher Premium: Floating Toucher is a button that floats on your screen over other apps, and you can move it anywhere. You can customize the panel functions, picking your most commonly used switches or favorite apps.

This rom is very smooth.
Thanks for this !
My N8000 has been so laggy these last weeks that even going back from apps list to the home screen could easily take 30 seconds, and even cause it to reboot.
I prefer to have it usable under KK rather than up to date (LP, MM) and useless.

Hello people,
Coming from a later version (CM-based Lollipop or Marshmallow), is there a recovery-flashing step before diving into this ?
Thanks.

U will have to go back to a stock rom.
1.- Go to sammobile and download a stock 4.4.2 rom for this tablet, u can download the same base this rom is made of ( N8000XXUDPB1 for Luxembourg ).
2.- Then root, flash a custom recovery (I recommend Philztouch), make a full nandroid backup just in case.
3.- Flash this rom.
That's it.
Thanks dude. All went well. Up and running, smooth and fast. ?

Install Instructions For PI3 International Firmware
Note about new rom
This will require you to reinstall The PEH firmware and reroot. Once done The new rom will flash files not a system.img any more. The zip file will be alot smaller. I think this will also help on the MMS problem for some people, as the system partition was getting messed up during multiple flashes of system.img images
Recommended you be on PH1 or PI3 firmware and Rooted
Install Flashfire
G930U_PEH_Deodexed_BS_Free_Rom.zip on internal or sdcard
Open FlashFire and agree to terms
Click the + button in the actions menu
Click Flash Zip or OTA and locate VZW_G935U_PI3_DEODEX_AROMA_V1.zip_Rom.zip and click on it
In Options menu leave the box Mount/system read/write checked and click the check mark in the top right corner of options menu to flash this rom
Leave EverRoot disabled
Leave reboot menu set to normal
Click On The Big Flash Box at Bottom With the Red lightning bolt to flash rom
This zip will wipe data but not internal storage

You must decide if you want to use Google IncallUI or Samsung InCallUI. Samsung InCallUI will allow too still receive and switch to video calls and the google IncallUI will only support HD calling. To switch to google IncallUI goto settings/applications click on default applications choose calling app and click on the blue phone app. To switch back to samsung IncallUI is a little more complicated. You will need an app like root explorer and goto data/system/users/0 and then findthe setting_secure.xml and delete and then restart phone. This will restore samsung IncallUI as default
You will also want to turn edge features off since everthing is deleted
Also you need to goto SuperSU app and goto settings and click on enable su during boot and also click trust system users
Goto this thread and under Recommended Next Steps find the S7_or_S7Edge_Fixes_V15.zip or latest version and flash to fix kernel lage and doze fix.
Goto setting/about phone
Click on build number 5 times to enable developer options
Change animation and duration scales to .05 this will speed up phone
You will also have to change charging/file mode from within developer options
Remember Wiping Dalvik cache will cause phone to take up to 10 min to boot on deodexed roms
If using samsung IncallUI here is a fix for call phone FC and also location service fix

@jkruse Thanks bro appreciate your efforts. One favor, do you know where the Olympic theme is located on your first Rom? (Which folder?) I'm going to extract it from the other version and install it in this one. For some reason its not on the Samsung theme store.

I didnt mean for my reply to come across rude. I just thought since the OP looks like the other one you thought it was the same. This is basically nothing but a bootable rom with like 5 apps installed thats it there are over 180 running apps removed. I kind of thought it would be cool to be able to build your rom how ever you want it without having to worry about what you can delete and what you cannot. I appreciate the support especially on new development. Understand I have many threads and and other devices so i sometimes keep my answers short and direct especially when using the mobile app which I hate using.

Ok, that is what I thought. I just was trying to determine if there was anything else major missing from that other ROM, knowing some apps would have to be pulled or installed, hence your "Playstore" moniker for this ROM. Ok, this is a good clean base ROM for those who like to order "a la carte" down the road when the need for other features are required. I may give it a spin for the fun of it.
Cool! We are good.
sweet idea
Inb4 crazy high battery stats
Just finished flashing about 4 minutes ago. Still suck on the white SAMSUNG logo. Is this normal?
UPDATE: Took like 8 minutes to boot. Runs fine.

I'm using the Google incall with no issues at all. Probably no need to flash if that's what you're using.
So far the ROM is nearly perfect.
Having some MMS issues again. It only works when Wifi is turned off or not connected to a network.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. I even flashed your fix it ZIP.
Hey I'm considering installing this ROM because I live the minimalism of it. How's the performance? Anyone mind posting an AnTuTu score?

I actually found one of the battery saver apps to be causing the issue. I think it was amplify through xposed, it caused the mobile data to turn off when connected to wifi. So, i turned it off and haven't had an issue since.
