MiUI WVGA/HDPI -> qHD Lockscreen Theme Conversion - Android Themes

*UPDATE 4*:
Previews of existing themes are now viewable upon mouse over of the theme names.
*UPDATE 3*:
I have now turned this into a web based program hosted on my personal website. Things to know before trying it out:
-It will convert both old style themes (those with lockscreen directories instead of files) and new style themes (most themes).
-It will supply you with a download link to your converted theme and also a link to every theme that has been converted thus far. Check to see if your theme is already there before uploading it.
-Uploads and downloads from my server may be a bit slow, but considering how small most of these files are, this shouldn't be a major issue.
-The upload file size is limited to 8 MB. If you have a theme bigger than that, remove all non-lockscreen files from it and repack it before uploading it.
-The file name can not have any spaces or special characters. If it does, just rename it so that it doesn't before uploading it.
-The conversion is still not (any will never be) foolproof. There will be some cases where you'll have to go into the manifest.xml file and manually update the values that were overlooked. As it is though, it seems to fully convert ~90% of themes with no further work needed.
-If my website is not responding, send me a pm or post here.
-If you have any questions/issues, post here.
-Enjoy
Link: http://betelicious.dyndns.org/cgi-bin/converter
*UPDATE 2*:
v0.2 attached! It now takes care of all the extracting and repacking for you. You basically just feed it an mtz file and it will handle the rest. This will currently only work with *new* style themes, where the mtz contains an archive called "lockscreen". The logic is the same as before.
*UPDATE 1*
The Perl script is attached! READ THE INCLUDED README!! If you still have questions, feel free to post here or pm me.
All I ask is that you guys help each other out- If you're able to successfully use the script, help out those who can't by converting any requested themes from this thread. And please share here any themes you are able to successfully convert! Let this serve as the official qHD converted theme thread. As always, have fun and enjoy!
The easiest way to make this work properly is to follow these steps:
1.) Download cygwin from http://www.cygwin.com/setup.exe
2.) Run setup.exe.
3.) At the "Select packages" screen in the installer, search for "perl", click "Perl" to expand it, and then click on "Skip" for "perl: Larry Wall's Practical Extracting and Report Language" so that "Skip" changes to the version number, meaning it will be installed.
4.) Do the same for "perl-Image-Magick: image manipulation software suite (Perl bindings)", which should also be listed there under the expanded "Perl" section, so that it's version is displayed. Also ensure that the zip and unzip utilities are installed in the same way.
5.) Search for 'make' and select Devel->make (The GNU version of the 'make' utility) so that it too installs. You'll need this to install any modules in CPAN later.
5.) Click next and complete the cygwin installation.
6.) Open cygwin and, at the prompt type "cpan".
7.) At the cpan prompt, type "Install Image::Info"
8.) Once the Image::Info module is installed, you should be able to run the script without any errors.
Hey guys, I got tired of trying MIUI lockscreen themes only to find that they don't work with my Sensation (along with any other qHD phone). So I wrote a little Perl script to take care of most of the tedious stuff (resizing all of the images and calculating and replacing all of the x, y, w, h values within manifest.xml). This actually takes care of everything in some cases. For example I converted the Sense Ring lockscreen theme with this script and it was good to go in about 10 seconds of work.
But I want to make it clear that I will not be spending copious amounts of time fixing things that the script doesn't already fix. If it's something little, I'll try to fix it. Or if it's something big and I'm bored, I'll also try to fix it, but I'm making no guarantees!
I'm also looking into a way to automate the process by possibly hosting this script somewhere and allowing anyone to upload an mtz file and get the updated mtz back. If this is ever happens, it will not be foolproof, but it will be an enormous first step in any WVGA/HDPI -> qHD conversion. So bring on your requests!
*PLEASE INCLUDE A LINK TO THE THREAD OR WEBSITE WHERE THE THEME YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT IS LOCATED SO I DON'T HAVE TO SEARCH!!*

Sure, downloading now, but been stuck at 0% for a few minutes. Looks like their server is down/hit. If you want it fast, just grab it off your SD card at /MIUI/themes/ and upload it here (or at megaupload.com or something.) because I'm free now

Fixed the last one first because it was requested by someone else too. Everything was perfect after the conversion except for the music controls. Spent a long time trying to figure out why and eventually just manually fixed it. Otherwise these are going smooth! I'll get to the rest tomorrow hopefully.

Well you made script to resize and changing values of mainfest for your phone
it will be awesome if you make script for mdpi devices as can use miui lock on it but resizing manually really time consuming

Clock Widget Switcher v1.9.6 [FINAL]

UPDATE: I no longer have my G1 so I will not be continuing development of this program. Currently, my only project is Find and Pull (in my sig), so feel free to use that (quite useful for me )
Hey guys,
I've been working on a Windows program that will switch your clock widget for you.
Decided to start my own thread so I could manage the updates easier.
CWS v1.9.6
CWS v1.9.6 Mirror
Confirmed working on:
CyanogenMod, TheDude, JF 1.5, Google/HTC Ion, Rogers, JACxRom
ALL CLOCKS - 4x3 and 2x2 -
PREREQUISITES:
Android USB drivers installed (More info on this in next post)
USB Debugging Enabled
HOW TO USE:
1. Connect G1 to computer via USB
2. Extract the files from the .zip
3. Run ClockWidgetSwitcher.exe
4. Everything after that is self-explainable!
HOW TO ADD CUSTOM CLOCKS:
There are now 10 empty folders within the ClockWidgets directory.
5 for 2x2 clocks and 5 for 4x3 clocks.
Move the AlarmClock.apk into the proper folder:
If it's a 4x3 then you have the folders: customclock1, customclock2, customclock3, customclock4, and customclock5
If it's a 2x2 then you have the folders: 2x2customclock1, 2x2customclock2, 2x2customclock3, 2x2customclock4, and 2x2customclock5
Now open the program like usual and 5 new options are added at the end to push those clocks.
HOW TO ADD PHOTOS FOR CUSTOM CLOCKS:
Add the screenshot of each custom clock into its respective folder.
Make sure it's named "device.png". If no photo is available, the default will be used. (Default just being a picture which says 'Custom Clock #_').
HOW TO ADD NAMES FOR CUSTOM CLOCKS:
Add a text file to each custom clock into its respective folder.
Make sure it's named "name.txt". Also make sure there is only 1 line, which has the name of the clock. This will be used in status label at the bottom. If no file is available, the default will be used. (Default just being 'Custom Clock #_').
Changelog and credits are all in app.
If anyone wants the source code, just ask me, and I'll PM it to you.
If anyone has any suggestions or features they would like implemented, LET ME KNOW. I'll try and see if it's possible and if it's useful enough.
Frequently Asked Questions:
1. Will this work on my phone?
No, it won't. This is only for Windows. If you want a version for your phone, use th4r's method here, or the more enhanced version by linuxrebel
2. The program doesn't want to open on my computer. What's wrong?
Most likely, you will need to update to the newest version of .NET framework. I'm using 3.5, so that could be the issue.
3. I used the program and it said my clock was pushed, yet I still see my clock or I see 'Problem Loading Widget'. Que paso?
Remove the clock widget from your home screen and re-add it. I am trying to find a way around this, so any help would be appreciated.
4. Will this work with OpenHome, aHome, dxTop, or any of the other home replacement apps?
I have NO clue at all, lol, so until somebody with one of these comments on that, we shall never know.

How To Install USB Drivers
1. Must download the correct drivers; If using Haykuro's SPL, then here, else you must download the Android SDK and you'll find the drivers in there.
2. Now the next part turns out to be a little hard for some; I've had some problems in the past with this. Step 3 of this guide has some info. If you still cannot get it to work, then do a quick search on XDA and you'll find guides like this one here.

i tried every single clock too just to be sure
so enjoy Rogers users
this also works with JacxRom
updated OP with new version
added 3 new clocks by Ted + manup, prash, and matt_stang
for step 3.

Thanks very much~
PS: I have install the usb driver for my G1 already.

[AUDIO FILES] Have a very OGG-y AudioResources.zip (EDITED 2:11pm)

IF I'M USING YOUR RESOURCES.ZIP, LET ME KNOW SO I CAN CREDIT YOU!
I didn't see anyone having done this before on a search, and I apologize if it's been done already. I put together all the audio resources I could find for ringtones, alarms, notifications, and ui, converted them all to very small .ogg's and put them in a new zip. It's a little over 9 megs and has a LOT of stuff. Enjoy.
Oh, and if you have more to add, post them. I'll convert them it and add it to the zip
DIRECTIONS FOR USE:
1. Unzip
2. IF you are using a media2sd script, put the media folder on your ext partition. If not, use it to replace the one on your phone. I recommend using adb, or just mounting the thing in linux. It'll make it simpler.
3. REBOOT and give your phone some time to index all the ringtones. It'll take some time.
AudioResources.zip:
http://www.lighthousesolutions.info/AudioResources.zip
EDIT:
A LOT of people are downloading and nobody is posting additional links, which means (I hope) that I didn't miss any sound files. I'm glad I could help people out, and if anybody else has anything to contribute please POST! Thanks.
Also, I forgot to post this the first time. Themers and rom developers (hell anyone) feel free to use the converted .ogg's in whatever you want. They aren't mine to start with, but I figure I better make the statement clear.
Enjoy
Dead link above
My compilation is on page 3 ~Mikey~
Thanks! Can't have too many random ringtones to choose from I say. Already got the giant mega audio resource list from the other topic that includes all the various android phones, this will just help more.

I think this includes all of those, although if you find some that I'm missing, please post them. The main draw of this is that all of sound files are as tiny as possible, making it so you can fit them on internal memory if you want to, or just use less space. The entire thing is only 9.4 mb, and it includes the ringtones from the hero and magic.
Post any ringtones it doesn't contain so I can squish them down to tiny size too.

You don't have your rom in your sig, so my help will have to be very basic. I run cyanogen's experimental rom (not for the faint of heart) and huanyu's user customizable script. Other than that I can't offer much help. What I can say is that if you push the ENTIRE contents of this zip to your ext partition on your sd card and use huanyu's script with media2sd activated, you'll be fine.
Huanyu also has a version of his script for the stable series of cyanogens roms.
I have NO idea how to do media2sd on hero. I don't support hero as an os and will never use it unless the ENTIRE android community decides to go that route.
If you are using another rom let me know and I'll see what I can do.
I'm currently on Drizzy's newest hero build, but the guts are the same. I went back and did some research and that script is working thanks for the help.

No problem, and I'm glad they're working out for you. So far I've got over 100 downloads, so it seems people like this.
Anybody with any additional tones to be added? I'd really like to beef it up!

Thank you mate!

Are any of them for a released or soon to be released android phone? I could put together a "legal" and a "questionable" vesion, although the latter might have to be off the forum (hint hint). I'd like to keep the one on here being full of nothing but official android and htc ringtones for released and soon to be released (ie leaked) android devices.
Noob Question...
I'm running CyanogenMod-4.0.4 + Recovery 1.4 and the community hero rom and was wondering how I should go about implementing this audio resources zip. Do i apply the update from the recovery? Or is there some other way of getting them on?
You can push them to /system/media....but I'd recommend using hyanu's userinit.sh script instead. media2sd is FAR superior for the number of sound files were talking about here.
any chance of this being posted elsewhere? Was looking to download this, but the site doesn't seem to exist.

[ROM][Unofficial]SlimBean - The Menu Returns [build.2.1] [5-Nov-13]

Here's presenting stock Slimbean ROM with just 2 commits reverted which prevented users from adding the big menu button to navigation bar and SlimPie. Besides this, this is pure Slimbean without any modification whatsoever. I'm not a developer, in fact I learnt to install linux because I wanted the menu button so bad. I thought maybe I should share this with similar minded people. I'm going to upload updates as and when Slim team releases 4.3 updates as I'm not sure about the changes that would be made in 4.4. I won't be able to take any request as I am totally unaware of how to make any modifications, cherry picks or anything else. Hope you enjoy this ROM.

What statusbar mods are you talking about? This build is pure stock with just 2 reverts which enable us to add the menu button, apart from that no other change. The latest build was synced on 5th November, so maybe the statusbar mods were added later.

I guess you revert the change in framework-res.
In that case, you just need to create an update.zip which replace the old framework-res with your framework-res, and user only need to flash that file instead of the whole ROM.

8108afc56d15553c1d4abc83c9e9e27ac5b7cb36-framework/base
don't know exactly how many files or what else changes due to that. If you could figure that out, i'll be more than happy to help. and can u tell me whether there is any way i can compile some selected files instead of the whole rom?

What I mean is you still compile the rom, but only make a flashable zip of these two files and put it here. It would be easier for both you and me.
From the commit, I guess the two files are settings.apk and framework-res

No problem mate.
The easiest way is to extract your rom to a new folder, delete boot.img, go to system folder and delete everything except the two files you want to keep. (you must also keep the folder structure). Inside these 2 folders are only files you want to copy (in this case settings.apk and framework-res)
Then go to META-INF\com\google\android\ folder and use notepad to edit the updater-script file like this
After that, you can compress them as simple zip and flash via twrp.
Next time you can just replace 2 files, compress again. No need to edit updater-script

So what you are saying is that if someone or I can just extract those 2 apks and add to a flashable zip I have lying round and menu button will be added to normal slim?
Would have been quicker!!

ALL 700 Chromecast Wallpapers in high resolution

I am fully aware that it was discussed before. Just now we got full collection in high resolution. This is a find, it's not made by me.
There is an active project made by Deirdre Connolly(dconnolly) collecting all the wallpapers.
Here it is ALL 220 700 Chromecast wallpapers in high resolution:
https://github.com/dconnolly/Chromecast-Backgrounds
https://gist.github.com/dconnolly/8188825
A. If you use Firefox and DTA(DownThemAll) on Windows platform it will fail to download about 20 wallpapers because of too long file names.
Use renaming masks to make filenames short and clean.:
DownThemAll! ยป Renaming mask
www.downthemall.org
Two renaming mask examples:
1. Simple:
Code:
Chromecast wallpaper.*ext*
2. This one is particularly interesting for graphic files because it adds year-month-day to file name:
Code:
Chromecast wallpaper_*y*-*m*-*d*.*ext*
If "File Name Conflict!" occurs pick "Rename into" with "Remember this setting" and "Just for this session", press OK

It's nice that you're grateful, but to reduce amount of redundant post there are thanks buttons under each post if you find helpful post just press thanks.
PS. There are new wallpapers, I can't count how many, but there is definitely more than 220.

Here is how to batch rename the wallpapers.
- Copy the zip file to your Android phone's internal memory.
- Use a file explorer to extract the zip file & put the wallpapers into a folder.
- Use free Quickpic (or any other free tool from Play store) to batch rename the wallpapers in one step.
Note: A few wallpapers are duplicated.
Enjoy

Avoid having to use DownThemAll and bulk rename utilities to rename the long file names unsupported by Windows.
I have compiled all 222 images named 'Chromecast Wallpaper 001', 002, 003 etc in a zip and uploaded on my dropbox.

Jar to get them all
From what I have seen, there are over 500 unique backgrounds. I wrote a quick and dirty java program to get them all for me. It also optionally matches the gradient and can watermark the author's names.
Shameless self promo: https://github.com/nerdwaller/Chromecast-Backgrounds
If you don't have the JDK I can put up a jar for you to run.
Also in the works (and currently active on my phone) is an android version that will be a little more feature rich if time allows).

Wow, this looks awesome. Could you attach or link an executable jar? I don't have the JDK and would prefer to not have to install it just for this one time use.

Added the jar to another repo: https://github.com/nerdwaller/Chromecast-Backgrounds-Binaries
Assuming that you have some type of JRE in your $PATH:
java -jar ~/Downloads/ChromecastBackground.jar -help
java -jar ChromecastBackground.jar -gradient -help
usage: Chromecast-Backgrounds
-gradient Overlay a gradient (attempts to match the Chromecast's
display of images)
-help Print this message
-outdir <arg> Output directory
-settings <arg> Load settings from a file.
-watermark Apply the author's name as a watermark

I'm willing to bet it's an issue with the java version, I am using Java 1.7.0_55. What's the output of `java -version`?
By the way, thank you for being a Guinea pig for me, I really appreciate it. The other person I had test this out didn't expose this issue yet!

Ah, yes. My Java version is 1.6.0_65. Hmm. I thought I had just updated the JRE too. Let me try logging out and back in and trying it again.

So I'm not sure why this happened, but when I just type java in the terminal, it wants to use a 1.60_65 version, but if I use "/Library/Internet\ Plug-Ins/JavaAppletPlugin.plugin/Contents/Home/bin/java -jar ChromecastBackground.jar -help" it runs the jar just fine. I tried to run it without specifying a destination directory and it said it was saving to a directory named "/Users/taylorducote/Library/Application Support/chromecastbg/". The program ran saying that it found 100 images and that it was downloading them all and got to where it said "Finished.", but that directory doesn't seem to exist, and I can't find the images.
Any ideas?

APK Manager / Deodex / Odex Manager

So, I have put together an actual Windows program for a lot of Rom Builders. I used to build a lot of Roms, but really don't do much of it any longer. What I know though, is the tool I built is extremely easy to use and very effective. I thought some of you would very much enjoy this tool. It will also allow a lot more people to start theming and tinkering It has built in Draw9 support and will automatically detect what versions of Java you have and allow you to select which one you would like to use.
So I am going to post it here for now in the Note 4 forum for a few of you to install it and check it out. It will support many phones, if not all. All you have to do is make sure you have some type of Java program installed on your PC. The rest is all self-contained and updated.
The first thing you are going to need to do after install is to go into setup and setup the paths accordingly, to your liking. Once this program is setup it runs great. I have built it with threading, so it won't lag as you are working along.
I will post some screen shots for you all to check out.. I would use these as examples of what your environment should look like. Also, make sure you pull the system, from the adb options tab, from your phone as the first step before doing anything else, it will use the framework files as needed to work. This path is also where your deodex setup paths of originals should point to, the pulled files for app and framework.
Enjoy !!!

You just plug your phone in and wait for it to detect it.
From there you need to setup the program, look at the screen shots.

So basically whatever mods you currently have you then make flushable?
I guess what I am asking is should we Odin the stock base that's odex, pull the folders with your program, deodex it and make whatever mods?
Biggest question, how do we make it flushable, I am extremely new to this

So, I am assuming, you mean flashable. Look around for update.zip files associated with Android. You need to make sure you are rooted / dev edition in order to even pursue this. If you are then do some research on update.zip files and understanding our partition table for our phone or your phone, etc..
Wifi tethering unlock
I have my Note 4 DE ordered/shipped by Samsung. I have never used this program before, how easy is it to do your own Native WiFi Hotspot modification? Or is there any step by step I have missed somewhere? Basically, I am wanting to root, TWRP and then change a few things on my own.
Thanks!
