Question on LTE sim and thrill - LG Thrill 4G

Going to pickup a galaxy note on one of my family plan upgrades. Going to have my number transfered to the note sim which is LTE. What happens to my old sim card in the thrill if I don't give it to them? I am keeping the thrill also, and the upgrade # will still be used on my son's non smart phone. If they deactivate the thrill sim, will a LTE sim work in the thrill?
I may just give the thrill to my other son if I can't swap the sim back and forth. Have never had a problem with this phone and really don't want to give it up but, after some hands on time with the note, I just can not see not getting one. It's a beast of a phone and with my big hands it is the perfectly size.
LOL, I digress. Anyone have any insights to the sim questions?

They just turn it off. I got a new sim for my thrill from at&t and they gave me my old sim back. I guess it just doesn't work anymore. But I've never checked it.

Newer sim cards will always be backwards compatible. (In fact, leave the Note IMEI on your line so you have all compatible data gateways as well.)
Infusion Core-A Home Base.

If it's an LTE device, they'll have to give you a new SIM card for it

Yes, was aware of that. The question I had was lte sim being compatible with the thrill. Someone did answer that above. Thank you though.

either a sturdy piece of paper or a thin piece of plastic(like what comes with the cheap screen protectors. trim it to slightly less than the width of the sim slot. slide it under the sim to slightly past half way and hold it there while sliding the sim out. this way the micro sim tray doesnt catch on the pins. easy to do and it wont damage a thing.... just dont force anything...if it doesnt come relative easily then reposition the piece you made till it becomes easy....
btw get yourself a reg 4g sim the microsims arent hspa+ capable from what im told ... unsure on that but my note is faster than my friends that uses the same settings but a micro sim...

Can anyone confirm this? That does not sound good for me. I had planned on using my unlimited Ipad micro sim in my new Note. You think I can get a full size data sim and tell ATT I lost my Micro sim and that I just want cut an existing sim that I already own.
Thank you for the tips. HSPA+ works just fine and is better than the iPhone (signal wise)

Micro SIMs are no different than full-sized SIM cards. HSPA+, LTE, or whatever else works just the same on a micro-SIM as a regular one. However, using a micro-SIM in your SGN is risky. You can really **** up your SIM slot pins.

I have an adapter that I use when I put my ipad sim in my laptop. Now that I dont have an ipad, I think I will try to get ATT to change the sim to full size one. It can be a pain removing sim and adapter. It's truly a pita to get the adapter and sim in and out of my mifi.
actually sims are different...depending how long you have had the sim it could be for the 3g and not set up properly for the 4g and now the lte.... easiest way is to walk into an att with the micro sim and ask if it is a 4g capable one...
i personally know that a sim can make a big difference in speeds as i had an older sim (3g) from an iphart 3gs... i used it in my samsung omnia 2 and it worked ok but hspa+ was never faster... a friend who worked there told me about the new sim cards that they were rolling out that were 4g capable because they were turning on 4g in some markets with the tampa bay area being one of the test areas... it made a huge difference in my omnia but not in a iphart because the iphart is not hspa+ capable...not even the treasured 4s...
as for getting a new sim... they really dont care to give you one and even if you have an i product and you request a full size one, just tell them you use it in a 3gs at times when you travel... they could care less...they arent making a dime off of it so they will give it just to get you gone to get a "paying" customer... plus if they try to charge you tell them tmo will give you a free one... but the corporate stores arent supposed to charge you anyway.....
with the right sim and the right apn you can load just as fast as the att version... i ran mine side by side and both did consistent 14,000 to 18,000 speeds.... and i dont have the att bloatware!!
hope this ramble was helpful ...
My stupid experience!
1. Got my SGN from Singtel, charged over night.
2. Went to China the next morning.
3. Put the China mobile SIM into the SGN, it ask for PIN.
4. Took out my Singtel microSIM from Iphone added the adaptor but SGN indicated no SIM card.
5. Try pulling out the microSIM and TATA I broke the pins.
6. Send it to Samsung China and got to pay RMB300 to replace the pins, phone will be back to me next week.
I still have not use the SGN yet!
I have a question?I accidentally put the micro-sim card in the microSD column. Now,i can't get it off.Can u guyz plz help me give me some suggestions .My phone model is Samsung GT-N7000. Please reply fast.Thank you:

The SIM is there for LTE&GSM service, the Droid4 is an LTE&GSM enabled phone.
Verizon's network isn't GSM though, it is a CDMA phone, so they use the SIM slot for LTE only. You will need to update some CDMA settings, your best bet is to take your phone into a Verizon shop and have them set it up for you!

Not true. The CDMA settings are in the SIM cards too for 4G phones on Verizon. I switch my SIM card between different 4G phones I have and it knows who I am when making calls, texting, 3G and 4G.
But you right, you have to go to Verizon so they can provision a SIM card for your account. Its free and pretty simple to do. After that, no more ESN/MEID swaps!

First upgrade with Sprint - SIM card?

It looks like it has a SIM card, is new to Sprint? I guess it don't matter as no one else uses the same frequency as Sprint. I did not think they had them. Charging the battery now and was wondering how the switchover from the old EVO 4G to the One will go. I saw some popups on the EVO yesterday that looked like they were messing with my account. Was wondering if both phones would work for a time or if I call and activate the new one. I’m guessing call to activate but just thought I’d ask and see.
Found the Sprint Upgrade Instructions. Wish they both had SIM cards I could just swap.
You have to call to activate with sprint unless they have a new automated setup now. *2 is all you need though.
The sim card is specific to just lte its included in all lte CDMA phones now. The activation process only requires the serial number for ur phone, I'd recommend checking on the phone itself instead of the box as some evo lte units came with the wrong box, after u have the number u can call via a different phone or do an online activation

The SIM Card is not just specific to LTE. The Sprint ONE is also a "World Phone" meaning it works for voice and data over seas. Most likely it has been guessed that it has GSM 900/1800mhz capabilities.

It might be a world phone but it could be different between CDMA carriers and GSM carriers

Use New Sim or Not ?

Think this might be in alot of peoples thoughts but is it any beneficial to use the new sim as opposed to the one that were all mainly using previously (Note 3) , I notice this has ISIS support and i even called tmo and they said mainly no difference other then the ISIS support.
I notice like everyone else about signal, The places i would get 4G im reverting back to EDGE.. kind of weird but my lte is solid but gets weaker where i would usually get 4G
I would like to know also. I just inserted the Sim out of the g3
Note 4
I like the ISIS label as it help those overseas. ha!
Someone told me when you get a new phone, you want to start with anything new. So I just call Tmo and tell them the IMEI number. In less then 1 minute, I am using the new SIM card.
I used my old Note 3 sim, which was an ISIS sim already. My speeds are fine. I'll keep the sim that came with the Note 4 as a backup when I go overseas next month, Incase anything happes.

Use the isis one it's there latest & i red somewhere here the newer Sims allows connections to more towers and frequencies
Does the new Sim come pre activated, or do you need to call in and activate it once the phone arrives? I have an existing account for reference.
I had issues with the ISIS one. The functionality for group messages disappeared from the hangouts app. So I went back to the store and they gave me a non ISIS Sim and now everything works flawlessly.

I personally use the one that came with the phone the isis one
What's the disadvantage of using the new Sim card? Takes 2 minutes with customer service.

Nano Sim Adapter - Activation Issue

Hey guys, my N6 is coming on thursday, and I recieved a nano-sim (4ff) from verizon to activate on my old device (galaxy nexus) with an adapter to ensure that it would be ready to swap over when the n6 arrived. I just popped it in and booted the phone and got a message "The Sim Card detected is not compatible with your device, please insert a compatible SIM or visit your nearest Verizon Wireless store..."
There are options to 'use network as is' or 'don't use this network' in the settings. I don't want to mess anything up on my account, did anyone else run into this issue?

Your new SIM is LTE, the GNex is 3g. Try it in an LTE phone if you have one.

I just called customer service, got it activated and calls work but I'm having some data issues. Will report back after a reboot. It could also be ROM related.
Edit: data works!

what did they say was the problem?
not sure, their website says that using adapters is a no go in order to 'provide optimal service', but I told the newest customer service rep that I spoke with that tech support sent me the nano early for an expected new device and that it was okay and it worked. However, we had to add the imei of my gnex because data didn't work initially.
Just came from GNex 2 days ago to N6
I used my micro sim, (LTE) and cut it down with the Aerb sim cutter I bought from Amazon http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009P16FKY/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
It worked flawlessly in cutting the SIM down, just had to sand some minor burrs along the edge with the included sandpaper. Popped the SIM in and has worked perfectly. Texts, phone, LTE everything. The cutter also comes with an adapter that I can use to pop the SIM back into my GNex as backup if I have any problems as well.
As an aside, I had been reading boards for over a month on the size, screen and battery of the N6 being subpar. All of it is baloney. It feels good in the hand, the screen is great (although admittedly not as good as the Note 4), is super fast and I have been getting good battery life as well.

1) is your Nexu6 on Vzw?
2) im sure devs will get the screen temps worked out and get better colors...
Yes, GNex is a VZW only phone. BTW I did order a backup nano SIM from VZW customer service (I heard stores get you varied results) as a backup in case my cut didn't work. I just told them I bought an HTC One M8 from ebay and that I needed a new SIM. They fedex'd it to me an now I have it here as backup also. I just don't need to go through activation with the old micro SIM - merely cut and replace and good to go!
