Sixaxis Controller problem! - Xoom Themes and Apps

Has anyone gotten the touch profiles to work with the Xoom? I can connect my sixaxis controller just fine, but touch profiles don't seem to work at all. I have created a profile, selected the profile, and set sixaxis controller as input device. I've tried it in games and touch test, but nothing at all. Any ideas?
Oh, and I've tried in both ICS and Honeycomb ROM's.

same here also on a motorola device ... mine is the motorola triumph ... i tried maping the keys through input mapping ... i succeeded until i got to the analog sticks ...everything else works ... reload, shoot, aim, switch weapons etc ... any idea on wut we should do ??

Same problem here. I can play with games that have key mapping, like Shadowgun. But not games that require touch mapping like backstab, mc3, ect.

.................bump?

Was'nt this a problem of a pervious version?
Since last update touch-profiles are working fine on my Xoom 3G (MZ601).

wut version r you using ??

Since yesterday I'm using version 0.4.0 (newest version from market) - and all seems fine... only function I miss is to emulate the g-sensor (and disable the real g-sensor) to get it working with NFS Hot Pursuit...

Can someone tell me how to get the buttons to work oxΔ#, start ,select. I can move but can't use the buttons

sixaxis help
This thread --> Sixaxis controller is here! <-- was started by the author of the Sixaxis app. He's really helpful and responded to me fairly quickly on here. I'm sure you could email for assistance also.
Also, where in Shadowgun is the gamepad support? It must be blatantly obvious because I can find it anywhere within the game.

I had this problem too when i went to ICS, but after updating from the market everything is fine

Thanks, I looked at this thread but could't tell if this was an app or the xoom could support the controller natively. Thanks

App suggestion - Use android phone as gamepad

Another suggestion if that's ok?
I had remembered that with the IOS vers. of the SNES emulator, that you could use you're iPod touch or iPhone as the controller.
Anyone know of any way to do that with an android phone? ie: use my android phone as a bluetooth gamepad to play emulators with.
I have searched google the past few days and have only seen the Wiimote apk. While that does work, it just seems more convenient to have a phone that is already with you able to do it, that and it only has a limited number of buttons.
Anyone else share the interest? Thanks! =)
+1 to this
I would definitely be interested in this as well, using your phone as the remote would be killer and extremely convenient!
That would be pretty cool. I hope someone develops something.
Yeah it would.
one up for this!
does a project like this exist (even under development) ? i just googled for an hour but i could not find anything useful.
Something that maps wifi signals from my phone to key press on my pc would be great to use with emulators
//edit
hehe... just after posting i found something
http://code.google.com/p/agamepad/
sadly its not under active development
oh and could somebody please move this thread to a more general android section? i just found it via google and then realized its in the xoom forums (where it does not belong imo)
This would be really cool.
Neat idea to contribute: Make it skinnable. So, you could maybe lay it out like the controller of whatever you're playing. (When using Nesoid, you could use an NES controller skin, when using Snesoid, you could use an SNES controller skin, etc.)
I'm more interested in using my phone as a bluetooth keyboard, but I suppose that could be part of it.
I have been looking for an app that will make my android phone into a remote control. I want to have my Xoom connected to my tv and use my phone to control the various media players that I use..
about android phone into gamepad/ keyboard
Hi, do have any news about this apps now? THANKS
try this
i use unified remote<full version> on a daily basis. it is my portable blue-tooth keyboard, media remote, mouse, etc... i even use it on my laptop. it comes with alot of preloaded remotes for various setups.i have never done it, but it does have a custom settings menu to make your own remote setup.. idk if this can control games, but as far as everything else, hellz yeah.
This is a great idea, skinnable would definitely be hot. Of course I got my PS3 controller working on my Xoom already....
I don't wanna root my device just to use my PS3 controller and I also dont have a OTG cable Im getting one in Nov though
well, i was looking for something like that as well. for weeks, but i found something great here at xda-developers its called "blueputdroid" https://market.android.com/details?id=berserker.android.apps.blueputdroid and its doing a great job even if the gamepad does not work this good .. but 4 example the psx4droid emulator made it possible to control via this app. its just need to be configured correctly.
oh thanks`, But "blueputdroid" is not suppot for my darky v10.2 Rom _ _!! and i also find some as similar as it " droidmote client" but it's support through WIFI only...
you can use DroidMote Server / Client in the android market.
look this video and search for other:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9NZWPAs3dxU
I'm not a great player and I am very tired after having developed a lot but this is a small example of the new features:

PS3 controller support

It appears as though there is an app out now to pair PS3 game controllers with Android devices via Bluetooth. Can someone download Sixaxis from the market and confirm functionality? According to the free device checker, our Xooms are compatible with this app.
Edit: Forgot to mention this requires root.

I tried it and it works great with the Xoom. I highly recommend it for the gamers. The perfect solution for playing with emulators.
Ive downloaded and paired Via Bluetooth. The only Problem im having with it is that cant configure the controller (well you can configure it but not for certain games) to play other games other then Roms it would be better if lets say there was a way to configure NOVA 2 That would be an epic way to play it
Good app
Great solution to the PS3 controller pairing issue.
I've messed around with this app a fair amount today on my Atrix, and loaded it on my Xoom just to see if I could copy the apk and run it fine on another device. Xoom isn't rooted so I can't tell you how it works on that device. However I will say that the controller configuration is extensive for which button does what. It seems to have just about any of the buttons you could expect to input from a D1 and a Play along with quite a few more to boot.
Since you're essentially mapping system inputs in place of button presses, it also solves the issue of multiple controllers on one device. I had previously hooked up a USB hub to the Xoom via OTG cable and was disappointed to find that inputs from two PS3 controllers registered exactly the same. Instead of input1_down and input2_down .. it was simply seeing keypad_down from both controllers, which made multiplayer impossible unless someone was willing to use a keyboard. (Perhaps a wiimote would have sufficed, but I couldn't tell you. I know a USB 360 controller registered as exactly the same inputs as the PS3 controller did.)
Using this app one controller can be inputting keypad_down, etc.. and another can be configured to use aswd and a few others, and yet another somewhere else on a keyboard's letters and symbols (or camera, volume, etc. buttons). It elegantly solves the multiplayer issue, up to 4 controllers.
It's $1.62 when I nabbed it, absolutely worth the cost and finally a pressing reason to root.
As far as games compatible with it, they would have to accept up,down, left, right, etc.. natively. It appears you can use the exact commands available to the Play, so you should see more widespread support for controllers in future games, and you should pester the devs of current games that don't support it to get with the program and add support for the Play, since that will kill two birds with one stone.
Thanks guys! Guess I will have to pick up a PS3 controller today

[Q] Sixaxis Controller on Android 4.0.3

Hi all,
For people who dont know what it is, SixAxis Controller allows you to play games on Android with your PS3 controller. In the latest versions developers included touch emulation, which allow to play games like PES2012 with virtual keyboards.
So yesterday I tried SixAxis Controller 0.3.7...this is the resume of that experiment:
Install. OK
Check Compatibility. OK
Pair Controller. OK
Create a profile to PES2012. OK
Playing. FAILED (No response to controller inputs)
Does anyone tried SixAxis Controller on Nexus S?
Which OS version are you running?
Do you have this problem?
Best Regards
I've tried version 0.3.9 on my galaxy s and it works fine except for the touch profiles which don't seem to work at all!
Btw, I'm on teamhacksung building 12 of ics 4.0.3

Yep, tested 0.3.9 version and the touch profiles still dont work on nexus s 4.0.3 stock rom...
Same thing happened to me when playing gta
playing GTA3 from NS4G ics only gave me analog stick & d-pad control...I even downloaded premade controller maps that people claim work flawlessly and it still wouldn't work for me.
Doesn't work for me!!
I'm using teamhacksung build 15 on Samsung Galaxy S (GT-i9000).
I manage to connect the gamepads but there's no response in the games... any idea??
Worked ok on GTA III
It was a little unresponsive but I think its cause I only have like a gig left...slow....phone...
I'm having problems too.
My Dualshock can connect to my Nexus S, it works on my homescreen with moving, but when I want to play a game (Age of zombies, Nova 3) it doesn't work..

Sony Ericson XPERIA PLAY gamepad?

Just asking if there were a way we could use the keyboard as a gamepad similar to the xperia play's one? It could be great tu be able to use the keyboard to play games, and very much more user-friendly.
Thanks
Well in most emulators on the market, you can map the keys to controller buttons. I use Gameboy A.D. from the market and it's great with the D3 keyboard.

Sixaxis controller from market and a ps3 controller ftw.
Yeah, but for other games (native games for android) that's not possible. I don't have a PS3, i'm playing on a XBOX 360.

With native games I just use sixaxis in "touch" mode and setup the profile to match the button overlay in the game. The controllers keypresses emulate touch events so it works 100% with anything that allows touchscreen or key(hardware button) input. You can have the controller emulate a touchscreen, keyboard and/or mouse so... a 20$ ps3 controller(any pawn shop has them used etc, just make sure it's bluetooth and not the 2.4ghz with a dongle) and d3 car mount screwed to it > gamegripper imo. Trying to upload you a screenshot of the profile setup, once you see that you'll know for sure it works with anything that runs on droid, including the home app/any app/game but its being stuborn, I'll get it up in a bit.
Edit: Uploaded that screenshot of the profile setup with my fpse profile loaded. The buttons aren't shown when playing a game or anything, only time you see where the button taps are position on the screen is when making/editing profiles so nothing interferes. sorry it took so long, used a friends laptop just to get them up lol. You'll notice I have the analog buttons overtop of the digital pad so I can use either/switch during gameplay etc

Does it Support PS 3 Controllers

does it support ps 3 controllers standerd or would i need to download a third party software
You need an app, like sixaxis controller from the play store.
Send from my lovely Sensation XL, from a little town in france with a very very slow internet connection.

native support of a PS3 controller? not a chance in hell.
use this :
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...ixaxiscompatibilitychecker&feature=nav_result
then this:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...elstudios.sixaxiscontroller&feature=nav_other
Or connect it via Wire using the OTG adapter

What you mean not a chance in hell? Native game pad support was added way back in Honeycomb.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
the ps3 controller is not a "native game pad." it's not designed to work on everything, just the PS3.
hell, it's complicated enough getting it to work on a PC.

The point is, Android supports PS3 controllers and Xbox controllers, yes, game developers have to implement it, but there are alternative means if they don't.
Game developers don't write drivers for gamepads. They are either in the system itself (like Samsung provides for some models e.g. Galaxy S3) or can be added with Apps like Sixaxis. The games themselves only have to react to key events.

I think the point he meant is that it is up to game developers to add in alternative control options, I.e. an option to support the native game pad drivers in Android. Apps like six axis are only necessary because most game developers have yet to add in anything but on screen controls.

Still waiting for my N10....but on my TF101 and TF700 I had native PS3 wired support post ICS. There are specific games that are optimized for this so that you can map out the buttons in game. Shadowgun and Dead Reckining are the first two that come to mind. Just search for android games with controller support, play store entries normally tell you if its supported or not....most EA games are not...

That is what I meant with reacting to key events (gamepad signals are a subset of that).
Sixaxis does more than just mapping gamepad controlls to touch events (though that is indeed cool). It lets you remap all the buttons to whatever you want. That way you can use two controllers for e.g. MAME second player, where Android normaly does only know one controller (judging by names of key event keys, correct me if I am wrong). Also, it does allow using Sixaxis controllers via Bluetooth.
Trying to configure
Hey guys, I'm in the process of trying to connect the nexus 10 up to a sixaxis controller.
I've rooted my device and have downloaded the compatibility checker. When trying to run the compatibility checker, it is responding with: "Could not start driver. Check that your device is rooted and has been given permission to run".
I've double checked fastboot, and can see the open lock icon when booting so I'm pretty confident it's rooted. I've got super user installed but don't receive a prompt when running the app.
Has anyone else tried, or experienced similar? Is this just the response when your device is incompatible?
---------- Post added at 09:47 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:23 PM ----------
Okay, well looks like I misunderstood slightly. It turns out that unlocking the bootloader does not grant root access.
Looks like I'll have to wait until someone managed to root it!
Whoops.
Bard's Tale works out of the box with the PS3 controller. USB-attached only right now, however. But it does work.
There's also another thread that has a kernel with HIDRAW support. That's most probably all what sixaxis needs in order to work (See more here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=34429135&postcount=72 )
Sixaxis controller doesn't work yet with 4.2. I've talked to the developer, he says he is re-writing the bluetooth drivers because Google introduced a new bt stack in 4.2. He says he hopes to release the update with support within a week.

Do you mean OTG? There is a difference between that and micro -> standard. OTG cables short the 5th pin to ground.
sixaxis doesn't work on 4.2 (...yet). The bluetooth stack is screwed up. I've updated to 4.2.1 and sixaxis still doesn't work for me.
I used it a lot with my galaxy nexus with 4.1, but it too is now on 4.2. Argh.
So don't get a N10 with the intent to use it with a ps3 controller. Not until a fix is released. Using an xbox 360 controller with usb otg should work however (that may be true about the ps3 controller as well, since there is a keylayout for the ps3 controller in system/usr/keylayout/ but I couldn't get it working with my usb otg)
