8107 update has started - Omnia 7 Windows Phone 7 Development

Just got an update. Unlocked Omnia 7

If you have unlocked your phone, check the value here:
HKLM\System\Platform\DeviceTargetingInfo\MobileOpe rator="Your carrier name should be here"

Yes, it is unlocked. Value type is "String" and value data is "000-88". Value name is "MobileOperator"

Also received update 1 hour ago... Unlocked device.

Just updated to 8107.79 as well (via Zune, normally, without early disconnection trick or anything):
Omnia 7 ex-TMobile UK branded, SIM locked, unbranded, running on T-Mobile UK
Then I injected latest KK2 firmware for unbranded devices with WP7 Cab Sender, bumping the firmware version to 2424.11.11.2 (from 2424.11.11.1) and bootloader to 5.11.1.8 (from 5.11.0.3). Radio remained unchanged on 2424.11.9.1 version.
The device feels as if it has been reseted, speedier and got about 30 MB more of space.
Under settings->mobile network, the 3G toggle has been substituted with a drop down list named ''Highest connection speed'' with two options: ''E'' (Edge I suppose), and ''3G''. I prefered the toggle.
Internet Sharing is still there and works (although UserProcGroup has been set to 20 from 5, allowing 20 simultaneous connections?), homebrew still work, remained dev unlocked and interop unlocked.

Nothing on my Orange UK branded phone which says 7.10 (7740) o_o
A question that isn't something I could find a definitive answer to... is it possible to flash unbranded firmware and remain officially supported by WinPho with future updates? The phone itself is SIM unlocked as I'm on T-Mobile but everything else is locked up tight thanks to Orange. I'm considering unlocking for homebrew stuff at a later time after missing out on the Chevron unlock.

Yes, of course you will still get updates if you flash a branded phone to a unbranded firmware. I flashed a 3 mobile phone with unbranded and have received all the updates quicker than if I hadn't.
The only support you will lose is from your carrier, for example if there was a fault they probably wouldn't accept it for repair because you flashed it. Tiny chance you'd ever have to worry about that and you can always flash back to your original firmware if I'm not mistaken....
I'm sure someone will correct me if required

Good to know, I will try when I go home

At least in my case, you CAN, but they changed the onn/off toggle with a GPRS/3G list.

it didn't change in mine maybe it's because i'm not uk version

I have not received the 8107 update, so I updated with the CAB. Now the phone shows
PDA: I8700XXKK2
Phone: I8700XXKI1
CSC: I8700XEHJK4
Is it normal that PDA and Phone firmware are different or did I do something wrong?
Also the CSC XEH looks like a phone from Hungary. A little strange, since I am in Germany and I got the phone directly from Microsoft. Does it make sense to change this?

Hi Osso17,
A couple of not-so-silly questions (I hope) from a novice:
- I have an Omnia 7 branded on the Optus (Australia) network. I didn't get the samsung components as part of the 8107 update. Should I have?
- Is it okay to apply the samsung components (unbranded) to an Optus branded device? Will this "walsh" my phone?

Hi....this Samsung update (KK2) is only for Omnia 7 no-brand and you can not receive......Have Optus brand and it is better to do the firmware updates only for your brand

I have just received the update and when I tried to update to 8107, Zune give me an error, 80180008.
Any idea how to solve this?

[Q] Kies branded my unbranded Phone

Hi,
Last week, I bought an unbranded Galaxy S on a well known French Site. The phone was unbranded.
I installed the Kies software, and when I plugged my phone Kies told me I could update the firmware. I updated the firmware, and when I restarted the phone, it was not in french anymore, but the language was set to portugese, and my phone was branded for the TMN operator in Portugal.
I'm still able to use my phone with my sim card from belgium, but my phone is full with undesired logos and apps.
I've seen that it's possible to reflash an offficial ROM in the phone, but my version of Kies won't let me do this anymore.
I'd like to update to the latest unbranded French/belgian/The nertherlands version.
Is this still possible? I've found some ProductCode, but I was unable to find a corresponding HIDSWVER.
Thanks!

Hmmm... Sonuds to me like whoever you bought it from had flashed it so that it wiuld seem like it was unbranded but in reality it was a TMN device all along.
I believe that if you have upgraded your kies version to the _100 version then the registry trick will no longer work so you would have to flash it with odin.
If anyone else can chime in or if im wrong then please correct me.

I doubt someone flashed it as i had an original brand new unopened box. It was certainly not second hand.

Well its awfully odd that after flashing to the official froyo firmware on kies that it would just all of a sudden become branded.
Think about this... People use odin and even rhe reghack on kies to upgrade to "unbranded" firmware so it would only make sense that if you flashed using kies official firmware that it would revert the device to its original and branded status.

Unfortunately, that is possible We got many such a reports about phones bought in Polish markets, see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=8927826&postcount=92
Is Poland some phones were debranded and re-selled by mobile operators to markets. Unfortunately phones didn't get clean ProductCode and that way Kies updated firmware using version for original mobile network operator.
What about downgrading Kies and then doing the reg hack to reflect an unbranded earlier version of the firmware for your region and flashing through Kies again??
Same happened to me, bought the international version at handtec.co.uk, got the phone shipped to Mexico, and first upgrade I did on KIES installed a TMN branded firmware.
I didn't like the branded firmware, specially with all that SAPO apps, I rooted phone, installed titanium backup and deleted all apps, now only problem I have is a dancing "t" character showing on startup and shutdown.
Haven't found the reason for this, or the way to change to a unbranded UK firmware.

This should work. Check the codes for your country either that or reflash it with odin

The solution is written almost in every thread on this forum in last 4-5 days:
You have to downgrade to the older version of Kies, then make changes in the registry:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Samsung\Kies\DeviceDB\4]
"SoftwareRevision"="I9000XXJF3/I9000OXAJF3/I9000XXJF3/I9000XXJF3"
"ProductCode"="GT-I9000HKDXEU"
"HIDSWVER"=""
"DEVCONINFO"=""
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Samsung\Kies\]
"LocalVer"="1.5.3.10103.100"
Then you should be offered to upgrade to unbranded JPO for UK

[Q] Will my phone re-lock?

Hi
I have bought a used HTC HD7 for about $330 in India. I love this phone, its so cool.
It shows O2 splash screen when it starts. I am using Vodafone Indian sim.
OS Ver: 7.0.7392.0
FW: 2250.09.16901.206
My questions:
1. How can I check if my phone was unlocked by Chevron or something else?
2. If I update my phone via Zune, will it re-lock again?
3. Any possibility to disable the 'Bing Search' button on the phone or reassign it with another app?
Thanks
Mani

I dont think that OS version can be unlocked but its mad easy to unlock it go to the hd7 forum flash a pre NODO rom there should be instructions on the post then go to the how to chevron unlock forum do that and it also tells you how to prevent relocking so you can update back to NODO but when i update all teh way to the mango beta it relocks idk if this only happens to me tho
PLEASE-- someone tell me how can I know if my phone was unlocked by operator or jailbroken?
I bought it used from grey market. It shows O2 UK splash screen when it starts but is working fine on my Vodafone India sim. I can install apss from Zune too.

Jailbroken!=Unlock. You said it shows o2 uk splashscreen and yet your vodafone sim card works in it, so it is unlocked. You cannot unlock your phone with jailbreak, you can just sideload apps (chevron unlock)
2>Your phone will not relock if you update (If you are talking about network lock)
3>As of now, no
as far as i read this topic...
unlock is different from jailbreak....
ur phone isn't jailbreaked(chevroned)...but it's unlocked...
jailbreaking give u option to install cracked software and there is no need to install app just through market place...u can install apps through pc...(no market place...)
if u want to jailbreak ur phone u need to restore u phones ver to 7008...and then u can jailbreak it...(updating to 7392 will make ur jailbreak gone...)
Thanks rhn and mido-mido.
I am glad that my HD7 will not 'network re-lock' when it updates to Mango. Hoping to get Mango update soon.

Thanks but I would wait for the official update. I have had some bad experiences in the past with custom roms. My facebook and gmail accounts were hacked after I updated my Samsung phone with a custom rom last year.
So I stay away from them unless its too important.

SM-G973F no update available

Hey guys!
Today I have purchased my first Samsung device since Galaxy S2 (I've been using xiaomi since then) and I have met a bit of an issue with my phone. The current version installed is One UI 1.1 (June 1 security patch) and the phone says it's the latest version. I have purchased it from Hungarian Telekom provider. Is it possible, that the provider is handling OTA updates? If so, is it possible to install the generic version instead of the provider firmware via odin? I thought provider OTA is no longer an existing stuff, but It seems that it's not.
Thanks for the answers!
Edit: most importantly: is it possible to relock bootloader if I wanted to sell it sometime?
Yes, the provider handles the updates unless you are on the unlocked Samsung firmware in which case Samsung itself will provide updates. There are tons of firmware files floating around the forums here, you might be able to flash one if one works with your phone.
Thanks, I'm surely gonna do it if the bootloader can be locked back.
Frija App should be able to help you download the correct firmware. Just be sure to install the Visual C++ Runtimes (2008 and 2010) before launching the app.

SM-G977B - Flash to BTU not working but ODIN Passes

Hey all
Strange one here, i have a SM-G977B (S10 5G on EE UK), i have unlocked it and trying to flash BTU firmware on it via ODIN (download fw from sammobile)
It flashes ok and passes but when phone starts up its CSC is TEL! (Australia!!)
I have re done the flash with XEU and still the same. firmware version says TEL/TEL/EVR in settings
any ideas on this? can this model be flashed to a different region? i want it on BTU not EVR (EE UK)
tried few versions of ODIn too, and left all check boxes default
Thanks
ok, i have reflashed the latest EVR firmware back to the phone and it has taken this fine
Wonder why it doesnt like BTU or XEU?
What firmware files were you trying to flash specifically?
Sounds like you downloaded the wrong one. What are the names of the firmware files you flashed?

Hi
Tried these
https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/firmware/SM-G977B/BTU/download/G977BXXS2ASJ7/299842/
https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/firmware/SM-G977B/XEU/download/G977BXXS2ASJ7/299840/
The above all flash on in Odin, but when the phone starts (even with uk sim in the phone) it defaults to Australia language and 2x Telstra apps install automatically, software info says tel/tel/evr
I then tried this one:
https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/firmware/SM-G977B/VOD/download/G977BXXU2ASJ5/299590/
And the above install the 2x Vodafone uk apps automatically which is fine as I am on Vodafone uk but in software Info is still says vod/vod/evr
What my issue is now is I don’t seem to get 5g on this phone even though I’m on a a 5g contract and has worked previously on a note10+ 5g handset.
Is this handset 5g modem locked to ee?

OK, well I have always had to do that to change CSC via FW flash since the S9 range was released in 2018.
I am waiting for postman to deliver my S10 5G today so will try to flash BTU with OEM Unlock enabled, and let you know the outcome.
(If it doesn't work for me, i will do same as you and flash a network specific FW via Odin - H3G is my network provider).

Yes exactly. My product code is also SM-G977BZAAEVR, so its always going to be an EE UK handset
Hello,
I have the same phone (SM-G977B), I exchanged it with someone in Shanghai (without a box, stupid me)
It was rooted with some CHC firmware (which did not let me download any Google play services), I tried to root the phone (my first time) and ended up re-locking the bootloader.
Later on, while trying different things, I ended up deleting the firmware from TWRP (as I formatted the data, cache folders/directories) as it was not booting up (bootloop on Samsung logo).
Long story short (and rather sad and stupid):
I have a brick phone which has no SD card slot, No OS installed, I do not know the original CSC (except that it was bought in some country in Europe), other firmwares does not flash with Odin (gives me Repartition error failed error), I am unable to mount the device (thought I could transfer the firmware using MTP), I can not change TWRP (downgrade or upgrade) as disk won't mount (for some reasons). I have formatted the disk, changes its format to ext4, ext2 etc.
Any ideas?

Question S21 Ultra no Android 12 Update

Hi guys,
I know this was asked, but my case in kinda different.
I have UK version of the phone, BTU and CSC seems to be correct, as others that complained about updates not being pushed had CSC EUX.
Though phone is from UK, it was purchased in Malta as local network operator, not locked or branded to their network, as there is no FW for Malta, they simply get UK unlocked phones.
Any idea how to get updates?
Shall I flash latest FW with odin? Thanks...

Yes you need to flash it with Odin because EUX is a dead circuit.
Thanks. Will do it definitely.
But strange enough is that it's showing BTU not EUX, at least on screenshot.
How stupid is this thing that they kill your phone for updates... :/

I had that issue when i started my phone first time when u purchased it, i use no SIM and that caused the phone to capture EUX CSC instead of NEE (which is the SW for Nordic countries) .. I had to return the phone and i bought another one.
