[Q] Music controls in notification bar - Motorola Droid 3

I would like to be able to control music from the drop down of the notification bar. Using Widgetsoid I can get the controls in the notification bar but they do not function at all, is there any fix for this?
Also the widgetsoid widget when placed on the homescreen works perfectly it just doesnt work in the notification dropdown.

The current version of CyanogenMod allows for custom items to be placed in the status bar. There are options for play, forward, back, and pause. I use it and it works great.

That's cos some roms don't have the ability to have more then one touch function widget per notification line, I forget what's it's called but you need to enable the function in the frame work res file. Not a quick or easy thing to do.
Widgets in the notif bar is awesome.

Thanks for the responses. My phone isn't rooted but this is reason enough

If you need help rooting, I posted this in another thread last night.
Third, One Click Root is very idiot proof. But I will run you through a very brief guide: Download and install the driver for your respective computer's OS here and download the latest version of Pete's One Click Root. http://www.psouza4.com/droid3/ Then, enable USB debugging by going under settings-> Applications-> Development, and checking the box. Assuming you have the correct drivers installed on your computer, you should plug your phone in and allow it to recognize the device and such. After it's all done, open up Pete's One Click Root and simply click Root My Phone. Let it do it's thing, then you are done.

Have you considered Widgetzoid? You can create a widget with the media buttons and have it placed in the pull down bar.

Make sure you have the correct widgetsoid (two versions), and do any other selections work from the notification bar?

I am using widgetsoid 2.x and have succesfully placed the music controls in the notification bar but all they do is activate a popup which allows me to control music which is cool but i would like to use them in the notification bar dropdown like you can on the LG revolution.
I think will root my phone sometime this week most likely with Maverick 2.0 as it seems to be pretty solid
Does anyone know if darkdroid supports widgets in the notification bar?

Widgetoids 2.x notification tray problem?

Running 2.3.3 here and just installed widgetoids to get the toggles in the notification dropdown area.
All works great through the widget on the home screen but when added to the notification tray in options it doesn't do anything when I click one of the toggles except close the tray.
Anyone got this to work successfully?
Would really appreciate it if anyone could test this for me as I'd love to have it working properly.
used it while ago and it worked perfectly... when its on the notification bar and you press it it's not like CM7 power controls for example... instead there is a pop window showing up with the controls and there you switch the controls on/off.. used that when i had Axura ROM on my device..
There's an option to turn that pop-up off though and just have the toggles in the notification area. This is what I'm trying to achieve.
I know the app can do it as it works perfectly this way on the incredible s from htc.
Ive turned it off but then nothing happens, I guess its not compatible with 2.3.3 yet...

Thanks for testing. Seems that may he the case, in which case its really nothing more than a glorified power control widget.

[Q] Hide notification bar when there are no notifications

Hi,
I'm searching for a possibility to unhide a hidden notification bar only then when a notification is there.
I dont want to unhide it via home-button or gesture, it shall appear when there is a notifiction.
someone have an idea, how to solve this?
br
moep.at
I think this would be a wonderful tweak! Here's hoping a willing developer sees this.
I was about to say I'm all for this, but then I realized showing signal strength is kinda important no? And battery life, but a widget on the home screen can solve that.
That would be pretty sweet
Look for a launcher in the market one of them does this...I forget which though, sorry
Sent from my VS910 4G using XDA App
^ADW launcher does this I believe. I may be wrong though.
use adw. you can hide it then use a gesture to unhide it.

He doesn't want a gesture to it tho.

This is an awesome idea!
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using XDA App
Well using gestures, use the up swipe to hide/unhide the status bar and downswipe to open up the notifications, so you can open notifications by down swipe and when you close it the status bar automatically hides... and this is possible in ADW. That's the best option I can think of, I myself use that

while i am no tasker genius or for that matter user even. i feel that this might be able to be accomplished with tasker and a launcher that has the option to hide the status bar. since tasker waits for something to happen such as receiving a notification you could then have tasker execute showing the status bar and then hiding it once there are no more notifications. in adw you can set up an icon to show and hide the status bar and also as mentioned before use a gesture. idk if tasker can use a gesture or icon. but if it can then an icon that is placed somewhere within the launcher for its executing could be used. if you didnt want it visible it could be hid in the hidden dock bar to hide and also to use, if for some reason you needed to access the status bar. idk im just speculating. if someone was more familiar with tasker could chime in and maybe give more insight on if this is plausible or not would be interesting.
You could keep it hidden and use tasker to show toast (pop up) notifications , I think its possible

Toggles for JB

Hey all,
I know rom development is in the works, but I feel like I'm lost without toggles in the "pull down notification" area. I was put on to "Power Controls" from the Play Store and it works great. It's free, customizable, and works without root for those that aren't into that sort of thing!
You can find it here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.painless.pc&feature=nav_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwyLDNd
Hope this helps a few folks out!
Thanks,

just a heads up to your heads up.. i used this app with ICS and loved it, was exactly what I needed in the notification bar. However with JB this app hurts the experience. In JB the top notification is expanded for greater viewing and actions. This app is treated as a notification and will always be treated as your top notification and you lose the whole JB notification functionality.
Notification Toggle fits well. ICS icons match and notification priority and icon can be changed so it's almost seamless.

Btw- you can manually expand JB notifications with a pinch-to-zoom.

I have been using a similar app called Widgesoid to implement that toggle for a while. I had been using it in 4.0.4 and it is still there since upgrading to 4.1.1 and I expand my emails all the time to see who said what. Maybe it is this app(people said the same thing about Widgetsoid), or because I already had it installed when upgrading, but I don't know what you mean by losing that functionality. Still works fine for me.

What do you mean by "click something to get to the toggles?" Just swipe the notification shade down with two fingers to show the toggles. Tap a toggle to go into its settings or tap and hold to toggle the function.

Have you Checked out Xposed Framework and Gravitybox?
It allows you to turn your quicksettings into toggles. The main reason why I used gravitybox was the torch & wifi AP toggle plus it was just update so you can rearrange the order.
This option might be better if you want to keep android looking stock. Also Xposed framework brings in all kinds of options you'd expect with custom roms.
I'm hoping we get these kind of toggles on the Moto X. This is my Gnex. I don't know why moto didn't add the option to add more toggles like the SIV and G2.

I've customized them already. I want them as notification toggles not tiles on their own curtain. There is no setting I can find to turn off the rules and make them toggles on the notification curtain.

I really like Notification Toggles in Play. If rooted you can install as a system app and get true 1-touch state switching.

This. With gravity box..you just long press the tile and it toggles....no need to go into settings like when you just press the tiles quick.
Most...that I've tried anyway...apps that give you toggles on the notification screen, like Samsung, give you an icon in the status bar on the top left. And you can't get rid of it. Personally I can't stand that. Lol

Custom Quick Settings tiles?

Hey all,
having been used to custom roms (slimkat) on my old phone, I got used to certain features. One of them was choosing which tiles appear in the quick settings pull screen. Is there any way to do that on the Droid Turbo without root/xposed? Would love screen rotation to be available. Thanks.
This was one of the very first things I tried to do with this phone. Unfortunately from my experience I have not found any options to change anything about the pull down menu.

You need root to directly change the quick tiles.
As a workaround, I use the app "power toggles" which puts a custom bar in the dropdown menu that can be configured (I too need to be able to change screen rotation quickly).
I think Lollipop has a shortcut in the dropdown!

I would love to know as well as this is typically a root deal. I have survived with zooper, widgetsoid and popup to create the toggle panel in the center that pops up when I press the gears toggle button. Easier than pulling down panel and then pressing the tiles button to show all tiles that does not include all the toggles I use.
Under the General tab in the Themer options, you will see a selection for Notification Toolbar. Select this. Use your standard launcher and viola! Customizable? toolbar on the drop down, including a flashlight!

I have power toggles and have set a bar in the notification area but I don't see any option to make it into a ribbon, where is the setting for this?
Power toggles is amazing. It also allows access to volume sliders. IDK why android doesn't allow the volume buttons to open all the volume sliders. :\
