[Stock ROM] N7000XXLA3 Installation n Experience - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Android Development

New Stock ROM XXLA3
GT-N7000 N7000XXLA3 Android 2.3.6 2012 January N7000OXALA3 Open Europe
http://hotfile.com/dl/141781856/f226b7d/N7000XXLA3_N7000OXALA3_OXA.rar.html
pass: samfirmware.com
So just I have install XALA3,
No doubt it is fast n smoother than LA7 my previous ROM
Edit : battery management is improved, I can say it consumes 10-20 % less thn KL7 my previous ROM. particularly with 3G, without data connection it is almost same.
I have played 5 min only with new ROM, But better I am writing Installation guide,
I will share experience later.
What I have done to update
- My previous ROM was KL7 + Root + CWM
- I have make backup of previous ROM using CWM, as well Titanium (optional)
- Downloaded LA3, N extracted
- Made a folder on Ext SD card named "firmware"
- Copy these three files to Ext SDcard/firmware (To a folder created as above said)
CODE_N7000XXLA3_CL880036_REV02_user_low_ship.tar.md5
GT-N7000-MULTI-CSC-OXALA3.tar.md5
MODEM_N7000XXLA3_REV_05_CL1095424.tar.md5
Opened CWM,
you have to click on " Flash stock firmware"
made couple of click to confirm
when asked which file to use for 'caches' selected Multi CSC *
When asked Rooting, i selected ' CF ROOT'
Done
It Took 5 min to finish, Now I am having LA3 + Root + CWM
Indian language support +(tried hindi n gujarati)
This is wipe version, will erase System partition
Get data back with Titanium backup/ 'data backup' from CWM if you have made.
Alternate Method
You can Use Mobile Odin Pro, by selecting Code * file + enable everroot option

I think so.
Try it but pls. note, you have NO CWM-Recovery!
Its rooted "only".

Later CWM can be added with CF Root (when available), may be CF Root LA1 will work.

You can't root la1/la3 directly. You have to root first older rootable rom, root it n use mobile odin or cwm to update la1/la3.

[Q] does the leaked ics rom comes with root and cwm or should v do it

after installing the leaked ics rom for galaxy note how to root it n get cwn on it......?
Download Chainfire's RE_PACKED ICS. its Pre-rooted. you should flash this ROM using CWM. that means you need to install CWM for the current ROM.
Best to come from a CF-Root earlier ROM like LA1 or similar.
-Download and ChainFire Repack .tar file (from ChainFires thread in development) and place on sd card.
-Download ICS ROM you require and place on sd card.
-Open Mobile Odin Pro and in it “Open File”; Click Internal or External SD Card (wherever you placed the .tar file from step 4”); locate folder where you placed CF-repack .tar file, click on the .tar file; ensure EverRoot & the 3 “Inject” options are checked; then “Flash Firmware”. Phone will go into cwm recovery after this.
Stay in recovery and do the following
- Fullwipe (factory reset)
- Install update (from sd card used)
- Find the your ICS zip and flash
- Fullwipe (factory reset) again. This is important.
- Reboot device.
Worked like a charm for me retaining full r/w root.
I installed Midnote 2.0 ics running very smooth. Also tried TR ICS 1.5 but finding Midnote a little better imo.

ICS Repack

I know its a real bad question. But i am unable to find a direct link for the ChainFire repack LP1 for ICS.
Everylink that i click takes me to a stupid page which downloads a EXE and not the actual tar file.
Help please.
Ps-I do not want torrent
Here you go.
Thanks BSOD. I too have been trying to download for over a day. Everyone makes reference and point to the same download link that want you to download everything but the file in questioned. Thanks again.
Thanks BSOD.
I just completed downloading the file...
Are there any instructions on how to get this on GB..
My search only results in "Flash Chanfire repack"
My present situation
Rooted GB
I want to be in
ICS Stunner
For this activities i need to do is
1. Install chainfire ICS and then flash the ICS stunner
i guess I have instructions of how to proceed with stunner
Are all the procedures using Mobile Odin? I do not want to pay for any app.
Can i get these done through CMW or PC Odin ? If yes, can someone please list the steps here

Your GB must be rooted.
If it is do the following:
1. place LP1 Repack tar (it must be tar - if you have downloaded a zip, extract tar archive) on your SD Card
2. buy Mobile Odin Pro, or download Mobile Odin Light if you cannot buy Pro, and install it.
3. start MO, go to 'Open file...'
4. select Repack tar
5. MO will automagically sort what goes where (kernel, data, etc.)
6. tick all options offered (enable everroot, inject superuser, inject MO, also Wipe data and cache if you have MO Pro)
7. tap Flash
8. after your Repack is flashed, reboot the phone from Recovery
9. let the Repack settle for 5 - 10 minutes
10. go back to Recovery
11. factory reset, wipe cache, wipe dalvik
12. flash Stunner
13. reboot and enjoy.

why when i go to mount and storage .. i see efs is unmount ? i never see that when i using GB
any answer ?
Let them give us an update or two and the lag will be gone...
Just remember the first Gingerbread roms, they were laggy as hell, and starting from LA* roms, they got smooth as butter.
I'm sure they will improve over time with a few minor updates.

A lot of my friends who updated the German ICS ROM also complaining about this.
Well, they use Apex, No launcher and it solve the problem.
I updated to ICS today (my Note is a German Note), and found it lags a lot more than GB. I guess since many people are having this problem, it's just the way it is.
Another thing I don't get is why there's the SMemo and the SNote? They both seem the same, at least very similar. Can anyone tell me the difference?
Tweak it Right
I feeling this too, gb room is still faster,
But dont worry and be pation,
I am sure soon there will be many custom ics rom build with faster performance .

Rooting Note on ICS ROM PROBLEM

Hi,
I am new to Android Phones. I tried to root my Galaxy Note using the above method
2. Long, No raised couter OR Exclamation mark
-Downgrade to Rootable GB ROM and Root it. OR Download This pre rooted GB ROM and flash using PC Odin
-Wipe cache, data and delvic cache from recovery
-Install Mobile Odin Pro
-Copy ICS ROM file in .tar (you want to flash) to Internal SD card (recommended, but you can have it on EXT too)
-Download Odin (.tar) version of custom kernel like Notecore, Speedmod, CF root kernel Or other any with same function. If newbies have confusion to select, here is one for example Notecore V12 std kernel. You can use this. But newer version can be found on link mentioned above.
-Open Mobile Odin Pro
-select open file
but i run mobile odin without downloading the odin version of custom kernel (I got confused, I thought I needed to do thisafter running mobile odin) and now my phone is stuck in flashing mode for about 45mins switching on and off.
What should I do?
Thank you in advance for your help...
Christina
Flash Pre rooted ROm again Wipe cache and data and repeat procedure, that will be safe.
It worked! Thank you!
Just a quick question...
I followed all the steps mentioned on the thread up to installing mobile odin and copying the ics rom....
but I am confused with the odin version of custom kernel...I am trying to find the correct cf-root kernel through the link you provided but I can not find the KJ1. I downloaded the one you have attached below mobile odin screenshots. Is that ok?
And also where do I copy the kernel? Internal or external sd? Should it be in a specific directory in order to be detected by mobile odin?
Sorry for all these questions but I looked around and there is no specific instructions anywhere about this part.
Thank you...
Which rom you want to flash?

Since I am new to the android platform phones, I think it will be better if i explained what my objective is so I won't confuse you too....
I want to be able to install and use rooted applications like titanium back up. I read that in order to do this I have to root my phone.
So what I want to do now is to root my phone in order to use ie titanium black without upping my flash counter.
Also I do not care to have a custom ICS, I prefer the stock one for now until I become more familiar with all these.
I followed the steps but the customn kernel things has confused me.
My phone is as mentioned before a galaxy note with ICS 4.04 before I started the procedure, now I have Gingerbread 2.35.
What should I do?
Thank you

Thank you for the quick reply!!!
Just to be sure, when you say first method you mean the one below
1. Short, easy - requires to reset counter
-Download Odin (.tar) version of custom kernel like Notecore, Speedmod, CF root kernel Or other any with same function. If newbies have confusion to select, here is one for example Notecore V12 std kernel. You can use this. But newer version can be found on link mentioned above.
-Flash it using PC odin for PDA tab.
-You will get exclamation mark and raised counter, which can be reset with Triangle Away
-First time opening triangle away application, it will ask to download file(flasher), let it complete. then choose to reset counter, it will restart in special recovery an finish job.\
If yes, then this brings us back - almost - to my original question....how do i use the custom kernel (cf or notecore) with odin? I know it uzips to a zimage etc but how do I use it which odin? Also which cf kernel -if iuse this one- is correct for my phone? Is there a link you can provide that explains all these?
