I too ask this question from myself every time I look at the screen of the Note, Because unlike all the other Gorilla glass displays I have seen, Note has visible Scratches. My Samsung Galaxy S, or Galaxy SII never had a single scratch. But the Note, Lots. Ut gets scratches so easily.
After all I dont think Its a Gorilla Glass as they claim on sites, Maybe Monkey or Chimpanzee Glass. LOL

It's weird how they market it saying "cornered gorilla glass"

yes, the corning dot com company mentions themselves on their site

as i know..yes..only that gorilla glass is not scratch proof..its only scratch resistant..

I understand that you'd like to know whether the back side of Nexus 4 is made of Corning Gorilla Glass. I will certainly help you.
AdaptiveMesh, only front screen of Nexus 4 is made of Corning Gorilla Glass not the back. If you come across any other information that you'd like to pass along, please feel free to reply to this email.

Gorrila glass protects against keys, knives etc but against particles is where it fails. A substance such as sand would easily cause gorilla glass to scratch

I've contacted LG support again
michelle: Thank you for holding, I checked the phone specs and it seems that the actual front screen of the phone is made of Gorilla Glass only, the back or the back cover it is not.
Alessandro : thanks, i've talked with LG UK, and they told me it is gorilla glass
Alessandro : how's that possible?
michelle: Sorry about that, the back it is not. I will inform our engineers to correct that information

LG has been pretty clear about this since day 1, the back is not Corning Gorilla Glass. They have specifically informed reviewers in the press to not call the back gorilla glass. It is some other kind of hardened glass, either from Corning or another maker. Gorilla Glass is a brand name. Don't get hyped up on brands, they're near-meaningless.

1) The manual says yes but in reality I have not been able to? YET?
2) the crystal used is made from sapphire glass so cannot only be scratched by either another sapphire or a diamond.
3) I think only YOU can answer that, it de[pends on what you want from a smart watch. The Gear is far more advanced but more expensive.
4) Yes, but why would you want to? This sort of negates the purpose doesn't it?
You are welcome. Let us know what you purchase and why.

1. Yes the phone has to have a data connection to connect to the S-Voice server. If you always have wifi available that will work as well.
2. None so far, but I expect it will happen.
3. I love my Gear, no experience with the others.
4. Yes, you can mute it, set it to vibrate, or adjust the volume to set it at whatever you like.

The Galaxy Gear does not have a sapphire crystal face. Early reports stated it did as well as that it was waterproof, both were proven wrong. Check the manual, it states the screen is glass/acrylic and warns about damage from dropping etc.

Hi,
Thank you for this post. The point regarding sapphire glass is driving me crazy. My initial posts here on this subject regarding the use of sapphire glass where to write that I could not see how Samsung could afford to use a sapphire glass at this price range. I was bombarded with post after post saying I was wrong and the crystal used IS sapphire glass.
I detest writing about things I know zero about and I, to date, still cannot find a single line from Samsung that states what that crystal is made from. I have read several reviews that quote the crystal as being made from sapphire but I repeat, nothing, nada, from an official Samsung source.
I don't doubt you for a second. To help me with this can you reference where you got this information from? You mention the manual. I have downloaded and printed the full official manual from Samsung Europe and cannot find a single mention of the crystal? I may have missed it and if that is the case may I ask you the favour of informing me the page number.
I have never believed the Gear had a sapphire crystal yet so many posts here and on other forum plus reviews say it has. Would be simply great if we could clear this matter up so I don't perpetuate misinformation.
Many thanks.
Me too heard it's sapphire glass

No problem, It's in the manual titled "Health & Safety and Warranty Guide" that comes packaged with the Galaxy Gear. Page 16 the heading at the top of the page reads "Display/Touchscreen" and quoted from that page, "WARNING REGARDING DISPLAY The display on your device is made of glass or acrylic and could break if your mobile device is dropped or if it receives a significant impact."

Several of the pre-release blurbs I read stated it was a sapphire crystal and that it was waterproof. I haven't read any official reviews after it was released that continued to state either. I think most of the misinformation can be traced back to the pre-release write-ups from folks that had little first hand experience with the device.

Thank you for the kind and informative reply. I guess different countries have different literature with the watch. I don't have the guide you mentioned?
I would guess this must also be available on line though so will go search for it :good:
Its still odd though as you quote the guide as saying "Made from glass or acrylic".....This makes things even more of a puzzle and raises more questions that it answers. Glass and acrylic are not one and the same. Sapphire is a glass. This still leaves the door open for the crystal, the watch glass, to be made from anything from a plastic to sapphire glass? Its intriguing.
How do you interpret this "Made from glass or acrylic"? They are as different as chalk and cheese . I have doubted from day one that the crystal is sapphire. Its just to expensive and given the size shape and chamfer of the crystal would have made it even more expensive .
I guess we will know soon as if it is glass it will scratch.
Any fellow poster willing to do one of those hideous drop tests to find out? I hope not but.............
Kind regards.

Nothing in that article says anything about the Note 4 having Gorilla Glass 4. It says samples soon and devices next year.

I recall seeing GG3 on the spec list at some point, but that doesn't mean much.

Confirmation from Corning the Note 4 uses Gorilla Glass 4.Thats a really nice Suprise!
That's good to know, perhaps that's the reason why when the metal pin (used on adjusting weights in the weightlifting machine we own) fell about 3 feet straight to my phone screen, only the thin film on top of it got scratched, I almost got a heart attack when I saw that heavy pin plunge straight to my phone screen
*edit
I just read the article from the corning site, does this mean that only phones made past nov20 get the glass or do they mean that other phones outside of the phones mentioned like the iPhone 6 and Galaxy Note 4/edge /alpha would get the glass because I bought the phone last Nov 17
It's an exynos 910 C though
So I have managed to scratch Gorilla Glass 4 without really doing anything with the phone, nice. The scratch appeared shortly after I bought the phone - I didn't even put it in my pocket or anything.
^Awww, this is my first really good phone that's cutting edge for its year so I'm really protective of it, I'm planning to buy a tempered glass protector for it, and recommendations?
I was happy to find out that there weren't any scratches at all on my phone screen after the weight training machine pin (is there a real term for this) fell straight on to the phone screen

Anyone tried the official S9+ screen protector?

Right now i'm currently with the official galaxy S8+ screen protector and i find it awesome, i was wondering if someone tried both the s8+ and s9+ samsung official screen protector and could tell me if they're the same or if there's any difference.

Yes, since the samsung didn't make an official screen protector for note 8 i'm using the one made for the S8+ and it's pretty good. I'm curious to know if the one for S9+ is better or it's just the same.

This is TPU but the feel is good, the screen responvity is perfect and after a couple of days the mark of the S pen disappear. BTW they remain only when my 7yo nephew play with it, if i use the S pen i don't use a lot of strenght so i don't leave any mark
