I agree in look and screen X8 is better than Galaxy Y. Camera is not better in X8. Being a X8 user I will suggest Galaxy Y

I have X8 and my friend bought Galaxy Y few days ago and can say that Galaxy is faster than X8.I mean games don't stuck and everything is smooth maybe beacuse my X8 is on GingerXperia v22 and stock kernel

My friend Bought Y month ago
it's very good but
its screen is really suck
and u could easily say that it has no camera><

i prefer x8 ..
galaxy y = stock gingerbread . 830Mhz arm6 . 2mp camera . qvga video recording . 240 x 320 screen resolution . bluetooth 3.0
xperia x8 = stock eclair . 600 mhz arm6 . 3.15 mp . vga video recording . 320 x 480 screen resolution . bluetooth 2.1
(sources : gsmarena)

If I were you, I would choose X8

Y's screen's sucks
Sent from my X8 using Tapatalk

well x8 has an awesome community which Y fail to have ...

Joking, man? Maybe Y is a lil' bit faster as stock but how can anyone not puke when seeing Y's screen? And I think the X8 can be faster with Kuyadroid+Alfs v6+ [email protected] Mhz.

And if you buy x8 check the number behind the battery if it's 11w29++ don't unlock bootloader it will kill your phone

X8
- 600Mhz. CPU
- 200Mhz. GPU Adreno
- 16M HVGA screen
- 320x480
- VGA recording
Galaxy Y
- 800Mhz. CPU
- Higher RAM
As I can see X8 has the advantage with the GPU... I have galaxy Y and yes it is really responsive compared to stock X8 since galaxy Y has higher RAM but the loss of GPU and lower screen resolution makes it lesser on X8

as i said
i like x8 best^^

x8 s the bst for me..
no gpu means no hd games..
so i prefer x8

i also Prefer to Xperia X8 is awesome , can added Bravia Engine, Awesome xD.

and there are GDX+alf
thnx all x8 devs

For What do you want to use it

You can install the multitoucch module
Scratch-resistant glass
microSD, up to 16GB, 2GB included
128 MB storage, 168 MB RAM
Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g
Camera 3.15 MP, 2048x1536 pixels [email protected]

GPU Adreno 200
Galaxy Y:

original multitouch
microSD, up to 32GB
180 MB storage, 290 MB user available RAM
Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Hotspot functionality
Bluetooth 3.0
2 MP, 1600x1200 pixels
Camera [email protected]
830 MHz ARMv6
GPU Andreno 200
I have an X8 but i think i will buy a Galaxy Y because the better performance.

Better performance??? Galaxy Y have just 2MP camera?
I like camera more then performance!

tell you what. you'll get performance - i can't argue with that - but there's 3 things you'll lose:
1. screen resolution
2. awesome dev support
3. an X8
the choice is up to you.

you could sell your X8 and take a hTC Desire C or xperia mini/ray/live with walkman.
:cyclops: :good:

[Q] DEFY+ or SGS ???

heyy people can u point out wich one to choose from SGS or DEFY+ ?
all i know is both having 1ghz cpu...but want to know which one is better for gaming with option of future updates...
thanx alot people
Defy has 800 MHz as standard and this is the sgs forum so i'm sure most people will vote for the sgs Read up reviews and watch reviews on youtube for the most help. Type defy vs sgs on youtube and you might find some good reviews.

Hello asn39!
First of all i want to classify the advantages of SGS over MOTOdefy+
-->1Ghz Hummingbird & 1GHz bump from TI-OMAP-3610 to 3620!
1) The point here is the Hummingbird has a GPU PowerVRSGX 540 that is superior over PowerVR SGX 530.
2) You have an overclock of 1.7 GHz paired wih a 40MHz increase in GPU.
3) It beats the MSM8255 in terms of FPS...
-->SUPER AMOLED screen!
--> No of ROM[20+Mod]'s and Kernel[8Mods] packs availability for SGS i9K.
-->Enchanced Sound from SGS coz of Voodoo v10 FIX'es.
-->Hack's and Mod's for SGS are under development.
now you have to decide whether to take SGS or Moto!

Totally agreed SGS has best gaming experince and high video quality with smooth and soft touch....and too fast
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
The SGS is highly individual and one of the flattest phones. Furthermore it's very light and well to handle. One big advantage is the stability - if it is having contact with the floor, it won't give up being a gentle friend ;-)
Get it, love it
SGS for sure

[Q] Optimus Black vs Samsung galaxy S1 I9000

I have the possibility to exchange the Optimus black with Galaxy S i9000. What do you think, should I make the deal?
hhmmm....let me seee....
OB...............................................SGS
5MP + Flash.................................Just 5MP without flash
430 MB of RAM.............................380MB of RAM
SGX 530 GPU...............................SGX 540 GPU
Official ICS....................................No Official ICS
inly FEW active development..........Strong develoment and community
total score : 3 total score : 2
i know there is other factor to choose one of them....but actually, I like OB, camera and flash is my main priority(I have galaxy ace before OB, and I buy OB because of 720p videos), and plain offocial ICS with my own tweaks is enough for me.....
but ultra stable CM 9 & 10 and SGX 540 sound very appelaing to me....but 380MB RAM???? come on??!!!......actually, I am as confuse as you......
I'm considering the exchange because 3d games(GTA,Asphalt 7 etc) on OB don't work to smooth.I guess on Galaxy S I won't have problems ,because of the better gpu sgx540.
Lol... Samsung Galaxy S1 is a piece of sh*t.. I remember that I sent an app to my friend and his phone locked .. he had to remove the battery.. on my OB this never happened.
And OB has flash, S1 doesnt` have.
I just say NO .

the RAM, will not enough to play most HD games, just like OB

Another hope for JB/CM10 for Jena

Hi there,
With recent announcement of Galaxy Young DS it's (maybe) possible for us to get JB/CM10 for our Jena since the phone likely would be same with our Jena (spec wise, it's dual sim, processor upgraded to 1 Ghz and RAM to 768 MB)
here the comparison:
http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=5280&idPhone2=3883
or atleast if this device real cheap, we could buy this to replace our Jena

The benchmark logs also talk about Samsung Galaxy Young, codenamed GT-S6310/GT-S6312, which boasts a 1 GHz Qualcomm 7×27 GPU, Adreno 200 GPU and HVGA display with a resolution 480 x 320 pixels. Even though it was initially tested on Android 4.0.4, the smartphone will hit the market with Jelly Bean.

I tried both. The 920 is good but the system (Windows Mobile) it's running on is a complete disaster (Lack of apps, ugly UI, etc). It's build and design is also nothing less than pathetic in comparison to the Z. You won't notice a big difference in the pixel density unless you put your eyes very close to the display but I would still side with the Z because if a dead pixel arises, it will much harder to notice it on the Z, since its display is much more densely packed with them. The processor is also superior on the Z but what the 920 has, will suffice for most tasks aside from the newest and latest games (Once again, the Z wins here because it's more future-proof).
On a side notice, could you try to write nicer next time, the use of shorthand is annoying.

quad and dual are very noticible.. quad can fast proccesing in apps, ofcors its quad, ull notice that on dual core. u might take catching up sometime when opening an app.. (windows phone for me not that useable by my daily basis).. im using ZL same specs in Z.. i dont have any problems with it.. my suggestion is use Z.. battery life so far not an issue anyways.. its on how you use ur phone..

Yes,as my friend using wp8 i used it for a few minutes,my observation is the the os is light, very minimal use of processing,i agree aswell, but for having quad im sure it helps fast speed, ofcors by the help of ram to take effect.. Quad integrates on multi tasking and as what i say,ram is there to help.. And it boils to what you comfortably using.. Lets keep this thread very useful. On some other threads comparing etc. Is been lockdown..

that this is : If iam not a gamer or care alot about heavy 3d games....Lumia 920 would match me more, right?
I mean camera...speakers....even display (bravia engine is only on in photos and vids while HD+ and pure motion r always on)
oh btw....after the buttons bar (the grey one) how large the screen is?4.8 inchs or what?
Thanks in advance

First of all let's compare both phones in spec.
You can check it here for more info: http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=4967&idPhone2=5204
But the most important features.
Screen:
Lumia 920: HD 1280x768 4.5" 332 ppi
Xperia Z: FULL HD 1920x0180 5" 441 ppi
There is quite a difference between full hd and hd also the ppi are much higher in the XZ, so the pictures/full hd videos will look much crisp on the XZ.
Weight
L920: 185 g (6.53 oz)
XZ: 146 g (5.15 oz)
The L920 is heavy, 40g more than the XZ. You will notice that
Memory / Storage
L920: 1Gb RAM / 32GB No sd-card slot
XZ: 2Gb Ram / 16GB Sd card slot
Ram depends on the OS and the usage. Storage is bigger on the L920 by default but no option to increase the storage.
Bluetooth
L920: 3.2
XZ: 4.0
If you use bluetooth a lot the 4.0 protocol is much reliable.
Camera:
L920: 8 MP, 3264 x 2448 pixels, Carl Zeiss optics, optical image stabilization, autofocus, dual-LED flash
XZ: 13.1 MP, 4128x3096 pixels, autofocus, LED flash
If I'm not wrong, L920 camera is much better in low light condition and in general terms.
OS
L920: Microsoft Windows Phone 8
XZ: Android OS, v4.1.2
Android has much more apps than WP8 in the market, the customization of android is endless (you can access file system, modify the whole rom, kernel) rather than in the wp8 is much more limited.
CPU / GPU
L920: Dual-core 1.5 GHz Krait / Adreno 225
XZ: Quad-core 1.5 GHz Krait /Adreno 320
Depends on OS and usage. Quad-core much faster than Dual-core.
Radio
L920 No
XZ: Stereo FM radio with RDS
If you need Radio FM, it's a no brainer. XZ has it, L920 doesn't. Obviously there is always Internet Radio that works using data mobile.
Battery:
L920: 2000mAh
XZ: 2330mAh
Price (SIM free):
L920: £399 Carphone Warehouse
XZ: £489 Carphone Warehouse
L920 is cheaper
Around the same battery life.
Right, now. Ask yourself this questions.
What are you going to use the phone for?
What is your budget?
Do you use app intensive taks? Playing heavy CPU/GPU intensive games?
Do you find useful the Water/Dust resistance on the XZ, (ie it's protected from rain, failing into water by accident)?

First of all, let me thank u 4 ur effort
secondly:about screen being Crisp or so...i heard that naked eye cant differentiate between both as if its higher than 300 PPI its almost the same
Iam not keen on gaming or so i will buy it mainly for reading e-books,taking pics and watching vids(not that much even)
About Water resistant....iam from a dry country...No rains for 3-4 years actually so it doesnt matter 4 me

About the softkeys, theres a mod resizing that to 25 and black and depending what size u want. 48dpi is stock softkeys.. Lot of devlopers on z.

Take into account that appart from the DPI, one is HD (720p) and the other is Full-HD (1080p), there is a difference between them. You will notice it while browsing a website and zooming to read, it will be much sharp in the XZ.
If you are going to read e-book you will find it more easier in a bigger screen, 5" vs 4.5" is quite a difference in screen size.
At the end of the day is a matter of preference, Android vs WP8. Right now I think Android is a better OS in terms of app and support. Also XZ has the technological advantage compared to the L920. For the price of both I would go for the XZ, personally. As someone said before, XZ is more future-proof, a Dual core and 720p is getting obsolete and 1gb ram is quite low imho. If you are not convinced with the XZ, there are other options: Samsung, HTC, LG.
The best thing to do is go to a shop and hold both at the same time, try most of the features and go for the one your guts tells you.
If I helped you, you could press the thanks button

After settling for 5 inch phone, I would never go for anything below it. I have seen the Optimus g is person . It's quite nice. If I'm not wrong the specs of Optimus g and xperia z is almost the same s4 pro quad core with 2 gb ram. Except it's not full hd like the xz and at a lower ppi 318 vs xz's 441. And no ip55/57 rating. The screen looks nice but I haven't tried reading on it. I just watch a video playback.

I had them both in my hand , my friend's LG and a co-worker had the Xperia... Personally I ordered the Xperia Z and waiting for it. It's much more solid built and I believe strongly in Sony , not to be the fanboy but ask around and everyone will tell you that LG will never be competion to Sony unless you want to spend less !!!

I've heard that there's a rumor that it'll get kitkat update from Samsung though

If you want to use stock and phone with ****y screen phone. SY is better. If you like custom roms and legendary phone. X8 is better. My friend have SY. And I said to him x8 is much better even x8 is older than SY

I agree x8 is best because it's Sony.

lcd: X8's lcd is a little smaller (around 0.2 inches) but it has higher resolution and ppi so pictures are sharp and clear .... about lcd viewing angel just hold the devices and youll understand young is terrible at lcd tests( you can see pic clear only from the front),but x8 is absolutly brilliant at lcd quality. (& viewing angels )
Cpu : x8 comes with a 600mhz armv6vfp processor but young offers 200mhz more clock speed : 800 mhz ,both have the armv6 architecure and are dispointing for gaming and browsing , video playback
Gpu : x8 comes with Adreo 200 gpu but as i remember young doesnt have any graphic proccessing unit
Ram: x8 does have 180 mb of RAM but i think young has 280 mb , so its easier to run heavy games and apps on it (much depends to kernel and rom)
X8 : better lcd , gpu , non-stopable Developers!
Y : better cpu ,bigger lcd ,280 mb of ram
Overall : x8 would be a great phone if it had at least 260 mb of RAM but it doesnt so to be honest all the owners of these two should think about a new device and put these devices in the musium
