Droid 4?! - Motorola Droid 4

Can we get a Droid 4 section, please? The phone was released 2/10/12 and we already have root for it, yet this forum doesn't have a section!
Thanks in advance, admins!

+1 , plus we have a dev who's got a root method.

Please post in this thread requesting a droid 4 section:

You know there's going to be a D4 forum eventually, it's obvious.

help

hey is there anyone who can help me root my sprint hero cuz i have tried like 3 different ways and i keep getting stuck the best step by step i found was the market4android site but as im running the cmd i get up to the shell point then it tells me not found and i dont think it pushed the files over to my phones sdcard what am i doing wrong please help me it fustrating
What you need to do is figure out what firmware version you have and then use the search function of this board to find out how to root your version, the development forums on xda is not the place to be asking these kinds of trivial questions that can be easily found with search.

well perhaps if you had posted in the general or the questions and answers forum you could have saw threads about rooting.. but instead you posted on the dev forum....
This one worked for me when all else failed. I think it's the only one that works for android 2.1.
Look for a thread titled "[GUIDE] How to Root Sprint 2.1 Release for CDMA Hero"
Thread moved to Q&A.

There are instructions everywhere on how to flash it. Also, thats an old version, the new KJ3 released today
step 1. dont post questions in dev forum
step 2. ???
step 3. profit
I'll get straight to the point....
Despite stickys and forum announcements most of us are still finding ourselves becoming terribly, terribly vexed at the amount of [Q]'s cluttering the dev section...
Therefore, from now on, if you do not follow the rules outlined below, you will be infracted. Break them again and you may find yourself unable to post anything at all on any forum!!
[Q]Surely thats a bit harsh aint it??
[A]Not really....
We've tried to be nice about it but that clearly doesnt work.
If you cannot read and abide by the simple rules in this sticky then I dont know how you're going to manage to hack your device without running into trouble.
The Dev section is NOT for asking questions.....
The Dev section is NOT for general topics..........
All threads posted MUST be prefixed with a description of the thread, [ROM] / [Kernel] etc etc.....*
*(Not planning on being particuarly strict on this. You guys (the devs), know how to title a thread.... just a pointer for new devs.)
Basically, unless your thread is to actually release something or discuss something of a very technical and n00b unfriendly nature, it doesnt belong here!
Pretty simple really.....
If you see something that shouldnt be here then PM me....
I will try to check in as reguarly as I can but I have a few sections to keep an eye on and believe it or not, a life outside XDA
Yes thats right, there is life outside XDA

This is a direct quote from the sticky at the top of this forum. Read around before you post. This would have been received much better in the Q&A Forum. Because its a question. And nowhere close to a development.
Thread locked. xCRZYx, post your question in the Question and Answer forum. This is development only.

prateekgujral

Is he locking anybody elses threads for no apperent reason or just mine?
I post a link to the ics port and he locks it and says all ics development convo should be in his thread that consists of 3 people saying nothing about an existing port that boots and is smooth with wifi and bluetooth.
Why you mad son?
He actually deleted my post and I don't know why
Why not just discuss it in his thread like it says to?

Why would i discuss someone elses rom in a general OS thread?
I was linking to RootzWiki to a ROM not trying to start a hangout.

Guys,
1. Till the time an ICS rom is ported or developed within XDA, no other threads are allowed.
2. neckbonest - your post was deleted as you were directing members to another site, which is against XDA rules.
3. Threads are closed to keep the fora clean.
4. Opening threads like this will not help.
5. I would have expected the OP (calling me "son") to have taken a bit more matured step, like PM me. Many of my fellow mods will construe this as "non-cooperation with the mods"
Cheers!
oh BTW - This thread is closed now. Please PM me if you have any questions.

Because it's not your ROM, and this is why we don't allow threads in dev forums to just be a "pointer" to a ROM on another forum.
The dev forum is for devs who wish to release their own work.
prateekgujral obviously started an ICS thread for all things ICS related, so that several hundred other threads don't start appearing, cluttering up the forum...I would have done the same thing. Thus, you really should have just linked to it in his thread.
Also, please refrain from starting any more threads questioning a mods actions...it doesn't help anyone. If you have a question or concern about a mods action, contact a senior mod or moderator committee member.
But in this instance there's no need as prateekgujral has done nothing wrong

1) this is development section, post your questions about anything in the Q&A section of this forum
2) All information for rooting, kernals, and roms is in this section, first do your searches and read through the threads before posting anything.

There is no point discouraging some one who is new! You were not an expert when you joined. yes he did a mistake by posting in the dev section but that doesnt give you the right to have a go at him.. xda is all about sharing each others knowledge.
Welcome to Android mate. Congrats for buying the beast! And Please use search from the next time.

Do not use cwm.zip (temp recovery) to root Galaxy note on ICS!!

Hi,
This has been reported and confirmed that using temporary touch recovery method to root Galaxy Note on ICS is not safe, this has been posted several times in the forum but lot of people are still trying or asking to try this method.
PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS TEMP RECOVERY, it can brick your device.
We have very good method to root Note on ICS in Dev and General section sticky by dr.ketan.
Here is the link to that thread (all credit to concerned developers and dr.ketan)- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1329360
I am posting this thread here as it is still not posted in Q&A section.
Dripller also took note of this
http://drippler.com/updates/share/temporary-cwmzip-galaxy-note-found-cause-hard-bricks
Basically this warning thread is available in general sticky. And myself only requested to close thread, b'coz all the time discussion less and debate was going more, indeed its proved unsafe. Hope here members will show maturity and not making any statements, can put newbies in trouble.

Thanks Doc. , seems like new users are not checking Dev section and they are still trying this risky method for root.
Thread closed and stuck
This isn't open to debate. Do not use cwm.zip.
