Add Passcode to your NST without any additional app - Nook Touch Themes and Apps

Hi
Excuse me for my bad English writing.
......
I active internal android pass code on may NST. but I can't remove it !!!
however i like it .
for do it you need install ADW louncher . but you don't need any additional program and after uninstalling this launcher , pass code still exist .
in " ADW launcher desktop " do this steps :
Menu > Add > Custom Shortcut > Pick your activity > Activities >
next find "Settings" and collapse it . ( it is your android settings )
next find " Passcode(.ChooseLockPin) " > OK
Click on Shortcut you create ........ WOW !
select passcode.
remember you can't back to previous state !!!
if anyone could remove passcode please notify me .

This is awesome! I'll work on trying to figure out how to disable the lock now.

Look HERE, Might help.

If you notice, he was the second to last person to post in that thread.

I was able to disable the lock using sqlite3
modifying
/data/data/com.android.provider.settings/databases/settings.db
When you create a screen lock it adds 4 new entries into the system table
lock_pin_hash
lockscreen.pinneverchosen
lock_pin_autolock
lock_pin_visible_pin
I deleted the value of the first one and set the other 3 to 0 using sqlite database browser
You might be able to just remove the value on lock_pin_hash and that might disable it I just went ahead and changed them all just in case.

thanks
i test it. though this passcode is better than "drag to unlock" !

could anyone post a screenshot, please? thanks.

any idea how it happened? It on and off for few days after purchased but now it stick to grey instead of the original black. Might be theme bug?
T.I.A
Try to change your wallpaper to the original one.
Go to Settings Tab - Wallpaper - Change to original and hit "Yes".
Its because your bar gets transparent when you personalize the Home tab with your own wallpaper.
thx for the quick reply. I tried it, restart the phone and it still there..
Sorry for the misunderstanding. Now i can see which bar youre talking of.
Try changing the theme.
Start - Settings - Today
Now you can choose themes. Select a different one, activate it, and then reactivate your old one.
thx but It doesn't work too
is it working when you change the theme to another one ?
if not, you can backup everything and try a hard-reset, this should solve it for sure.
I have this problem before caused by the program Mapking r12, which can be solved by deleting the "MapKing SMS" file in startup folder
did u install mapking r12,i have same problem when i install r12,all u need to do is to go to file explorer-windows-startup and delete away mapkingSms and soft reset,everything shd be fine aft tat.
Mapking is indeed the problem! Removed and no more grey bar. Thx everyone!
its not just mapking alone....i just installed geocool which for some reason didn't seem like it's been installed even though I'm sure the installation went fine(couldn't even find it in the Remove Programs list) , anyways after rebooting i too had this grey bar problem , went to startup folder as suggested by ninja_pimp and deleted a file named "Autostart"....voila! problem solved
thanks to ninja_pimp

[Q] Broken Shortcuts?

So whenever I install an app to sd card (via froyo, not rooted) the image no longer shows up on the desktop screens. The links to the app still work but the image is not correct. Is there a solution?
You need to restart the launcher app in order for the icons to appear.
If you use LaucherPro, go to Preferences > Restart LauncherPro
im using ADW and i just restarted the phone and the icons are still not right
Did you wait for the SD to be verified before entering you PIN to unlock the SIM? If not, try doing that...
If it still doesn't work, go check in Settings > Applications if you can properly see the apps that have a faulty shortcut. If you can get their info there, try moving one back to the phone and see if this solves it.
If you can see the apps but not get their info (e.g. their name is weird like com.myapp.whatever), then I'm afraid I can't help you further. I had a similar problem like that and wasn't able to solve it either. In the end I just installed Cyanogen ROM which has been working great .

Nah they all work fine, the info is all there and the links still work. The only thing that is wrong is the icon does not show the apps image on the desktop it just shows the little android in a white box android.
Like this: (sample image not of my phone)
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
but on the desktop, I know the apps have icons. This only happens with apps that I have moved to SD card (again, through froyo, im not rooted)
Ah then it's not exactly what I had (lucky you ). Mine also had the android-icon, but when i clicked it said that the app was not installed .
Have you tried the moving back to phone option? Maybe if you move them back to the phone the icon will re-appear and then you could move them back to SD later
strange .., indeed
same problem here. , tried some possible solutions..,
it just only happend when i restart the phone

Icon Request
If any of you guys or girls will like to have a more complete icon pack I will take any request, all you have to do is find the process name:
how to get the process name
1st way
1. got to https://play.google.com/store
2. search for app you need and click it
3. for example root explorer:
in the url bar you can see the process name which is the blue, it wont be blue on your browser but it will start with (com.)
Code:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=[COLOR="Blue"]com.speedsoftware.rootexplorer[/COLOR]&feature=search
2nd way
1. download SystemPanelLite Task Manager from the market
2. open the specific app you need
3. press home button
4. go to SystemPanelLite
5. press the desired app name
6. you can see the process name
3rd way
Use a file manager like root explorer to navigated to /data/data and look up the process name, the only thing is by doing it this way you wont see a picture of the app so is a little hard to guess which is which

How to restore user dictionary personaldictionary.htcudb

Okay, I am here because I have got enough pain to find out how to actually restore my user dictionary on Sense keyboard. As I am non English speaking person, I have hundreds of non english words in my dictionary and as well as shortcut english words also. So, its pain in ass when flashing a new rom and add those words from scratch. It doesnt happen eventually, and I left adding words after adding once in my whole life. Perhaps I am lazy but well.
So here is goes what HTC says.. http://www.htc.com/us/support/htc-one/howto/365638.html
It says to restore from a file which seemed a fantastic and easy idea but ALAS! There no restore option in keyboard! WTF?
So what we have to is, convert the htcudb file to a text file and restore with a app called Tweak User Dictionary
So the steps are Consifering you have a HTCUDB back file on your SD
Requirements
1.Backup of your user dictionary from HTC device. You must have the PersonalDictionary.htcudb file. To get this file go to Settings(on your HTC ROM), and then tap Language & keyboard >Tap HTC Sense Input.>Tap Personal dictionary >Back up to email.
When prompted, tap OK. You have the PersonalDictionary.htcudb file now.
2.Any office suite application.(MS Office 2010 Recommended)
3.User Dictionary Manager(UDM). Make sure you have it installed. You can find it on Google Play.
Procedure
1. Open the PersonalDictionary.htcudb file using the Word Processor. Use encoding UTF-8.
2. You will notice all your added words separated by "|" symbol. Select all data and do Ctrl+G
3. Go to Replace tab and type "|" (without qoutes ofcourse). Click on "More" button, and then click on "Special" button. Select Manual Line Break option from the drop down menu.
4.Click on REPLACE ALL button. Wait until all words are arranged in one word per line format.
5.Save the filename as wordlist.txt. Move it to your sdcard.
6.Open the TUD application. Click on Import from txt file. type the location and select OK. It will be stuck for 3.4 secs and then it will says *** words adde3d. I added 1012 words.
DONE!
To avoid all this crap above next, just simple back up with the TUD app and restore it with two clicks.
Click thanks If I have helped you a little.
And here is already addded words for some countries which is useful as well!

Hi. I had same prob but I have a "solution". U go to system/priv-app/SystemUI and copy SystemUI.apk to your PC. Install 7zip extracting software. Then right click SystemUI.apk and choose open archive (or somethin similar option). Then go res/drawable-hdpi-v4/ and search two image files. The names of images are recent_lock_app and recent_unlock_app. Copy these two image to another folder on ur PC and edit their resolution to 1x1. If you ending the edit, copy back the edited files to res/drwaable-hdpi-v4/. Finally you copy back the "modded" SystemUI.apk to system/priv-app/SystemUI and overwrite the file, then install it. I suggest you reboot your device.
Good luck!! I hope I help you!
(sorry for my eng im hungarian)
