[Q] USB-host mode in latest ICS - Galaxy Tab Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

In the thread about ICS it's written that USB-host mode was added.
As i understood after installing new ROM, there's a special software for usb-host mode. But I need instructions "How-To".
Do I need a connector from newer Galaxy Tabs'?
I just don't have it - that's why i'm asking about it - is there need to buy?

I'll help bump your post, I've asked the same and haven't got an answer yet.
I'm assuming we'd need the Sammy USB adapter used on the 10.1 and 8.9 etc...

[Q] Is Clockworkmod worth it? (on a Korean Tab)

Hello,
I have a Korean tab SHW-M180L.
I tried clockwork mod and I chose a US CDMA Verizion clockwork tool.
I loost the recovery mode, as it wasn't compatible.
Before that I tried recovery2e.zip from the forums. It wasn't an wise idea to mess with recovery mode.
I took me a bit of surfing how to force the device in download mode by pressing buttons (the home key) and I got the thing back.
Tegrak had an odin version of the latest firmware for the tab on his page pspmaster.tistory.com and after reflashing it I was back on my merry way.
I'm using Tegrak's kernel which now supports unsigned update.zips as of the latest version.
What is the big deal with clockworkmod? Most of the patches for it are for US based roms anyway, so there isn't much demand for it in Korea? Maybe someone could update me if there is any point ot try again.
I may be a android newbie, but one thing for sure I'm not al Linux newbie. I am thinking of making a ONENAND supporing MTD kernel with AXFS/EXT2 execute in place and making a better swap driver using ramzswap and an app to manage it for the market.
Your thoughts please!
Have you succesfully flash your device? I have same model as yours. If it does what rom are you using? Thanks
That's my model below. I'm a fan of tegraks kernel except I'm yet to find where he is dumping his source. I don't see much point for clockwork mod in Korea.

Yep using odin. I'll try out heimdall too in the near future. tegrak's kernel can be also installed by a sgs kernel flasher after you rooted the phone with superoneclick. I can email you the zimage if you PM me. The download page is pspmaster.tistory.com for tegrak and I'm sure you can find the leaked version of odin for your tab. Remember to press volume down when booting to put it into download mode before running odin.
As for the other debug question hit me in a month. Just got a job in a mobile game development company
I'd rather hack stock roms in korea than customize it using someone elses image.

[Q] Galaxy Tab OTG capabilities

Can anyone make a flashable zip from these sources ?

sztupy made a port for i9000 and users report it's working so if it was originally ment for P1000, why isn't there any recent kernell with this (great) stuff implemented in it ?
I am new to developing kernels and am trying to do this very thing. I am porting the changes into jt1134's kernel from rootzwiki for my device. This is a CDMA ICS kernel. I am running into some issues though. Wish me luck.
I wish you as much luck as you need. Please make a GSM version of your port, if you can.

In fact the changes are very chipsets specific. sztupy made it for a Galaxy S, but the Galaxy S Plus use a different one, and the Galaxy Tab 7" too, I guess. So does it for the GT 8.9 and 10.1 (Tegra 2 inside. ^^).
So we need all the specifications and the pins out depending if used with a "hacked" OTB Cable or the OTG Dongle from GT 8.9 and 10.1. So not so easy... ^^
At least this have been integrated in the the CM9 ICS ROM and kernel version. I have seen this was working a hacked OTG cable, but don't know yet if it's working with the official Samsung Dongle.
If any one have this dongle can test it and report back ?
Can't do it myself as I lost mine for some months already and can't retrieve it...

Hacked OTG cable - you mean that somebody had done it?
Hm...one guy tried - but it was unsuccesful(
but probably it has to be done from application - usb-host mode?

[Q] Support usb host mode i9000

Hi all,
I installed the CyanogenMod 1.10 for Samsung Galaxy S i9000.
But I've seen that does not work in the USB host mode.
Can you tell me if there is 'some way to make it work or if it will be' supported in the future?
Best regards
Geomag

[Q] Newbee ... Need help

I got a Galaxy Note 2 (GT-N7100) that has been rooted. By looking at the "About Device" it has Kernel version 3.0.31-343940 and running Android 4.1.1 with build Omega v6.0-ZSALJA. he problem is that I want to root it again with another ROM but my PC does not recognize the phone. I have it in Debug mode, but still can not load drivers needed to flash a new ROM. Any help will be appreciated. I do not know much about this kind of stuff.

In general if you have a custom rom you also should have root and Cwm. You just need to wipe and install the new rom.
