[Q] Capacitive Button Remap? - Captivate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, the new HTC ICS phones use three capacitive buttons Home, back, and a multitasking button. How would this work in legacy apps that require a menu button? I ask because I would love to have the captivate menu button function as a multitasking button without changing any of the other buttons. Is this possible?

[Q] Is it possible to remap the volume keys for back/forward commands?

I am really happy with the Captivate with the exception of the bottom keys that are selectively responsive...especially the back key which often takes several presses to register just one. Since Android and many of the apps have menu designs that dig down through multiple pages, the back button is the one I use the most, and is seemingly the least responsive of the four, which is frustrating.
Is it possible to remap the side volume keys to use back/forward functions instead? It would really help when backing out of settings that can sometimes be several pages deep.
If this isn't possible, does anyone know if those capacitive buttons can have their sensitivity increased? (I rarely, if ever have issues with the menu and search buttons, it's mostly the back button, and sometimes the home button.)
Thanks!

How do I remap my 3D button to power?

My power button recently broke and after rooting my phone I downloaded button remapper. Sadly, button remapper doesn't work with the 3d button for some odd reason so i was wondering if there was any other way to change it to the power button. Does anyone know how I could do it with Root Explorer or another app?
The reason why the 3D button isn't mapped on that app is because there is only 2 or 3 devices out there (Optimus 3D and Thrill are the same. Then there is the EVO 3D.) with the button.
As for remapping it, I have no clue.
I know how to remap it for the camera button just not the power button.

In app menu button?

quick question, on the One X you could use the multitasking button as a menu button whilst in apps, but surely this isnt possible on the One, as it only has two off screen buttons. will we have to have that annoying grey menu strip when in apps on the One?
Not sure if we will have that menu strip (should be able to turn that off in custom ROMs) but the back button (press-and-hold) doubles up as menu.
allready in work. maybe its done in a couple of hours.

Can the menu button be mapped to one of the capacitive buttons?

I have noticed the 3 button menu button on the bottom that was on the One X. Do you have the ability to map the menu button to one of the capacitive buttons?
Thanks in advance.

Click to collapse
Its possible, but I'm not sure if you have to be rooted to do so. There's already a fix in the Dev section.

Change HW button single press action?

Title says it all, i'm on stock. In the Buttons screen there are options to change long and double press of each hardware button, but not single press. I can change single press action of the home button with nova launcher, i'd like to change single press action of the left capacitive button so it acts as a regular menu button.
Try flar2's Button Mapper app.
All I want is long press on back-hardware key to kill the current app which we can usually find in developer settings. Is it a Nugent thing or stock OOS disable this feature?
I'm coming from a galaxy s3 running CM from about 4 years ago and even then it had simple things like this, i could hold back to kill and also use volume controls to skip track when screen is off, etc. Can't do any of that on this new phone, really frustrating. To remap back and recent apps button using that app you need to upgrade to the pro version
