Bug? adobe flash 11.1 full screen black triangle - Galaxy Tab 8.9 General

Whenever I play flash video in browser full screen, with flash 11.1, I get a large black triangle covering half the video. When I uninstall updates, the problem goes away.
Any one else have this problem? Any way to fix it, and still update flash? It's my understanding there will be no more flash updates from adobe.

Any flash video does this? In which firmware? Stock 3.1, Stock 3.2, Overcome or the ICS alphas?
EDIT: Flash video is fine here. I also have the 7310. I am using firmware KJ5. Tested using normal browser and Opera browser, in full screen. No triangles here.

Stock 7310 wifi with stock browser. Seems to happen with lots of videos. When I roll back updates, it goes away.
Weird no one else has the issue.

You should try upgrading to the firmware I linked in my previous post. Do a backup of your apps of course, then do all wipes and flash away. I've been 2 months with KJ5 and the motley kernel. Smooth sailing compared to Stock KHA firmware the US retail unit comes with.

Possible fix for broken flash (ICS leak .230)

Hey guys, I have seen a number of posts about flash not working in the ICS leak .230
I myself had this issue and not being able to find a solution on the net, decided to experiment. I booted into recovery mode, cleared the cache and rebooted.
Viola! flash is now working for me, dont know if its a permanent fix, but it works for now.
anyone else had this work for them ?
Cleared cache, but no go.
OP - Did you test in the YouTube app or in another app, or in the actual browser webpage? If so, let me know what page. If you tested in the YT app, or another app, then you are being delivered mp4 content directly, not flash video.
Not working no flash
Cleaned the cache on the .232 still NO flash player.. NEED FIX PLZ!!!!!!!
Well it works on 6.7.232 for me.
I don't think I ever had an issue.
It worked for me on 2233 but hasn't worked on 230 or 232.
I have wiped cache before and after redownloading flash and tried the stock browser, easy browser, dolphin, and firefox and no luck.
I did Sam's lossless downgrade/upgrade.

Has it occurred to anybody that it is the browser's fault, not flash?
mines working....in the built-in browser...youtube app, etc. I'm on 230
Mine is working now. Just install this:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.adobe.flashplayer
Open that link on your phone. Select "Play Store" if prompted, then Install. You'll have to refresh any open browser pages to view video but it will work from then on.

There's your problem. If you are not wiping EVERYTHING (traditional FXZ to 902, upgrade to 905, then upgrade to 232), including deletion of personal data, then all bets are off. You have to do clean system install/upgrades.

sorry i didnt mention enough detail in OP; yes-I tested this in the stock browser on YT site, and a few other flash enabled sites, i.e. IGN and such. Then I exited out of the browser, launched YT app and verified playback there.
Be sure you are running the latest Flash version from the market, but I have had no problems since booting into recovery, wiping cache, and rebooting.
Any other details needed/questions?
:highfive:

Every other browsers just freeze and have to force close them... Try the browser and let me know if it works for you.... Don't forget to change the UI settings to desktop.... Makes things work better if the site your going too has mobile and desktop version..hope it helps..

Is Flash supported in ICS yet?

I have been using gingerbread still for the sole purpose of flash support. Is flash working on ICS for us? I spent an hour looking on google and didn't find much. Some devices work, like asus transformer. Some said on cm9 it works.
I've already upgraded to ics and downgraded back once, there was no way to make it work then. when ics first officially came out for us tho. German release.

Yes, all works, so what I understand Adobe is saying is there will be no updates or fixes, but you can still use without problems, until the time some new OS conflict makes it not work anymore. Then it is over.

Can you confirm that flash content plays fine on ICS in different browsers? (Stock,Opera,FireFox,Chrome,Dolphin HD)
I haven't found much discussion on this topic except for that people seem to have problem with adobe flash support after upgrading to ICS.
Flash...
Too bad adobe has decided to support on JB.
I have written this few times on other thread. But i m going to write again though.
Adobe has stopped its support for mobile device.
And adobe has even removed the flash app on google play since 15 or 16 august.
So, in theory, u won't be able to find adobe flash on google play.
Nevertheless, if u have installed it before u update to JB, flash player might still able to run.
And if u want to try after install JB, and u have the apk file for flash player, it might be able to run.
What adobe has decided is only to stop its support. Means no more update on flash player on mobile devices like android. Adobe will only concentrate on pc and laptop for its flash player.
Remember....
Google is our best friend. And it can give whatever u want.

No Flash support on ICS 4.04?

After updating my Note (India) to ICS 4.04 I noticed that flash no longer works in the stock browser. It is not even available in the PlayShop anymore.
I tried installing other browers too but non of them show the option to enable flash plug-in in their settings. (Have attached a screenshot of the settings page for your reference).
So how do we view flash based websites and flash video on ICS 4.04?
Any help with this issue would be most appreciated.

Why does flash not work on Galaxy Note?? I am using Note myself and its on Android 4.0.4, and flash works fine. See the screen shots.
But i do remember one thing while i was updating my Note from gingerbread to ICS. I got my Note updated to ICS but could not find SNote app in it, later I have factory reset my phone and then rebooted it. Then rather than booting automatically, it again went to Update mode and started instaling something. When my phone was ready with ICS, i got the SNote app. Try factory resetting and rebooting ur phone after backing up all the imp data, like pics, music, vids, contacts, apps(apk files) etc etc. Hope this works.

Did you get it to work after a reset? I am curious to find out as there is not much discussion out there with people confirming flash to work fine on ICS. (I am wondering if the performance is similiar or actually worse? Is hardware acceleration working on the Note with ICS for flash?) Many people seem to have problem with flash content after upgrading to ICS...

Updating P7310XWKJ5 with USA's ICS

Hi guys,
Just posting to say that yesterday I flashed the ICS from the USA on my P7310XWKJ5 (Europe).
All I needed to do was follow this great instructions:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1582943
The file to flash, by Odin, is this one:
http://www.hotfile.com/dl/169458139/5cca4ab/P7310UELPB_P7310XARLPB_XAR.zip.html
Guys... there is no need to worry. This is an official update from Sammy so if you have the Honeycomb stock there will be no problem at all.
I believe that Europe didn't receive the update only to avoid everyone in the world updating at the same time.
ICS with Touchwiz is simply great. The tablet is now much smoother and faster. ICS is much better then HC.
The only thing that you will lose in the update is the config of your 5 homes. Besides that, all your apps will be ok and your saved data.
Don't wait anymore... flashing Odin style and enjoy the best Samsung as to offer.
At least I did...
Cheers! Coragem com isso!
P.S: make sure you have the samsung drivers on your pc... to test it just install Kies and connect your tablet. If Kies recognizes your tablet then you are good to go.
BTW: no need to thank... I didn't do anything... I just pressed my balls against one another (crossed my fingers) and did the update. Thanks for your help almaalma74.

Has anyone else tried this method? I am tired of waiting here in Spain for the ICS update, and with Sammy's background there is a low probability of receiving it in the short-term. Which are the implications of install the USA version? Will I be able to use OTA for update the tablet in the future? Its better to install via CWM? I would appreciate any help. Thanks.

LOL, just gave you a free "thanks" - clicked wrong button.
Anyway, lots of people have done that - well, at least the update using the USA ICS, of course they were coming from a variety of ROM (not only that xwkj5)
Anyway, there's no reason it shouldn't work. A few people (strangely, mostly from Switzerland) had an issue, that the ICS failed to work properly (garbled screen) and found they had to Odin-flash a specific HC 3.2 version, and only then it worked. But that's a minority, and the solution is simple.
future OTA - if you load this ROM, you will get future OTA distributed to the "USA" market. (until you flash another region's ROM)
What to install... if you want to make sure to have the original ICS experience from Samsung (with nothing removed or added), I would recommend to use the stock file for Odin. If you want, you can follow that up with an Odin-flashable recovery & a root.zip flashed from recovery.
see e.g.
for download Odin-flashable recovery (I still prefer the slightly older 5.1.2.6 - for a more complete and logical menu than 5.5.0.4; and more reliable than 6.x)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=30839339&postcount=52
for root package:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=30837767&postcount=47
Thanks guys for the help. With the fingers crossed today I flashed the usa version via Odin. Simple procedure and very happy with the update. It preserved everything just like a normal update. So long any bugs, huge improvement of perfomance, certainly a new experience. I will try to root it in the nexts days when I have time. Thanks to everyone except Sammy

I updated my UK GT-P3710 with US Stock ICS via ODIN. Initially smooth and good update. I have had 3 freezes while updating Titanium Backup Pro around 100+ apps. I ended up restoring apps individually with no freezes. I also noticed some brief pauses while playing Airline Control which I have noticed in the past with ICS Custom roms.
I flashed CMW5.5.04 and then used original root from recovery to gain root. No problems. Camera is working great.
I am now trying to flash A1 kernel ver 1.7 wifi to see if I can overclock. FAIL so I restored original boot.img. Overclock might have to wait.
I am liking ICS so much I might get a Galaxy S3 now with rumours of JB update coming.

Just for info: Flashing using ODIN replaces the recovery as well.... so afterwards you will have to re-flash (again using ODIN) a custom recovery in order to continue playing...

[Q] Is my Tab dead?

I've been running CM 10.1 on my 7310 for a couple of months - it's slow, but it does the job.
Today it started misbehaving more than usual, so I rebooted. It's spent the afternoon rebooting itself about once every five minutes - freeze and hard reboot (Samsung splash screen). I tried different versions of CM and AOKP to figure out if it was hardware or software, no change.
I wiped it and flashed CM 9 nightlies a couple of hours ago, and got the same behaviour. After some googling I found aLogrec and turned it on. As soon as it boots and tries to start recording the logcat, it hard reboots. I figure the onboard flash storage is borked - is there anything I can do? I can't even get it to boot into Recovery, it just loops forever.
I'm hoping someone out there can give me some ideas before I go out and spend on a Nexus 7..
Have you tried to see what happens if you install official ICS with Odin?
