[ROM] [i9020/23] CyanogenMod 9 v4.0.4 v7.0 + CM Night builds - Nexus S Android Development

CyanogenMod is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 4.0 (ICS), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.
Code:
#include <std_disclaimer.h>
/*
* Your warranty is now void.
*
* I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
* thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
* do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM
* before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if
* you point the finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you.
*/
CyanogenMod is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. CyanogenMod does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.
All the source code for CyanogenMod is available in the CyanogenMod Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to CyanogenMod, please visit out Gerrit Code Review. You can also view the Changelog for a full list of changes & features.

Q/A Post
Q/A:
I have an extrange green color at boot and when I have automatic brightness setted, what can I do:
Go to crespo setting and change in gamma the values: ( by default values on google are 0,0,0 but I suggest you to explore the best you like) for me is:
RED: 50
GREEN: 46
BLUE: 46
How can I do to make a clean install?
Read that post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20485148&postcount=146
I have 2 times gallery app repeated and is buggy:
Install again gapps. This happens because you updated and no installed gapps after installing.
I need to go root with adb, but it doesn't work:
adb root
After you can type "adb remount" or simply "adb shell" and you are root.
How can I do to enable KSM?:
Settings -> performance -> Memory Management -> Kernel Samepage merging ( KSM )

Then reboot. Done

Iam using gueste2x v3.8 EXT3 its very fast, no problems so far, only problem you can't use touch cwm. If you use the touch recovery your google play will crash. The Kernel is importsant for good performance and stability. You must choose the right Baseband and Ril for good conectivity. I use BB 218 and a 218 RIL and everything works fine. My Kernel is symbi0sis v1.3. Try these combinations and you will have a very good and stable rom

gueste2X Hybrid Revolution v3.8 - EXT3 Edition
EXT3 says hello :victory:
Wanna take the last step in maximizing smoothness and battery life?
This special EXT3 edition definitely is even smoother than normal v3.8 edition. I've tested myself and will keep this version on my own phone.
The beautiful LG ICS Theme by MMarkkk is included & preinstalled! :victory:
Screenshots: http://forum.xda-developers.com/album.php?albumid=8148
this is the same ROM as v3.8 but one last bit smoother and more energy efficient
The difference to normal v3.8 is: EXT3 file system (auto conversion, auto full wipe (!)), integrated LG ICS theme and a different edition of latest symbi0sis kernel (guestekrnL toolchain edition)
EXT3 file system has been described by many independent O2X users as more energy efficient than EXT4. LG Stock ROM for example comes with EXT3 as well. Also some say the phone feels a bit smoother under EXT3.
the rest is same as v3.8 normal edition, so please read the changelog and instructions of it as well if you are new to this ROM!
Installation procedure:
Backup your apps, messages and everything you usually backup before a full wipe (only wipes system, data, cache, not SD cards)
Flash the ROM
Code:
gueste2x_v3.8_Hybrid_Revolution_EXT3_FULLWIPE.zip
in CWM. It automatically performs full wipe and conversion to EXT3 - be patient, takes some time.
Boot the ROM, choose LG Home as laucher when asked (recommended)

gueste2X Hybrid Revolution v3.8 - smoother than ICS?
No need to backup media files (pictures, video) before flash. Default version uses (inverted) CM7 mount, not LG Stock Mount.
The LG ICS theme for Hybrid v3.8 has been fixed and re-uploaded by MMarkkk and now fits perfectly with the latest ROM
From now on this nice additional theme can be used with v3.8!
@all: Enjoy the new screenshots of Hybrid Revolution v3.8 + LG ICS Theme by MMarkkk - this beats ICS in smoothness and also looks good :victory:

v3.8 (compared to version v3.7)
ROM
all the changes from rebuilt v3.7 included
upgraded base ROM to latest Temasek CM7 Kang 135.2 (as always big thanks to Temasek for providing the base for this ROM :good
more themes included, select with theme changer; one of them is LG UI 3.0 theme by Imperticus -- thanks and credits for it to him
fixed LG stock Calendar app - date fields on creation of a new event now have the right colors (black on white instead of black on black)
added some additional wallpapers from LEZO-OS (thanks and credits to the creators of it)
completely re-worked LG UI 2 Launcher -> removed all parts of LG SNS (Social Network Services) which were draining battery; the launcher now is smaller and social-crap-free
removed LG SNS (LG Facebook and so on) - it's just draining battery too much. Please use the default apps for Facebook, etc. from market instead
re-added all live wallpapers
added PDroid (Privacy Protection) app - credits to svyat
some minor fixes
Kernel (symbi0sis v1.3.1)
Changelog here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=32708348&postcount=568
included kernel version is:
Code:
symbi0sis_kernel-1.3.1_symbi0sis-Chain-v2.zip
If you experience any strange problems or high battery drain, switch to a different version of 1.3.1 kernel (see changelog)
All together
Improved stability and especially smoothness [!]. Check it out, should be one of the smoothest ROMs available, providing ICS feeling.

The mount tweaks of v3.7 are NOT compatible with v3.8!
Always consider full-wipes. They aren't needed but cleaner. Don't report strange bugs here when not being on a full wipe ROM.
Boot animation does not run endlessly. On first boot you will get a black screen after some time when boot animation ends. This is NO BSOD, just wait.

Can be flashed as it is over Hybrid 3.7 (it should work with v3.6 too but basically it is for 3.7)
gueste2X Hybrid Revolution v3.7 - Rebuilt [Sept 25 2012]
v3.7-Rebuilt
This is no new version of the ROM, it's just v3.7 + new kernel + one changed file:
integrated latest symbi0sis kernel v1.3 -> fixing stability issues, improving smoothness, enhancing features, fixing Bugs (per example LED button bug)
exchanged apns-conf.xml file from CM7 with the one from stock -> fixing rare connection issues
Download:
http://goo.gl/10o5J
Important:
This is no new standalone-release - you have to read the Changelog of v3.7 first edition too if you haven't used v3.7 before
gueste2X Hybrid Revolution v3.7
No need to backup media files (pictures, video) before flash. Default version uses (inverted) CM7 mount, not LG Stock Mount.
v3.7 (compared to full version of v3.6)
ROM
fixed youtube -> LG Stock Camera opening forced close bug
re-introduced O2X SocialNetworkServices app instead of the Optimus Sol one. Now you have icons for Facebook, Twitter, MySpace for LG in app drawer again
re-introduced LG Stock alarm app - hopefully bug-free, along with newly ported LG Stock Clock app
updated GuesteOC app to v2.2, fixing various bugs and providing improvements - thanks to TrymHansen!
fixed Music Player force closing which happened in some situations
inverted CM7 mounting as default
removed 3rd party world clock app, instead using LG stock again
updated Camera apps, tweaked for higher bitrates. There should be no need to flash the Cam mod packages from 3.6
based on latest CM7 Temasek 135.1 build
removed development.apk & squareparts.apk & GenieWidget and some additional MIUI clock widgets (some remain though)
re-added Gallery3D app
removed additional Live-Wallpapers
added LG Photoframe Widget
removed VoiceDialer.apk
removed & changed some init.d tweaks, cleaned up
removed a sonyericsson tweak
reverted some camera libs to CM7 default
removed some build.prop tweaks
Kernel (symbi0sis v1.2.1.1)
additional UHOC (ulta high OC) version is available again with default clock of 1,1 GHz and max clock 1,536 GHz- check kernel download folder, in v3.7 the default version of the kernel is included
building modules with -Os flag instead of -O2
using SLUB memory allocator instead of SLAB allocator for better performance
using VR scheduler as default instead of SIO (in my opinion it stays most lag-free after days of uptime)
disabled CPU alignment again (for battery)
now using Google SNAPPY compression for ZRam instead of LZO - should provide better performance. However CompCache uses LZO and in my opinion phone feels smoother when using CompCache. Just try both and compare, set the desired compressed RAM method in GuesteOC.
fixing "incompatibility" of symbi0sis with OC tools other than GuesteOC - now all tools recognize 216 MHz as lowest CPU freq instead of 389 -- possible problem: you maybe can't set min CPU freq to 389 MHz anymore in some OC tools, you would have to use 5xx instead.
fixing some smaller issues, like a touch LED bug
some changes in kernel configuration for provision of higher smoothness & battery (?)
some stability changes
All together
Improved stability and especially smoothness [!]. Check it out, should be one of the smoothest ROMs available, providing ICS feeling. Also try the CompCache-tip at the end of this posting.

Mount Tweaks:
available in download folder too
Replacement package LGEmail -> CM7Email:
available in download folder too - for those who prefer CM7 Email
Important:
Make sure your kernel version AFTER ROM installation is NOT v1.2.1 (you will have this if you installed the v3.7 ROM I uploaded today in the morning and removed afterwards to exchange the kernel) - if it is, please update to v1.2.1.1 or higher (reason: 1.2.1 has a bug in touch LED brightness)
if you don't see a clock on notification bar, you have to change the clock's color in Cyanogenmod Settings from black to White/Grey or any other color!
cyanogenmod settings -> user interface-> status bar -> clock color

Credits:
TrymHansen for his superb updated version of GuesteOC
Temasek as always for his latest CM7 build
Known Bugs:
In LG Launcher 2.0 you will see in widget list a widget called "Social Networks". Also this widget is preloaded on second left launcher page. It is non-functional! It is a remain of the removed Optimus Sol SocialNetworkServices. Use the "My Status" and "Social Feeds" widgets of O2X SNS app instead.
Following mounting tweaks are available:
Code:
1) [!NOT RECOMMENDED!] [LG Stock] LG_Stock_InternalSDAsMain_externalSDAsSubfolder.zip
[images and media files on EXTERNAL SD will for sure get lost if you use this mounting tweak]
------------------------------------
Internal: /mnt/sdcard
External: /mnt/sdcard/_ExternalSD
2) [!NOT RECOMMENDED!] [LG Stock Inverted] Mount_ExternalSDAsMain_internalSDAsSubfolder.zip
[images and media files on INTERNAL SD will probably get lost if you use this mounting tweak]
------------------------------------
Internal: /mnt/sdcard/_InternalSD
External: /mnt/sdcard
3) [Hybrid v3.7 Default, Recommended] InvertedCyanogenmod_Mount-internalSD_asMain.zip
------------------------------------
Internal: /mnt/sdcard
External: /mnt/emmc
4) [CM7 Default] CyanogenMod_Stock_SD_Mount_externalSD_asMain.zip
------------------------------------
Internal: /mnt/emmc
External: /mnt/sdcard
Please try using CompCache too instead of ZRam - give CC a try and tell me if you like it better than ZRam. In my opinion the phone feels smoother than with ZRam, but more opinions ZRam <-> CompCache also on battery usage would be interesting.
You can enable CompCache in GuesteOC (set desired size first, I took 128 MB)
New: Minimalist Edition of v3.6 ROM
Either backup the JPG images on your external SD first or flash the CM7 default stock mount tweak or the inverted cyanogenmod mount tweak (Download Mount Tweaks) right after flashing the ROM - to be completely sure you don't loose any images on your external SD.

Rest as in v3.6 - advantages: Partially lower RAM & battery use, partially higher smoothness
Bugs: Music widget will FC if you press the social network buttons, because SNS.apk has been deleted
Download same as v3.6: http://d-h.st/users/gueste/?fld_id=5299#files
If you miss a specific app or want to remove more apps, just open the ROM ZIP and delete or add files from /system/app folder or /data/app folder with your archiver application. You can take missing apps from full version of 3.6 and just paste them into the minimalist zip @ the same place where you took it from.

New Addon Package - featuring LG Stock Music Widget
Download: http://d-h.st/users/gueste/?fld_id=5326#files
Installation: Just flash with CWM
Info: If you removed SNS.apk from your system, Social Network buttons won't work in the widget. Rest works.
New Camera Packages are available for Download
http://d-h.st/users/gueste/?fld_id=5320#files
Code:
DualCamera-Package_Stock+CM7Default.zip 3.72 MB
DualCamera-Package_Stock+CM7HD.zip 3.75 MB
The packages will fix the Volume Keys and Search Button + Zoom button problem in both CameraHD and default CM7 Camera and additionally it allows you to switch between CM7 default Cam and CM7 modded HD Cam! (both Packages will delete the previous Stock and CM7 Cams and replace them).
Zoom via Volume buttons for me is buggy in CamHD, so if it is for you too and you want it fixed, I recomment using the package with default CM7 Cam.
! These packages are unfortunately not compatible with Temasek ROM !
Changelog release v3.6:
Either backup the JPG images on your external SD first or flash the CM7 default stock mount tweak or the inverted cyanogenmod mount tweak (Download Mount Tweaks) right after flashing the ROM - to be completely sure you don't loose any images on your external SD.

Important:
The mount tweaks of v3.5 are NOT compatible with v3.6!
Always consider full-wipes. They aren't needed but cleaner. Don't report strange bugs here when not being on a full wipe ROM.

Known Bugs / problems:
TrymHansen told me that the ported stock apps appear to be in English for Norwegian users. Unfortunately I didn't have time to fix this yet :/
If you start stock Camera, wait 2 seconds before closing it again to avoid reboots
the boot animation ends after 30 seconds. If boot takes longer, screen will be black, this is NO BSOD
if you don't see a clock on notification bar, you have to change the clock's color in Cyanogenmod Settings from black to White/Grey or any other color!
cyanogenmod settings -> user interface-> status bar -> clock color

! ! ! Neither I, nor XDA, nor anybody else is responsible for any damages that might happen to you, your phone or someone or something else due to using this ROM and following these instructions ! ! !@DEVs: Please note that I don't appreciate it if you take my ported apps and include them in your own custom ROMs. If you want them, please port them yourselves, thank you. Also for some of them just copying in a CM7 ROM won't work.
All I can say is ...WOW...! Have been following your German forum for a while. Did not dare to write anything because even with google translate, did not want to misinterpreted.
Thanks a lot for giving lesser mortals like us the best of two worlds.. Stock and CM goodies, Herr, Stefan...!!!
EDIT:- By the we my country is celebrating "Republic Day" today. I consider this ROM as one of the best gifts I have received till date...!! Many thanks once again..!

I also wanted to port original LG Video Player and LG Email app, but they (LG) included xxx lines of code for LG DRM (digital rights management) and it would be very complicated to remove them all without having the actual source code and breaking the app and I also don't know if this would be allowed.
Porting orig FM Radio I tried too, could get it started but nothing more because they (LG) deeply integrated it in framework.jar and so this would also take too long for porting.
But I'm quite pleased with the ROM as it is now
Flashed the minimalistic version with Vadonka's kernel
Taken a sample photo , in low light condition (in attachment, re-sized). Will test for a while to say about battery life.
I have couple of requests to Stefan.
1. Is it possible to port the LG contacts to this ROM? I really love the search contact function in LG version of contacts. I know that I can use google search widget, but the built in function in LG is nice.
2. I use pattern lock to screen lock the phone. But even then one can power down/ reboot the phone even without unlocking. I have seen, in MiUi, we can disable this feature. Do you know how to do this ( power down / reboot only when we unlock the phone) ?
Otherwise, I still believe my phone is running on a dream .

Vadonka's kernel is one of the kernels which do many many modifications to the system, messing with the init scripts, installing additional stuff like Bravia Engine (which is already installed) and I can't recommend using it, because if errors appear you will not know if they are caused by the ROM itself or by some of the additional stuff coming with the kernel and causing problems with my mods and tweaks...
But however just test it, hopefully it works good for you
Maybe lateron I will make a kernel package with vadonka's kernel and without all unnecessary stuff..
1) LG contacts I don't believe so, because this is not really an LG app, it's a modified 2.3.4 Google contacts app (hope I'm not wrong) and I don't really know if it is completely compatible with 2.3.7 Android... but I can try!
2) Sorry I have no idea for this :/
Simply incredible, Stefan. The best of everything.

I keep that in mind. Re-flashed your "ironkernel" version and test it for now.
1) Understood. Good if you try and succeed, otherwise too no issue .
2) Not a big issue, just a frill feature ( ' ok if it is there' kind)
can use V20M baseband??
Could you put up a seperate zip file for the LG Launcher so i can use it on CM7 ?
I tried to copy it from this ROM, but cant install it on CM7 KANG

Please don't misunderstand me, everyone can flash whatever kernel he/she wants, I just believe the P990 is very sensitive concerning the setting in the init scripts and so on and I also modified Ramdisk/Bootimage and if u take a look at init.d folder you will see idk about 10 or more init scripts and if you apply a kernel like vadonka's you will have even more init scripts with duplications or overriding values and there are more examples:
- temasek's kernel (if you take his orig ZIP) will replace the whole bootimage -> so my modifications too
- ironKrnl (if u take orig Zip) will wipe your whole /etc/init.d/ folder and put his own scripts in it -> so all my additional scripts will be lost; it also installs toggle2g and replaces values in build.prop (which I set for the ROM), ramsisk and so on ...
... that's why I don't trust the original kernel-Zips anymore, the DEVs should really provide a kernel-only ZIP too, with only the real necessary files...

No no..! There is no misunderstatnding .
I usually I test the ROM with default settings for a couple of days. In this case, I just jumped the gun and mixed the kernel in the loop . Now that I have your 'default' ROM flashed back, and restored back only contacts, call and sms logs, can give feedback how it goes for a day or two.
Hi Gueste! Your ROM look very impressive! Before I install your ROM, I would want to know if it exist a stock LG theme without the circle battery bar (Just like the stock theme )
Thank you!

Sure, just download the original theme here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1039246 and replace the theme's apk in /system/app (the one with hdpi in filename) -- because I took this theme and just put the circular battery in it via uotkitchen!
Gueste: Can the Litderose be ported. I think its my favorite.
Edit: holy shiait this thing is flying! First time I'm impressed for a long time now.

CM 9 safe kernel to flash. There are no modules in this kernel, just the kernel. Flash while phone in download mode from Odin or Heimdall.
Find it here
Not sure if its OK to flash from your current kernel? - Your answer awaits you here - credit chasmodo
FAQ's - by sunny2303
1. Has this ROM been ported from any other device ROM (like Nexus 7)?
No, we at Asylum believe in original work and the developer has built this completely from scratch using CM10 sources, for details refer credits in OP of ROM thread
2. Which kernels are safe to directly wipe and flash Asylum JB from? (BTW, flashing instructions in the OP need updating too - chas)
a) any CM9 or CM10 based kernels (don’t know how to put the goddamn bullet, someone edit my edits, please - chas)
b) any NoteCore, SpeedMod v4 and above, Franco v4 and above
c) any GB kernel
3. Which kernels must be replaced before wiping and flashing Asylum JB?
a) any CF--Root ICS kernel (GB are OK) ------>This one should be moved to #2, but only if Anti and Ripper are ABSOLUTELY certain that Asylum/Aroma updater script does not issue any dangerous format commands (contact me for detailed explanation - chas)
b) you must flash a safe kernel (see #2) if you have rooted any stock ICS Rom using CWM.zip with superuser and busybox
c) SpeedMod v3 and below, Franco v3 and below
d) old leaked kernels such as LP1, LP5 and LP6
4. What does Aroma Installer do?
Aroma installer helps you customize ROM to suit your requirements, with installation of your choice, from the choices in built in ROM installation.
5. Do I wipe before or after running Aroma Installer?
Always wipe before running Aroma. You will lose all user apps Aroma has installed if you do a
factory reset after the flash is done.
6. Do I need to flash Gapps separately?
Yes
7. Is removed apks.zip a CWM flashable zip file?
No, to avoid bloating of your phone with apps which you may not need, you can copy specific apk file from removed apks.zip and paste it in /system/app, change permissions to rw-r—r--
8. How can I change DPI settings?
Aroma installer provides you an option during installation to choose your preferred dpi between 320, 240, 213 and 160.
If you have installed with one of these setting and wish to change to other, you can use tool like “ROM toolbox lite or pro” (available on play store)
Non standard dpi settings (other than ones mentioned above) may result in improper functioning of some apps & play store
9. How can I change governor & scheduler?
You will have to use a tool like “Set CPU” (available on play store) to unleash options of governor & scheduler that Asylum kernel offers (alternative: you can change governor from Settings/Performance/Processor/CPU Governor, and I/O scheduler using Rom Toolbox/Kernel Tweaks - Rom Toolbox was already recommended for DPI management -chas)
For more information about governor & scheduler, you may refer here. Please thank the OP if you found it helpful
10. Which are compatible kernels with Asylum JB?
Asylum kernel which comes in built with the ROM is the recommended kernel
In case you wish to try other kernels, you may try any CM10 based kernel available on Chasmodo’s kernel repository. Please do not forget to press “Thanks” button if you pick any kernels there ☺
11. What is Full wipe & what is Cache wipe using CWM?
Full wipe :
Step 1. Wipe Data/ Factory reset
Step 2. Wipe Cache partition
Step 3. Advanced – Wipe Dalvik Cache
Full wipe will erase data like applications and application settings etc though user data like media files and external sd card content will be untouched. However, keeping a backup on PC is recommended.
Cache wipe:
Only step 2 & 3 of above
All data including applications and application settings as well as user data will be left untouched, only cache will be cleared.
12. I am on another JB ROM is it safe to flash Asylum JB from there?
Absolutely yes, however we strongly recommend Full wipe option mentioned above if you come from any other ROM other than previous Asylum JB versions (from JB Beta 1 onwards)
13. Can I do a Full wipe and still get my apps after flashing Asylum JB?
Well… Yes. While you are on your previous ROM make a flashable zip of your apps using “App2zip” application (available on play store). Place it securely on your internal sd card ( keeping a back up on PC is recommended). Once you have flashed Asylum JB, simply go in recovery mode and flash the update.zip you would have created earlier OR
You can use Titanium Backup for backup and restore, but we recommend only application restore and not data. For heavy data applications like games, you may want to use restore app+data option but smooth functioning cannot be assured (most users however have found this working well).
14. My external SD card is missing?
Use ES file explorer which comes with Asylum JB
Go in settings
Check the option “Up to root”, press back
In explorer mode click “Up”
You will find ExtSdCard, that’s where contents of your external sd card are
15. Can I use different themes on Asylum JB?
Of course you can… download any compatible theme of your choice from Play Store
Go in System settings - Themes – Theme chooser, choose downloaded them – Select apply
If you are getting a “Theme error”, apply default system theme and then apply downloaded theme, ignore any error message if it shows. This should work 9/10 times, else contact the theme developer and ask him to customize the theme for this wonderful ROM ☺
16. Do applications like S-Note, S-Memo work on this ROM?
NO. Since this ROM has its roots from CM10 and abovementioned apps are Samsung proprietary apps these apps are not and will never work on Asylum JB probably.
Thanks to varied developers, we have able substitution available for most of these apps, if you care to browse play store ☺
17. I cannot connect the Note to my PC as mass storage (USB). What to do?
Nothing. Mass storage connection has been dumped from JB altogether. Use MTP connection
instead.
18. I cannot set my notification toggles. What do I do?
Change your DPI to 320, set the toggles, then change back to ani DPI you prefer and the
toggles will be there.
19. I have a question which has not been answered above?
First of all, thanks for reading entire FAQ list ☺
Come and join us on Asylum JB discussion thread and we will be happy to help you to the best of our knowledge based on inputs (screenshot, logcat etc) provided by you
Sexy.

[ROM] DISCONTINUED 5 JUN [P6800 GSM/3G] SkyHigh XXLQG ICS v4.0.2 [Aroma]]

[ROM] [Aroma] [V6SuperCharged] [P6800 GSM/3G] SkyHigh XXLQG ICS v4.0.2 | 18MAR2013
++ ROM DISCONTINUED ++
P6800 GSM/3G VERSION ONLY
:good: * Now AROMA 100% V6SuperCharged for PERFORMANCE "out-of-the-box" :good:
* I am the creator of SkyHigh ROM for P6810 model and have decided to spare some of my valuable time to further help out our P6800 brothers and sisters. I DO NOT USE THIS DEVICE, and rely on YOU to give constructive feedback (good or bad) and let me know how you went.
* It took A LOT a lot of reading, research and trial & (many) errors to get to this stage, so I hope you like this official release and please rate the thread and my efforts accordingly. I take no claim to any mods in this build, and borrow ideas and tweaks from other sources. I just piece them together to make it work.
* This is a smooth & stable release, and I will endeavour to release future updates ......
* You may modify this ROM for personal use, but I will not answer posts or PM’s regarding any related issues to this other than those options in Aroma Installer . I just don't have the time to debug your own mods or others such as PimpMyROM without device, and in any case, they should be posted in the appropriate thread.

Titanium Backup problems? :
* Try an older version : http://matrixrewriter.com/android/
Aroma Installer Freeze :

* AC!D Audio Mod - Selecting sound enhancments from the walkman menu may FC
* Asus Day Scene live wallpaper has no animations. Please reboot device after "Set wallpaper"
* All ROM functions known to work as released by Samsung
What is the difference between Android builds ie. LP8 → LQG? :

Samsung have released the base firmware with a much higher changelist, meaning, probably some bug/exploit fixes and other "under the hood" improvements

Will flashing this ROM wipe my data? :
* NO it won't wipe your data, but data wipe is a requirement in Aroma to ensure a bug free device. Just backup data and nandroid first.
* Installer will auto wipe : system, cache, dalvik-cache & preload
* If updating from a different ROM or android build/version, it is a requirement that you follow the installation instructions fully in Post #2 and read the notes below it!
Entropy Lag "Fix" :
* I created the script sourced from info here
* No need for using Seeder app and less overhead
* To check it's working :
Run android terminal emulator app
su
entro
You should see a figure around 3600 (possibly more), meaning it's working Normally 200-300
V6SuperCharger is now Aroma Installer option :
* THE COMPLETE MEMORY MANAGEMENT FIX ! – by Elite Dev zeppelinrox
[U9RC12T6]Put a V6 SuperCharger +DIE-HARD Launcher in Your Pocket=She'll B Happy 2CU!
>> PLEASE VISIT HIS THREAD ABOVE FOR ANY QUESTIONS <<
THANK HIM FIRST, THEN READ AND SEARCH SECOND, BEFORE POSTING THERE !
* Latest script : V6_SuperCharger_for_Android-Update9_RC12_Test_6.sh
* XXLQG ROM is now 100% SuperCharged
* The V6SuperCharger scripts and other files are cooked into the ROM and will run on boot
* Selecting V6SuperCharger in Aroma will SuperCharge the ROM out-of-the box. There is no need to touch anything !
* Unless,........ you have flashed a custom kernel after ROM installation. This may "break" V6SuperCharger and fail to run properly. Just run the script again that is saved in the Starter Kit found on your internal sdcard. Script Manager will help take care of that.
* Don’t add your own memory or kernel tweaks or PimpMyROM tweaks etc as this will most likely conflict and reduce performance. In any case V6SuperCharger is the only way to go !! (believe me, I'm been constantly tweaking and testing)
* If you wish to modify V6SuperCharger settings to your own, just use script manager and run the scripts that were installed to: mnt/sdcard/ SuperCharger_Starter_Kit. Don’t ask how, but follow the instructions found in zeppelinrox thread or Google for them.
Requirements for effective running (They are installed together with V6SuperCharger via Aroma Installer, so don't update them) :
* Modded busybox v1.19.4 by and binary BY wraithdu
* Superuser app (SuperSU v0.97 wouldn’t work)
* DO NOT RUN WITH OTHER 3rd PARTY TWEAKS !! Let V6SuperCharger do its thing
* Flashing V6SuperCharger in Aroma will wipe your existing init.d scripts and replace your build.prop tweaks!! Don’t worry, this is all you need
Some info of some installed V6 tweaks (info sourced from zeppelinrox scripts and thread & scripts) :
Die-Hard Launcher : [RC9] ULTIMATIC RC6! [EXE]-=Ultimate Jar Power Tools=-With Maximum MultiTasking Mods!
* Reduced home screen re-draws
* Patched services.jar with improved OOM groupings etc
* Max multi-tasking mods
* Time-killer - changes Android killing apps from 30 mins (even if free RAM avaialable!) to 24 hrs
* Service preserve

* 3G TurboCharger Enhancement! (don't remove as it will break the install routine)
* SD Read Speed Tweak
* ADJ, LMK minfree levels
BulletProof Apps :
* Configure to lock a background app in memory on boot up
KickAss Kernelizer :
* Memory Management++
* Disable normalized sleepers

Miscellaneous build.prop tweaks
Screenshots
Languages :
v4.0.2 XXLQG
* As released by Samsung - Post #371
* Will more language support be added? NO, I am not a translator, and only if the newer base released by Samsung natively supports it !
Video & HDMI out :
* You tell me HDMI out to external display should work as released by Samsung
* Natively, not all video codecs are compatible through stock video player. You may need to install a codec supported video player app from Google Play. Try without the ARMv7 add-on first
* You also need a Galaxy Tab™ HDTV Adapter + HDMI cable + power supply for the tab + HDMI enabled TV or display
Battery Life & Performance :
* Give the ROM time to build its caches and “bed in” etc.
* Battery % reporting may need to be re-calibrated
1. Use your device to NEAR zero % (ie. 2%)
2. Fully recharge uninterrupted
3. Unplug when 100%
* Actual drain really depends on your own configuration, and has nothing to do with this ROM.
Some Tips :
* Lower screen brightness and time-out
* Check apps running in background, unneeded auto-starting apps, auto-sync, GPS, wifi, rogue apps etc
BetterBatteryStats is a good app for checking wakelocks.
* Remove or freeze unwanted System apps (bloatware), disable animations (you will lose CRT off animation until re-enabled), motion etc
Mods & Apps :
* I have not seen or measured any negative impact to ROM performance or stability on my P6810 model (or reported by P6800 User during test phase), so any potential improvement (no matter how slight), is still an improvement.
* Any in-depth discussion is to be addressed in the respected threads, links are in found in the Credits & OP
AC!D Audio Mods :
* AC!D Audio Mod "bug" - Selecting sound enhancments from the walkman menu may FC
* May give better sound from speaker or various quality ear/headphones
1. menu/settings/music effects/music effects control panel → select your equalizer, ie Noozxoide (not for walkman)
2. Check the thread HERE for Q&A
3. Your existing equalizer may not be compatible or cause issues. This should be uninstalled before flashing (but the data wipe should have taken care of that!)
AGPS :
1. Open internet connection
2. Use "GPS Status" app (menu/tools/manage agps state/download) and then wait for first fix.
3. ++ After that, subsequent fixes should be much faster ++
4. Try and see how location locks in Maps

Maybe in future. I will be pursuing further development of all SkyHigh ROMs using and configurable with Aroma installer though. Never say never, but would be very far down on my list.

Not sure what your issue could be as nobody else reported this issue yet . Did you factory reset immediately before flash?
Will take a look at the files later today to see if I made an error somewhere.

nope... i dont have any problem with root access...
Just working on my P6810 ROM, so when done, can transfer a lot of that work here in future releases fairly easily.
Only problem is testing for errors from decompiling / recompiling. So feedback will be needed when the time comes.

[EOL] [KERNEL] [I9300] [Lineage14/CM13,12,11,10/Omnirom] Boeffla-Kernel (28-03-2018)

** Note: This kernel is end-of-life and will no more be maintained. There will be no LineageOS 15.1 or newer kernel be available anymore **
Hi all,
this is the thread about the CM version of the well-known Boeffla-Kernel for the Samsung Galaxy S3 international.
Note: This kernel is only for CM based roms!!! Do not install it on a Samsung based rom!!!
For Omnirom, please do not use the CM kernel but the separate Omnirom kernel I also provide.
Difference NG kernels to normal kernels:
NG = next generation, it does use pure Samsung source codes only, not the smdk4412 kernel sources of the CM or Omnirom team anymore.
If you are unsure whether to use the NG or the normal kernel, I recommend NG kernel always! Try it first if it works fine for you.
For the Samsung Boeffla-Kernel, please go HERE.
If you have questions to settings, presets, others configuration and wanna share your configuration, head over to the unofficial Boeffla-Config App Config sharing thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2621308
Important notes
When using new anykernel concept Boeffla-Kernel: Flash stock kernel of rom first !
Compatibility
Important: This kernel is only meant to be compatible with official Cyanogenmod and nothing else.
So when the kernel does not run on custom rom XYZ, do not even bother me with it or ask hundred times in the thread for compatibility.
I could not care less about it !!
Support
First read the FAQ section on the Homepage !!!
Click here to learn about all possible kernel settings in the config app.
Click here to learn about using the config app.
I will refuse any support if you do any undervolting and experience freezes or hot reboots.
I will also not provide any support if you do not use Boeffla-Config app to tweak the kernel, other 3rd party tweaking apps are known (and intended) to cause issues.
I will refuse to give support if you have xposed framework installed and reporting any kind of weird issues. My opinion to xposed it quite clear: too powerful for >90% of the users that just mess up their system with it.

History
Basically I created the Samsung version of Boeffla-Kernel as there was no kernel for the Samsung Galaxy S3 around that had exactly the mix of functionalities that I wanted. I wanted to have full flexibility in undervolting and charge rates for instance, but did not like the sharpness and/or brightness tweaks many kernels have implemented as per default.
Hence, I began to create my own kernel after a while, adding all the features I like. This is the result of my work, which in the end I decided to share with you. I hope you like it as much as I do.
The objective of this kernel is to have a kernel for daily use. It does not aim for best battery life, or best smoothness or best benchmark scores. It aims more for a good mix of all, not sacrificing stability and functionality in the end.
And - most important: It aims to stay quite close to stock !!! Which in fact for the CM kernel means now... close to CM kernel sources.
This said, I will definitely NEVER implement:
dual boot (I do not need it)
color "calibration" (I do not like it, but I like the crispy stock colours)
real hard overclocking higher than 1600 MHz as this is outside of Exynos specs
f2fs - it is known to cause various issues and compatibility problems
a CAF based kernel
anything that requires upstreaming of kernel parts to a higher kernel major version
So do not even ask for it. Everything else I am happy to check and decide.
Compatibility
To reiterate it again: This kernel is only for CM10.1 and CM10.2 based firmwares. It is not designed to run on Samsung based roms!
Configuration of the kernel
To tweak and configure the kernel, manually load and install the app "Boeffla-Config V2" from the downloads section on www.boeffla.de.

You will receive a personal donation code which unlocks some nice comfort functions in Boeffla-Config V2 on top.

Credits to developers
Of course, I had never been able to create all that by my own. So I want to give credits to the really good developers around, that have given me all the inspiration and from which I cherry picked lots of the implemented functionalities:
* Yank555
* ZaneZam
* Hardcore
* Chainfire
* Harunjo
* AndreiLux
* Netarchy
* Gokhanmoral
* Simone201
* Supercurio
* Mialwe

... I just hope I did not forget someone. If so, please let me know and I will add you of course.
Thanks to all of you for your great work !!!

*** As always - Flash on our own risk! ***
Make sure you flash the correct version depending on your firmware version!
I can and will not take any responsibility for bricked phones or lost data.
It is generally recommended to run a complete Nandroid backup in CWM recovery and safely store your personal data before you flash a new kernel.

*** You want my support? Then stick to my rules ***
Guys, I am receiving more and more completely useless support requests in different threads. Useless because people provide nothing to be able to help, not even the minimal possible information they could give.
Hence, I will now remind anyone again on the support guide lines stated here:
http://boeffla.de/index.php/support/support
Also you need to ensure you follow the installation guide lines incl. trouble-shooting stated here:
http://boeffla.de/index.php/support/installation-how-to
And to cut a long story short: If you do not at least provide what I request in the support guide lines, I will IGNORE YOUR REQUESTS IN FUTURE.
Straight and simple. I have enough of people wasting my time just because they are too lazy to write details.
Period.
Also as a reminder:
you use xposed? -> no support, everything is your own issue
you use a custom rom and not the official stock or CM one? -> good luck, you are on your own
you undervolt or overclock? -> have fun, but without my support
Sorry, this might sound harsh (and it is meant to sound harsh), but you cannot imagine about how crappy support requests can be. Stating something does not work is just not enough.
Please consider that!!!
Andi
FINALLY. I can experience everything that is boeffla in both worlds. Incredible job, Andi.
All 4 zram swaps are set to different priorities. They should all share the same priority to be of any use beyond what a single swap partition can do... I'm using alpha16 cm10.2 kernel..

Holy crap, I bet my mind will be totally blown in the nearest future before the final decision between the upcoming boeffla kernel & temasek with boeffla..
Hi to all the alpha testers with the dropbox link: I have reuploaded alpha16 for CM10.2, with the swap priorities fixed now.
I will compile 10.1 tomorrow, same goes for load&flash - this will be updated tomorrow. So if you want to try, take it from dropbox directly.
Will drop off for today, was a long and busy day
Cheers

Cm10.2-alpha16-v2 working beautifully . all zram devices balancing nicely.
Great work man. Keep it up.
On small request, could you make the number of zram devices configurable as well as a configurable swappiness. I'm thinking that 2 devices may be the sweet spot for CPU cycles/performance if it infact uses one thread (core) per block device. Leaving the other 2 core asleep but still having multi threaded zram. Hope its not to much of an ask. Thanks

arter97's Linaro-built CyanogenMod 10.1.3 based ROM V4 for Galaxy S3 [Android 4.2.2]
* Tux is a penguin character and the official mascot of the Linux kernel.
* Above character is a redesigned Tux by @irendah07
● "What is this?"
'this' is a custom ROM built for Galaxy S3 based on CyanogenMod 10.1.3 code.
The main differences are 'Optimizations' and 'Features'.
I'm a huge fan of stock AOSP and I developed this without screwing up stock CyanogenMod's feeling.
You won't find any major UI differences.
I know that this article is very long. Please take your time on reading this.
You should at least know what this ROM offers you. Right?
● Features
Performance improvements & optimizations
- Built with latest Linaro stable toolchain with lots of optimizations flags
- Built with latest Java Development Kit(JDK) - (7u45)
- All *.jar, *.apk files within the ROM are uncompressed, zipaligned for maximum read speeds
- Optimized all images within the ROM by image_optim
- fstrim, remount all partitions with discard option on boot
- FSTRIM is performed while installing
- Optimize all /system, /cache, /data partitions with journal_data_writeback while installing
- Use Exynos optimized memcpy, memset
- Light build.prop optimizations
New features
- ListView animation by team ThinkingBridge (ignore others credit. This was originally designed and coded by ThinkingBridge)
- Camera Shutter Sound control
- Status-bar Quick Peek with Timeout control
- Status-bar transparency control with seperate Lock-screen transparency from Carbon
- 0% transparency on notification icons (icons on the status-bar are basically clearer)
- HALO from ParanoidAndroid (not 2.0)
- Screenshot Quick Trash
- Improved download/upload animation (just go to market and download anything)
- Vertical Electron-beam animation
- Animation scale in Development settings now has additional 0.6x ~ 0.9x (for those who thinks 0.5x is too fast and 1.0x is too slow)
- f2fs supported installation (for those who uses f2fs file-system on /system like me)
- Multitasking UI is now fullscreen
- LED notification behavior is same as CyanogenMod 10.1.0 (turn off the screen, the LED will go off)
- bootanimation is from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2429613
- Removed CMstats, CMupdater
- Full, proper exFAT, NTFS support
- No kernel is included in this build since kernels doesn't support gcc 4.8 out-of-the-box.
- Gesture based lockscreen security
- Pinch to enable expanded desktop added to Trebuchet (go to Settings->Launcher->General)
- AOKP custom system animations (go to Settings->System->AOKP Custom System Animations)
- added ADB over network QuickSettings Tile
- back-to-kill timeout control by neighbors28 from DokDo ROM
- DMB functionality for SHV-E210S, SHV-E210K (needs kernel-side support)
● What you need to know
- Even with all of those changes above, you still won't find any major UI differences.
- Linaro toolchain offers many optimizations than the stock Google's toolchain.
Also, the latest gcc 4.8 is used. Basically, this ROM has gcc 4.8 + Linaro optimizations.
Optimization flags includes : -w -s -pipe -O3 -marm -munaligned-access -mcpu=cortex-a9 -mtune=cortex-a9 -march=armv7-a -mfloat-abi=softfp -mfpu=neon -fno-unsafe-math-optimizations -mvectorize-with-neon-quad -fgcse-lm -fgcse-sm -fsched-spec-load -fforce-addr -fno-tree-vectorize -fno-tree-slp-vectorize -fno-defer-pop -fmerge-constants -fmerge-all-constants -fgcse-after-reload -fno-unsafe-loop-optimizations -fomit-frame-pointer -finline-functions -funswitch-loops -fpredictive-commoning -fivopts
-ffast-math has been explicitly disabled due to causing major and minor problems here and there across the entire ROM.
- Java Development Kit(JDK) 7 offers more stable, secure and optimized result than previous versions.
The latest 7u45 has been used.
- image_optim(https://github.com/toy/image_optim) is an image optimizer.
It can reduce image's size up to 95%. It will make the image load faster.
image_optim has, literally, took 26 hours to optimize the entire ROM.
- Uncompressed *.jar, *.apk will result in faster read speeds and reduce CPU loads by skipping decompression unlike any other ROMs out there.
It, of course, will use more space than stock CyanogenMod ROMs.
This ROM + optimized gapps will use about 680 MB in size.
- FSTRIM is a trim-like functionality on SSDs.
http://www.xda-developers.com/android/yet-another-reason-to-update-to-android-4-3-trim-support
- No kernel is included in this build since kernels doesn't support gcc 4.8 out-of-the-box.
Please use other 3rd-party kernel or stock CyanogenMod 10.1's boot.img.
- journal_data_writeback is an option to EXT4 partitions.
It will write datas to RAM first and flush it later. It will increase write speed dramatically.
- ListView is originally designed and coded by the team ThinkingBridge and can be controlled from Settings -> System.
Other ROM devs mostly has their credit written wrong. Please give proper credit to the original author!
- Camera Shutter Sound can be controlled from Settings -> Sound.
Please note that disabling the Camera Shutter Sound can be illegal in some areas.
- Status-bar transparency is cherry-picked from Carbon ROM and can be controlled from Settings -> Status Bar.
Lock-screen transparency has its separate control.
- HALO is cherry-picked from neighbors28's Github who ported HALO to DokDo ROM from ParanoidAndroid.
Credit goes to neighbors28 and other DokDo ROM developers and ParanoidAndroid ROM developers.
(Unfortunately, HALO included in this ROM is not 2.0 yet. Maybe not forever.)
- Light build.prop optimizations only has :

● FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)
Q : What is Linaro and why should I care about them?
A : Linaro is a not-for-profit engineering organization consolidating and optimizing open source Linux software and tools for the ARM architecture. It's widely known to provide the best optimized toolchain sets for arm-eabi and Android. Not only can it bring more faster binary, it can also bring stable, more bug-fixed binary as well. I care compiler optimizations more than the Android source code itself. Since compiler optimizations can speed up the same source code up to 5x, I hunted a lot for the best optimization flags available for Android. As a result, this ROM is speedier, more reliable than other ROMs that uses stock Google's toolchain.
Q : What about Linaro 4.9?
A : Linaro toolchain is built on the official GNU's code. Since GNU hasn't even finished on gcc 4.9 yet, Linaro 4.9 can be considered unstable. I'll work on it when GNU officially releases gcc 4.9.
Q : Can you teach me how to build ROM using Linaro toolchain?
A : There are tutorials of how to build ROM using Linaro toolchain on XDA already. Google is your friend.
Q : Is this ROM open source?
A : For selective parts, yes. Framework and Settings are available on http://bitbucket.org/arter97 . Don't repo init towards my repository. It doesn't have all repositories for full ROM build.
Q : No plans for CyanogenMod 10.2?
A : Yes, I do have plans on rebasing on CyanogenMod 10.2. I'm waiting for CyanogenMod 10.2's source code becoming bit more stabilized.
Q : Can I install your ROM on top of CyanogenMod 10.2 without factory reset?
A : No. Upper versions of Android's data are not compatible with older versions. You have to do a full data wipe in order to install my ROM on top of CyanogenMod 10.2.
Q : I got stuck on Galaxy SIII logo HELP!!!
A : Let me say it again, this ROM DOES NOT includes any kernel. Since kernel built with gcc 4.8 doesn't boot at all, I decided to remove kernel out of this ROM. Please use other kernel.
Q : What is F2FS?
A : F2FS (Flash-Friendly File System) is a flash file system created by Kim Jaegeuk at Samsung for the Linux operating system kernel. I use a custom-kernel that has F2FS support and I use my /system, /cache, /data with F2FS. F2FS support on this ROM is mainly for me Please don't ask me how to use F2FS.
Q : Some app crashes!
A : I won't get any sort of bug reports on app crashing on my ROM. My ROM uses Linaro and it can break some compatibility between userspace applications. Popular example, Handcent SMS. And it will not be fixed.

added AOKP custom system animations (go to Settings->System->AOKP Custom System Animations)
fixed SHV-E210 variant's Airplane mode switch issues
Gallery2: reduce the latency between cam&camcorder switch
partial KO translations by lion0738

Revert Vold changes from Android 4.3; it may cause external SDcard mounting errors resulting in com.android.media force closes.
Added 01fstrim to init.d to replace Vold functionality of fstrim (remounts partitions with discard option, fstrim /system, /data, /cache; checkout adb logcat | grep arter97)
Focal has been removed; please download it from Google Play
Superuser deamon has been removed to provide more free resource to the system
added "Gesture based lockscreen security"
apns-conf.xml updated for SHV-E210
disabled additional MMS patch for SHV-E210 since it was causing SMS sending errors
back-to-kill timeout adjusted to 0.75s
misc Trebuchet changes to improve responsiveness
Pinch to enable expanded desktop added to Trebuchet (go to Settings->Launcher->General)
- V1 : initial release
Known issues
● Known issues
- As of V2, CMAccount has been added and it can cause FC loop on initial setup for some users.
After clicking like crazy, OK button on the FC message, you will be able to bypass the FC.
Sorrt for the inconvenience! But it looks like a source-code issues up from CyanogenMod

1 question : is navbar included with removal of 3-dot menu overflow button ?
if not, then please add it, and fix bug that 3-dot menu overflow button doesn't go off when nav bar is enabled.
this bug in all cm10.1 roms.

Navbar is not included at all. (And I don't have it planned)
If you want to enable it, you have to do a build.prop trick.
Can you give me a open-source ROM address that has that 3-dot fixed?
Thank you for this ROM! Can you tell me if the ROM has a good camera (like no FC etc bugs etc) and also if there are any graphic glitches etc like some other CM roms?
Thanks again for your work!

What you've asked is identical to official CyanogenMod 10.1.3.
As of a personal experience, I haven't had any issues with the stock Camera app.
Graphic glitches are barely noticeable.
(Not like early CM-10.2 stage)

A dumb question. Why based on 10.1? CM ditched 10.1 alltogether? Why not move to 10.2, it's stable now, and the glitches are gone? I'd love to try your rom, the feature list is amazing (I really want to try F2FS) as soon as you move to 10.2 CM base.

Because I want "stability".
If CyanogenMod 10.2 is stable, they would already put a "M", "RC", or "stable" tag.
They didn't.
I consider it unstable at the moment.
It's a quite big pain in the a** to build a ROM that's based on nightly since I'm not good on maintaining Git.
But, I do understand you.
If I have more free time, I'll try to
About F2FS, it's a serious journey both to you and the device.
Of course you need a FULL device wipe and you need an appropriate kernel, ROM and recovery.
What this means is you are stuck using one kernel, one ROM, one recovery.
(version may vary)
I make all three of them so I am free to use F2FS on my device.
But you, sometimes, may want to try other? Then you are in big trouble.
If you want your life to be more easier to live, I recommend not to try so
