[Q] Call problem - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Well, sometimes when somebody calls me or I call them I can't hear anything and they can't hear me, so need to reboot, after that all is well for some time...
Anyone has a fix for that, or know how do repair it without reboot??
Thanks

maybe a software is the cause? I remember when I was on HTC, there were times this happen to me - a hard reset solve the problem for me though.

Thanks, I'll try that... Since you are the only one that replied

thanks let me know if you found out something!

some people have reported problems with the noise cancellation. try turning that off.i think the option is available once the call is started. if so, you could try covering the top microphone hole.

I have this issue also. For me I most notice it when I am calling someone over bluetooth. All of the sudden it will just become silent. I hang up and call back with bluetooth turned off and everything is silent. I can tell that the other person answers the phone because of the screen but it's silent and they can't hear me. The only thing that will get my phone working again is a reboot.
I'm on rocketrom v20 btw.

Sound drops on other side of the line, help needed

Hi,
I have a problem with my Tytn II. When I'm calling with the phone to my ear (not even with the speaker on), the sound on the other side regularly drops to a very low level, and then goes up again. I however, keep hearing the person on the other side of the line without a problem.
This happens in some calls, not everytime. And if it occurs, it occurs on some moments, a few times in a row, and then it works fine afterwards.
It's my second Tytn II already, since I exchanged the first one, which had exactly the same problem. I already disabled 3G, but it didn't help...
1. Anybody who has the same problems? Any solutions?
2. Is this the fault of the device, or is it a network setting/problem?
3. Anything else you guys can suggest I try...?
Update: I got me another device again (third one already), this time a Dutch version (since 2 WWE versions had the problem).
I still have the same problem. On some calls, I cannot be heard from time to time on the other side of the line, which is really annoying.
Could this have something to do with the 3G/data connection problem mentioned in another post?
Thanks
Nobody can help me...?
There are more people who have this problem. I just called to HTC support to report the speaker-problem. During the call, the person could not hear me at certain moments. But I was not using the speaker! She included this in the ticket. They have no answer at the moment.
Come on people... Please post your experience here, so I can be sure if this device is faulty or not...
Did you try to change the "Settings > System > Microphone AGC" Settings?

I think so yes... but I'm asking here to see if it's only my device that has it, or other people are having it too...
Nope, i have similar issues too. I find that when people don't hear me if i use Mute/Unmute, the issue goes away (at least for that call). Like you, i cannot always reproduce it, it happens from time to time, but no specific rule of occurrence.

Just noticed your posting. Yes I have this problem too. Am on Orange UK. I thought it was just the people I was talking to who were being ignorant & not listening to me properly.
Also noticed that the phone often just turns itself onto silent or vibrate even though I always keep both volume settings at full. Bizarre!!
If these two issues persist then I will be calling Orange as I keep missing calls due to the volume issue & secondly as it's a phone people should be able to use it as such.
*come back my beloved HTC Universal - your size is forgiven*
Sound drop
Hey people,
I've noticed the same here, i found another post on the forum that has the answer.
It worked for me.
This is what you can do:
Go to properties and the choose phone, then go to tab Band.
Here you change type network tot gms instead of auto. This wil increase your signal strength!
I'm kicking this post, since I got me another device again (third one already), this time a Dutch version (since 2 WWE versions had the problem).

Just noticed this thread...
Same problems here, on an at&t Tilt.
My hope is that this is just a radio issue, and can be fixed in an update.
Finally I have found others with this problem! Thought I was going mad.
I sent my device back to htc and they replaced the board, but I am still having this issue. Sent it back to them today but now I dont hold out much hope of this being fixed now I see others have tried replacements. Very strange that only a few of us are getting it, even with different / devices new boards.
Are others not experiencing this at all or are they just putting up with it as it is a new device. Very annoying for personal use, but for business it is totally unusable.
Anyone have any ideas on what is causing this / how to resolve?
Thanks,
Steve
I now have the same problem after installing MS Voice command, I am wondering if everyone else in this post is using MS Voice command or is just a coincidence that the problem started after it was installed.
hmm
any fix for this then?

After Hang Up Twang

I've been meaning to ask this for months, but I keep forgetting. Today I scoured the site, but can't find anyone with the same problem. Either I'm going crazy or I hear a frequency that nobody else can (lol - "Unbreakable").
Basically, right after I hang up a call, my phone lets out a few audible "twangs." That's the only way I can describe it. WHAT IS IT? Some bizarre audio phenomenon like when cell phones get too close to computer speakers?
I know it's not just my phone - I went through 4 RMA Tilts thanks to RLoD issues, and they've all done it.
Either I'm going crazy (or becoming a superhero) or I'm an idiot and this is by design and I'm missing something obvious.
It just means the call was disconnected. It's useful if your call gets dropped, so you don't keep saying "Hello? Hello?" The phone will twang so you know the other person has hung up or otherwise got disconnected.
Yep I find it annoying too. One beep to let me know I've hung up the phone is fine, but the ding ding ding thing is annoying. Sounds like my phone is going to explode.

Thank you. So it turns out:
1) I'm a first-class goob.
2) It still annoys me.
3) It must not work all the time, because when I have calls dropped, sometimes I do find myself saying "hello" for a time. (Or maybe I've just blocked the sound out entirely.)
4) Now that you mention it, sometimes I DO appreciate it that it lets me know I've been disconnected, sometimes. But why does it do it when I just manually hang up? I certainly don't need to know the call's been dropped THEN.
5) MY BOTTOM LINE (eg - my excuse for being a goob): The sound doesn't sound like an on-purpose thing. It sounds random, like a mistake or a glitch. Hence my confusion.

Thank you for justifying my #5, and thank you for trying to make me feel better about being a goob.
Now let's just let this thread fade into the nether-regions of the forum...

PROBLEM : Call drops after first ring?

Hi,
I'm having trouble with my Diamond. When a private number calls, it gets dropped after the first ring, before I get a change to get then phone even out of my pocket?
Its really frustrating... and its starting to do it on number, unbarred numbers?
Has anybody seen anything like this before? It doesn't happen all the time, but its getting pretty consistent!
I'm running SwiftBL 5.6 and Radio 100.05.25
Please help!

yes, I'm experiencing the same thing too and I'm using the official 1.93 rom.
as far as I know, it doesn't only affect private call and the problem is very random.
What I notice is the phone will keep ringing until you press any button or the touchscreen to answer or mute the call and that's the time the phone will drop the call....hoping to find solution too....
I had the same problem with the HTC 1.93 ROM. Changing radios made no difference. Switched to Swift v5.6 and all is OK. BTW am in UK on Orange.
even with 1.37 rom, i'm also having the problem....wonder does anyone know what's the problem and solution....
I had this problem after I've tried to sort out the 3 sec delay problem... After a Hard Reset and not playing with the 3 sec delay problem everything is fine....

hmm....I didn't mess with that delay at all but still the problem is there...
Lay your phone on the table and try again.
Most comes with the problem in your pocket.
As soon as the phone rings the touchscreen is enabled and it drops the call because it thinks you pressed ignore.
This problem can be solved by s2u2.
I had the same problem and solved it with this program.
It blockes your touchscreen unless you slide it from left to right completely.
Grtzzzz
Yeah, thats exactly it I think... because its always in my pocket, but I have the HTC case, which by the time I've either take it out of my pocket or out of the case, the call has gone!
Does anybody have a link for that app s2u2.
I will try this... because I tried changing the ringer settings and all sorts, and nothing helped! All the iPhone and N95 guys are slagging me at work! Apart from that its by far the best phone in the office
Cheers for the help!
Will report back if I find that and app if it works!

definitely not due to that problem. Numerous time, my phone was not in my pocket but on the desk already. A couple of time when the phone ring, I pick it up and press the answer button(touchscreen and hardware button) but it just drop the call....haizzzz

I am getting this problem too... anybody have a solution? Whenever a private number comes in, when i click on the answer tab, the call will just disconnect... this is very fustrating...
I also get this issue, always with a private number and sometimes with a stored number. At first I thought it was becuase I was touching the screen when I first took the phone out of my pocket but like someone else said this also happens when its on a table.
Any help would be really appreciated!!

Handset microphone not working

YES I've searched for this problem, IDK if I didn't use the correct keywords. Didn't find what I needed.
Anyways, day before yesterday people have said they couldn't hear me on their end talking to me. I ONLY use the handset- the actual phone, no headset Weird. I haven't made any new settings changes. No water has contacted my phone. Hmm...
Well today, NOTHING can be heard. I mean NOTHING. So I decided to try the notes thing and use the recorder and it just does the buzzing noise. Is my phone slowly dying? First the screen blacks out when the keyboard slides out, now this? Fun.
Would anyone know what could cause this or how to fix it? IDK when I'd be able to get to the only place that can fix my poor sick X1i . I know it's not the ppl on the other end b/c its more than one person, etc. And I did ANOTHER hard reset. Still acting up.
I have to retreat back to using my ATT Quickfire for now until I get my phone fixed. Shame, spend 600$+ on a phone and it doesn't work.
I have the same problem. My X1 has been fallen a few times and I don't know if that is the reason for this problem?
Same here
My microphone doesn't work and the screen goes crazy when I open the keyboard. I think I will try to disassemble the phone and see if there is something disconnected.
thats weird, i have the same problem... well it started two weeks back when people started complaining that my voice was too soft when talking on the phone. and just this morning i "slided" the keyboard out and suddenly the screen goes blank.
im goin to try downgrading to R2 rom. im using the latest from SE atm.

Lost Sound

So earlier today my sound out of my speakers seized to exist. well you can still hear the slightest of sound if you place the speaker right up to your ear. The Volume is all the way up. I did receive a call from an unknown number and listened to the voice mail, it was a very odd spam call. I believe this is when it stopped working cause i remember hearing my phone go off then and not after. Ive tried rebooting and nothing. Looks like the spam call got to my phone somehow through voice mail. Any suggestions?
Well i guess i posted this just a few minuets to early... i pulled my battery and rebooted and that seemed to fix it. Not sure what happened, didn't make sense to get hit with something through voice mail does not seem possible. Phones been screwy lately. Sorry to waste a post.
well looks like i didn't waste my time posting cause after i thought i fixed it i lost sound again. I went into sound settings to test it a little after i rebooted to see if it still worked and thats when i lost the sound. So there's definently something wrong somewhere.

This is a known issue with the captivate. Take off the battery cover and press on the speaker with a good amount of pressure.

Yea i read up on this method was afraid to try it cause people said it wasn't a good idea cause they broke it rather then fixed it. But since this seems to be the only solution i've read about i guess its worth a shot. Do i have to do this every time it feels like not working cause its really frustrating when i cant hear my alarm in the morning.
