i calibrated using this app it was 100% when i calibrated and followed instructions also.

I m not that expert.. But for ur question u need to calibrate the battery.. first charge the battery till 100%.. Wipe the battery stats.. Then dont charge till level <20%... again charge till 100% without pause. Now again wipe stats.. Switch off the phone and charge see if the % shown is app equal to the level in the charging symbol(Green).. Wait till it charges to 100%.. Then remove the charger and switch on.. Now u must hav a properly around 90%!! Now charge till 100%..

thnkx for the help but very confusing as when my device is on and charging it shows 100 and when i switch off and again charge it starts charging. will this app work if u use this ?

I tried to post an external link to the answer to this problem but I don't have enough posts but you can try going to androidpolice dot com and then search for inconsistent-battery-drain
hope it helps...

If I read your post correctly, I think that you are on ICS, which is beta. Right now devs have much bigger worries than Battery. There must be some issues which will be resolved later.

Better you uninstall Battery Calibration app and calibrate your battery manually again. I hope you know how to do it

no bro can u help as don't know about the manual method

You can also calibrate your battery from CWM Recovery (correct me if I am wrong). I believe it is under the Adavnced selection of the menu.

There is descryption how to manualy calibrate battery.
You do this in Recovery Mode - Advenced - Wipe Battery Stats:

do we a good tutorial for manually calibrating battery as i know about wiping battery stats through recovery but there is some condition that we have to 100% then 10 then again 100 blah blah but nothing is so clear so can someone post that tutorial or share his experience ?

Dont jus say thanks, use d 'THANKS' button. [XDA RULE]

I have the same problem with some variants of cm7 :-(

Folks, i've researched about this and all the CyanogenMod stay with problem. Solution? Use the ROMs based on Stock, use the stock, or don't see the real percentage and use the cellphone -- please, use the third alternative.
See the time of use and percentage makes a scream in the use. My Ace on Cyanogen make my services and stay in use turn 7 hours about use. Try this.
Sorry for my bad english. :/

Hey please give this a read. The sudden discharge is not actually a problem:
Put this on google:
android police Your Battery Gauge Is Lying To You
and click on the first link.
Please press thanks if this was helpful...

Charge phone, look in settings, about phone and it will say charging (USB or AC) don't remove until it says full. Don't believe when lockscreen says charged. Wiping battery stats does nothing.

I just posted here so that Nexus S member realise that they need to calibrate their battery before giving comment that they having bad battery life
[APP] Battery Calibration - EASIEST WAY! - Version 1.2 (10th April, 2011)
Battery Calibration
[APP] by marosige
version 1.2
Requirements: Android 2.1+ | Root permissions
Calibration needs to be done after flashing a new ROM, but you can calibrate any time you think your battery is miscalibrated. This program does it by removing the batterystats.bin system file. The OS generates a new clean batterystats file soon, thus any fake information from the previous ROM is removed.
It's suggested, but not necessary, to let the phone fully discharge after calibration, then charged to 100% without break.
The app shows your actual battery status, and only allows you to start the calibration (i.e. removes the file) when it's fully charged, unless you force earlier calibration.
The voltage meter can be useful too. Full charge is around 4200mV.
There is an option to beep when 100% is reached so you don't have to closley follow the changes.
EXTRA NOTE FOR NEXUS S:
Since our Nexus S has default of charging limit till 95%,
we'll need to do some setting modification to enable it to charge till 100%.
1st, Go to Setting, select Display, change the ScreenOut Time to the longest (30 minutes for mine).
2nd, Leave it there and charge it, remember to touch the screen every 30 minutes to enable it charge till 100%.
3rd, When it shows 100%, open the Battery Calibration apps and press "Battery Calibration"
4th, Reboot your phone and it should be alright
(You maybe asking why when the screen is on, it can be charged to 100%, I have no idea too

Those who had 1.1 or lower installed: you must uninstall before installing from the Market, or else it will say installation unsuccessful, package not signed.
*I personally tried this apps and it WORKS on Nexus S (i9023)

Does this really worth the trouble? My phone charges up to 97% and the batt least long... On CM 7.0.3. Does it really increases the life time?

Do you need to do it every single charge? No, you dont. Would it be a good idea to do it the first time after flashing a new kernel or ROM? Sure.
I often delete battery stats in clockwork mod. Doesn't this just achieve the same thing, or is there a difference????

Well, that's good if you can delete battery stats.
This apps is for those who LAZY to delete it, instead, use a apps where "one-click" is able to achieve it without going to recovery mod
Something I don't understand about the Nexus S note:
if you can't charge your phone above 96% how could you let it charge until 100%?
If I let my phone charge during several hours, the percentage doesn't increase over 96-97% ...
So could you explain a little bit better.
Thanks a lot.

The weird thing is, when the screen in on, it can be charged to 100%
Ask me why? I have no idea too. Haha. You try it and you will realise it
I found out something more than weird ... if I let my phone charged with screen on, I can't go over 97% and the battery state oscillates between 96 and 97% !!!!!

For me charging with wifi tether turned on it will charge past 96%,without it on it stops charging screen on or not. I got to 98% this morning before leaving for work or I was gonna be late...
sent from the nexus of the 4g universe
mine tops out @ 98% like this.. cant get it to 100
With WiFi tether I can get to 100%. It may be something to do with not letting the phone go into a 'deep sleep'.

Hmmm... so I let it charge to 100%, then recovery, clear battery stats, reboot. And when it rebooted 95%. Afterwards I recharged my nexus back to 100% and now it seems to be charging fully everytime, or so it seems.... That's so weird, why a charging limit? Software Bug? Or am I just an idiot and it takes 5% battery life to reboot into recovery..
Edit: Now when I clear battery Stats I get no confirmation in Recovery, it just jumps back to menu..... Ill give this Battery Calibration App a try and see how it goes, cheers
I noticed this error, the inability to charge beyond 97 as well as showing decreased charge while plugged in, and left my nexus plugged in and off for 6 hours...
it booted and showed 95% charge, but reported full... Strange

Please remember that for our nexus S, 99% and 100% can be consider full charge as to 4198-4200mv. So when it reach 99%, you can just unclick the "wait til 100%" and click "battery calibration"
hope that helps

I noticed when I clear battery stats the very first time in recovery, it never show comfirmation. Probably due to some bugs I guess?
So I share this app as this app does the job
Also, a little tip.
Go to Settings>Applications>Development, and press stay awake.
Makes it easier I guess, then you don't have to monitor the phone.

[onecosmics' ics rc2.1] super duper mega extremly bad battery life .

First of all , I really like the work onecosmic has been doing , keep up the good work !
I am currently using the RC2.1 build combined with fugo kernel . so far epic . I'd really want to use this rom on daily basis but the problem is that i get horrible battery life. at first I reflashed everything (including all wipe needed in the order specified) but that didn't help . I am currently on my 4th or 5h cycle of calibration but it gets worse every time .
here is a screen shot from the 2nd cycle (started fully charged ):

i lost 75% in 5hrs of normal+- use . :\
here is one from now (started fully charged )
40% in one hour . i played a couple of games for 20 minutes and thats it . it dropped me to 79% and than i stopped using my phone . the battery dropped alone to about 60% short time after that .
What can i do to improved it ? I tried to avoid widgets , reflashing and wiping , other kernels that seem to mess up my rom and get the home button not to work (nushors) ...
I thank you all in advance for your , I hope you could help me solve my problem

Check in battery settings what is using your battery so much.. if anything other than Android OS (could be till 30-40%) is consuming your battery.. take action regarding that..
if this doesn't work, then clear your battery stats through recovery and calibrate for another 3-4 full charge/discharge cycles.. should solve your problem
Tried everything . battery still sucks
I think it's the HSPA/WCDMA network type. I use GSM only and I get 1day +.
You forgot to post most importat thing, how long display was on. From screens I can see it was on alot.
If it had 3-4 hours, it's probably okay since you had data enabled aswell.
try buid 13 teamhacksung.
I'm on it! And it's better than CM7.

What means better than CM7? Can you give an example: e.g. 2 days with normal usage.
I don't have good battery life too. We just need to wait for devs to improve it...
music player not working
video player not showing all videos
can't add or remove homescreens
m on glitch kernell
Okay, means we still have to wait.

Ok, did you intall the rom with the battery full charged? This may be the problem
@chriss23: how is your battery expierence with build 13?
i am on the second battery cycle with onecosmics mod. normal use of the phone and 63% left after 32hours. its ok but when i use some apps the battery drains one percent on only a few minutes. iam unsure if this is normal. usage of android os in battery stats says 26%.. in gingerbread, this was too much but would you say its normal on ics?
thank
Hello all. I had also battery issues with the new roms of ICS. I exclude usage of data which one way or another makes things worse. I believe that issues will be fixed soon since the difference between the first versions of roms and the newest ones is significant. Freezing also some unneeded background processes always help (i use titanium for this). Playing among different kernels and undervoltaging can also help.

Huge Battery Drain ?? plz help, tried everything

Hello friends.
Using o2x from 2 weeks.
Tried lot of roms, all kernels etc.
but what i get average 1 day use of phone, 17 to 20 hrs (less 8 hrs of sleep then it comes to 9 to 12 hrs). with normal use.
1 hrs calls, 0.5 hrs data and remaining is here and there sneaking in phone.
i never used gps, wifi,bt etc, all are in off state.
.
now i m currently on cm7 kang by temasek with irnkernel.
still battery giving same draing.
draining 1% just in 3 to 5 mins when i m using phone (not on call or data).
and main point is i m on edge coverage, so no 2g use.
data is always off.
.
i dont know what eating my battery too much..
.
realy, i m getting upset.
i tried every kernel and every rom, did battery calibration etc.
.
Update : I forgot to mention i m using class 2, 16 gb micro cd card.
also i m using acer liquid metal's usb charger for charging.
will this affect on my battery ?
update : guys i want to mention one thing.
today i pissed of with this problem and thought it was battery problem.
so i planned to go customer care.
then turned back v20e which official 2.3 for india.
then i saw dramatic changes in my battery drain.
it was half as before, with stock thing, no apps installed, not rooted etc.
i m still monitoring my battery.
.
also one thing, is go launcher will be cause for this ?
cause when flashed with v20e. the widget show drain as around 130-150 mA.
then i installed go launcer ex, then drain was 250 mA.
.
what is ur normal drain when u r using phone ? (for those who r getting best battery life)
.
.
can anybody share his battery drain graph which taken by battery monitor widget ?
here are some screenshots :

I have a similar problem, but it's likely because of 3G. With V10F Froyo, the phone drained <1% per hour in stand by, with 3G on. With V20L, and CM7 (any version of them), my phones draines 3-5% per hour. Tried anything, any ROM/BB combination, returned phone to warranty, but nothing.

how the hell do you have such a battery life?! even I am on temasek's kang!! at avg with your kind of usage it will go for less than a day :/
same with me..
hardly a day..
is there any problem in indian phones ?
See that 'better battery stats' image you put up? See the drop down menu that says 'since unplugged'? Change that to 'partial wakelock' and get a picture of it to show us the result
Also, you seem to have a lot of battery apps on the go.. are they conflicting?

I had a problem with huge battery drain and the culprit was my sd card. I dont know why but it had problems scanning it so I think it got stuck in a scanning loop of some sort. When I removed it, all was fine.

i did it already.
My recommendation:
1. Flash vadonka's kernel (ironKrnL has good performance, but drains battery fast).
2. Remove widgets which keep accessing the net in background, stop background data over network (in settings)
3. Install AnTuTu battery saver and set battery saver level to level 2.
4. Remove SD card. Try to manage for a day without SD card. Set internal storage as SD card in CM settings.
5. End all background apps after using any app (use dr. battery saver or similar app to kill all apps).
6. Take any other precautions, such as lowering screen brightness, tick "use only 2G networks" option, dont allow automatic email syncing in background etc.
Try this for one day on a full battery and let us know the results. If it does not improve much, you probably have a defective battery. I also own this phone in India and my battery easily lasts 2 days on normal usage.

Thats normal i think. Get nearly the same results.
Try Rugglez suggestion.
Also check if your Baseband matches your RIL.(Download GetRil from Market)
And go into Settings --> Apps --> Running Apps and check if there are many Services running in the background.
Also you can try to install the Autostarts app, which lets you control which apps are allowed to open themselves in the background.

ICS update Battery Issues

Alright so like many other people on this and other forums, I updated to ics 4.0.3 two days ago and been experiencing battery issues since. But my battery issue is a bit different from what I've read about. My note has no problem going into deep sleep, when i go sleep and wake up deep sleep is at 98-99% and my battery drains about 1%. But when I turn on my phone and start using it no matter what I do, the battery drains about 1% every 3-5 minutes.
Phone settings:
- I always have my brightness at 0 and have screen filter on to make it even less bright(even though battery drains about the same with or without this on) (batter settings still show that screen is taking up most of the battery)
- With wifi on or off battery drains just as fast.
- I havnt started my new data plan yet so im always on airplane mode( battery drains the same with this on or off)
- My note was never rooted
- I basicly have no widgets on anymore because i deleted most of them but doesnt help battery life.
- With power savings on or off battery still drains the same amount
- The only apps i have installed after ics are ones from googe play(netflix, chrome, and other simple apps)/ i deleted my emulators and other apps that iv'e downloaded and installed
Can anyone please help me with this issue
bump
You are on Stock ICS ? Go to Settings>Battery And Post the Screenshot Here. It will help us to determine the exact situation..
Sorry I'm new im guessing stock ics means official release from kies, then yes. I dont know how useful these battery ss will be because a lot of the time im either idle or charging.

Did you perform a hard reset on your device after the update?
if not, then see if you can try it and get back again with your screenshots.. don't forget to do some re-calibration also on your battery. This works on my end before. Not sure if it works on yours, but hey.. there's no harm in trying right? just give it a shot bud...
Cheers!

Also download Battery Calibration from play store... Open it when its fully charged and start calibration... Let your phone battery fully drained and then charge it again to full without pauses...

Also download Battery Calibration from play store... Open it when its fully charged and start calibration... Let your phone battery fully drained and then charge it again to full without pauses...

Cheers!

Wtf are you trying to brick op's phone? You should get a warning..
Op never ever ever ever ever ever do a factory reset from ANY ics stock kernel.. It will get your phone bricked.. Or maybe but just maybe not? Anyways will you take the chance?
I was on 4.0.3 stock and yeah the battery it's horrible.. Don't know why the phone barely goes deep sleep.. Check this with cpu spy free app from market
Since the phone upgraded itself to 4.0.4 I have been able to run 14 hours with 5 hours screen and the phone its always on deep sleep

yea i knew theres a huge risk involved =/ , is there anyway i can update to 4.0.4 because it's not showing up on kies
Yeah following the several guides around.. They all lead you to download 4.0.4 and a gingerbread rom from Sammobile, downgrading your phone to gingerbread by flashing it via odin and then flashing ics 4.0.4 via odin also .. So go ahead and read some..
Cheers

Check Android Development Section...
cpuspy and betterbatterystats to check partial wakelocks and whats keeping phone awake. A gazilion threads on that. read them. You need these as Samsungs analytical view state nothing usefull, they need to fire the designer of that.
Next to this I see lot of screen on time, how much time roughly is that in total, you are actually using device?

my phone doesn't have the deep sleep problem people have. my on screen time is about 6 hours before it drains completely and by on screen time it could be on the home screen with no wifi/net and no apps running with just the screen on, and the battery would still go down 1% every 3-5 min
So ics 4.0.4 came out for the UK version of note so i updated via kies. This didnt fix battery life at all, in addition iit came with another bug where my phone gets hot and drains battery when turn off the screen after playing any media file....So my question now is can i root 4.0.4 if i have the Emmc bug?

[Guide] Calibrating your battery

Ok so I'm going to tell you how to calibrate your battery, this is advised every time you flash a new ROM, you're probably asking why yourself why you would do this...
Advantages: every time you flash a new ROM your system gets confused and can result in your battery stats being incorrect meaning your phone might believe it has 0% battery and shut down despite having power left, this will fix this and so will actually give you a longer battery life
What you need:
The ability to read, and either
Cwm or the app "Battery calibrator" from Google play (I recommend the app)
OK.. so first charge your phone to 100% battery then go to either cwm recovery mode or the app, on cwm go to advanced settings and delete battery stats, on "battery calibrator" simply click the calibrate button and this will reset your battery data...
After doing either of these methods you're done, its recommended to let your battery drain completely before charging again but not needed...
I have included a screenshot of the very easy to use battery callibrator app... (having a problem with upload ill try in next post)
---I've definitely noticed that my battery lasts longer especially at staying over 80% before it would drain from 100 to 80 in literally half an hour now each percentage is equal and drains alot slower---
IF THIS GUIDE HAS HELPED YOU DONT FORGET TO SAY THANKS

There's no way to specifically see if your device needs calibrating which is why it's recommended after each flash, however if you believe your battery is draining quickly even while doing nothing on your device it's probably because you need to calibrate
Just uploaded the screenshot of "Battery calibrator app"

Clearing battery life wont give you a longer battery life. It just corrects the battery reading. Thats about it.

+1
And other simpler way to calibrate is to reboot recovery - Go to advanced - Wipe battery stats.
When I clicked on the calibration button once it said calibrated....when I again clicked it prompted your phone is not rooted...I am running jellyblast rom....so device is definatly rooted....after some time it prompted this....moreover the app is not showing in superuser list....

The recovery method is in the guide, also this does extend your battery if your phone is switching off early because it believes you have no battery left when you do
Also to the guy who's having problems: that's normal after you click calibrate once you're done if you click it again you get that message

Yes, once you clicked it it's done, and if you click it again that happens... It's all normal, the battery stats will be recreated when you run out of Battery which is why it's recommended to let it all run out

Used my ACE without calibration (on Simplicity v3.5 Rom) - Phone was fully loaded, after around 10 min it was from 100% to ~90-85%.
This morning i calibrated and after ~10 min it was from 100% to 93% ... guess it helps?!

Yes it means it has calibrated your battery,
its giving a more accurate reading now,
P.S The only way this can help "Extend" your battery is if your phone was reading 0% and shutting down despite still having power left,
alot of people pming me asking how it extends your battery... So yes it can extend your battery.... sort of
Yeah, but i have to add:
I'm using "One power guard" atm - this app is really awesome and helps alot against battery draining - i like this, plus Supercharge, DOMscript and battery calibration - its really nice

Yeah I've recently tested this, it even has an official review by XDA, but tbh it basically just changes your CPU parameters quickly (Several other apps can do this such as frills CPU meter app) and when certain conditions are met such as low battery, this app is by far the best of its kind (Fully customisable and autimated) but ... I don't really need it my phone lasts all day even when I'm gaming... I only lose 5-10% battery ovetnight
It does have a nice layout and good features graphs etc but... meh, my phones working good already
