Disappearing keyboard... - HD7 General

Hi,
Has anyone found an actual fix for the disappearing keyboard fault on the HD7?
I don't know if there're any more models being affected, but I've had to buy an Android phone to replace my HD7 whilst my O2 contract keeps getting paid for an unusable phone.
I know it improves if I switch off background apps, but what is the point of turning live tiles into dead tiles?
I've also tried custom Rom's but they also have the same problem. And I've also tried limiting the fault by tracing each application one at a time, but no luck.
I am thoroughly appalled by the latest MS phone OS after being a long time Windows Mobile user, and, as in the past, I hope someone on XDA can provide a real repair.
Thx...

you had too little patience
fixing for it started to roll out yesterday and already some cooked rom has it

Look for roms with OS 8107, that is new update to fix the issue.

Q: system diagnostic tools?

Hi,
I just dropped my phone. So far all still working nicely but I'm quite paranoid
Is there any apps or tool to diagnose our nexus one. Just checking if all system devices working properly (GPS, wifi, radio, touch screen, etc)
Cheers,

If it isn't a problem, don't make it into one. Just keep an eye on it, and watch for problems...

I spent half an hour to check my phone.
You would want to know as soon as possible if there's any devices damage, wouldn't you?
Is android system throws some informative message if there is hardware failure?

There's different apps to test the performance of different things (like network speeds), but I don't know of any all in one app that test things to make sure they are working...?

I used sony ericsson walkman phone before android. They have some secret menu that allows you to check screen, vibrate, keys test, sounds, etc
Is there anything like that on android?

anyone found one yet?
Old thread, but it came up in a Google search and it doesn't look like anyone's covered this elsewhere in this group.
Dropped my N1 over the weekend, and this morning noticed it's losing network & data regularly, and only connecting 2G, not 3G or 4G. Ugh. Hoping it's just sunspots, but it would be nice to be able to run diagnostics that test the various systems for any failures or out of spec values.
I've unlocked my N1 and am running cyanogenmod 7.2 if that helps.
Check out this link, it might have some useful apps:
http://www.androidzoom.com/android_applications/hardware+test
thanks!
Thanks for the link, I'll take a closer look at those.
The good news (?) is that it turns out T-Mobile had a data network outage for most of the day today. They buried it on their support website behind an east coast outage report for last weekend's heavy weather, so I didn't see it. Big thank you to All Things D for clueing me in, and I'm reinstalling my apps now.

[Q] Skype on tmobile htc hd7

Hi, I am looking for a way to put Skype on tmobile htc hd7
Thanks
...wait until mango, 2011 .
Cannot wait for skype myself either like loads of others I bet.
With the recent announcement of Nokia bringing Ovi maps and their support to Windows 7 I think we are going to start seeing the gaps filled in pretty quickly which is pleasing.

Try Voxofon they have a WP7 app and you could use their service to make calls on skype until you get the official one
well HD7...with 7.5 mango....does nada why ? cause android is so much more advanced
kind of hard to skype with no front facing cam on the HD7...... kind of defeats the purpose

HTC Sound Optimization

When HTC Sound Enhancer failed under Mango we lost a great tool but I hear its replacement has been released - HTC Sound Optimization. Apparently its in the US Marketplace (but not NZ).
Has anyone got their hands on it?
Can anyone tell me where to get it?
Anyone tried it? On pdaimatejam's wonderful ROM?

Did the soundenhancer ever work for you? Have I missed something?
For me, everytime I started him, the biggest use I could get from him was the pushing of the max. volume, but that effect ended after every track.
The app never really "enhanced" the sound for me.
Sound Enhanced pulled out marketplace since Mango released.... not support Mango
Sound Enhancer WAS pulled but Sound Optimization is the Mango REPLACEMENT. Many articles online about it, and that is why I want I want to try it if anyone can direct me to or supply it!

I looking for this too. Actually in Polish Marketplace it doesn't appear. Anyone have an xap of it?
I've only found articles and whatnot. but i never have actually found it. i spent one whole day just searching for that. but if you figure out how to work the old enhancer, its good enough. to really tell the difference you gotta use headphones
Still no luck myself but will post if I find it!

What if some one flashes a mango rom. and then brand it like a surround or hd7 and try to get it.
My HD2 identifies as an HD7 but doesn't recognise the update is available

Hey, I don't want to open up a new thread.
So, I'm asking here - is there anyone with the new XAP of HTC Sound Optimization as is the old Sound Enhancer is now called?
I'm using Intrinsinc, I'm seeing the Attentive phone app, but not the Sound Enhancer/Sound Optimization app.
Regards,
Alex.
If there was we'd have posted it. I haven't found it or been prompted to update to it (Ansar ROM)

Android on Nokia lumia 620

Hello I am just asking if I can flash my Nokia lumoa620 to android if no tell why if yes tut or link please thank u
No you can't. There are no Drivers for the Hardware, no one has bothered to work on it and the most likely reason is that all WP8 devices use SecureBoot to make sure only signed OS code gets executed on the Hardware which (at the Moment at least) prevents any Kind of CustomROMs.
The Windows Mobile days are over. No Windows Phone device has ever been able to run another OS and it's likely to stay that way.

Did you search for apps carefully? Because many apps have the same content like android but the app is called differently.

Nope. Windows devices are all protected and encrypted to hell and back. You'd be better off getting a separate Android device (consider a Nexus device, those are cheap and good for their cost), or finding replacement apps for WinPhone.

Yes, we heard of that. And it's not a Windows Phone device! It originally ran Windows Mobile (which is something completely different than Windows Phone) and was hacked to run other operating systems like android, and even Windows 8
The only reason the HD2 lasted so long, was because @coutulla was behind the hood. He had done everything he possibly wanted on that device. With him not interested in Windows Phone, you all can just wait for HTC and MS to work out the kinks for dual-boot phones. Go to WPCentral to figure out your self. My only remark: Nokia devices will not be able to run android, or vice versa, misc phones e.g. Motorola Droids will not run WP8. WP8 is device specific, while Android can float around a little more easy, but both Android and Windows Phone is dependent on the cellular radio and device specific drivers. It's a can 'o worms that we don't want to mess with, and the one that can to this type of work are going away from Windows Phone. Anyways, I'm not sure what ultrashot has been up to these days.
HD2 (Leo) was a Windows Mobile device (WinMo 6.5 was retroactively rebranded Windows Phone, but it bears no resemblance to the WP line). Although WP7 was successfully ported to the Leo, the hardware actually did not conform to the chassis specification for the OS; calling it a "Windows Phone device" is therefore more than a little disingenuous. Besides, even among WinMo devices, the Leo was absurdly multi-OS capable; most mobile devices are lucky if they ever get two different OS families running on them. Leo had WinMo, WP7, Android, desktop Linux, and a handful of others as well; the fact that this is notable makes it the exception which proves the rule that generally, it's not possible.

And only think that the bigger part of cotulla's projects weren't public released (windows embedded compact 7, apple stuff and so on ) I wonder what he is doing now..and where is the DFT (probably they are working on htc one). Anyway, I think that a dual boot between android and WP8 is not possible because of UEFI..android doesn't have it so it's impossible to make it boot if on the phone there's WP8. Cotulla made a long chain to make it possible: HSPL-MAGLDR(to run android)-UEFI MAGLDR(to run WP8) And HTC or any other manufacter will do something like that. Windows asked HTC to give a choice (Android OR windows phone)..I think that HTC refused because Microsoft asked even to Huawei and Samsung in any chase HTC is failing, probably will close soon..
Why are you doing this,Android is not smooth,I hate it,so I buy a windows phone to instead HTC Desire.

And what about now ? still nothing?
Recently My bank put a App online, and this the only way that I can deal with my bank and the App is only for iOS or Android...and dont really want to buy anything else
In my country, few people every day bombard bank mail with demand for WP app and after one year we got bank app for WP8... You never get Android on WP device. Forget it.

Bad idea to use Nexus One as primary phone?

So I just lost my phone. While I shop and research for a replacement I was thinking of using my old Nexus One. Software is version 2.3.6.
Is this is really stupid idea from a security point of view, or is the software so old that the bad guys have long ago moved on?
I wouldn't be too concerned, I still slap a sim in older phones then this from time to time for fun - the vast majority of security issues will need you to let someone in, ie install a bad app or download something malicious
In truth it is not a simple thing to find a way into an one individuals phone without their consent
Are there possibilities? Sure, but so unlikely

Thanks demkantor. I figured it is easier to just play with an old phone for a week or so vs. doing all the work of loading up a temporary phone.
Cheers...
I also do not think about "bad idea". It's always the user in front and not the tool or software that make something "insecure".
It's fun because I bought a Nexus One again, yesterday, to give it a try again after the years. It was and is a wonderful piece of hardware.
Greetings,
Christian
