Hey guys, I have the same problem. Tried the same method as above. Couldnt find the thread about it.
I Even tried to download the stock firmware from Dr.Ketan's post and use Odin but couldnt extract the files.
Please Help...
Thanks

you need to use jig, if you have raised binary counter, back to stock ROM, can't solve it.
BTW, use winrar/7zip to extract file.

Firstly, Thanks Dr.Ketan.
I am a newbie. Would you be able to share about 'jig' ?
Thanks in advanced again.

You can purchase OR make yourself here is guide

How to use JIG
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1354888

Using a jig is unfortunately the only way to reset your Samsung Note into a clean (warranty friendly) status. To be honest... it is some kind of "blind flight" because after loading the old ("wrong") bootloader via ODIN your device will show nothing after the reboot. Could be a little be scary for some people... but it works ;-)

Before I do this, I am going to use Odin to go back to stock.
I downloaded this firmware from your post:
N7000DXLA1 -------2.3.6 2012 January-----N7000OLBKL2-------Malaysia
Questions:
1. Do I need the PDA & CSC files to execute this unroot? Where can I obtain it? Have been searching for hours still cant find it.
2. What is the best way to root it again?
Thank you.

Single file .tar is enough, when u go back to stock with pc odin, it will automatically get unroot.
Installaion guide is there in post #2 from whr u downloaded.
There is best way is zergrush exploit.
Find it from my signature(first link)

What's the difference between rooting via zergrush vs. CF-root? How to cf-root?

I'd like to speed up my Note. Kinda sluggish at stock. Even iPhones are smoother. What is Rocket Rom & Litening Rom? Is it safe? Which is better? or are there any better ones out there?
Just before unrooting I was using AbyssNote2.3, 1.703GHz, alot of heating & no difference that it was earlier. Netchip was smoother.
Thanks

Zergrush n CF root using same exploit to Root. CF root have extra benifit that it pushes CWM along with Root.
Really I never used any custom ROM till day. N it depend on own choice n requirement. You can find details n review of other on corresponding ROM thread, I can't comment much on it.

[Q] Help - How to root Samsung Note KL3 (Singapore Starhub)

Hi there
Yes I know there are articles about this (damn long articles with strange terms). And I have read through a lot posts about how to root Samsung Galaxy Note - there seems to be 1001 ways to do it but none of them worked on my model KL3 (purchased from Starhub in Singapore)
-> Tried one-click root method - doesnt work anymore for KL3
-> Tried odin method, can't find the place to download the revised ROM (just wondering why will the author still post the URL that is invalid?)
So please anyone out there, if you have done any successful root on KL3, please let me know how you did it.
I am willing to pay you some $$ to get the no-nonsense answer - I have wasted 1 day digging around and I don't want to waste more time.

First downgrade your firmware, then Root it. after applying Root, you can back to Singapore KL3 or watever new ROM you desire, by using CWM or Mobile Odin
Hi sorry to hijack yr thread OP,but i am also from Singapore.i bought a set from singtel.
my firmware are as follow:
PDA:N7000DXKL3
PHONE:N7000DXKL2
CSC:N7000OLBKL2
Baseband:N7000DXKL2
Kernel:2.6.35.7-N7000DXKL3-CL825081 [email protected]#2
i am confused on which one to look at as both pda and phone has different KL version..so which one should i be looking at for rooting purposes and can my current fw be rooted directly?
Look at kernel version. You are on KL3.
Follow dr.ketan's post above.
thanks for replies.
what puzzles me is that,i read dr.ketan's pdf guide and found that N7000DXKL3 is direct rootable.have u tried and it failed?

Actually xxkl3 was released early that was direct rootable, but some newer version released under kl3 are not rootable
Actuallt kl* are non rootable, except some early kl3. So you shud try to root it directly, if not success you should consider it as non rootable.

Mmm.
I m from singapore also.
I can tell u, i don't care which version i am.
Normally i will just download the newest version from www.sammobile.com and flash through odin, and on ICS, if i loose my root, i will use http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1746794. To get my root back. Easy and fast.
Ps: i never do full wipe on ics, i tried once and brick my device.

Did you even read the sticky? If its still no rooted, try flashing a new stock rom via Odin and try rooting it again using the method mentioned in the sticky. Just in case you didn't understand what I'm rambling about here...the magic word of the day for you is.... 'STICKY'.
????????
No idea what u r rambling about .... no idea what u mean by STICKY, but i am new to the mobile chatter.
but i read the instructions yes .... and they seem to work with some phones and not with others ...
they do not work with mine and that's why i asked was there any root instructions that will work on 2.3.4 galaxy ace (DDKQ3) ...
so far, NO ONE has said YES.
Sticky means the sticky thread at the top of the galaxy ace forum. It has phone specific tutorials.

Wow how unhelpful are you
I also have galaxy ace on 2.3.4 purchased in late march. The current methods for rooting don't seem to work anymore. The person who started the thread and myself would like some helpful advice from some1 who knows something about how this stuff work. Cause we don't and that's why we post!
Flash the attachments, and you've got root access. I've been using them for 2.3.4 as well as 2.3.6. Works like a charm.
Oh, and BTW, these are from the STICKY thread!
EDIT: I take you know what FLASHING means?! If not then go learn that first before you go any further. And use the SEARCH option. It's not there for baking biscuits!
I have tried to flash:
AceGingerRoot.zip
Root.zip
Universal_GB_ROOT.zip
Update.zip
upd_1.zip
None of these actually work. The root.zip you recommend comes up with an error the aborts.
I have S5830T and I just purchased this last month so things may have changed since you rooted your device. I'll try recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.6-galaxyace-fix.zip after I research what it actually does (OMG - Yes I'll use the STICKY).
I hope you realise that if it waas as simple as flashing the root.zip that we would not actually need to post and ask for help!

Well, if Flashing doesn't work try to push all the stuff using ADB. It never fails. And that root.zip, I've been using it since day 1 and still use it whenever I flash to stock using ODIN. Never stopped working for Me. Try the ADB method, and report back. Let's hope for the best. And if possible post the log of the error which you get during Recovery flash.

- It is meant for noobs but it doesn't explain the process of rooting, flashing with ODIN or CMW in any detail (it just says do it!)
- The links are all broken
- There is information from many different people making no sense to anyone new to smartphones
I mean are you ****ing kidding me!!! What a mess!!!!

It didn't work, however I noticed that when I boot into recovery I get the error
"applying Multi CSC Can't access to '/system/csc/TLP/system"

I think this means I have to flash back to stock!

cwm post root

I cannot seem to find the answer that I am looking for for my issue, maybe i missed it.
I tried for ages to get to the root plus cwm to work and i could not make it happen for my phone, is there a way to put on the cwm option POST root?
I was able to get the phone rooted but had to go about it a separate way and i would like to put some custom rom action on this miserably boring phone.
Thanks
I rooted my phone first then used mobile Odin pro to flash the cf kernel which means I now have cwm and recovery.

[Q] Couple questions about rooting the Note (total beginner here)

Hello there, I'm still new to this forum but I did read quite alot before I created an account.
So I want to root my phone and flash a (probably still GB) rom on it, but I have some questions first. I did read the guide for rooting.
- First, if I root does the warranty expire? I know there's an unrooting method, but just to be sure.
- I have a subscription by a provider, so my phone is not unlocked. I'm still able to root?
- My kernel version is XXLA6. In the topic for rooting it says this a non rootable kernel, I don't understand. Can I root my phone?
- If so, what method should I use? There are a couple of methods in the rooting topic, but I'm not quite sure which one I need.
- Should I perform a backup? And if so, what is the best way.
Looking forward to read the answers to these questions so that I can (hopefully) begin!

1. yes, your warrenty wil be void. but if you use the "zergRush Exploit" samsung repair will never see you were once rooted, if you unroot it before sending it in.
2. yes
3. Use ODIN to flash a rootable ROM through the "zergRush Exploit". (so you need to download a ROm and ODIN first)
4. download KJ4+ODIN --> use zergRush Exploit (explained in the thread)
5. best method is a "nandroid backup", but you can only do this when you're already rooted (hehe). This is especially handy when you're going to flash ROM's kernels or whatever. (It's like an image of the exact state your phone is in).

edit: and if so, I should enable the usb debugging mode I guess?
Another question: will I be able to normally update to ICS with my rooted (and with custom rom) phone when it comes out?

U need to downgrade first to get device rooted.
Kj4 is rootable rom, so first download this(or any older rom)

don't know about this guide... but if you download this official dutch ROM: http://www.hotfile.com/dl/136171858/ca6b62f/N7000XXKKA_N7000XENKK1_XEN.zip.html
And install it through ODIN (select as PDA, and don't check any other box)+put phone in download mode by holding power+home+volumedownbutton): http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=815370&stc=1&d=1323799721 (Password : samfirmware.com)
You'll have a rootable stock dutch ROM -----> root it using the "zegrRush Exploit method" (so you won't lose your warranty).
When you've managed that, check back here!

You'll have a rootable stock dutch ROM -----> root it using the "zegrRush Exploit method" (so you won't lose your warranty).
When you've managed that, check back here!

profit!
Alright thanks, will try that first!!
I downloaded everything and ready to begin, but I read somewhere that I need Kies for detecting the drivers or something. Is this necessary? Kies doesn't work on my pc, but my pc does recognize my phone without any problems.
If Kies is necessary I'll have to do this at my parents house lol.

Alright will try thanks!
Hope it goes well !
Rooting went superb!! Also did a titanium backup + nandorid backup to my sd card. So good to go for flashing custom roms! I'm so thankful!! You guys are great.
I do have another question: let's say I want to flash a custom rom on my note, but with a different kernel (franco's for example), how does that work?
Flash the ROM first (because these include kernels). And just flash the kernel on top of that, just make sure you clear the caches before flashing (regular cache and dalvik, dalvik cache is under the 'advanced' tab).

[Q] How to safely root/unlock my phone? (read inside)

Hi everyone, just wondering if anyone could bare with me and help me out with my little issue.
THE ISSUE:
I bought a locked (Vodafone) I9305 for my girlfriend, in hopes that I could then SIM-unlock it as easily as I did with my Galaxy S2;
I understand I need to root my phone before I do that, so...
THE QUESTION:
How do I backup my phone before rooting it, so that I can return it to the exact state it came out of the box?
Also, what's the safest method for rooting it?
And before you guys tell me, I did use the search function, but it only came up with some generic tutorials that don't really go into what I want to do.
Any help would be really appreciated!

To go back to stock use odin, and to search your firmware go to sammobile.com
As for rooting (im not sure), i think if u flash supersu.zip from supersu thread on stock recovery u will get root

Try CF-Auto root for rooting (using odin) from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1959605,
easier and simplest way to root.
After rooting, just do a factory reset and your phone status will stay Normal/Official instead of Modified.
Please note that this is just root and no custom recovery is included
to get back to stock, use Odin too as the C4SCA mentioned above
there are multiple guides on rooting, backing up, and unlocking.

Wait, what? Since when does doing a factory reset on an Android phone takes it back to the original firmware? I've had an HTC One X, and a custom firmware on it, and everytime I do a factory reset, it just deletes the files, it doesn't change the software at all. Am I missing something here? Is it different with the Galaxy S3 I9305?
Ok so, sorry for double posting, but I think I'm getting somewhere.
Since I only need root to unlock the phone, once I do root it (I figure I can use this guide?), I should FIRST unlock it and THEN reset the flash counter? And then, in case I need to return the phone back, I'll reset it to factory state (unrooted and locked)...how?
Just need help with this last question please!

Dude, I never said it will change the firmware, it will change the system status under settings --> About phone --> Status to Normal from Modified
This enables to get OTA updates even if the phone is rooted
To answer your last question, you just need to flash the stock firmware ( which is currently on your phone) again using odin

You're wrong as you don't have to root your phone to unlock it! Not i9305! Downgrade JB to 4.1.1 and follow this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=34661189

Oh, I saw in your other post you said to flash 4.1.1 with Odin. Could you tell me where could I find the correct ROM for my phone model? I'm on Vodafone Portugal and baseband version (if it matters) is I9305XXBLL5.

Download odin, install drivers (install kies for example), go to sammobile.com, search the firmware for your device (unzip the download file until u get a tar.md5 file), go to recovery mode, wipe data/factory reset, put the phone in download mode, plug to pc, terminate all tasks linked to kies (in task manager), open odin, click pda, select the tar.md5 file, hit start, wait
Dont touch any settings in odin or u may brick your phone
Ja agora clica em thanks por favor
