Galaxy tab 10,1 rooted - unrooted - Galaxy Tab Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I rooted my galaxy tab a little bit ago and everything went great and i also installed the galaxy task 9.0 rom and i'm on android 3.2 but what i was wanting to know is how my galaxy tab became unrooted? I dont know what i could have done to make it do that but i even got root checker pro from the market and it says that i'm not rooted anymore but busybox is installed so i know it had to be rooted at some point for me to get that on their. What can i do to root it again? I tried to flash the galaxy tab 10.1 root rom back to the tab and it didnt work. If anybody can help me out, that would be great, thanks a million.

Hello,
In the new ROM what you have installed the kernel was not modified (pre-rooted). Busybox alone will not help you in this. Busybox is just a toolset. A mini linux from where necessary system commands can be executed. For example su which logs in an executes the program or command as root. It can execute successfully if the kernel is rooted also.
I suggest to browse the other threads because there should be a rooted kernel for that ROM. Download that kernel and install it.

Thanks for the info, i'll check it out

cannot root with superoneclick?

Hi, i need to unlock bootloader of my galaxy tab so i need to root first and so i selected exploit (psneuter) and rooted with superoneclick and then when i copy patch to tab and run it it says "This application requires superuser(root) to function"
Can anyone help me?
Get SuperOneClick v1.8beta under @ Android Apps and Games. It can root and/or market fix. Read my post towards the end for instructions on how to make it work.

I root my galaxy tab with Z4root and it works perfectly

(ROOT) Any version of android (kernel exploit)

In order to root your Nexus S (from Gingerbread to ICS!) I have made a script that all you need to do is launch with your PC! (credits to saurik for the exploit)
Hope this will help you
All you need to do, is run the script! Then, plug-in your phone (needs to be on with USD ADB DEBUG ON) and done!
You can download it here: http://www.mediafire.com/?qhefhtgs20fdtsd
This will root your phone, and then you can afterwards flash ClockworkMod from the market and then reboot into recovery =)
Peace be with you.

I'll test it later. Does this use fast boot to unlock?
And saurik? He's the king of cydia. He got the exploit?

It worked great, thanks guys
haha..rooted..thanx!!!!!!...
is there a way to make this work with a xoom?
When I try this it shows that it worked, but it doesn't seem to load properly since ROM manager says superuser not found. When I try to update the bineries it also fails on "checking current install path".. failed to find currently installed su binary.
Any ideas?
Edit: I'm running gb 2.3.6

same here...
does it work with all android phones.like xperia phone.
Thanks!
Just ordered my wife a Nexus S, will try this Friday and report back!
Nice!
Ran it and it worked. Well, ran it and then had to do a few things to prove that it had worked.
After running the script, you have to install Superuser in Google Play Store (Market). Then, I installed MyBackup Pro (paid version) which does a few more fancy things if it has root access. When I ran MyBackup Pro, it said that I have superuser access.
Sweet!
I ran this on a Nexus S i9023 running ICS 4.0.3.
It looks like root access remained after reboot. Pretty good!
COOL! Thanks for sharing! The Nexus is en route!

This is an early April Fool right? The Nexus S is completely open and doesn't need exploits to gain root. Unlock the bootloader then you can use fastboot to install a custom recovery image. Simples.
Hi there, have you made one for the MyTouch4G or do you know if one does exist for it ?
Thanks

Didn't work for me.
Ran the zip, plugged phone in. Downloaded superuser, and then Rom Manager. Rom Manager couldn't see root.
Modified version of this:
http://theunlockr.com/2010/12/17/how-to-root-the-samsung-nexus-s/
worked for me.
I had to transfer Rom Manager to the phone via email because I couldn't get it to download anything from the market on wifi. Flashed recovery through CW. MIUI is now on the pone.
SWEET!
got it to work to install ota 4.0.4 manually via cwm...only thing is i lost root and it seems this exploit doesnt work on ota 4.0.4 so i cant run it again...
this is cool
thanks for this man...i used it when i got 4.0.3 and worked well on my i9023...ini 4.0.4 it diddnt work...but i restore back to 4.0.3 and installed voodoo ota root keeper from the market...and i restored the the root ran with the script in this poost in one click in 4.0.4 . awsome
Does it wipe your phone in the process?

That requires wiping your phone, and unlocking your bootloader. Appears this works with a locked bootloader.

Getting rid of superuser app

I really could use some help here. I tried to root my note (ICS 4.0.4 LRQ) using the root unlocker tool for windows. It failed but it installed the superuser app. Eventually I gained root access by flashing super su and busybox using stock recovery (latest rooting method introduced in August 2012). Now everything is fine except one thing. I use super su and want to get rid of superuser. I managed to uninstall it using System Tuner Pro (strangely it is not shown in Titanium Backup). But the problem is that superuser reinstalls itself with every reboot. How can I stop this? I tried to uninstall it and to delete it manually but all to no avail. Any ideas what I can do?

If TB is no listing the app, (weird), they Link2SD
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.buak.Link2SD&hl=en
uninstall it from there... if not able to .. try converting it to user app and then try
also try uninstalling the updates first and then the main app
Download this
http://download.chainfire.eu/212/SuperSU/CWM-SuperSU-v0.96.zip
Flash from recovery
if the superuser app is installing again with every boot then it maybe because of your kernel.. have u flashed the hydracore kernel or speedmod kernel.. if you got speedmod kernel then create a file in /system name it .noautoroot using rootexplorer.. now delete the the superuser app from /system/app(not the supersu app).. now it will not install it again again.. if you have hydracore kernel then i don't have any solution.. maybe out there on xda someone knows

Thanks it helped, superuser is finally gone. Do you know why exactly it has worked? What other things apart from installing super su does this zip file?
Sent from my Galaxy Note running ICS
It just adds super super, or overwrites existing. As well removing superuser if existing.
