Replace Touchwiz apps by stock - Galaxy Tab 7.7 Themes and Apps

I was wondering if it would be possible to simply replace Samsung's custom TW apps by the vanilla ones ?
I love the Tab's hardware and the video player (codecs) but I simply hate the other apps Sammy modified (mainly contact, browser and email apps). It would be perfect if I could simply replace those apps by the stock ones.
I understand that's not going to be possible until we have deodexed ROMS, but would'nt it be possible to modify the vanilla's APKs so they would install as third party apps which we can then choose as default app ?
Sorry, I'm no developer and my question might sound a little naive, considering HC source won't be released.
Sent from my GT-P6800 using Tapatalk

i use stock camera app (honeycomb version) in my tw rom and it works perfectly.

Thanks for the feedback, but like I said it's mainly contact and email apps I wish to change. ;-)
Actually, the perfect combination for me would be Vanilla Android with just Samsung's video player or codecs.

I have no clue what qwerty remocon is, but the Nexus S should have the same DLNA compatibility as any other SGS phone so its just a matter of finding an app or modifying AllShare to work on the SNS

That is most likely true and it sounds like you need a TouchWiz phone :/
I like this phone much better than my former vibrant. I only asked because those galaxy variants have some great features. None would be worth going back to touchwiz proper and rfs and lag fixes, etc. Still, getting some hacked touchwiz framework to allow the installation of those great codecs and some of the apps another poster listed would be the best of both worlds, especially since this phone has MOST of the same hardware.

Stock LG Apps on CM?

Is there any way to do this? Mainly the video player, sms app, quick memo, and dialer. I switched to official cm but I really miss these apps. I went back to stock because I got myself into a bootloop when restoring some apps with titanium backup. Cm is great but some of the stock LG Apps are really nice, is there any way to install them on CM?

Not going to happen. The vendor-specific apps rely very heavily on the additional framework that they add to the base Android system. Adding all that back in would defeat the whole point of running CM, and would also open devs up to legal action as those apps are proprietary and protected by copyright law.

I'm sure Carbon is a good rom but can anyone give an idea of what it can do that the device cannot do on the stock rom with custom launcher and third party apps? Since the Sprint S4 version does not have it's own changelog (at least I didn't see one) not sure what features are working and what doesn't. Also, don't you lose all the air gestures, eye tracking, etc when going to AOSP rom?
I tried nightly 3 and I kept getting setup wizard fc. do I have to flash an aosp kernel or does it come with one.

Yes your going to loose the entire set of unique TW features that come with the S4 - air gestures, smart scroll, etc. A lot of people don't care for those features, me personally, I like to show them off but I don't ever really use them.
A lot of people absolutely despise the TW interface. And yes some of it can be changed with third party apps and mods but not all of it. Some people want the clean AOSP experience, you can easily theme your entire interface (dialer, messaging, unique colors, blah) with themes from the play store without the need for downloading a bunch of third party apps for each individual thing you want to change. Also native DPI changer is included in a lot of AOSP roms. It's really just personal preference. None of the Samsung bloat, Sprint bloat, awful TW colors, just check out roms like AOKP, AOSPA, CM, etc, on other devices.
I recommend checking out Slimbean for our device to get the general gist of what AOSP roms provide you with.

I really liked Slimbean but ended up going back to TW, AOSP is getting there, but I ran into too many bugs that I didn't have to deal with when I was using TW. I miss just being able to switch roms as I please, but my job kind of requires me having a phone that works, all the time, and quickly. Hopefully in the next week or so those issues are fixed because they seem to be on the nightly (or in the process of being fixed on the nightly) (all my problems were with signal and calling. Ex: distorted voice, bars were all over the place and I randomly lost signal in places where I had full bars of 4G with TW)
Just a word of caution if you decide to hop ship from touchwiz.
Besides that, AOSP>Touchwiz because I sure as hell only use the features to show off, i'd much rather have a stock unified UI than having to download apps to achieve that. It's also alot quicker since you don't have the framework of TW and the features weighing it down :good:

I'm familiar with AOSP roms (ran them on many other phones) but was specifically asking about Carbon. Not bagging on AOSP roms just seems like a larger sacrifice with all the newer features of the S4. Granted I do think a lot are gimmicky and don't work that well but do use Smartstay & IR functions.
Just curiosity more than anything.

Papyrus is great and all, but the lines aren't as smooth as S Memo. I know this is a necro post, but someone may be interested. Papyrus IS a great and free app, but it leaves something to be desired in fluidity. Still better than TW, IMO.
I had the same issue. But I converted the notes files into text format and upload to Google Keep app, which is available in play store.
Copy all snotes files to PC and rename the extension to .zip or rar format. Then open the archive files to find thumbnail jpeg and type the contents in notepad and copy to Google keep

I found to be the best "freenote" and color note
somehow have better accuracy
Is there a way to get my S Notes from my Samsung account somewhere? From the PC? I'm using an AOSP ROM, and I want to get my S Notes back. Is there a way, or would I have to flash a TouchWiz ROM to resynchronize them?

...there is , try Adobe PhotoShop Touch. I've heard a lot of hype about Papyrus...Give "Write" a try - has more of the awesome S Note options, like the ignore hand/palm thing, so you can write like most ppl normally do, w/o you're whole hand in the air.
Papyrus is good... some features like the true eraser and export to dropbox are premium features that don't cost that much.
I prefer write as it offers a lot of functionality.
You can also use Evernote

There is Tiny apps, that you can find on the play store in two flavours: paid and free. ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ragingtools.tinyappslite).
It is a collection of 5 floating small apps: note keeper, drawing app, calculator, voice recorder and music player, that can be opened on top of other running app to have them handy when you are doing something and need to quickly do something else.
You can activate every single tiny app by means of a widget.
I've bought the paid version and used the app for some week before deciding that they were not so much essential to me.
I think they work well and do what they are supposed to do, even though Qslides are probably more refined, from a graphical point of view.
I used them on a 10.1 CM. In the play store there is nothing written about the compatibility with CM 10.2, so if you want to try them out, you'd better start with the "light" unpaid version, first.
