Hi, I was just wondering if the method of flashing the Europe ROM to downgrade a 5.10.x.xx SPL could be safely used on a TMOUS phone without unlocking.
Thanks so much for the help, and by the way-I'm not a noob, and actually used to develop very popular Android ROMS. I just decided to move to XDA because of the lack of communication and inefficiency of almost all of the forums I've tried.

I'm newish on the block when it comes to jailbreaking phones, and I've got a few questions before I jump into the mix and possibly screw my HTC dream up.
1. Does having root access inpose any security holes? In other words, if I jailbreak my phone, will it get hax'd from hackers?
2. My HTC had a RC8 build of android 1.1 before I upgraded it to the optus suppiled OTA update of CupCake (1.5). Is it still possible to downgrade despite this version of android?
3. There's a few custom roms of the Os around and I like the addition features they provide. Do I need to be worried about flashing a us custom rom on a aus (uk?) Handset? Or do custom roms have no actual region setting?
4. What are some good custom versions of android?

I was looking at CyanogenMod and it looks awesome, is there any simple step-by-step tutorials on how to install it? I've read ways of installing it, but I just want to be sure I install it the correct way and not botch something up.
What version should I use? CyanogenMod v3.6.8 or v3.9.7?

[Q1] I wanted to know weather it is safe to flash an Asia ROM to a Europe device or vice versa. My WP7 is not carrier locked and has the ROM flashed detailed in my sig and running smooth. I was searching the fora for this answer but I could not find a Yes or No answer for it. So if I want to flash an Asia ROM for my phone will it work? (Why: higher version numbers might have more stability and radio version might improve GPS signals, etc.)
[Q2] What is the difference between ROMs for different carriers (O2, Telstra, TMO, BellMobility, etc)? If I flash one of these will my phone still connect to my service in Hungary? All of them has different version numbers and radios.
[Q3] Can I mix radios and ROMs as well?
[REQ] There really would be nice to have a wiki or guide with these questions detailed or a HowTo for beginners. Most of us is really a beginner with WP7 I think not mentioning flashing a WP7 device. I have experience with WM6.x.x flashing but only flashed my HD7 once.

No, dont worry, once unlocked it cannot be re locked.
Do NOT try to flash any stock roms except tmous stock rom. Example never flash the stock India rom,,, all stock roms will destroy your phone. Only use roms that say " tmous compatible," or "leo1024" or similar.

If I flash the official Tmobile UK ROM..will it relock itself

Ohhhhh right, in future don't say "t mobile hd2", its unnecessary, confusing and you will get wrong advice.
also, this "t mobile" section isn't for you, its for t mobile USA, which is kind of a different phone.
Answer no, it will never be re locked.

Hi, i use an US t-mobile HD2 in Hungary. Its unlocked.
ROM version: 2.13.531.1. I like to update the rom to 3.14
I found on t-mobile's site some instructions, and the new rom.
My question is: when i update ROM with original t-mobile ROM(3.14), can it be re locked?? Thanks (sorry for my bad english)
No it will not be relocked by flashing a new ROM (stated many times in many threads including this one)
If flashing you would be best looking at Energy 29017 custom ROMs unless you have a very good reason to want flash original ROM.
Custom ROM is superb & functions far better than any latest operator build.
I had T-Mobile 3.14 & flashing to Energy 23699 build ROM is like jumping forwards 2 years in software development (probably closer to a decade at MS development speed)

Steer yourself at Google and type "magldr rearmed.txt missing", loads of results.

I have almost the same issue. I'm brazillian and the English keyboard doesn't have "ã" and "õ" characteres... I want to use Spanish keyboard because of this, so... Anyone could help?

If so, I believe a goldcard is the only way to debrand. See this thread.
I'm still trying to figure out if the benefits (quicker updates, etc.) outweigh the issues introduced by using a European radio.

Yes It's a T-Mobile US, I looked at that thread... It's not so easy and It needs some items as an usb y-cable, a sd card, a card reader, another smartphone with android...

I have a HTC HD7 Tmo US and followed all steps on this tread:

The flashing went ok, but sometimes the HD7 restarts it self without knowing reasons.
I found out as well on the page 18 on the same tread about the Carrier changed from xxxx.yy.zzzzz.531 to xxxx.yy.zzzzz.841, this means went to TmoUS to Telstra, Am I right? Because nobody confim it for sure yet! But seens to be!
