BRAVIA ENGINE
FOR HTC SENSATION XL
Hi guys, ive come over from the SGS2 forums,i now have the XL after my S2 got run over by a bus .ive been trying a thew things and trying to get more development for the xl.heres one ive tried from the Desire HD and tested on my xl and there is some small differences in contrast and image detail. For more info on the bravia engine and what it does go to post 3 or for more detail go here http://blog.gsmarena.com/heres-what-sony-ericsson-mobile-bravia-engine-really-does-review/
Instructions
You need to flash using clockwork mod.
wipe cache and then go to advanced and wipe dalvic cache(important).
Once thats done go install from sd card and select the zip file
and enjoy
all credits go to XxXPachaXxX

Sorry about your GSII man...
Btw, what exactly does this mod do? Make the detail sharper?

i miss it a little
what it basically is a screen mod which Sony Ericsson use on there xperia phones which sharpens imaging, tweaks contrast and saturation and makes colours more vibrant and reduces noise,so the overall effect is the quality of screen looks more lovelier.its a post processing engine so you can only see the improvement on the phones display,if you turn the brightness on the screen to max, look at it and then apply the mod and then look at it again you will see differences in quality.
its explained it much more detail here
http://blog.gsmarena.com/heres-what-sony-ericsson-mobile-bravia-engine-really-does-review/

this is very well received. its a good mod which i used on my gs2 as well. it smooths out graphics and makes everything look vibrant. loved the screen on my arc before i sold it just hated all that blue in sony stock roms

Good, I'll give it a try! Thanks

post your thoughts please

Things do seem different but I honestly don't think its major, I like the screen as it is anyway. I'm came a Motorola milestone 2 which was a very crisp screen and has very natural colours. The screen on the XL may be low res but, everyone who uses my phone and plays on it say they love the huge screen and I agree haha!

yea difference isnt major but apparent in gallery and some videos. the screen on this phone is the biggest selling point as it is a joy to view

slight improvement. Hardly noticeable if im being honest though.

[MOD] Voodoo improvements for Nexus S: sound + color patches available

Hi dear Nexus S developers and users
I plan to port and develop a lot of sound and screen related stuff for the Nexus S. Using source to extend it not only to the kernel, but also deep in Android system roots.
TODO:
- continue the portable WM8994 sound development. Next step, Parametric EQ.
- a lot about screen colors, first to avoid those purple deviations in dark greys
- a learning & adaptive auto-brightness implementation
- touch screen adjustments (space bar madness!)
Voodoo sound repository - sound patches only branch:
https://github.com/project-voodoo/linux_samsung/tree/nexus-s-voodoo-sound
As I publish only sound patchs on this branch, you'll be able to git pull / git merge it safely, you won't get any garbage from it.
Same for color/screen patches:
https://github.com/project-voodoo/linux_samsung/tree/nexus-s-voodoo-color

Haven't tested it out yet, but went ahead and bought the voodoo control donate app for your work, mate. Any FAQs for a guy whos totally green on sound and sound adjusting? Wanna play around a bit, but basically I've got no idea what I'm doing...
EDIT: Spotify sounds AWESOME now. Thanks! Hope this gets implemented in CM ASAP! Also I kinda figured out the options in the control app for myself, so no FAQ necessary =)

I use update-cm-7-20120226-NIGHTLY-p970-signed.zip for my rom.
Have tried 2 versions of this mod
1) works with version 0302 of Beats Audio&Xloud (http://dev-host.org/320)
2) works with flash.zip in this thread
It's perfect and no bootloop.
can i include it in my ROM???....with credits ofcourse
The difference is spot on !! Amazing. Works on marvel3
Thank U so much bro..
Edit:
Wrong post but i think it's the right place to say.
For those who want high quality sound at low price, use SOUND MAGIC ear-phones
They are build with high-quality and the sound quality is not less than any premium ear-phones out there.
MP-21 ($25 apprx -> Good BASS, comes with mic and single button(fully compatible with our device. Pick call, pause/next/previous song)
PL-11($13 apprx) -> Heavy BASS (no mic and button)
PL-30 ($25 -> Balanced and detailed sound (ideal for jogging because of the desing, 2 level bass controller on the eat piece, no mic, button)
Do your research before You buy them, after all its my personal opinion

[MOD - V2 WIP] V2 Beats, Dolby, SRS & Standard EQ for HTC Vivid!!!

*Note: This is for AT&T deodexed & custom roms only. I believe it MAY work for other Holiday Family Devices, but that is not confired as I only have a Vivid to test on. This mod is not 100% complete. The settings & systemUI need to be modified with a few fixes. I am releasing just to show you what is possible & to foster the collaborative help of others. This is an Alpha release.
Again, this is not my work alone. Thank Mudhi for the original tweak for Sensation & PLEASE>>> do not cook this into any roms for public distribution until final version is released or permission is granted. Flash this file at your own risk. I have tested with the Vivid & other betat testers have just started testing (3/20), but as always when flashing anything, you agree that you know what you are doing & assume all responsibility.
This CWM flash zip will enable Beats, Dolby Digital, SRS & the standard EQ for the HTC Vivid in music & Videos. Please download from here if possible: Vivid_Beats_Dolby_SRS_EQ
Here is a picture of the mod in action on the AT&T HTC Vivid running a self-baked version of WCX AT&T rom, which will be up here soon if he wants to use any mods I work on!

Please take the time to use the thanks button, I don't personally care, but it is a gesture of respect & members that go out of their way to help Vivd owners when they don't even own a Vivid is worthy of our respect.
This includes Wild Child (who will be releasing a new rom here shortly with some cool stuff, but most importantly thank & send a note or a few bucks to j4n87 & Mudhi. With other developers help, that have had test ICS versions for much longer, it makes porting some tweaks much easier, especially when they are truly taking time to help & freely give of their time & guidance. While this tweak was originally for the Sensation & created by Mudhi, j4n87 has been very helpful & patient & some of hte greatest tweaks coming to Vivid in the near future are in the biggest way, thanks to him.
Change Log V2 - 3/21/2012
*Added settings for better sound when using higher compression or lesser quality media files.
*Seperated Beats function from mod for native beats in AT&T Vivid
* THIS RELEASE IS FOR AT&T VIVID USER ONLY! Still working on a version for Raider/Velocity, but have seen source files yet so notification & settings issues are slow by trial & error.
Curious why this wasn't released as a default option with the ICS upgrade.
Many thanks it works how have I missed this from my inspire I have as back up. Also volume + works on the vivid also

Is it possible to make it so this works with other audio apps? Beats is now enabled for everything (slacker, pandora, winamp etc) so long as I'm using headphones. It would be nice if we could get the other options for those players as well. Or is that at a whole other layer?

Any way to disable Superior Auto mode on camera

Hi all, is there any way to disable Superior Auto Mode on camera start-up? I would like it to start on "Normal" mode (green arrow in picture) since SAM is awful in low light situations and creates a grainy mess.

no idea... i just came back from a 4 days trip with my phone, best solution i could find is open the camera, put it in normal mode, than lock the phone with the lock key, next time when you unlock the phone (not with camera start up) you will go directly to camera on normal mode.
Thanks but I'm thinking of selling my ZR. Camera is just awful even my Galaxy Nexus took better pictures with just a 5mp camera. Didn't want an S4 but I guess it's the best phone right now. I have contracted Sony about their over processing and low headphone volume. Hopefully they issue an update or at least a reply. Or should I wait for a fix our maybe CM?

thats wierd, in my opinion the camera does a great job, pictures look good and sharp, colors are always nice and mostly white balance is fine.
i've had nokia N8 up untill now which had a great camera and i feel the ZR is not disapointing me.
about headphones are you sure the volume is low? i feel my head exploding if i put the volume to maximum... didn't feel it was low at all...

Sorry I meant the camera is bad in low light it's almost useless without the aid of additional light. I came from an HTC Amaze (aka HTC Ruby) that had a superb camera and the ZR feels like a downgrade. As for the volume. It's not as loud as my previous phones. I like loud music, specially when working out or mountain biking but I can live it it though

The Mobile BRAVIA® Engine is a set of Sony-specific image processing algorithms which are applied to the rendering process when drawing an image or video on the screen of your smartphone.
The benefit of using Mobile BRAVIA® Engine is that the viewing experience is improved in a way that is optimized to fit the human eye, with more details, enhanced colours and less noise.
What It Does?

Is this for taking pictures or just make your own screen looks nice.?? So a pic would look nice on your device but looks crappy on another?

Yep. All this technology does - makes photo/video look better on phone's screen. That's it. It doesn't improve quality of camera itself.
Can this be flashed on lollipop?
I'm confused. Is this even worth flashing on the opo?
Flashed it on 44,is there anything I have to enable. Or is it already done after flashing it?
Sent from my A0001 using XDA Free mobile app
Would like to point out that while this is a legitimate mod that does actually do something, when i installed it on my N7 2013 the most notable difference was that it made my device slower. the opo already has a great screen for contrast, so this wont do much anyways unless you have a keen eye for display quality.

A previous BE dev told me that BE has to be installed alongside with a gallery which is able to use BE to render pic/vid.
AFAIK this is a placebo and does nothing but if you do love your device more after the installation then why not?

Exactly and moreover, BE wil only work on untouched original Sony firmwares.
Even after unlocking the bootloader of Xperia devices, BE no longer works due to lost DRM keys which are required for BE and X-reality to work.
Conclusion: placebo effect if you see a difference.
OPO has its own display enchancement option in display setting,
Try to turn it on, you will find your screen color slighty more saturated,
So this MOD is actually redundant? No one can make it work anymore? Cause the display and colour enhancement is pretty promising .
