[Q] SMS - Hide contacts without phone number - Galaxy Ace S5830 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I have my contacts sync with gmail, and in the contacts app i can hide the contacts that don't have phone number (Display Options), but in the messaging app all contacts show up.
Anyone knows a away to hide those contacts in the sms app or an sms app that have this option?

I have Galaxy S2 with 4.1.2 and I have the same question. I can hide contacts without numbers in phone app, but in sms app there are all contacts shown, and sms is automaticly convert in to MMS if I send multiple SMSs

There's no way to hide AFAIK.

SMS Popup app

I recently downloaded an app called sms popup but am disappointed because it only work for the standard sms app. I use google voice all the time for sms and am wondering if there is a popup for it. Does anyone know of one or is it possible to modify the original to do google voice sms too?

[BUG] Productivity lockscreen don't show SMS

Hi,
So I think it's bug, I choose the productivity lockscreen and check
messages
email
calendar
But when I receive a sms, it show notification on top bar, the little (1) number on dock message icon, but the sms is not displayed as it should be on lockscreen.
The meetings and emails from my work's exchange server are correctly displayed.
Does someone have a clue?
I use the stock rom not root or unlocked.
Try this go to message settings notification and tick display on screen see if that wo
Same for me. It displays only
calendar events
mails from stock email app
but not
sms from stock messages app
mails from gmail app
whatsapp messages
At least for SMS I think this is a bug, GMail and WhatsApp probably don't use the Sense API at all and won't get displayed unless a future version does. Very unlikely though for GMail.

It corrected the problem, but after 20 min, the same problem appears again, the checkbox was uncheck again. That's a little odd.
Is that a setting stored on the google account?
I re-check the boxes hope it last more than 20 min this time.
But thanks anyway.
I got this and fixed it by rechecking calendar. If Mail is clicked SMS won't work. No idea why. So it has to be events, SMS, and Cal.

Moto x stock messaging app

Is there a way to send a contact through the stock messaging app without having to use a 3rd party app? I can only email them on this device

Not quite sure what you mean. The messaging app is just called 'Messaging' in the app drawer and if you open it and create a new message, you can start typing a contact name in the 'To:' box and it will bring up a list of matching contacts you can select. Or you can just type in a mobile number. You can also use 'Hangouts' for sms/mms, but you have to turn it on in Hangouts settings.

Emergency alerts (Android 10) in other SMS apps

Hi,
is there any way to receive emergency alert messages in other apps and not in the default Messages?
I asked Textra about it and the answer was:
If the amber alert / emergency alert comes in as a SMS it will show up in Textra, if it comes in as a push notification it will only show up on your pre-installed messaging app out of the box, poor practice we know, but this is their way of trying to lock you in.
This is the same for all other messaging apps.
I hope this clarifies.

The problem is that when an alert comes (and since I have Textra as default sms app) instead of viewing the alert I get a popup to choose another messaging app!
Does this happen to anyone else? Any ideas?
