missing widgets - Samsung Galaxy Mini

Hi guys,
im currently running a stock 2.3.4 rom on my galaxy mini, loving this phone at the moment, its rooted and i have had no issues with it so far... however i appear to be missing a few widgets. there is no music widget in the list and the vlingo widgets are also missing, im not sure if there are any others missing but those are the most noticable (compared to my sons xperia mini pro which IS showing those widgets, and yes the apps are installed!!!). any ideas on this one
many thanks in advance
Jim

u are right so i would suggest u that install similar kinds of widgets(don't forget to keep them in phone memory) from market that u need
or other option try another rom for your mini

keep in mind that widget appears only for apps trhat are in interbal memory...
...no SD allowed.

thanks, the widgets for vlingo appeared after i 'moved to phone' in manage applications, however the default music player still appears widgetless even though is a default install and shows on the phone. ive taken to using winamp instead as a result. many thanks for your replies.

Problem with official "Apps to SD Card" moving

Hello,
yesterday I started to move some Apps (around 20) to my SD Card.
On of the apps was "HTC_IME mod" (the keyboard). When I tried to write something now I only had the android keyboard. HTC IME wasn't even in the input settings.
Well, okay, moved it back to phone storage. Still didn't work somehow.. it FC'd.
I reinstalled it and it worked again.
Some minutes later I've seen that 3 Apps aren't in the AppDrawer anymore!
Since I got some of them in a folder on the homescreen I tried to start the apps there. It didn't work! Getting the message "isnt installed on phone" or something like that.
+ All of the apps I moved were shown without the actual app icon but with the default green icon. I tried to start them too and it worked..
I also couldn't move any of them back to the phone storage because the buttons were greyed out and I were only able to uninstall them.
I removed most of the apps without a real icon from the folder and put them back in (Holding them in the AppDrawer and moving into the folder) and did another restart to see if they're without an Icon again or not.
Now the Launcher Force Closed. Couldn't do anything.. (I'm on CM6 and deleted the ADW Launcher and just installed LauncherPro Plus)
Blah blah I connected to USB to get the USB screen (makes the launcher not close anymore) and used the powerstrip app to go the root explorer and reinstall the Launcher. Worked again.
I checked my folder again and I see that all icons are still shown! Yay!
But wait, that can't be true. I did another restart.
Checked the folder and most of the apps are without an icon again (default icon only).
AND I have some apps TWICE in the AppDrawer!!
wtf!? What the hell am I doing wrong?
I just wanted to use the FroYo Apps2SD methode to get some free space on my phone -.-

Another restart fixed it. But it didn't fix the missing icons in the folder and I think it also didn't fix everything what happened before.
+1
Same problem... But i think it may be related to Market Update.
Common problem... have a read of the following:
http://developer.android.com/guide/appendix/install-location.html
http://www.androidguys.com/2010/05/22/storing-apps-sd-froyo/
Also, most reliable results are with stock Froyo Launcher... probably best to use that if you have a lot of apps on SD using Froyo method.
Shameless plug: Kang-o-rama 1.0, which is based on CM6 RC1, is the only CM rom with full apps2ext support. Apps2ext will give you the benefits and none of the pain... see my sig.
Temporary solution
Temporary solution that worked on my N1 is this:

Here some solutions that I and others have posted in the nightly build thread. Go into settings, applications, manage applications, running, adw, then force stop. That brought back the apps icons. The weirdest one I found is to open camera (I then open settings) close camera, and my icons are back. Don't ask me why this works but it does.
Note: All the icons that turn generic are in folders on my home page, including camera.

Oh wth.
I know that the icons were still not shown yesterday morning and during the day I used the camera exactly once.
I just checked the folder on the homescreen and the icons are there .. crazy
Bump!
anyone with the same problems but other solutions?
This is a common and known issue with custom launchers (like LauncherPro you're running) and Froyo's Apps2SD. Plus, it's a known limitation - widgets/keyboards/system service apps/etc can't be moved to SD and keep working reliably. Cyanogen enables the option, but it doesn't say you can use it on everything.
There are no solutions, and it's very well possible that there won't ever be any.

[Q] Timer app? Flashed Auxuras 2.1

Hey guys,
I recently flashed my Captivate to Auxuras 2.1.. lovin it, except for the fact that the clock app from the stock rom was wayy better (stopwatch, timer, worldclock etc.)
Are there any recommendations or apps that you guys could suggest that has similar functions?
All i really need is an app that I can set time, run in the background, play alarm sounds OR vibrate when in silent.
Thanks !

Here. This is the clockpackage I used on Assonance, pulled from Perception 4.
Hey
I tried installing the clock onto my phone but it keeps saying "Application not installed".
My phone is rooted, do I have to uninstall the Clock app that is currently on this phone first?
Thanks for the upload btw
Use a file manager like astro or root explorer to move the file to your system/app on your internal sd card. That is what I had to do because sometimes system apk's won't install that way. Feel free to thank me haha, jk. Make sure you use Titanium Backup to uninstall the old clock app that is on the phone.
Holy crap thank you.
LOL is it possible to keep that other app funcitoning at the same time?
I don't see why not as long as you don't remove it. It opened for me when it was still attached to my Beautiful widget so it should work just fine. I meant through the thank button haha. I am glad it worked for you, and I really don't need to boost my thank meter. I just need one to get on the board lol.

[Q] Losing desktop icons and wallpaper on reboot

Hi all,
I've read hundred of stickies, Q&A's, FAQ's, nd whatever, but I haven't found a similar problem. I's appreciate any help or hint.
When I reboot, many desktop icons (direct links) disappear. Also the wallpaper (I use Ownskin). Widgets and other settings seem to remain unaffected.
This doesn't happen to all icons: e.g, in the 4th desktop screen I have 16 game icons. When I reboot, 8 or 10 of them have disappeared.
I wonder if this is related to having moved some apps to the SD, as if they have somehow lost track of their confg files (sorry if this sounds dumb, newbie Android user).
I am extremely happy with my SGS, but this problem is getting really annoying.
Here's my data
GT-I9000
Official carrier (Spanish Movistar) Froyo.BGJP3 update
Baseband I9000BGJP2
Rooted and lagfixed, carrier bloatware removed.
TIA for your time!
same problem here.. every program i install to sd the icon is gone after reboot.. seems to be some kinda timing thing where when it builds the desktop the sd is in the middle of scanning for media or something.. running stock jpy 2.2.1 with bln kernel.. anyone else..
Your explanation is probably correct. However, I am curious as to why you still need app to SD despite having 2 gb of app space.
that is normal with most apps 2 sd
if you refresh it again, they will show up
dont really need apps to sd with 2 gig you are right.. but apps such as angry birds.. automatically install to sd (ie over 16 meg)..
allgamer. how do you refresh your desktop.. scanning media is not the same.
and it is a pain to manually add icons after every boot.
is this the problem in all froyo.. really needs to be fixed.. there needs to be some kinda delay say 2 minutes after boot before removing icons.. even if it has to show some generic icon till the app is avial.

Yes, that was it! I moved all apps back to memory, and everything is working fine again. You are right, there is no need to put them into the SD, with such an amount of available space. Anyway, I still think this is a bug in Froyo. If it has the option to put apps to SD, it should work correctly.
Thanks!

i also had go launcher but it's slow, laggy so i switched to zeam launcher and it's very fast and doesn't crashes, try it
I will try, but still hoping to make progres with Go launcher, they have very good themes that I want to use...
EDIT- strange but I cant find zeam launcher on market
Thats your choice, but zeam is faster and stabile. Find apk file on internet, but it should be on the market
Sent from my X8 using XDA App
Hello!
I've been using GO Launcher EX with custom ROMs (Floyo 0.20, 0.25, 0.30 and FroyoBread now) and it never did anything like that on my X8, it's "laggier" than the others, but it's okay.
Did you get it from the real android market? You said that you like their themes... maybe it's, somehow, related to theme you've downloaded and installed?
See you, and good luck with it!
Personally I love GO Launcher, and have never had any problems with it at all. Barely any lag either, but I will investigate Zeam.
There will be a bunch of files (cache, settings, etc.) created on the SD card from GO. You could uninstall it, clear these out, reboot your phone and then reinstall it.
Might solve your problem? Find it does for other apps (as it forces it to gather new data)
P.S. You could have a look on the dev site for help, or even raise a bug: http://golauncher.goforandroid.com/
@Striderzin yes i have download from real android market but not themes in that period of time when i head this problem. I will try once more and0 see what will hapen.
@SirMikey hmm i didnt notice that launcher makes its own folders on sd card thx i will delete them.
I am using unrooted 2.1 zeam launcher works only 2.2 and above -.-
when i installed Go LauncherEX, I stopped receiving SMS on my Stock 2.1 ROM, i don't know if it was GL EX or if it was coincidence.
But i don't like the Go LauncherEX, just try LauncherPRO, use only one homescreen, disable the homescreen caching, use only one dock page, do not use a lot of widgets, and with this, LauncherPRO will only use about 7MB of RAM, and it will be very smooth too.

[Q] Streak 7 files

I have a rooted Streak 7 (16gb) with a 16gb SD card & it seems much much slower lately. What things can I delete or uninstall to help it?
I heard somewhere that uninstalling Dell Launcher speeds things up. ....can this be done without messing up system?
Also, I try out & uninstall apps constantly. ......does that fill up system with leftovers? Where are they?
Oh and "market" app loads EXTREMELY slow. ....sometimes wont load at all. ...ever since they changed Market design/format. Is that fixable?
Thanks in advance
At least on 2.2.x StageUI 1.5 is rather slow, but remember to install another launcher before removeing the StageUI launcher. StageUI 1.7 is completely different.
If you uninstall an app, from either the market uninstall button or the setting one it removes all config files immediately.
If you manually delete an apk it will remove config files on reboot.
There's an app called SD maid that I personally love that gets rid of all cache files and leftovers from apps (if there are any)
There are several apps that try to boost your SD cards access times... you can try those... can't hurt...
I also use AutoRun Manager to make sure apps I rarely use don't start up at boot
And yeah... the Dell Stage pretty much sucks... my preference is GO Launcher
so if I install something like "Go Launcher" then I can uninstall Dell launcher? My system came with 2.2.2.
actually I have "circle launcher" installed,,,,can that work?
thanks so much!

Definitely, I would RECOMMEND doing away completely with the DEL Stage and then run any launcher you prefer, I was just stating that I use (well use to use) GO Launcher (I'm running GingerStreak 2.3 and have gotten attached to VTL Launcher somewhat) but I loved the features of GO Launcher....
OR you can install one of the custom ROMs that have been tweaked a little bit for performance
I'm not really gonna try to recommend one because I have no idea what your level of expertise is with Android is or how much you like to tinker with your device, but there are some very nice options that will certainly make you smile
it says go launcher is incompatable with my streak 7 :-(
I love messing with my gadgets & appreciate any advice u give! Thanx bunches
ok it seems like most launchers are incompatible. ....why?

I know it's incompatible with DJs HoneyStreak, but you shouldn't get an incompatibility message with it on Froyo... least ways I didn't
Ok I got. GO Launcher apk from the company website & that worked. I wonder why market wouldn't. ....hmmm. ...
I was trying Launcher Pro too but its 3.49 to use extra customization features & Go Launcher is free.
Removed Dell Stage. ....even market runs better!
Anyway, thanx again. ..any other good speed up tips? I installed a Rom manager also :.)

You can uninstall the ROM Manager, none of them work with either of the Streaks.
I use AutoRun Manager to keep apps from starting up that I don't use often, and I also use AutoKiller Memory Optimizer to help manage my memory...
