[Init.d Scripts] Screen State + Zip Align & Other Mods. - Xperia Arc Android Development

Hi guys!
A few months ago i used to have a SGS i9000T and there were some really good init.d Scripts done by user Pikachu01 and Zacharias.Maladroid (Ref: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1296927.
I've modded 2 of the scripts to work in our Beloved Arc's to give us a nicer experience plus saving some battery while doing so.
What Scripts are we talking about?
Screen State Scaling
ZipAlign
Screen State Scaling Script:
This script basically tells the phone what CPU Governor use while the screen is on either ON state or OFF state. So you can now choose two different governors to rule your phone when you're using it and when you're not.
I've added a simple list of available governors (Conservative, ondemand, interactive, interactiveX, smartass, smartassV2) and you can choose which ones to use while the screen is "Awake" and when it is "Sleeping".
The script also provides some tweaks to each governor to make it more aggressive in the case of ondemand and SmartassV2 and also to make more battery saving for conservative.
Darky_ZipAlign:
This script will provide a better and faster zipalign of ALL System Apps at boot which will definetely improve the RAM Usage of those apps.
What we need?
DoomKernel V17 (Stock also works but not all governors are avaliable)
Any Root Application in case you want to modify the script
HOW TO?
First of All do a Backup throug Recovery in case anything breaks!
Download and Put Jimbo's Teawks.zip in the Sdcard
Install Zip from SDcard through Recovery
Wipe both Cache and Dalvik Cache right after the flashing of the zip file.
I've installed the Script, now What?
Congratulations you now have your system Apps Zipaligned at boot which will definetely improve them and also you now have two governors for each screen state, one while it's ON and one while it's OFF.
You've also gained some UI Tweaks done to the build.prop (Most of them are already known and applied).
NOTES:
I'm not responsible by any damage (which is almost impossible to happen) occured to your phone.
Default Governors are: Screen On ="SmartassV2" & Screen OFF ="Conservative"
CPU Freq While Screen is ON = Max:1209600 Min:134400
CPU Freq While Screen is OFF = Max:460800 Min:134400
The script Also includes a "renice" for some system apks just like "lpysmooth" script
I don't like the default governors you've set, how do i change them?
Simple, using Root Explorer go to system/etc/init.d and open S98screenstate_scaling. Here navigate to the line where it says: "Selection of Awake Governors:" and delete the # symbol of the desired "governor". If the governor you like is not on the list please add the exact name in between of " " and do not put a # at the beginning of it. By Any Reason leave two Governors Uncomented or without a #.
The same procedure should apply for the Sleep Governor.

Open the .zip file using Winrar and from there delete the S98screenstate_scaling script and then install it from Recovery.

Nice and great stuff, but arc s clocks on standard already with 1.4GHz. So how to change clockspeed for screen on?

What speed would you like it to be? I can modify it and send you the script

1.4 like stock should be fine. Don't need oc, just drains battery much faster

I use an app called cpu tuner for the screen state underclocking.

Will flashing this zip reset the changes I've made to the build.prop?

a noob question, which freq did my cpu running when in deep sleep?

This is 2.3.4, which is stock kernel
ok i install this kernel on zeus 6.3n. i know, that was madness.
seem to work, lg bootup, but when i switch screen on home screen, was laggy, even how to set the 1300 MHz which cpu master.
test in Quadrant in 5 round per row show only max 1056 points.
I tested about 20 minutes, so the more I can not tell

It works fine over V20O and Q as far as i tested no heating but more speed!

scaling/governor: performance;
I/O scheduler: sio
check the CPU SPY screen shot.
the cell mainly stays on the minimum scaling when not used, which is very essential for the battery.
overall, the performance is snappier than stock (obvious thing)

so does this kernel like really solves this problem? and how do i install it?

yes it has.
How's Smartreflex and MPU? You can check via dmesg. If something shows "hub_opp_init: MPU does not support XXXX MHz" then you have a problem. frequencies may show but there would be complications on voltages.
The slowness is via DVFS IMO. better use init.d, "scaling_max_freq" for OC.

For me in v029 it did never happen (tried with v09a and v09c)... In gingerzaraki final also never happened (push the button and the screen does not turn on instantly).
But it often happens in v030, returning to gingerzaraki... Simple and fast

haven't tried gdx 30 YET. but i've experienced the wake up bug on some jb roms. now the problem may have different causes, but have you guys tried staying on ondemand governor? or setting a higher min frequency on cpu? like i said, it's probably not going to work, but it's worth a try.
[cAs]
People having this problem can try the next flashable zip: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1667297&d=1358875962 .
As I've explained before in the GingerDX thread ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=37044702&postcount=12246 ), at least in stock kernel, the PERFORMANCE governor is the default and it is reverted back as the default after each reboot, you can change it in the Performance menu but it will not pick up the values set in hw_config.sh.
For those of you who are with a custom kernel, you can check this by going to the Performance menu and entering CPU Settings. If PERFORMANCE is selected as the governor and you haven't touched this, it means that the custom kernel version has the same problem as the stock one.
Why does this matter? This might have something to do with the phone not being able to come out of deep sleep. So you can try the flashable zip. It basically guarantees that ONDEMAND is selected as the default governor with the values that have been working for our phone.

I can't guarantee that.
The X8 here never had that problem and it's running with the script that's inside the flashable zip. So, as I said, it might solve the issue.
What I can guarantee is that, at least for stock kernel, the intended governor with its intended values will be loaded. That's not the case with the latest release of GingerDX. The values are there, but they're not loaded correctly.
I had deep sleep only when screen was off and I pluged in charger. Gdx v30 + alfs 9c

I made no change performance in CyanogenMod settings, did not check what was the governator and native frequency, but I am back to gingerzaraki in this i never had this problem =D I did proper installation on v030: full wipe, rom (the same kernel v09c), libsensors and gapps

As I've explained in the GingerDX thread, you can do that but the values for the governor won't be loaded. What values? These:
Code:
echo 80 > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/ondemand/up_threshold
echo 40 > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/ondemand/down_differential
echo 400000 > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/ondemand/sampling_rate
echo 122880 > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_min_freq
They're present in the hw_config.sh and are expected to be loaded at boot, as ONDEMAND is. They don't. They slightly modify how the governor behaves for our phone.
Having said that, just changing ONDEMAND as the governor via CyanogenMod Settings might do the trick.

Requirements
REQUIREMENTS
Most importantly your phone
init.d support
Android 4.1+
what's in init.d scripts?
4.1 cpufreq_governor
21cpufreq_governor script sets the governor that contorls the CPU's thresholds and sampling_rates
4.2 cpufreq_screenstate_scaling
31cpufreq_screenstate_scaling script defines the governor values and decides the actions based on the phone's state - conservative, ondeman, lazy, awake, sleep modes. I've changed lots of values from Calk's original script to save more battery power thru this script. As indicated in Calk's original thread for FD02, this script would not run if you have already installed some CPU control apps something like OC Widget, Quick Clock, SETCPU, and Android OC.
4.3 tweaks_kobridge
41tweaks_kobridge script has almost everything in it to improve the network speed, sdcard tweaks, other battery saving tweaks, VM management, Kernel, wifi tweaks, etc. For some of the values in here, there are some overlaps with build.prop tweaks. So, if you do not apply the tweaks to the build.prop file, many tweaks would still work.
4.4 zipalign
zipalign is an archive alignment tool introduced first time with 1.6 Android SDK (software development kit). It optimizes the way an Android application package (APK) is packaged. Doing so enables the Android operating system to interact with the application more efficiently, and hence has the potential to make the application and overall the whole system much faster. Execution time is minimized for zipaligned applications, resulting is lesser amount of RAM consumption when running the APK.
If less number of applications with an unaligned home application, you’d see slower application launch times. This is the best case scenario. For a worst case scenario, having a number of unaligned applications will result in the system repeatedly starting and killing processes, struggling with lags and huge battery drain.
4.5 Wifi Sleep Wait timer
What this tweak does is, it controls the time until wifi sleeps after the screen turned off. By default, it's 15 minutes. So, even you turned off the screen, by default, phone will wait for 15 minutes and then turn off the wifi. By using this tweak, you will have the control over wifi idle time until wifi sleeps.

[KERNEL] G903F Optimized Kernel

Hi guys.
Here i share my custom Kernel for the S5 Neo.
For now i enabled default governors (conservative, ondemand, powersave & performance).
I added conservativex governor (to test how this works). Change them with Kernel Auditor
SELinux is Permissive.
Usually I'm developing PHP-Webapps but now i try my skills in Android Kernel Developement.
Next i want to add some more governors, I/O Shedulers and maybe something like FauxSoundControl, update the Kernel Source and so on.

It would be great if you can enable init.d support too please. FauxSound is good to hear
Thanks.

Yep. But something begin to make me angry. More and more games consider xposed like hacking and the game does not want to start due to security notice....

Maybe use an xposed module like RootCloak to hide root & xposed from those apps.

Excuse my "Newbie"Question, but how do i install the Kernel?
Do i have to install this first?
https://twrp.me/devices/samsunggalaxys5neoexynos.html
thx anyway and regards
last night I left the phone with no apps running and 43% battery and in the morning I found it switched off and in a boot loop with the S logo and "SE linux not enforcing" or something alike. I booted in twrp and luckily I had a full backup from the day before yesterday so I restored the boot. Should have been selected wipe dalvik cache after flashing the kernel?
every time you flash something dalvik should be wiped

yes, you need to install TWRP with Odin
after install
-boot to TWRP Recovery with VOL+ , POWER & HOME keys
-go to backup and make a backup at least from boot partition,
-go to install and select the downloaded file.
-install it and wipe dalvic+cache
-reboot
@zwieblauch ty for the kernel I'm trying to let your kernel be known by more s5 neo users so I'm writing it in the root thread ...for sure if it's only ok for you
