USB 2.0 A Female to Micro-B Male Adapter cable supported in Milestone? - Motorola Droid and Milestone Accessories

Hi,
I want to connect my pendrive/usb mouse to my milestone via USB 2.0 A Female to Micro-B Male Adapter cable. but milestone is not able to connect it. nothing happens when i connect the cable to it in its microusb port.
I tried the same in Samsung galaxy SII (unrooted) and it worked well.
I am using [ROM] CyanogenMod 7.1.5 (Android 2.3.7).
I want to know whether the milestone lacks some hardware capabilities or it depends upon ROM?

Use sixaxis men!!!
Wow! mmm.... i dont think that was possible but You could try SIXAXIS to connect a joystick at least. So you can use it like a mouse or any you want without any cables. (Sorry. My english is not so good).

IIRC mounting a usb flash drive should work but only if you plug it in before you turn on your phone.
ie turn off phone, insert OTG usb adapter, insert thumb drive, turn on phone.
But if you remove it after, you will have to repeat the process. Search the dev forum.

USB OTG supported?
I thought USB OTG was not supported on this phone. Does it really work?

IIRC, I think some work was done to try to compile a kernel module to enable support, but it stalled out when they realized there was voltage issues.

Q USB Host Cabel HD2

I`ve seen video released by Cotulla, that our HD2 supports USB-Host. But are there any cables to buy or any schemes to solder this cable and drivers to use Usb-host function?
Sorry for my English!
Cotulla if he want he can connect the Leo with music stereo cable and use it for usb .. i have not see something like that you want

works for sure on ubuntu, dont know about android.
for wm only with cotullas drive, maybe you can beta test
But why miniUSB instead of micro???(mini usb is written in the scheme)
And can this cable damage my HTŠ” HD2?
you can always get the gender bender and a powered hub.
or micro usb to usb and powered hub.
if you're scared.
get irc and go on #htc-linux-CHAt

To use USB Host in Leo Ubuntu 0.2, you need a cable or adapter from micro-USB male to USB female. And because Leo doens't provide enough power you need: 1) a powered USB hub, or: 2) an Y-cable

USB gamepads + ds7

is it possible to use a USB gamepad with the tablet? what kind of adapter would be needed?
You would need to construct an OTG cable, or use the hdmi dock.
Dell has never made an official OTG cable
You would probably need a PDMI to USB adapter, but I don't think any exist.
what if i use a female to female usb adpater like this one http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-USB-2-0-FEMALE-FEMALE-F-F-ADAPTER-CONNECTOR-/280732594049?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item415cf76f81#ht_2429wt_1041
Those are a great way to damage both devices being plugged into it, they're not normally made for a reason

OTA ICS: USB Disk mount?

when looking at the storage control panel, it lists internal, sdcard-ext, and then "/mnt/usbdisk_1.1.1" and says "insert an [sic] USB disk for mounting".
so if i were to come up with some sort of adapter, could i plug a thumb drive into my phone's micro usb port to move files between the phone and the thumb drive? i can think of plenty of times that would be useful!
Tried. OTG cable works with Samsung galaxy S2 devices (Skyrocket using either SKY ICS or rooted OTA) but haven't got it to work on our Droids...(Bionic ICS leak, RAZR ICS OTA, Droid 4 ICS OTA...all rooted).
But if someone can prove me wrong I'd be happy to "eat my words" ...

OTG works, BUT only in a very cumbersome way, since external power is needed.
A powered USB hub does not suffice, since it only powers the slave devices, not the host (= phone). The phone must be in charge-mode, which requires a Y-cable.
You need:
- an OTG adapter
- a USB hub with mini-USB in
- a USB Y cable with 2 normal USB plugs and one mini-USB out
Then
1. Connect the OTG adapter to your phone's micro-USB input
2. Connect the 'middle' USB plug of the USB Y cable into the OTG adapter
3. Connect the 'outer' USB plug of the USB Y cable to a charger (can be a portable battery as well)
4. Connect the mini-USB plug of the USB Y cable to the hub output
5. Connect any device you want to use to the USB hub
It looks like this (found this picture for Razr):

Edit: I verified it for Droid 4 last week, but didn't take my own picture yet. Works with ICS .215 leak, no 3rd party apps (like 'StickMount') seem to be needed.
Edit2: According to some other posts in this forums (search for 'OTG') it will only work for FAT32 formatted drives. Didn't check this in detail but my drive was already FAT32. Also I found it did not work for my cheap wireless keyboard's USB dongle, but connecting a wired keyboard worked fine.
...reminded again why I love this community...
...no possible links to a purchase of this "y" cable?

Glad I could help!
They come with some portable harddisks, so that's where I got mine. Not sure about the linking policy on XDA, please remove if not allowed. Here's an example:

Nexus 7 OTG Questions

I have a OTG cable for my nexus 7. I need to connect it up to my computer and a mouse at the same time with a USB hub, How can i connect it to my computer. I have tried a usb-usb cable with no luck
I wonder if a wifi usb dongle would work. I hate that I had to call it a dongle, but I can't think of another word for it right now.
The tablet can either be a host (for the mouse device) or a device (for the PC host), not both at the same time. If you want to use adb while using a mouse, look into wireless adb.
Try Timur's USB Rom

I was wondering, can you use a usb otg with a usb hub so that you can use a keyboard and charge the N7 at the same time?
It probably won't work with a USB hub, because the side of the hub that plugs into the tablet wants to receive power, not give it.
But you can use a Y cable and one of the kernels that provide OTG charging, like Timur's kernel, faux123 kernel, and probably others. Search Google for 'Nexus 7 OTG charging'.

OTG is being properly detected, but keyboard not working or lighting up

Has anyone hooked a keyboard up to Shamu using an OTG cable? I have a Startech Microusb to Miniusb OTG cable and others in the reviews have confirmed got it working with keyboards, mice etc. I also tried a few OTG test/troubleshoot apps and the OTG cable is being detected, but the keyboard is not being detected or powered on. The keyboard is a Ducky Mini and has a Miniusb output, so it's plugged directly into the phone.
Using Lineage + Francokernel + Magisk, all on the latest updates. Thanks.
edit: this is the cable; https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B018M8YNDG/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
edit2: upon further review, some people are saying that one specific miniUSB version of the cable is charge only (when all others are data/charge, oh joy). I'm confused though, if that were true how would USB thumb drives (or anything OTG) work if it's not giving off power?
