[Q] Default notification sound changing to music track after reboot. - HTC Incredible S

Hi there, anyone having this problem on stock 2.3.5?
Everytime I restart the phone the default notification sound changes to one of two tracks on my sd card. It's frustrating having to change them back each time. Been thinking of a full reset but don't want the hassle of reinstalling all my apps again only to find its a "feature" of the rom.
Thanks,
Gaz

my sis is having the same problem. unrooted and unhacked. everytime a reboot is done, alarm tones ringtones and notification tones change. a factory reset was done but it did not help. so thats not a fix.

my cm7 7.1can not vibrate always

Lost files during rom install

Alright I recently rooted and did a p3 kernel and a cyanogen rom. After a little trial and error and 8 million unneeded backups all is flying nicely. My only problem the stock ringtone of "droid" is gone, not in any list anywhere. I actually used said ringtone for txts so the problem is if I go into settings/sound when I select notifications settings crashes every time. Now since all my apps that use notification sounds are customizable they all work just fine. Problem is I want my damn droid sound back. All the ones I can get from ringtone apps aren't quiet as clean/clear or the have dead air time before or after. Now I used titanium backup before and after to no avail. Anyone got any ideas? Thanks for the help.

*bump* okay still unaware WHY said file disappeared but I've since fixed the crashing problem. Anyone care to send me the stock droid.ogg file? I would be greatly appreciative.

Wallpapers and notification sounds keep changing

hey guys, so my brothers got a droid 3, and since he lives in wyoming and i'm in NJ, i can't diagnose it in person...
but he keeps having his background wallpapers changing by themselves all the time. he's using stock backgrounds, not SD card images, and they always just randomly change. he said it'll change between two gray type ones over and over. pretty anoying.
he also says his ringtones keep changing by themselves and constantly changes his ringer, notification sounds, and now his email notification makes a sound even though he had that off.
anyone have any idea whats wrong? it's stock phone, no root or anything...thanks!!
It's probably an app.
Ive had the ring tone issue before but never the wallpaper one. To fix the ringtone issue i just factory reset and reinstalled my apps via titanium backup. Hasnt reoccured since.
The ringtones: Thats because everytime you mount your usb cable and access the sdcard the link to the ringtones and notification tones gets lost. Putting these as a root user in system/media prevents them from getting lost.
try it.
what app would possibly change wallpapers? lol

[Q] how to set the ringtone on cm9 rom?

I have just flashed a cm9 rom last night
thanks somone help me to deal with the problem with external sd card
I have a second problem
that is
how to set the ringtone, there is no option or menu bar for me to set the ringtone except the default songs ...
when I start the song, I cannot find any opinion to set the ringtone
can anyone help ?
search the melody that u want than long press on it...it will appear a menu and select set as ringtone
Search it with what? A file explorer? I use Root Explorer and it doesn't have that ability, at least I haven't found it. I also need to set a custom notification as well.
Save SD.kartu MP3 ringtones folder, then choose MP3 as the default. Other applications from Google also play, Zedge,, there you have it and get on the phone directly to the menu nastavení.Stačí sounds, ringtones and set up.
sry my bad english.

A problem I've run into with both cm9 and cm10 is that it ignores my choice of ring tone. I can select them, but almost randomly it will just ignore the fact I've chosen it. Nor will it default back to cyan tone but this obscure quiet beep. Which is a bit annoying as it is almost as if my phone turned on silent.
Had to avoid almost all CM based roms. Hope there is a solution, Cyangenmod has come along beautifully.

How did you set ringtone? Through system menu? Maybe use your media player to set it and try if problem still exists.

I have a different problem. I set ringtone, it prompt me "Andriod System or ES Explorer". I pick ES Explorer as default to select the ringtone in one of the folder. Now every time I want to change a ringtone or notification it goes to ES Explorer. How to go revert to stock?
Go to your stock music player.
Long press and select the song.
A menu appears and select it as your ringtone.

Phone crashes when going into sound

Hi,
I love my HTC One. However, recently my phone starts crashing whenever I try to select a ringtone. If i go to Settings -> Sound -> Ringtone, i get the standard "Sound set has stopped unexpectedly". Same when I try to change the tone on WhatsApp.
Phone is rooted with stock rom.
Help!
Zoheb
Same happened to me, a simple reboot solved the problem.
Go to manage apps and clear data for the Sound set app.

Unable to use mp3 as ringtone or notification

I haven't changed the ringtone for my calls or notifications since the T-Mobile update to Android 10. Earlier this week I went to change my default notification & kept getting the error "wrong file type, please choose again". It did this for every mp3 sound I selected & they all worked prior so I know there isn't anything wrong with the file. I then tried the same with the default ringtone & got the same error. I can play the mp3 with no issues through an mp3 player app. The only sound format that appears to be working for notifications & ringtones is if I use a wave file. Has anyone else seen this occurring on their phone?
You can try clearing the cache of the phone. There are apps that can do that. Aside from that.... backup your data, calls, and everything in Samsung Cloud. And reset phone. Then see if it still does it. If after a reset it still does it I would reflash it with the newest stock ROM.

I had this exact same issue. I had to strip all of the tags from the mp3 files and put them in the 'notifications' or 'ringtones' folders. Once I did that, they appeared in the built-in media picker and also worked when using esExplorer to set the ringtone or notification.
