Search: only foreground app killer - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I looked for a solution long time for this, no success.
I wanna an app that can kill the active (foreground app) only, like in Cyanogenmod "long press back button kill".
I wanna assign to a hardware key this app to kill my active app.
(there is a "shake task killer " app, but I dont love it)
Anybody?

App Closer

You know wht wud b sick ? if there was a kind of task manager for android where i could choose wht default apps if open should remain open, other than that the moment i switch to another app the previous app if not on that list should be closed instead of me using a task manager to manually close it.
Dont respond with "oh android already does that" well it does that after a certain number of apps are open and memory is full, i want it to be done the instant i open another program.
Is there an app like this ?
i'm not sure if what i'm telling you is kind of what your looking for but the TasKiller app lets you put running apps in an ignore list so you can press the button to kill all taks and it'll leave the apps you ignored running. the free version of the app will let you ignore 2 apps whereas the paid version will let you ignore as many as you need.

Yea im usin "close everything 2" pretty sick cuz it shows num of programs runnin tht are not on ur ignore list....n when u tap on the widget it closes everything..yea but i was thinkin of somethin tht wud automatically close the previous program.
Yeah, I was looking for something like this as well. I'm using the paid version of taskiller and I'm getting tired of constantly tapping my screen. I know it can be done. I wish taskiller could be programmed (like every hour) to automatically "tap" itself and kill apps automatically. It would be the next logical step, no?

Advanced Task Manager has this ability.
thanks, just downloaded it..seems like a very powerful app.

App request! One touch kill all.

I would like an app with no GUI. I want to be able to assign it a quick launch key and I want to to kill all tasks when pressed.
Sometimes my phone gets so SLOW that I want to just restart it. But it takes a long time to boot so it's a catch 22.
I have a Taskkiller app but when the phone is going that slow, the app won't even start. I need a quick key press to just kill everything.
Hope someone can make this for me.
theyre plenty of these in the market try searching >.< taskiller also has a kill all button but prob doesnt help cause for you it doesntopen.

All the apps I've tried have GUIs so they won't work as a quick launch shortcut.
If you know the name of one that's not a GUI I would appreciate it.
If you have the app "TasKiller" by Thibaut Nicolas from the market it comes with a widget that kills all with one tap. I know it isn't what you were asking for but it may help with what you want until someone else has a better suggestion.
taskiller does this
it comes with a widget that will kill all
I have the paid version of taskiller and I love it. But the widget doesn't work if you aren't on the home app.
taskiller is a ramkiller...the widget seems to eat up ram for me.

App that kills app + it's service by pressing a button within the app

LoL, I know it sounds confusing. What I am looking for is some kind of task manager that lets me use it by pressing a hardware button (long-press prefered). Similar to CM7 (that exits the app when long pressing the back button, but it doesn't kill the process/service, only exits back to home screen). I specifically need this to terminate the browser apps as I found them to be eating a lot of RAM (stock, doplhin, opera, doesn't matter).
A similar method (by long pressing the back button) would also be prefered. Any of you know of such an app?
CyanogenMod and Zulu roms have an option to press and hold the back button to kill the app. That's probably the closest thing to what you're looking for.

What is the disadvantage if apps eat a lot of ram? Android already can manage it automaticly. If you need ram, it kills the apps.
Yeah, but I want it to kill the right apps, the browser that is.
I know its not exactly what you're looking for, but with Miren Browser, you can exit the app through the menu

Yep, doplhin has this as well. But it's not what I'm looking for.
There is something tho that just popped un in my mind, I was thinking of a some kind of task manager that would have a "shortcut" to kill apps. I could uncheck all the apps and check only the browser and some others that I'm interested in (gallery and maps also seem to be eating pretty much and I never even open the maps app). Then I could go in CM7 settings and activate that "shortcut" for one of the buttons, like long pressing the menu button for example.

How to prevent an app from kill

I am using an app of floating Back Button for my ease. That app uses accessibility feature to observe my action of course. But when ever i clear my recent apps, this app also killed. I would have to reopen it, give again permission of Accessibility to make it work.
Even if i dont kill the app at Recent app still system kill it after 1 hour.
Use different apps for back button but result is same. Any guide would be appreciated. Thanx in advance.. Waiting...

Hi,
Usually needs root, if you have root use fng navbar. If no root, use Samsungs one hand operation + app and you get option to close app, that kills it.
Batman for the win
Thank you that is great I did not know the app was capable of doing this I had to create a tasker script to long hold the back button for 3 seconds to kill it but I've got to run it in ADB Wi-Fi command every time I reboot my phone so the task has enough permissions to run.
