Hi, where i must drop the file? PDA? Phone? or CSC? in odin.
Thanks for advance

Therese s another possibilty To flash your device.
Your can get yourself mobile odin in the market.
Then u only need to move the flashable files to your sd card andere thats IT.
So u only have to Start mobile odin, and go further on without using a pc to flash your device.

cause cyanogenmod is the best ROM out there?
it's built from source, generic to over 90 devices, and has by far the best community behind it?

CM9 = Fully Open Source developed and supported by a large community who care mostly about the end user experience.
Manufacturer ROM = Partly closed source developed by a company who care mostly about the volume of devices they ship.
It's not if but when.
Oh and by the way I don't know what all the fuss is about space travel.

Hello everybody!
Can I trouble someone upload or point me to where I can download the latest ClockworkMod Recovery update.zip file for the Samsung Captivate?

what is the safe method of flashing a rom? Installing CWM from update.zip of flashing a rom using CWM flashed through ODIN?

Oh boy, you have opened a never ending discussion now!
After you have done flashing for a while, the answer will be "whatever way you like best." For a very first timer, I would suggest the AIO tool at
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=944418
Personally, I am generally upgrading within a single ROM and I like to move it onto the sdcard and use CWM red recovery (3-button entry or from 'boot to recovery' in power-down menu now on my phone) and flash ROM from that, using the 'install zip from sdcard' option, or however it is worded.
Still looking for an answer to
"Is there any site or thread that has all/most CWMs in update.zip form, shows their versions, and describes them?"

The ROM manager and the CWM coming with it, 2.5.x doesn't work on stock Froyo.
Hey guys,
I was wondering if anyone with the latest version of CWM (I believe it's a 3.0 version) wouldn't mind posting their update.zip?
ROM Manager doesn't work properly for me. Plus, I don't like using it. At all.
Thanks!

I was hoping this would work for me. Unfortunately it didn't. I am running 2.2 on my Captivate. I need to root it...does anyone know where to find an updated update file for 2.2?
When i had 2.2 froyo I just flashed DG's odin file to revert back to a rooted stock froyo. This worked for me I would upload the file but I no longer have it. sorry
You can use the one click root and if clockwork mod is not working on your stock 2.2 just use odin to flash the speed mod kernel it comes with clockwork and root access so you can use room manager etc.

And heres the moment you have all been waiting for CM7 for the Galaxy Ace
I do not own this phone once so ever so if it does not boot I will try to help as much as possible.
No way is this a final product I can tell you from coding that FM Radio does not work and graphics might be kinda funny. Sounds should work and sensors might not work. Please report on here.

Warning attempting to install this ROM on the previously provided recovery will probably cause you to have to use ODIN.
This ROM is an attempt at using the bml over mtd system used by the galaxy s line of phones on Cyanogenmod
BTW using stock kernel anyone created a custom kernel they want to include?

So, I'm new to Galaxy S. Need Help :)

Hi guys,
I own a Galaxy S i9000 mobile.
It's running on :
Android 2.3.3
Baseband : DXJV9
I have not rooted it or did anything till now.
I wanna flash ICS AOKP on my mobile..
I have tried using the search option but still im soo deserted.
Can you guys guide me on how to root, flash CWM recovery, and flash ICS please ?
and Does Galaxy S supports ROM Manager ? coz i've been using Galaxy Ace before and it didn't support it..
Thanks a lot
For Root read this.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788108
You need to download file ending in JVP. Usually you want the one ending with last 3 digits of your baseband but as there is no JV9 JVP is close enough and is reported as working. Besides it does not really matter as you just need this for root.
Once you have root you can simply follow the guide in the AOKP thread...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1524108
I know you have stated you want AOKP but if you want a bullet proof simple way to get this all done start with this thread for Team ICSSGS.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1494493
I usually like to make sure I have all necessary files, roms & programmes before starting so if anything goes wrong I can get my phone working again. This tutorial will help you with that also.
After following all of this you should have a good understanding of what to do and then you can flash AOKP as their instructions are kind of limited.
Also when choosing an ICS Rom this is a great thread with regards to performance.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1554621
AOKP is a wonderful choice.
But if I can give you an advice, wait for the next Milestone which is expected to be released over the next few days

and finally, Which version of the kernel should i use for official AOKP b34? 1.1.0 or 1.1.0s?
Not sure but both should work. 1.0.1s is for slim ics and other roms. If it is not compatible it will break 720 video recording & playback otherwise eveything else should work. There is also a video patch somewhere.

Alright..I've flashed AOKP b34 and Semaphore 1.1.0s
Everything seems to be fine
But now my sdcard is mounted as internal storage and the actual internal storage is mounted as sdcard..is this a bug or what ?
Even when I connect my phone to my PC using USB,only the actual internal storage (which is mounted as SDcard shows up..
I personally haven't 1.1.0 only 1.0.1sbm with slim ics. I think the 1.1.0 is still a test version for cm9 but could be wrong. Things may have updated since i last looked but i recommend reading the semaphore thread and posting there for more help.

Known bug in Semaphore. Make sure you enable the 'Netfilter' module in the app. When it randomly doesn't work, which is the bug, simply check and uncheck it 2 times and it will work.

[Q] Going from non rooted 2.3.6 Lc1 Nordic countries to official ics

Greetings!
In my restless and dull life I've decided to play with fire and try to flash official ICS onto my Galaxy Note. Now I'm more or less a complete noob at this. I've been lurking and reading threads here for months. But I haven't tried anything out yet.
I found Dr.Ketans guide for mobile odin.
( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=25916135&postcount=1840 ) . But I am not rooted, and I don't have any interest in root at the moment. My main question is this:
I downloaded the rom in that post. and extracted it to a tar.md5 file. Does this include a kernel? Or do I have to download the CF kernel or the stock kernel from some other source and flash that as well?
Yes, I already know about the hard brick issue. If that happens, at least you will have another proof that the bug exists

Yeah the tar.md5 file includes the kernel. CF kernel is for getting root and CWM recovery.
Take the plunge mate. But i would rather suggest you to go for CM9 as thats the best and safest ICS experience. Because Samsuck has done nothing wonderous in the official ICS!! Rest your choice mate!!
P.S - since you are not rooted so you cant use mobile odin and hence you are left with PC odin.
Cheers!

Thanks alot for the swift reply! I'll certainly check into CM9 before flashing. Just to make it 100% certain though. I place the tar.md5 file in pda while using Pc Odin and keep kernel and csc empty and flash counter won't be increased?

Pls help,Can't get into any recovery at all

Hi everyone
I have just gotten a Samsung galaxy mini. I rooted it and unlocked it okay.
But then I wanted to flash rom and stuff, so I downloaded Odin, and flashed cwm, but... When Odin says pass, it press home + power and the Samsung screen flashed twice and sticks.
But the strangest thing is that it can still boot into android sometimes.
I am on android 2.2.1
iBook anybody can help as it is worrying me a lot
before flashing rom or CWM you will need to upgrade to gingerbread either through odin or Kies
and then flash cwm and after that flash rom with cwm
Thanks for the reply
I can't seem to upgrade via kies, can you provide a link that contains stock Roms for my samsung that can be upgraded via Odin.
Is there any chance of bricking at all?
Do you need any other info?
Thanks

Would be quite grateful if someone would post a link to a recovery and method that i could follow
many thanks

Yes, originaly there was Froyo. After flashing to GB, CWM started to work. Before there was only black screen when I pressed HOME+POWER

Can somebody give me an idea on how to root my phone, again, as i would like to put cyanogen mod 7 onto it
thanks
(sorry if im being annoying)
just flash any custom rom now, you don't need root for that and most of custom roms are pre-rooted

Yes, there's maybe 2 ROMs that are not rooted, and they're pretty much outdated

That's good news then, I have gotten cm7 on my mini perfectly now.
