open zip on PC to see sturcture of folders. (also unzip optimizer on SD CARD)
go to root explorer and copy file after file to desired location
if u see on PC that there is in folder system sub folder bin that mean u have to copy what is in bin folder in zip to root\system\bin and so on

You will need:
1. Computer
2. Some archiver, e.g., winrar
Steps:
1. Use a tool like root explorer on phone and navigate to /system/framework folder
2. Copy the file 'framework-res.apk' to some folder on SD card
3. Connect to computer
4. Copy the file from phone SD card to some location on computer, say desktop
5. Open winrar
6. Drag drop this file into that, or maybe use 'open with' option
7. Navigate to \res\drawable-hdpi-v4
8. Search for the file "default-wallpaper.jpg"
This is the file u would need to update.
Ah, thank you very much!

[Q] where is /data/preload folder on my phone?

Hey fellas,
I need to copy a file into folder /data/preload/ .
I cannot find this folder using the root explorer. Where is it?
I know it exists (or should exist) since system gives me an error message while applying OTA updates saying that a file is missing in that folder.
I have got the file now and want to put it back.
my phone:
HTC One M7,
rooted
stock recovery
s-on
bootloader unlocked/tampered

Does anyone know?
Thanks
Could it be in the system partition?
How can I access system partition?
In TWRP recovery I see an option named "mount" when I select it only the "data" in ticked.
Should I tick "system" as well, and it will mount the system partition? If so, then i can probably use the file browser of TWRP, find the data/preload folder and copy the missing file back in place. right?
download root browser, there is a free edition from play store as soon as you open it you will see the data folder on the list, its not in system, that's a separate folder.
you will need to copy the preload folder and its contents to that folder and change the permissions of the folder and contents.
you need to be rooted to use it.

Thanks Seanie.
So by default that folder does not exist? That's why I couldn't find it then!
I created the folder via root browser. What should be the permission for folder/apk file ?
now the preload folder permissions are rwsrwsrwt and apk file permissions are rw-rw----
does it make sense or should I change permission of filder and file both to 777 or 666 ?

It does initially exist, but if you've been flashing custom rom's and recoveries, then when you clear data it gets deleted, set permissions to rw-r-r- for the apk's etc and rwxr-xr-x for the folder

Download a valid update.zip to
use as a template - for example,
my CyanogenMod 0.7.
Extract the zip to a new folder and
rename it - let's call the folder
updatezip .
Inside the updatezip folder, delete
the system folder and boot.img
file (as these are the
CyanogenMod files that you don't
want).
For the ROM you want to convert,
extract the contents of its
system.rfs image to a new folder
called system.
Copy this new system folder to the
updatezip folder.
Copy the boot.img file from your
ROM to the updatezip folder.
Re-zip the contents of the
updatezip folder (but not the
updatezip folder itself). If you see
warnings about symlinks not
being added, don't worry - we
don't want to add them anyway.
You need to have some Linux shell
experience in order to do this. You
can't do it from Windows.

Well, it didn't work. I was successful at deleting the obb folder first. Then I copied the obb I have for my game then tried starting it. The file I copied just suddenly deleted itself from the obb folder.
Now, I can't also delete the obb folder.
And can you copy files to it now

Still not. I was only able to copy files after deleting the obb folder for the first time. Then, after that, Im not able to copy again.
I wish someone could help me.
create a folder on adnroird named something else, then copy the folder that u want inside there and after that rename folder obb and it works
Try using a computer to transfer your files to OBB folder.
