Hey, thanks for posting here. Here is v20b : http://www.lgmobiles.com/gsm/download/P970 V20B(Gingerbread Version).rar
We don't have it for N version. I saw the russian forum and wanted to ask you about howvyou managed to root v20a before this method.
Sent from my LG-P970 using XDA App

this method is working just v20a(attachment patched bin file) right?
Where how I convert .kdz to .bin file?

I know russian very well.So i shortly translate all procedure done here.
They patched original 20A bin file , changing system recovery.img with clocworkmod recovery.img touch version.
Download 20A.bin extract it,and put somewhere in your computer.
and below there is a CWM flashable superuser.zip.
Download it and put to your Sd kart.Do not extract.
Then simply flash that patched 20A bin file with smart flash procedure posted here from radkor
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1448803
After finished flashing with smartflash tool go to cwm recovery and install superuser.zip
and you get rooted original 20A ginger.
Nice option for flashing and rooting
but we do not have 20N bin file yet.
we have only indian version 20B bin file, redpik posted it above

Unless it's a ROM or kernel you've created yourself, this doesn't belong in Development.

Doesn't SmartFlash auto erases all user data (factory reset at first boot)?

Okey... Maybe, tomorrow I will be a version (.bin) V20N
Sorry for my English

Ok. Let me try to understand this. They replace "system recovery.img" which is reside in the original rom bin file with "cwm recovery.img" (where to get this file?) and then flash it using smartflash tool. So after reset by smartflah, cwm is already in the phone installed. Then all is easy, proceed to install superuser.zip, etc..etc.zip.
How is it possible to obtain root by inserting cwm in the rom while cwm itself require root to run? Also, what's the "system recovery.img" that got replaced. Is it important?
Please investigate more. Need more info on how "patching" is done too. I don't understand russian.

I guess you need to investigate more how android works. Flashing recovery image with the whole system in a bin file makes cmw part of the "original" firmware so,like recovery that only can erase all this one can read/write in the system files. Sounds normal. I read on Samsung forums that they get root for latest versions by flashing a patched odin file and then a su zip. I will try it

Then we can say that this is universal method as long as cwm can be patch into the rom. Finding exploit is not necessary anymore. So, what's the function of the file replaced in the rom. Is it the original lg recovery method which is not available anymore if this we use this method?
Thanks for the explanation, I wonder why it hasn't be use before, maybe because lack of rom file in bin format?
Edit: downloading rom in your link, pls post how to proceed if you get hold of it.

to get the files out of a kdz: grab them while someone is using the KDZ program to update their phone. The files are extracted and put into "C:\ProgramData\LGMOBILEAX\Phone" but as soon as the program detects no phone the entire directory is blown away. Too fast to grab the files. So either you update for real (in which case you have the time to grab the files) or you create a symbolic link between the C:\ProgramData\LGMOBILEAX\Phone folder and another folder you create say name it C:\test. What happens is that files get extracted and then \phone folder deleted when no phone is detected but the files remain on the \test folder. So you get your files which are a "model.dll" file (in p970 case i guess something like lgp970.dll) and a .wdb file which is the firmware. How to proceed though to tinker further with the .wdb file so as to get bin file and baseband still elludes me

Hi,
Is there any posibility to change framework-res.apk file without CWM? I don't want to instal CWM becouse of it has a problem with front side cam and I need this cam. It's can't be overwritten when the phone works. Maybe some adb and push command is possible.

[Q] (Q) How to collect smart flash flashable file from kdz?

Hi guys, i searched lot, but did not find any proper solution for getting flashable files of smart flash from kdz..
Plz help guys..
Obviously you haven`t searched enough .
I think that you are looking for LGExtract 0.2.1
Tool is in it`s beginning, but from reading I think that it can extract smartflash files from kdz and it is tested on p990 (I haven`t tested it).
k, i tried that, now i got 13 files.
some are img, some fls etc.
but we need only 2 files for flashing with smartflash tool. bin and fls.
how to get them ?
As I said, I haven`t tried to do this, hence I can`t help you. You will must to read and ask for support in original thread, where the author of the tool is present.
If you are trying to flash kdz and since LG have changed their politics, try to read this thread too... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1473781
Hi all,
first, thank you Memhis, the tool is excellent. It works under Linux too in Wine environment.
But I have some observations and some questions
- first decrypt/decompile KDZ file only extract a CAB file - this CAB file can be extracted by cabextract utility
- after CAB file extraction, there is WDB file and machine specific DLL - this DLL file must be used for extraction of WDB, I try the newer one without success
- after performing extraction of WDB using DLL there are number of files which can be useful
AENEAS_FW.fls, psi.fls, R375_SIC.fls, slb.fls - these files are the baseband and can be flashed using smart flash tool - it must be flashed all, not only some
#_Split_Data.img - after joining this file to one, it contains Linux filesystem (now EXT3) with all data of /system partition and you can get lge-ril.so from this
The remaining files I don't identify and only speculate what is it
ext3_flashboot.img - this filesystem is used to boot for flashing???
fastboot.bin - ???
recovery.img - recovery partition - this images is used to replace ClockWorkMod I think
Once again, many thanks. I was searching for this similar tool about six moths ago.
can you tel me,how do you extract the split_data.img??
at this point i have no idea what i must do and find nothing about it.

There is nothing to "extract" from split_data.img. It is a true EXT3 Linux filesystem. You have to use a Linux box or something to allow mount an Linux image to Windows environment. I can only point you to http://www.ext2fsd.com/ site which is free good ext2/3/4 filesystem driver, but I don't know, if it is usable - it can mount a Linux partition under Windows but don't know it can mount a image file as disk. Hope so.
Thanks for the information, but I can't extract Split_Data.img (it's the joined file of 4 .img files).
How can I extract this .img in Linux (virtual machine)?

You have to mount it, like it is a whole filesystem. Google it to find out how to mount img file. Once done, you'll open it like a hard drive.
Edit: Forget my question, it works now!
My last question: Is the file "ext3_flashboot" the same as the boot.img files in CWM roms?
OK, I managed to extract the kdz file and I made a rebuild of V20c without flashing the kdz, just with extracting!
I'll upload it in a few minutes!

Hi Keltek, thanks for the manual. but i am getting some error, any ideas? I'm using Win 7 32-Bit. This is the error:
C:\>LGExtract -kdz V20F_00.kdz
Extracting:
KDZ: V20F_00.kdz
Failed to create cab file.
Error code: 00000005
Message: Access is denied.
Failed to extract file.
Please report this error with this file.
thanks
NEVER MIND: cmd.exe should "Run as Administrator", it works now.
The last question I have is how to join the 4 extracted baseband files to one file?
Does that work with copy /b command?
What i got from flashing basebands is that youre supposed to flash them one by one from largest to smallest file. so basically what you should be doing to "compress" the procedure is you unpack those 4 files, put the largest one in place and copy the others onto it, replacing duplicates. Then repackage what you merged, and try that, cant think of anything more logical than that.
That sounds logical, but I don't know how to extract the files.
But it's not very important, because it isn't a problem to flash 4 files instead of one.
Please extract Bb from v20h rohan

You should specify from which ROM file, coz there are many version with same identification but different content - I don't understand why LG do this - the V20q for Czech Republic is not the same as V20q for Italy...
I take a look at V20h and it contain 1035.21_20110725 BaseBand.

How to install firmware in developer devices?

My friends,
Some colleagues like to flash and restore roms too in developer devices (not for sale) like all did with KDZ updater everyday.
The question is: If KDZ isn't working with developer devices, then how we can flash it? How can we unlock it?
I discovered some things:
1 - KDZ is a encrypted file.
2 - Developers device has unlocked bootloader.
3 - I've tried many ways to flash kdz in this device, but it never concludes the process, never worked. It stops on "wparam=2010 iparam=18". There are diferents parameter varyating for each developer phone.
4 - We have to discover a new way to flash in this device, or we can decrypt the KDZ file.
*BINGO!* I DIT IT!
How to FLASH and Unbrick LG P880 Developer Edition
This procedure applies only for the initial LG P880 Developer Edition.
But how to know if your device is this version?
First, remove the back cover of your device and search for the words "not for sale". Then (if your phone still works), go to settings> about phone> Software Version. If the version of your device starts with the code V09a, V09b, V09c, etc. - This is a sign that your phone is the developer version!
This means you can not flashing KDZ files through the official LG updater. Even if you download the file separately, the only thing you will achieve is to brick your phone.
But our problems are over! I came to save you!
Procedure:
First, download the KDZ file of your choice here: http://lg-phone-firmware.com/index.php?id_mod=15
Second, download this firmware pack with DZ. File and proper .DLL File: http://bayfiles.com/file/bRZx/AZaxbu...GP880.v10A.rar
Third, download this drivers:
http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/swdata...er-4.10(2).zip
http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/data/L...in7_LGEAll.zip
Fourth, download LG Flash Tool:
http://www.mediafire.com/?pzqr0gsw8u9erxl
We will definitely erase any record of your device. Unlike the KDZ method, this one makes a "ULTRA HARD RESET". Our device is not registered as selling model, yet the hardware is identical to the model of the consumer. We'll do the flash rom, and also unlock the device so that it is compatible with the KDZ flasher once and for all!
Once you’ve downloaded all the archives, let’s begin. Go to victory.
1. Extract “LGFlashTool 1.2” and instal "Setup_LGFlashTool_1.2.45.921.exe"

10.After Driver installation, go to device manager and change the port “LGE CDMA USB SERIAL PORT” to “com41″.
11. Run LGFlashTool.

14.Choice (Check) “USB” and click OK.
15. Click on Port COM settings(COM plug icon) and select "1" ( Unmark the numbers above )
16. Click start(The Port 1 window should appear READY).
17.Disconnects USB cable and wait 5 seconds.

Think you made a lot of happy campers out there - impressive!
I think this tutorial should be "fixed" on the top of the " Optimus 4X HD Q&A ".
Someone should pay a beer to Xavier, he maid a great job !
Just one thing Xavier, the " firmware pack with DZ. File and proper .DLL File: http://bayfiles.com/file/bRZx/AZaxbu...GP880.v10A.rar" takes me to a dead end (need to register...), the drivers links are dead
Can you fix that ?
Tnx
Hey guys i discovered some things.
We can create a new DZ. file. And a dll can be extracted. Soon I will share how to create a new way using a kdz. file!

But Xavier, thats easy... every time you select "start upgrade" in R&D Test Tool (after you choose a .kdz file) it generates a .cab file.
You just need to extract what's inside of the V10x.cab ... it will be a .dz file and the .dll, in this case "X3_2008_v0.0.6.9"
I didn't explore a lot that "OMAPFlashInstaller" yet, not a lot of time for that now
Just a curiosity, the .dz file extracted from a V10f_00.kdz is good as well, or needs to be exactly the V10a_00.kdz?
Thanks

I presume you're talking about this link: http://bayfiles.com/file/bRZx/AZaxbu/.kdz_et_.dz_.dll_LGP880.v10A.rar
If you use JDownloader you can do it in 5-10 minutes (depending on your Internet speed...)
I start to download it 2 minutes ago, 3MB/s in 3 minutes it will be finished.
I'll try to upload to 4shared
This file contains:
- LGP880AT-00-V10a-EUR-XXX-MAY-23-2012+0.dz
- V10A_00.kdz
- X3_2008_v0.0.6.9.dll
Like I mentioned before, to have a .dz file it's just needed the .kdz file.
Once that you'll need it to flash, it's enough when you download the .kdz that you want.

Yes my friends, i will fix it very soon! Its 13:40 here in Brazil, I'm working now. When I go home I will do that!
@RuedasLocas-the problem is not the speed, I download it with ~1MB/s. The problem is that I tried downloading ~10 times, and it stops after 50, 90, 27, etc (up to 500) MB. It stops like it finished downloading and then the archive is corrupt. Maybe a different hosting service would be better.
Anyway, thank you guys for your help!

Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!
TechGR, you don't need that!
Grab the UpTestEX_mod2_marwin.exe (R&D Test tool) select the KDZ file that you want to install in your phone, hit the "Start Upgrade" and the programe will creat in the same folder where you have the "UpTestEX_mod2_marwin.exe" a .cab file. Even if you don't connect the phone, nothing...
As soon as you see that cab file in the folder, use winRAR to extract the DZ file and the DLL.
The "kdz-update" that I provide here:
http://www.4shared.com/rar/Re4VCOAS/kdz-udpate.html
Arghhhh again
Ok, I tried that, but it did not make any CAB file. However, I decrypted the KDZ using the same tool, and I ended up with a .dz file and a .dll file. I suppose these are the files I need
Well, I followed the tutorial from the first post exactly, except I used the two files I extracted. When I get to step 16 and I click Start, the port 1 does not appear ready (nothing happens).
I'm sure we're gonna sort it out soon, I gotta run now.

Can't install OTA using Mobile Odin, Odin and CWM

I downloaded a zip file from sammobile.com's OTA files section. The ZIP contains the following files:
debug_info ==> 1kb (size)
delta.hidden ==> 856kb
delta.modem ==> 1kb
delta.platform ==> 84455 kb
delta.Sbl ==> 1280kb
delta.ua ==> 241 kb
delta.zImage ==> 4936kb
the ZIP file won't install using Mobile Odin, Odin, and CWM. In mobile Odin, it says that the file is not an OTA / Update ZIP file, and merely extracted the contents.
the filename of the downloaded file is GT-N7000_SMA_93970111.zip.
any idea how i can install the OTA file?
I have tried searching this forum and google, but to no avail. it appears that nobody knows how to use the ZIP file.
Any leads would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance for your help.
What was your purpose in downloading this OTA file anyway? A firmware zip file either contains a single file with "tar.md5" as the extension or 3 files for CSC, Modem/phone and PDA file all of which are recognized automatically by mobile odin or can be loaded on PC odin. I don't think sammobile has files for CWM. No idea about the several files that are contained on the one you downloaded. From the size of the files alone we can conclude that this is NOT firmware as normal size is 600-900 MB.
What I understand from the word OTA is Over The Air and as such can only be used either within the device itself to update or thru kies.
Good luck!
I think it is a very specific scenario to use ota.
The ota file probably need you to have previous released versions of csc installed.
Dont know much about mobile odin.
I think ota is a new feature in mobile odin. Best to check cf mobile odin thread.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk 2
when Mobile Odin extracts the zip file you'll get a.md5 file. After the extraction just select this md5 file in Mobile Odin and you're good to go
According to the OP there is no md5 file contained on the zip file.
As per sammobile:

AFAIK OTA updates are firmware specific. You must be on certain firmwares to flash the OTA.For exampleTA update yyy may need you to be on xxx firmware for it to work. But sadly I dont know how to flash it....
Could it be that you have to be totally stock unrooted to be able to flash it via stock recovery (3e)? If that's the case the OTA .zip must be stored in external sd. I don't think need to rename it to update.zip, because we can still flash any .zip with the right signature on 3e. Thinking of trying on my Note but it has been 'out of flashed' for close to a month!

then tell us what do you want to do? the 3e recovery wont take the file even if it is renamed or not... I've got totally unrooted and on stock.

[SOLVED]How to convert system.sin to system.img?

Been looking around and I cannot get info(or I may have missed it) on how to convert system.sin to system.img.
The reason I want the system.img is I'd like to try deodexing my own JB(HKversion) stock rom.
how can I manage it in dsixda's kitchen, it says I need a system.img or either one of the following:
The format for each ROM must be one of the following:
- system.img + optional boot.img/lib.img (e.g. stock ROM or Nandroid)
- ZIP file for a custom ROM (e.g. update.zip)
- ZIP file containing *.img (e.g. stock rom.zip)
- ZIP file containing shipped ROM in SYSTEM + BOOT folder format
- Working folder made with this kitchen (e.g. WORKING_old_rom)
What I've already done so far was pulled out the system.sin from an FTF and made it system.ext4 in flashtool. And I also have extracted all the system files but I don't know how to go from here LoL.
Thanks in advance for any inputs guys.

Just rename it.
That works if you want to use system.sin in dsixdas kitchen to make your own rom.
The instructions say to rename system.sin to system.img
PS, in fact you can just use system.sin, check in the first post for supported devices, it tlks about what to do for sony phones

- If using stock FTF for kitchen:
1) Unzip FTF file, extract the system.sin
2) Dump system image from system.sin w/ Flashtool
(Advanced-> SIN Editor)
3) Rename dumped file to system.img
mate, I tried renaming it and put it on "original_update" folder but still the file cannot be detected I still cannot create a working folder and says
CREATE WORKING FOLDER FOR ROM
==============================
Ensure there is at least one ROM under the 'original_update' folder!
Select an option:
s - Show supported formats
x - Abort, don't create working folder
Or press Enter to continue
?
I also tried renaming the flashtool's dumped data(system.ext4) to system.img but still to no avail.
Any other way aside from system.img thing?

No, it doesnt matter, I did it with that setup, but its much easier with a ubuntu dual boot.
What you did should work.
Extract system.sin
Dump it with flash tool to get system.ext4, rename to system.img and put in original input folder.
then choose create working folder....
try it again,

I used the same setup I have for my latest release as I did for my original ICS release, so the api level should be OK

I have always just left it in for my releases, but seeing as I dont use it, i have personally deleted both the file and the odex file.
I think its the same for all stock based roms...there will be some aditional sony security on that file as it enables you to download sony play station games so the kitchen is not set up to integrate the odex file into the original one.

mate, apologies for many questions, this is my first try so I'm still confuse of many things
so after I de-odexed, what's next?

11 - De-odex files in your ROM
12 - Tools for boot image (unpack/re-pack/etc.)
13 - Add /data/app functionality
14 - Add /etc/init.d scripts support (busybox run-parts)
15 - Unpack data.img
16 - Sign APK or ZIP file(s)
17 - Convert update-script or updater-script
18 - Plugin scripts
99 - Build ROM from working folder
0 - BACK TO MAIN MENU
basically I only want a deodexed ROM and the CWM and root retained

What do you want to do?
You cant do (12) use championshipswimmers kernel kitchen for that.
But i do suggest adding 14, and rooting it (thats in the main menu)
also, zipalign apks...but it will ask you to do that when you compile it
Other than that its up to you. Just try some different options out and see what you think...thats the best way to learn, if you see my releases, the first two versions were not released because I was learning and playing around with it
Make sure though that you dont use the updater script it produces, its wrong for our phones.
"Borrow" one from a working ROM in our dev section, just ask permission first.

ok mates, thank you very much, I managed to de-odexed my stock ROM:good:
This is what I did. Using flashtool, I dumped my system.sin file to get a ext4 file. Then I open it with ext4 reader and extracted the contents. I then placed it in a folder called 'system' and proceed with the android kitchen.
Humans have evolved to be smarter, but there's one thing we can't get rid off. It's human stupidity.
If you still want to deodex playstationcertified.odex rename it to com.playstation.playstationcertified.odex.
That did the trick for me in earlier firmware versions.
