(GUIDE)How to get ROOT,WIFI+BT, CWM Recovery, Face unclock + Gapps for ICS BETA - Xperia Arc Android Development

Hey Guys, Just thought I would put together everything in one thread for everyone so you guys can get everything available for ICS beta atm, Most of this is thanks to DoomLord!
Firstly, To have CWM Recovery, Hotboot any kernel. I will explain
1. Download a kernel e.g Doomkernel v19 and hotboot via fast boot
Type in Fastboot boot boot.img
Then boot while repeatly pressing back button/volume rockets to enter recovery.
This will not flash this kernel only boot it so nothing else required
2. Then get into recovery by pressing volume rockers and flash whatever you need, after this reboot your device and thats it
Well it does require you to have PC access everytime you want recovery but it will have to do for now
OR for easier way simply install this CWM installer made by pvyparts which works fine with ics beta rom and don't need PC for it.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1437840
It could cause issues as this CWM isn't made for this but no issues have been reported as of now.
To Get faceunclock and google apps such as market, gmail:
1. Go to FXP Cm9 thread and download their latest gapps and flash via recovery( use method above for recovery)
To get ROOT access:
1.Flash the superuser fix via recovery ( access recovery via method above)
2. Go to the market and download busybox by Stephen Sterricson and then select any version of busybox and install it. NOW YOU HAVE ROOT
Thanks to Binary, We have WIFI And Bluetooth now too. Go into build.prop via Root explorer, OI file manager (free) or other file explorers:
add these lines into system/build.prop
persist.wifienabled=1
persist.btenabled=1
OR flash the package by Doomlord via recovery ( use method above). Much easier
Now we have everything that is needed Thanks to Binary and Doomlord once more.

Thanks alot .... All what is left for now is the Wifi fix .... doom said bin4ry has a build.prop fix or something anybody found it?

you are so quick mate
have you try using doom on screen button enabler??

I have wifi and root
Sent from my Xoom using Tapatalk

Thanks guys, and ill try and find the wifi thing. If i do ill update the thread

How did you get wifi working mate :O Please share

You can just hot boot doomkernel after installing se boot.img by
Fastboot boot boot.img
Once u restart from recovery it will revert to the original kernel
Sent from here to there.

Thanks updated OP

Hi guys,
I think Bin4ry's fix was that there's a line in build.prop called persist.wifienabled which needs to be set to 1 (true).
I'm backing up my ROM and then I'll try it on my arc, see if it works.
Cheers
EDIT: it works perfectly ;-)

Better flash a package to enabled wifi and bt.
In just 30 mins i got too much pn's about how to edit the file oO ....

this may help?

AWEEEEEEEEESOME .... WIfi and BT works now thanks to doom and bin4ry
you need to:-
1- use any kernel to just boot into CWM
2- flash this package : http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...38&postcount=2 .... i deleted the first presist in the package . i don't know if it's necessery or not
3-turn off device
4-flash SE kernel Again (UMAD? SE kernel )
5-Enjoy Wifi And BT and the whole ICS .
6-good luck

Yes its available for Ray... Just need a Hint.. Should I start flashing using Flashtool or something?.. A small guide on How to flash would have been very nice...

How to flash the SE Beta ROM? Urm its linked in the SE thread, heres how to do it though. Its all flashed via fastboot btw. Extract the package to fast boot folder and copy and paste userdata.img, system.img and boot.img to fastboot folder. Then open command prompt and:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash userdata userdata.img
fastboot flash system system.img

[Q] Failed to install CWM Recovery v2 and/or v3

Hi,
My Phone (Axioo Vigo 410 -- another OEM build from FOXCONN FB0) just got re-flashed with stock rom. I tried to change the recovery by CWM Recovery but it didn't succeed.
Tried the v2 and v3 and all resulting the same result. When trying to enter recovery mode, only blue vertical lined screen appears and then back to vendor logo and stuck there. When changed back to original recovery, it works normal, and I can enter recovery mode.
Does anyone ever found this?
Got a solution?
thanks in advance,
saintfalcon.

Hi,
Thanks for replying.
My current Kernel version is Apps_2.6.35.7-perf like you've said.
Now, in order to use CWM Recover, what would you suggest?
Of course I've tried to replace recovery.img through download mode. I've replaced recovery.img manually using either CWMR v2 and v3 and nothing works.
But if I changed back to original recovery.img, I could still enter the recovery mode, the original one.
Thank you in advance,

So sorry mate,,my connection very sucks I just can browsing with my phone
Try to search with keyword : zeppelinrox v6 supercharger script
Maybe explanation on thread little confusing you,,but read carefully n you got it
If you using ICS ROM,,of course you cant got 100% supercharged,,,because service.jar ICS have limited ADJ Value manage,to solve it you must patch in service.jar,,dont worry,no need work hard,,just upload service.jar-patched in-download again(has automatic patch and manual patch)
Read on his thread(zeppelinrox,he is who made V6supercharger and other tweak script)

CWM Recovery not working
I had issues with CWM recovery on my SHARP ROM and based on this topic downloaded and installed in data download mode the TJ Style CWM recovery file.
When i try to boot into the recovery mode the Phone just vibrates and nothing else happens and i need to remove the battery and reboot to get back to recovery ..
- I removed the existing recovery.img file and copied the tjstyle recovery.img file
I dont know what the problem is and would need the expert help in resolving this issue.

Have you tried the recovery shared by paarkhi in this thread #7? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=27542481&postcount=7
or try to look for CWMR v5.
Thanks .. Saint .. i did try this file also .. but i was not able to get into Recovery mode.
Not too sure if i am doing something wrong in the process. I have deleted the old recovery.img and replaced the new file recovery.img into the x: image folder
So when i press the volume up / down button and try to boot the phone my phone just vibrates continuously and no display on the screen also .. i have to remove the battery and then get the phone to function normally.
Thanks

Try to reflash nb0 file again maybe your image partition corrupt..
Or try this method :
Run download mode and connect your phone to PC (windows) open cmd (command prompt) type chkdsk /f F:
Change F: with drive letter that your images partition mounted..
Thanks for your inputs .. i just tried the chkdsk/f command in download mode and tried to get back to recovery no luck ..
So my only other option is to try to get reinstall the Sharp ROM again. using SUT tool which i will be able to do only once i get back home ..
Issue Resolved .. I had to rerun the Image again using SUTLR and that fixed the issue.
Thanks .. Again all members i am now updating ICE COLD SANDWICH will again get back if there are issues.
All's well that ends well
Thanks .. Paarkhi ..
this Forum and the fun of installing new devices is reminding me of my good old days when i used to always do dual partition on my PC's and load Linux , Windows 98.. but only thing i don't have my elder sister and brother scolding me for messing around with PC has its my phone ..
Thanks a lot..

[CWM] ClockworkMod 6.0.1.2 for Xperia T [UPDATED - 15/10/2012]

This is a CWM recovery for the Xperia T - you need to have unlocked your bootloader at http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/instructions.
I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR BRICKING YOUR PHONE ETC. ETC. ETC. - I'm sure you've heard the rest before.
Steps for installation:
Download recovery from http://goo.im/devs/tilal6991/recoveries/mint/15102012.img
Download fastboot and get it into a place where you can run it - I'm not going to provide instructions how - guides are all over the place
Open a command window in the place where fastboot is
Copy the recovery.img to the fastboot folder
Type fastboot flash boot recovery.img
Type fastboot reboot
You will be in CWM!
Note:
The first time you install a ROM you will need to flash the boot.img of that ROM using fastboot - I'm hoping this restriction can be removed at a future date.
A CM port is also up - compiled by me.
Thanks to:
All the CM guys for having their code on Github - I didn't do anything but compile and figure out the instructions for flashing.
Hmm, so tempting but not sure since you've not tested it on the T. Someone else gonna go first?
EDIT: I am sorry, a bad assumption possibly. Have you tested this on a T?
I have. It's tested and working. I've flashed CyanogenMod and using it as a daily as well.
Will have my T today but I wonder how to access recovery in daily use? (undestood the 1st time access, but not the next accesses...)
backup and restore work?
Switch off phone.
Power on phone with volume down held.
And although I haven't tested there's nothing that indicates backup/restore won't work.
Sent from my Xperia T using Tapatalk 2
Hmm, the recovery just cycle boots into recovery mode. It never boots into system
As I said the first time you flash a ROM you will need to fast boot install the boot mage of the ROM.
Sent from my Xperia T using Tapatalk 2
So then you are forced to flash a rom after installing cwm?
Sent from my Xperia T
Yes. Since you are flashing the boot partition its a pseudo recovery so a ROM needs to be flashed.

I flashed this last night successfully. I couldn't get side-loading to work, but it's smooth otherwise. Have not tested backup / restore yet.
Additionally, FWIW, I then flashed the Paranoid Android ROM, and while I've got some issues with it, I didn't have to flash the boot.img from the ROM for the ROM to boot, so I am not sure if that is still required or not... or maybe that's what's causing my issues with the ROM?
Thanks for the recovery!

So this recovery has to be initially installed on the boot partition, but does it copy itself to the recovery partition on first boot or do you have to reflash it every time you want to switch from running a ROM to running the recovery?
Also, is a stock boot.img available anywhere (so that this recovery can be used for nandroid backups with the stock rom)?
Once I am finished with this recovery how do I turn the phone off?

Hold vol + and - and power button.

Hmmm... It works for me
Just after flash .195, I re-installed recovery - install.bat
I think we need to make sure we are on stock 195 kernel. Try flashing this in flashtool and see if it works then
Im on a stock kernel, now on the FTF Kernel your provided in your ROM thread, for some reason, when i flash your ROM, CWM gets removed, i can't go back into it, i have to flash .303, and then use CWM to flash your ROM, i had to do this to upgrade form 003 to 004.
Locked bootloader, running Assaye v4. thanks to CWM. we just need a flashable version to flash after we flash roms.
You rock bro.

There's an easy fix for this as i just came from the xperia s and had to deal with a locked boot loader on it as well.
We need a flashable version of CWM. this way after you flash a rom before you reboot your device you install CWM, then reboot. then you have ROM and CWM.
I guess you could also try and run the bat file again. (didn't work.)

[STOCK][Jelly Bean 9.1.A.1.141][T]Rooted & Deodexed[10/06/13]

This is just a simple ROM I built with dsixda's Android Kitchen. Saw some people requesting a clean, rooted, stock ROM so I started a poll to gauge interest and it was enough for me have a crack at it. It's not really development but I figured this was the best place to drop it.
It's based on the LT30P_9.1.A.1.141_PL.ftf posted by @Supersonic335. I only rooted and deodexed it.
All the usual blah blah about bricking your device applies. It works fine on my phone so it should work on yours.

You lose CWM after the flash because it's not in the kernel image as it is in a custom kernel.
The reboot fix has to do with the ric file which causes reboots when trying to access /system as r/w iirc.
I'm going to be testing a build now which has CWM and the reboot fix integrated and also a different fix for the "missing" wlan driver.

OK, all the sequence again from the beginning.
1. I flash stock 303 rom
2. Rooting it, installing CWM via usb debugging mode.
3. Entering recovery, flashing rom (recovery after flashing rom is still exists, isn`t it?)
4. Then i flash what ? CWM or reboot fix ? I suppose fix, because CWM will be still availiuble!?
So, what for to flash CWM form CWM? If i will lose CWM i still can flash new CWM from installed new .195 rom via debugging mode, isn`t it ? Or i don`t get something at all ? ((
You need to flash both CWM and reboot fix. After reboot CWM will be gone. It is actually in a ramdisk while in recovery. The recovery.tar which holds it is in /system/bin and is flashed over on update. That's why you need to flash it again. You should be able to install it again from. 195 but it's just easier to do it while you're already in recovery. It doesn't matter which of the two you flash first.

All clear, thank you!
Will try to do it today.
Just flashed the rom, CWM and fix, everything passed just great, everything works..., what can i say, i`m happy! Thank you so much for your work.
But one thing, you didn`t make changes in kernel ? It`s strange, because the kernel in this .195 f/w is dated by jule, however this kernel was in old .303 f/w and in the new .195 f/w there must be new kernel dated by september, what do you say ? And i see changed file sysmon.cfg respondable for CPU frequency control and LCD brightness. In the old f/w i was changing values by myself as i want LCD brightness, and i see this file has an another values than in old .303 f/w. Does it you made changed or this was in stock ?

This is just a simple ROM I built with dsixda's Android Kitchen.
Basic flashing instructions
Locked bootlader
1. Flash stock .303 FTF from the All-in-One thread with flashtool
2. Root with Bin4ry's method
3. install CWM for locked bootloaders.
4. Go to recovery and wipe
5. Flash ROM.
6. Flash CWM & Reboot fix
7. Enjoy

You should add to instruction, that after all need to flash via Flashtool stock kernel from .195 f/w from here
http://www.mediafire.com/?2b75t7dpk72z12h
Otherwise there will be bootloop after switching on extended battery mode. I flashed, and everithing is OK

My bad. I've fixed the instructions. Glad to see you figured it out by yourself!
Hi.
If I am on other custom Rom with LB, do you thing that I will be flash directly your Rom step by step, without 1step/flash. 303 stock Rom/, without problem?

If you are already on a custom .195 and have working cwm recovery you can flash it directly. I do advise to wipe, you can make a backup up your apps with Titanium backup.

Now that 7.0.A.3.223 is out, ¿any chance of getting an updated version of your rom?.
I like deodexed stock ones with as little modifications as possible, so I can customize them to my likes.
And so far yours has been great (except I switched SuperUser for SuperSU).

I am on CM 10 (JB 4.1.2) but would like to come back to Stock ROM. What kernel do you recommend?
Thanks,

I've been using Siyah kernel with rom 3.195 and I'm very satisfied with it.
(There's a report that version 0.2 doesn't work with latest rom (3.223), but I know a user in another forum who says it is working fine for him, so who knows. Either way I'm waiting to see if Gokhanmoral releases kernel 0.3 before I update to rom 3.223).
¿Deodexed?
I've tried to customize the status bar icons with Rom Toolbox, but it complains that this rom is not deodexed (and in fact changing the icons does not work).
But this rom is supposed to be deodexed so, ¿does anybody know why this happens?.

Yes, it's deodexed, except for playstationcertified but that shouldn't matter. I'm not familiar with Rom Toolbox so I can't help you there.

that's an uncurable bug, and i dunno how to solve it forever. but, there is a temporary fix.
flash my kernel, boot up to homescreen. than flash STOCK kernel, boot up to homescreen again. finally, flash my kernel again and you'll be able to connect it again, probably. test this and report, please
add this to the first post plz
