[Q] Does not turn on? - Captivate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I tried flashing back to stock using Odin but it seemed like the program froze as nothing was happening. I unplugged and tried to go back into download mode and the phone stays with a black screen. I tried all button combinations to go into any possible mode and the phone does not reply.
Is it bricked? =(

Phone not turning on

I was about to use Odin to return to stock but it froze on the download screen. So I turned it off and now when I turn it on all I see is a phone symbol, a danger sign, and a pc symbol. I can't get any further than that. Please help.
If the normal button/usb combos are not working to get your phone back into recovery or download mode, you will likely need to use a jig.
Yeah I tried everything... Doesn't want to get into download mode. Just stays at the phone!pc screen.

[Q] Can't boot

Hi guys,
i've got a problem here. I'm running Darky's 9.2 and it has suddenly stopped working. Pulled the phone of my pocket and it looked like it was booting, but it just kept booting. When i connect it to power it just displays the battery and the spinner for a few seconds and then the screen goes black again and the process repeats over and over. Just tried to connect it to Odin to go back to stock. I can go into download mode, but only for a few seconds. It won't stay in download mode. Any help?
try do a full reset in recovery.. then leave the battery out for 5-10 mins. then try download mode again
I can't get into recovery.
Volume up + home + power doesn't work.
I've left the battery out for over an hour. Still nothing...
same thing happend to me when i was on darkys 8.1 these thing happen when your using custom roms can you get in to download mode so you can reflash to stock rom
Only for a few seconds. After that it does the battery thing again.
Looks like you need the jig or to take it to a service centre but they may well charge as its out of warranty .
jje
The jig? Afraid so yeah

In the past I would get into recovery that way but now on custom rom I need to release the power button when the galaxy s logo appears. Maybe give that a try.

I did, doesn't work.
It also never really shuts down. It just keeps booting.
If i remove the battery and plug it back in after a while it automatically starts the loop again.

[Q] Help! Semi-bricked and no download mode

I've got a stock Captivate running Gingerbread 2.3.3, Was trying to root with Odin and i897uckf1 design gears. Flash completed, phone rebooted and became stuck in a power loop. 1st to AT&T screen, then to Rogers screen and finally loaded to lock screen but then it would turn off and start all over again. After 10 minutes, I removed the battery, reinserted but still stuck in the power loop.
Next, I got it into download mode and tried to flash back to stock with how to from this page http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=731989.
Now my phone will not go into download or reset mode. It will just loop the At&T screen. When I plug in the usb cable it loops a discharged battery icon.
I've tried all button combos to get into download mode without success. Am I screwed?
HELP!!!

I'd try making a jig/ or buying one. Instructions on this forum.
Tabbajit,
Right click, run as adminstrator Odin first. Pull ur battery, connect usb end of cable to computer (port on back of computer), connect micro usb end to phone, then insert battery (replace cover). U should b in download mode. (If not then u may need jig as stated above).
Do not use the Odin with the 3 button fix or u may hard brick ur phone.

Hey guys. Thanks for your help. Managed to get things going again with the Jig. Took most of the day but got Rooted Gingerbread running 100%. Lost all my apps and info along the way though. What backup are you guys using for Apps, SMS, etc?

[Q] bricked tab after odin "success" message

i've tried to flash my tab using odin and overcome stock safe (first step on their guide). everything went ok in odin, got a green success message. but now, my tab won't turn on or do anything at all. the only response I get is after pressing the turn-on button and then the screen sort of lights up but nothing else.
Have you tried reentering download mode and flash again?
Maybe first time you did something wrong and now have to reflash a stock rom. See "How to unbrick" threads for details
hey
I can't get it into download mode at all. just the backlit screen thing

Try getting into recovery, DO wipe/factory reset, clear cache, reboot... (search how to do it, can tell you, but better U search and find out)
can't do that either. I tried power button + vol up / down combo, but all i get is a backlit screen that turns off the second i release the power button
edit: not sure if its a regular brick, but what happens is this: I press the power button for about 3 seconds, the back light goes on but that's it. if i leave the button the light goes off
Does your PC recognize the Tab in that condition, if yes, connect thru Odin and flash again or try flashing overcome kernel atleast..
nope i've tried to connect it using USB but got no connection
Is your Tab fully charged ?? Try to charge it for a couple of hours and if it turns on, enter the download mode and try again. But please make sure to charge the tab.....just in case.
Good luck
yes, it was fully charged. anyway, i was able to open it up, unplug and replug the battery, but now it does nothing. doesn't light up, doesn't respond to charging or connecting to PC

bricked?

I was trying to go back to stock after having Lineage installed but it crapped out during the install. The tablet is now stuck on the SAMSUNG logo screen and it seems impossible to do anything to get around it. The only button combo options that work are power+vol down which reboots and power+vol down +home which puts it into download mode. I've tried reloading the stock firmware and twrp using Odin but it always results in the same, the tablet reboots then goes to the standard android update screen, says it's doing an update and then reboots and it's back to the SAMSUNG screen. Nothing I do gets me into recovery and while Odin connects I can't get ADB etc to.
Any suggestions other than throw it in a drawer and forget about it?
TIA
Ok I got further. I left the tablet for the battery to die, then fully charged it, plugged into the PC and then started with the recovery key combo and bingo got the No Command screen then the standard recovery options. Deleted the cache and did a factory delete/reset and it's alive again.
