Official GB released in the Philippines (as of yesterday Jan 31, 2012) - LG Optimus Black

Just wanna inform you guys that gingerbread upgrade in the Philippines has arrived.
I upgraded accidentally when I was playing with the software update tool
Version 2.3.4
Kernel : 2.6.35
Build number: GRJ22
Software version: LG-P970-V20b

Kumusta Kabayan!
I'm tempted to flash this Official Update. The advantage is to relive myself from endless forum checks for custom ROM updates not to mention the Nightly CM MOD. Unless somebody can point me a convincing advantage of having my P970 rooted, i will have to push through with this official update.
I know Rooting allows us to get rid of Bloatwares.. well, that sounds convincing. What else? What are the important softwares that can't run unless rooted?

Sir tantrums,
What has changed after the software update?
Please post some photos of the newly updated phone.
Thanks a lot.

when 2.3.4 published for OB in IRAN?
hi
please any body tell me when 2.3.4 published for OB in IRAN?

My primary reason in rooting ia also to get rid of bloatwares. Also to try other Roms.

Hi all(and kabayans )! Can anybody kindly direct me to the location of a V20C for LG-P970. I still have a V10C and I think only V20C would work for my unit...I think

All versions will work for you, but some only have some translations in it. There is no v20c as far as I know. In your case I would either go here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1480392 And grab the rooted Version, or already root your phone and install Zeus ROM, should also include your translation.

thanx for the info, bro. i'll check it out...

Mga kabayan!, can we post the official GB firmware for Philippines? and play with it.

Mga kabayan! can you suggest the best rom to be used in the philippines? Marvel or zeus?

Zeus is best but it has stability problems since Huexxx started tweaking the kernel after version 3. I stayed with version 3 and no problem so far. There's also a Marvel ROM by our kabayan. It just removed bloatwares and not deeply tweaked so probably lesser bugs.

[ROM] 25 Mar: NVflash stock ROM release: v10b dated 1300166062 (15/03/2011)

I'm please to make the latest (*at time of writing) LG 2X ROM release available for your use in NVFlash format. This is doubly useful as it provides us with a great 'disaster recovery' solution for when we're playing with new ROMs, recoveries etc.
Please note that you use this at your own risk!
NVFlash is for use on Windows PCs.
Excellent details on how to set up NVFlash are available in this topic (thanks jmcnz), but in a nutshell the process is:
Download the ROM file below
Download the driver file below
Turn device off, remove battery, plug device in while holding volume up and down - screen will stay black but Windows will add a new 'APX' devices
Install drivers extracted from driver file download
Run 'flash.bat' from ROM file download
Wait for flash to complete and device to reboot
The all important files...
NvFlash ROM v10b / 1300166062 (15/03/2011) - DOWNLOAD (ROMraid Load Balancing) - MD5: b17cb7fd3542b5d02baf49879a83acff
NvFlash drivers - DOWNLOAD (ROMraid Load Balancing) - MD5: 2eab4f16fe1337a209a550ccd0be69c2

Amazing work Poul, cant wait to do this update..thumbs up and keep up the good work
Thank you for your hard work, Paul!
Btw, is there a changelog between the V10a, V10b and V10c versions?
No changelog unfortunately!
P
Thanks for your work on this!
I'm pretty new at this but this means when we brick the phone we can put back the orginal rom from LG to fix any problems that may occur?
I currently have version 10a on my LG (bought it on 7th of march) so the 10c would be a newer version or am i seeing this the wrong way?

Dont think so, this is a vanilla version of the orginal ROM which was shipped on the Optimus mode. We'll have to wait a bit longer for the CWM

Check the date in the build.prop to be sure.

First of all, great work paulobrien!
Question is.. what's new in this release if you have 10a, is there a point in doing an update?
I'm guessing it'll wipe everything if I update through NVflash? In that case i'll wait for CWM and some other goodies first.
I thought the different versions indicated which area they where fore.
V10A for scandinavia etc.
V10C for other european contries and so on.
Dunno if that is the right categorisation, but just an example. Will try and find link

thats samsung's new update policy for u
The ROMs between SGS2 and SGS+ are totally different. The numbers can be the same, but it doesn't matter. You can check other Samsung's stock ROMs just to notice they are all quite similar.
Do not in any case try to flash ROM from different phone.
Thanks. Is there a 2.3.5 firmware available for mine?

Some potential bug fixes, like camera or so on. Battery life and performance seems a bit better. There's also 2.3.6 (ZSKP6) But includes only few asian languages and English UK and US

Need some help here u guys....
I dont want to open up a new thread for this so i guess it'll fit right in here...
I downloaded ROM Toolbox recently which btw ****ED UP my phone, sonetimes the phone gets stuck now and many apps (also some I've already installed before) cant be downloaded via marked cuz now they are marked as not compatible with my device...
so before i play arround like crazy theres one question :
Is there a ROM out there which is like an enhanced version of the stock rom ? Many roms dont look very good (talking about the appearance), and an enchanced version of the stock rom without all the sync bs of google and stuff would be very cool....
this rom toolbox is such a crappy tool for sgs+....
i really need some help here this phone is starting to piss me off and i only rooted it and never flashed a new rom to the sgs+ (to no other phone neither)..
Can u guys give me some advices here plz ?

EDIT:Oops sorry wrong thread
Yesterday I rooted and flashed the "Install Android 4.0.1 ICS Custom ROM on Samsung Galaxy S2" to my
GT I001SGS plus and I am success full.
The only difference in adoption was I copied the 4.0.1 ICS Custom ROM to my external sd card and used the recovery mode
now my S plus is
Model GT-I9001
Firmwire version : 2.3.5
Baseband version: I9001XXKPF
Kernal version: 2.6.35.7-perf
[email protected] #1
Build Number: GINGERBREAD, XXKPG
I followed the article of XDADevelopers. This was guest article by Rajan Balana, he is a Blogger as well as student. He loves to explore smartphones, tablets and Android. He does the gadget reviews at Dreambloggers.com and also covers Android News at Androidnew.com.

[Q] [STOCK O2X ROM] Can someone help me out? :'(

Ok guys here's the issue. I purchased an O2x recently after months of saving up. After using it for two months on stock ROM, I changed over to the CM7.1 stable. But I'm not all that happy because I use my camera a lot n I miss the clarity n awesomeness of the stock camera. The CM7 camera is crappy :/
I lost the backup of the stock ROM i had made :'(
So i need a stock ROM n stock kernel/baseband. I'm a noob, totally. Can anyone please help me understand how to install the stock kernel or baseband or whatever it is? I downloaded the stock ROM from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1035041
and I downloaded the baseband from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1008070
What is baseband? And how do I install the 635mb stock rom?
If anyone can help me out patiently, I shall worship thee forever.

answer for your question-
Baseband is the Radio or Modem version depending upon the Phone Model, Carrier and Android Software Stack version. The radio firmware controls basic low-level functions like network connectivity, Wi-Fi, and GPS. Upgrading Radio firmware will fix connectivity issues, increase range or performance, decrease battery usage, etc. Incorrec tRadio frimeware can disable some functions in your phone such as MMS, 3G Data, VM Notifications, etc. Network operators/carriers select the correct version of the Radio firmware that is suitable for the phone, network and bandwidth.
Hope it helps for your understanding.

v20h has some bugs which will make u remove the battery after the calls gets cut. Like the display wont come up.If u had faced the same problem as me anytime,do let me know cos i found a baseband version which gets u out of this 20h problem. If u havent encountered then ur lucky.
As soon as i get the build v20i. I will upload to all my dear friends in some hosting site and will give u all link. It would be alternative link. So that my entire world uses it.

yes ofcourse. if u download v20h and if you had not rooted your phone, then you can upgrade using lg upgrade tool. if the new version is available then you can. if the software projects like "you have the latest version then you cannot".

[Q] Where to get xxlpz 4.1.2 firmware for s advance?

Hey guys, I am a newbie here. Also i don't know much about android. So please forgive me if I ask or say something stupid or childish.
I am from India and I have a samsung galaxy S advance I9070.I recently updated it to official jellybean via kies(Baseband version-I9070DDULP8)(Not a rooted device)
It is very slow and hangs a lot with frequent restarts.I heard that the official firmware xxlpz4.1.2 is comparitevely bug free and more stable and I wanted to try it out.But I couldn't find a firmware for it.I must have searched about 30 sites to download this firmware and all of them takes me to a hotfile link which is dead:crying:.Its like this firmware doesn't exist anymore.
Anyone knows where I can get this firmware? Please help me.
Also can u guys please tell me which is the latest and most bug free version of jellybean available(official one) for s advance.

Here we go: XXLPZ - SER download or here, but IMO you not doing so much related skip bugs.
Most of us, at the beginning, is debloating the unnecessary files, flash custom kernel (now you don't have too much for choose, only Cocafe's kernel) and so on.
But its your choice to flash other baseband.
Good luck

Unfortunately both of your link is also dead.Actually can you suggest to me which is the most stable jelly bean official firmware available and where to get it.For now I would like to stick to the official ones, since I am very unexperienced in these matters.
(Actually I dont even know how to debloat the unnecessary files and also didnt understand what you meant by flashing custom kernel and what is Cocafe.I mean I know what it is to flash a custom rom but dont know anything about kernel or even what kernel means.P.S- I believe flashing a custom rom is installing a developer modified version of an android version like jellybean or kitkat via odin which is possible only after you do a process called root in your phone and also which is compatible with your phone)
I appologise if I sounded stupid.Being a doctor I know very little about the technical stuffs.
Thank you for spending your valuable time for me.I really appreciate it.
