[Q] Hulu on vB2.8 ODEXED - CM7 XRON-ified - TouchPad Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I just installed XRONified_vB2.8_Odex-bloat Rom on my HP touchpad and I can't get Hulu (non plus) to work. I get the Hulu is not supported on your platform message. Can someone tell me how to get it to work?
Thanks,
Topp12

Uninstall flash and install the one here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1355783
Don't need the app.

Thanks that worked. I think I tried it before, but I didn't do a reset. After that it worked.
Topp12

Thanks for that. Love my hulu

Well I upgraded to the 2.9 XRON and now Hulu doesn't work for me. If anyone is on 2.9 can you see if it works for you?
Thanks,
Topp12

same thing as before - uninstall flash using titanium backup and install from previous link.
Working fine for me on 2.9

Thnks Rogabean!

Not sure what I am doing wrong. I tried that before I posted.
I removed flash using Titanium backup, then installed from the link you posted. Did you reserve after you remove and it after the new install?
Thanks,
Topp12

I have no idea what I am doing wrong. I even tried reinstalling 2.9 and still couldn't get it to work. I must be missing something.

I uninstalled flash, rebooted, installed new flash, rebooted, and all works fine for my Hulu plus apk.

I used TB to uninstall. It forced TP to reboot. I then installed updated flash, but hulu still doesn't work. I think its an isolated issue for a few people. Gonna try clearing caches...
"A little nonsense, now and then, is relished by the wisest men."

Is this a known issue in 2.9.1? I seem to remember hulu plus working fine in earlier builds.
I get the error "you seem to be having network issues" when loading the first ad before a video.
I can play videos in the browser just fine using the fixes from earlier, but hulu app wont work past the ads.
"A little nonsense, now and then, is relished by the wisest men."

I can't say that it is only a 2.91 issue since I have not been able to get hulu to work wife I updated to 2.9. Also now I noticed that ESPN videos don't work either.
Topp12

There is a thread in the touchpad themes and apps that helps with Julie. I had to use their modified lib file. It is on page 3 of the thread.

For the Hulu Plus app, the following works for me. Just make sure you restore APP+DATA under Titanium Backup.

Insufficient Storage Available

Hi All,
I got the above error when trying to perform market update for following applications:
1) Fring
2) N1 Torch Light
However, I still have 55% left for my internal memory and 58% for my SD memory. The strange thing is I still can download and install new apps.
My phone is rooted with latest CyanogenMod installed. I think the problem only started today after I had done the below:
1) Download a "build.prop" and push to my phone
2) This item claims to improve the HSDPA speed
3) After installed and tested no different
4) Then I extracted the "build.prop" from Cyanogen zip file and push back to my phone
I'm not sure whether this problem is related to the above but my other function is working fine. I even tried to reboot my phone and still same problem :-(
Same problem here on both bakedgoods 1.1 and desire a16 just started happening today. Same apps as well.

Same issue happened to me. Solved it by uninstalling both fring and n1 torch and then installing the new version... Works after that...

Yours also happened to Fring and N1 torch? I just wonder will it happen to others apps as well (which needed to update too) and I don't think is a good idea to always need uninstall and install again
happening on 5.0.4.1 with torch. for kicks I uninstalled another app and tried to update torch again. no luck.
completely uninstalling torch and then installing the new version solved my problem.
There was no way I was out of space seeing as I have a 2gb partition on my sd card for apps

2gb?? Damn, man. Well, that's a definitive indication you're in NO WAY out of space (I hope). I've run into this problem too. An uninstall/reinstall always fixes it for me, as well. But the other day it happened with RDC by xtralogic. Now, that's no N1 Torch in terms of setup, so I just backed-up the currently installed (old) version via Titanium...then: Market>RDC>Uninstall>Reinstall>Titanium>Restore>RemoteDesktop>Data Only
Worked like a charm.
Mine just started doing this with Nimbuzz and Smart Keyboard Pro...
All I did was install a fresh CM 5.0.5.1 (Full wipe) and then did a Tittanium app backup..
EDIT Unistall / reinstall and all is fine...
Turn on the app2sd from the 'Settings - applications - apps2sd'

Yeah I got the error and for kicks, increased my partition from 512->2gb and still got the error
That error is misleading, it happens or certain apps only.
To update: uninstall and then install those apps.
Has anyone found a fix that doesn't require uninstalling and reinstalling the app? For the most part, that works fine, but for one of my games, I lose all my progress if I do this. I've tried backing the game up via Titanium backup, uninstalling, installing the new version, then restoring data only from Titanium, but that just seems to make the new version crash back to Launcher every time I try to start it. Starts just fine if I don't restore the data, but then I lose all my progress.
The game actually runs fine for me on the version I have installed, so I don't really need to update, but it gets a little old having the market constantly telling me that I should update it.

Back it up with titanium back up. Uninstall it. Reinstall from Market. Then use Titanium Backup to restore data only for that app.
Happening with the latest shake them all. Sadly, the 30 seconds I spent setting it up has to be repeated

As mentioned, I've tried that. For some reason, restoring the data from the previous version causes the new version to crash on start up every time.
This thread really helped me. Do we know if Google is looking into this problem/bug?
Turn on the app2sd from the 'Settings - applications - apps2sd'
I try it and now i can install App from Market. Thank you.

I tend to get this problem after doing a app restore using Titanium
Not quite sure what specifically does it though!

[Q] Decad3nce's 1.1r2 Youtube/Market Broken?

Hey,
So to get to this point I flashed the entire device back to stock 1.01, setup the BN account, rooted with Monster, setup youtube/gmail/market and tested. Everything works fine. I then used CWM to install the update to 1.1. Everything seems to work except that the market fails to connect and youtube just closes upon opening. I tried to fix the permissions, but that didn't resolve it. I also tried installing the Vendor.apk, but just keep getting a message about an invalid cert. Any ideas?
Yes had the same issues with R2 and also the touchscreen worked very strangely.
So went to a backup and loaded R1, that worked great.
I had the same problem. This fixed it for me:
1. Restore to stock 1.0.1 (Don't go from 1.0)
2. Register with B&N
2. Use latest autonooter
3. After you sign in to Youtube as instructed and get Market working, reboot
4. After you reboot, you'll notice that Market works, but Youtube force closes (I think this is where the problem is)
5. Uninstall Youtube (Clear Data first), and then install the signed Youtube .apk
6. After Youtube is working, then you can apply the prerooted 1.1 update.
After many frustrating hours of trying to get Market and Youtube to work, this is what worked the first time for me
I never did R2 but did do R1. My market worked fine but youtube didn't.
Anyway, if you have Titanium Backup then go in there and delete the cache from Youtube. Then go back and log into Youtube like you did with the original Autonooter setup. I think this will fix both. At least it got Youtube to work on mine
And if that didn't work for some reason try removing Youtube and installing it from the apk somewhere around page 20 of the thread.

The apk or the flashable install? The only apk I found wasn't signed correctly. I tried clearing the cache, but still no go. Just closes immediately.
I would try the flashable one. I did push the apk on mine but I think I later delete it. Besides I think the apk was the exact same as the one I had on there
I really think deleting the cache from Titanium Backup is what did it for me. Of course if you don't have it then getting it without the market makes it a little harder
Also try logging in with gmail and then going to the market. I see where one person said that fixed that for him. You might try gtalk. I just remember seeing the post and didn't have the issue myself
Some more info for you
Never tried this but if you're still having problems after all the stuff above with youtube then you may try removing data\data\com.google.android.youtube\shared_prefs That's what someone on page 5 of the thread recommended. I think I would just copy it off the nook and then remove it to see if it works
And if nothing else works with the market then there's a flashable vending app on page 24.
Not to threadjack but has anyone see an issue with DropBox with r1/r2 of this sideload? It just hangs on downloading and never does, evening erroring out.

These and lots more grievances are described in my blog. Decad3nce answered to me that whatever my experience with r1 is irreproducible to him, then recognizes he used "wrong" kernel, decided to put signed_YouTube into his ROM r2 -- instead of more stable HQ YouTube I proposed a month ago. There's tons more of broken stuff both in r1 and r2, I won't quote the whole list here. Staying on 1.0.1 with fake build.prop is probably the best way to deal with 1.1.0 "upgrade".

I don't know, but the youtube app for me when I goto certain youtube videos displays an HQ logo topright at beginning. Does that not mean HQ is working?
What else for you is broken. You state tons and yet with the exception of the XDA app and LCD density (which I suspect is more due to the B&N changes than his 1.1), everything works as good or better than on 1.0.1

How do I clear the data and uninstall the Youtube apk? It's now a system app and doesn't show up under "manage apps" I tried installing it again as an update but that didn't work. I uninstalled the update, but it still shows up under my "Extras". It just fails to open.
Market and Gmail are working fine.

USB debugging doesn't work with this update. It keeps turning off which is a real pain in the butt. That on top of the XDA app being borked was enough for me to restore my old build.
USB Debugging and Market....
I found usb debugging turned itself off once connected to PC so I'm using adb over wifi for the moment. Otherwise, USB Debugging can keep itself running without problem and button savior works fine.
The newer market(vending.apk is about 2MB) doesn't work on 1.1 preroot. It worked on the first boot but after first app was downloaded/installed the market FC and would never open again. However, the old market(file size is about 1MB) came with autonooter works with 1.1 preroot. So if you've updated the market, try the older version.
Not sure about youtube, mine works but very slow when opening videos, takes forever to buffer

I had the same problem on mine. What I did was to open Titanium Backup, find Youtube under Backup / Restore, and do a Wipe Data on it. At that point Youtube started to work again and I had to log into my channel as in the original autonooter

No problem. If you have other things that you can't fix otherwise it may work there too. I've noticed one or two apps that behaved strangely and then were fixed by clearing the cache data

[Q] PlayOn and Newer Youtube

I just got my NC last night in the mail and got it rooted and pretty much how I want it. Just 2 questions.
1) PlayOn from MediaMall doesn't show up in the market but I copied it from my phone (Captivate) and it doesn't show up as a app and won't install. I copied it to /data/app, same location it was, on the Captivate.
2) When I first rooted the newer YT app worked and then I got the instant close, I got a version working but I wanted to see if there is a way to get the new one working again?
I have searched and didn't come up with much.
Thanks.
Edit: NM Playon requires 2.2 , I will leave the question about PlayOn here for reference if anyone else tried to install.
Edit: I found a thread that has a signed_youtube.apk.
I remembered that last night Search wasn't working, thats why I didn't find anything.
Youtube stopped working after a reboot! Seems like wipe data in TiBu worked after reboot, does this need to be done every time? Or does this have to do with accessing My Channel?

I don't Think that Question has ever been fully answered for the stock roms. All I know is that at some point the youtube app will stop working and you have to clear the cache. I doubt it will get fixed, people are far to interasted in getting the newer roms working. Once B&N creates a stock 2.2 rom maybe then the issues with go away.

You can get Froyo running off SD. Also most Apps won't work if you just push them to the Android Device. If you have adb working run "adb install appname.apk" otherwise go to Settings --> Apllication --> Unknown Sources then copy the APKs to the Internal Storage and then use Astro File Manager to Install them.

[FLASH] *Nov 11/11/11 UPDATE* Hulu hacked flash 11.1.102.59

I have took it in my own hands to hack the flash apk to allow you to watch Hulu. This is version 11.0.1.153. I have tested on Hulu.com and also youtube.com to ensure youtube still works. This is my first hack and my first apk so please install at your own risk. I do not assume responsibility for any negative effect this has on your xoom, your computer, or your life
Just install via ADB or save to your xoom and install normally.
You will need to uninstall your current version of flash for this to work.

**You need Root to use this application**
Thanks, Bill! Trying it out as soon as I get 3.2.2 working. As you know on IRC, I'm still bootlooping. LOL.

I'm on 3.2 and I uninstall my flash/rebooted then installed your flash and rebooted. tried it on the stock browser, xscope pro, opera, firefox and it's not working, but I just installed Dolphin HD, changed user agent to computer and BAMB!
I got HULU again.
Update: what version of youtube are you running? mine keep saying "there was a problem while playing touch to retry"

I believe this is because the stock browsers UA is "Android".
In order for this to work, the UA must be Desktop. You don't have the option to change that in the stock browser that comes with the Xoom.
Almost 90% sure

If you are not running one of the ROMs that sets the UA to Desktop you must manually change it each time you open the stock browser. To do this follow these steps.
1) Once the stock browser is open, type "about:debug" in the address line and hit enter. It will appear as though nothing has changed so this is normal.
2) Open the browser settings. Now you will see items such as "Dump Navigation Cache", etc.
3) Go into Settings>Debug. Here you will see UAString. You can set the UA to desktop and then hit back. This will stay until the browser is closed.
I am hoping this is accurate as I am running a ROM with this set so had to go by memory.
Thanks for this! Everything seems to work with the exception of justin.tv. Any ideas why this won't work? I use this to watch news. I'm on tiamat hammerhead.

Flash Player 11 is coming out tonight! Keep an eye out on the market y'all. I didn't wanna make a thread for this because there is no reason to. So, there ya go.
With version 11 comes major stability and performance improvements, as well as new 3D game console quality graphics, this of course will not be ready to be used yet on launch. This is quite a feat for Flash based games.
Maybe this new updated Flash Player will work with Hulu by default? If not, I'm sure this Hulu modified Flash Player will make its way onto 11.

An error occured... only on paid apps

I've seen this in other areas for other phones but mine just started doing this an hour ago. Can get free apps fine just not paid ones.
As a work around, can't you buy them from the Market website and have them pushed to your phone?
haven't tried that
but I will. Just wondering if this is another one of those 'old topics'. The only thing I did was flash the 1.8 ROM and then I put on bigDX.bionic.green and my phone reset. After that was when this started (I didn't know the bionic.green would actually be like a ROM my bad). On the other hand my wifi issue with the market appears to be gone. Wondering if it's happend to anyone on THIS device as it seems all are a bit different
I think it's an issue in the newest Market release. I'll check my versions momentarily.
cool thanks
For the record I did get something from the market online and was able to purchase from there and download to my phone.
Had the same problem
I had the same problem after updating to DroidTh3ory's [R3]Blurr3d 1.8. Here's how I fixed it:
Was poking around in Titanium Backup and saw that the version of Market installed on my phone was 3.2, and my backed up version was 3.15. I deleted the 3.2 version completely through Titanium, then restored the backup and it's worked fine ever since. Make sure you delete the 3.2 version first. I couldn't get the backup restoration to take right until I did.
Hope that Helps!
