[ROM] Update (7/23/12) Tweaked Stock BETA 5.0 (3G Only) | Stock ICS | AROMA - Galaxy Tab 7.7 Android Development

(7/23/12) Tweaked Stock for GT-P6800 Version 5.0
This is the BETA release of my tweaked stock ROM, based off of the new XXLQ1 Firmware. It uses AROMA to install the ROM and gives the user quite a bit of choice as to what apps to install. There are also some choices for mods and fonts, but these are limited ATM. I HAVE NOT tested all of the AROMA options in terms of apps and fonts, but there is nothing that will break anything....
This is a BETA release, so please don't flash unless you are willing to accept the risk of some bugs....no screenshots test, as it is stock...
Features
- Based on Official Firmware XXLQ1 (ATO);
- Deodexed,
- Zipaligned,
- AROMA 2.0 Installer;
- Stock kernel,
- Init.d support;
-Removed CPU rendering, full GPU rendering;
- init.d scripts include: RAM management and VM tweaks, zipalign, flash memory performance and more,
- build.prop tweaks for improved screen responsiveness, keeping home app in memory, etc.,
- Most widgets and icons removed from homescreen to make it cleaner and easier to customize (see screenshot),
- Optimized pngs and smali/xml launcher/framework tweaks for a smoother TW experience,
- See change log, in post #2...
Coming Very Soon
- Advanced/extended power menu (debugging now...)
Known Issues
-Homescreen is a bit messy when you first boot, depending on what you install via AROMA.... In the final, I will have all widgets, removed and app shortcuts aligned, so you have a clean slate.
- You tell me....
INSTALLATION
1. Make a Nandroid backup of your current ROM,
2. Download the flashable .zip file you want below,
3. Reboot into clockwork mod recovery,
4. You must flash the XXLQ1 ICS firmware via ODIN/Heimdall before flashing this ROM! Also, a data wipe is strongly recommended before flashing Thanks.
5. Flash the ROM zip in recovery, following the prompts in the AROMA installer (NOTE: on the custom install menu you need to use the volume keys to scroll up and down, working on this...),
6. Let it boot up and then go through the setup wizard,
7. Let the widgets load up and things settle, sync., etc.,
8. Enjoy, and please post bugs in the thread, if any ( "XDA App keeps force closing" is NOT a bug....).
9. If you like the ROM, please hit the thanks button....!

PLEASE NOTE:
This ROM will flash the modem.bin from the ATO firmware. This should not be an issue for users, but I just want you to know...I have it in there for beta testing purposes, and will remove in future releases...
If you use tegrak or some other over-clocking app, or if you restore data with Titanium Backup, please do not post bugs you may have when using those programs. The same goes for restoring system data via Titanium Backup. I cannot debug issues arising from their use.
Thanks/Credits
lowtraxx for helping me with the broken fonts issue...
More to come...
WARNING/DISCLAIMER
As with all custom ROMs, you flash the ROM and any other items linked to in this post or the remainder of this thread at your own risk. I cannot and will not be held responsible for anything that may happen to your phone, others or you as a result of flashing this ROM.

Change Log
Version 3.0--->Version 5.0
[*Initial Release of ICS Version
Version 2.0--->Version 3.0
Went back to XXLA4 base, completely rebuilt, with all apks optimized;
Removed CPU rendering, full GPU rendering;
Added some init.d tweaks to increase ext4 I/O speed,
revamped RAM, priorities, handler and vm tweaks;
incrased sdcard readahead to 2048,
added modded stock launcher from 10.1 that has also been optimized (still not as smooth as TW launcher, IMHO), with smali code altered to work with sqlite version in the firmware;
added back memo and a couple of other apps (Kies, etc.) to lite base;
Other dorky stuff I am sure I forgot...
Final v 1-->version 2.0
Completely rebuilt from newest official firmware DXBL3;
Only one version available (should work over all firmware, but see "Please Note" in OP). This is a "Lite Version";
Made Samsung App flashable zip available for those who want full ROM;
Working HideBar App;
Increased free memory in supercharger script;
Removed TCP tweaks from build.prop;
Redid allanimations in framework and launcher to increase speed/smoothness and reduce lag;
Probably a lot more I forgot...
RC3-->Final
De-symlinked system/app and data/app_s;
Added noatime flash memory tweaks;
added drop caches script to (hopefully) reduce lag in homescreen;
Messed with the animations a bit to speed them up;
More optimizations of Samsung TW apks to at least make them work better (wish I could get rid of them...);
Minor speed and battery tweaks;
More I am sure I forgot...
RC2-->RC3
Changed kernel flash method to improve (hopefully solve) problems with flashing onto some stock firmware;
Fixed app drawer background;
removed some init.d scripts I felt were extraneous;
Speed tweaks (let me know)...
RC1-->RC2
Fixed issue in kernel flash that (I hope) was preventing some users phone to force close/bootloop on startup;
Fixed issues with some apps and games crashing (again,..);
Symlinked /system/app/ to /data/app/ to offload some data on the system partition;
Moved some apps to /data/app so they can be uninstalled;
Adjusted the RAM script settings to be less aggressive, but hopefully just as effective;
tweaked VM settings;
removed some init.d scripts I felt were not adding all that much (make things simpler);
further tinkering with framework to smooth out TW interface. I find that the only noticeable lag now is after closing out a program, there is a fraction of a secon of lag when switching home screens. I hope to remove this by the final release...

Removed Apps & Extras
List of Removed Apps
Again, these can be re-added with the "SamsungApps.zip" in the OP,a will be an option in AROMA next version...
Kies
MobilePrint
Samsung Apps

This will be great
Thanks button for you even I had not yet flash it

Thanks Steve . Been waiting for this

Downloading ...

I will be testing this but I need a copy of a DXLA2 modem to make my own testing consistent vs a purely stock ROM, I dont want the modem file to cause excessive battery drains or what not, I have the single DXLA2 tar file for my P6800 inside it has a file labelled modem.bin can i safely flash that using Odin after I flash to this custom rom ?

Flashed. Smooth and bug-free so far - definitely a step up from the stock. A big thumbs up for the OP
Am eagerly waiting for theme tweaks in particular to the taskbar.

Link is down.

Hi,
Just wondering if you are you planning to do a wifi only (6180) version. There seems to be a lack of love for the non GSM Radio 7.7's out there with not a single rom in the forum.
Thanks a lot.

I think someone is working on one (well, I know he is, but not sure what his plans are for release). I will ask him what's up and then port this ROM if he is not planning on releasing it. It would be better, clearly if someone with the device were to release a ROM for it...
Steve

New DL Link
BTW, I am uploading the ROM to a new site now, PLEASE do not post mirror links of the ROM, as I like to keep track of its traffic...thanks! It will be back up shortly...
Steve

very nice rom, 10x better then stock (hk version) thank you!! Even TW looks lagless.

I got the 6810 first had it a week. Sent it back for 80 dollars more. I decided to get 3g version. Just to have 3g and phone option. I also remember development on orginal tab was most for the 3g version. My advice spend the extra doe.
Sent from my GT-P6800 using XDA Premium HD app

finally got around to releasing it bro. lol. nice. good job!

Thank you for the effort. I tried this ROM with a factory reset. I get an FC on android.phone as soon as it boots, and that causes a reboot. I tried to reflash but it did not work. I am using the 3g international version from Dubai.

I flashed it last night on a 3G 16Gb and performance is noticably better. However one bug - when playing Reckless Racing 2 the game continually pauses itself. It's not dirt on the screen causing it and a reboot didnt help. It doesnt seem to impact any other apps.
Can someone else running this rom please test on Reckless Racing 2? It happens a few times per race.

Hmmm...try wiping everything, data/factory reset, cache partition, dalvik cache, battery stats, etc. The script should do this for you, but maybe something went awry...
If that doesn't work, try redownloading the zip. Finally, PM me, and we can see if we can sort it out...

So the game is actually pausing itself or freezing up. Sorry, just want to be clear. I can run a logcat on this one...as long as the game looks fun.....

Installation Instructions:
1. If you are already running the Voodoo lag fix you MUST disable it before flashing this ROM. If you are running the old lag fix that uses ext2, you do not have to disable it, just flash this rom on top. You can also flash on top of the leaked froyo roms (JP3).
2. Place bionix of your choice onto the root of your internal sdcard.
3. Make a nandroid back up via rom manager or clockwork recovery!
4. You can flash this rom directly through rom manager or manually flash it via clockwork recovery. You DO NOT need to wipe, the update-script does this for you automatically.
5. Once flash is complete,select reboot device. First boot will be slower than usual, give it time.
6. Let your phone boot up completely. Once finished REBOOT your phone ONE TIME!
7. Let boot. FINISHED!
8. If you are using an OCed rom, please download setcpu from market and be SURE to set your minimum clock speed to 200mhz. Otherwise, you may experience random freezes/and or reboots.
9. RECONDITION YOUR BATTERY AFTER FLASHING THIS! INSTRUCTIONS BELOW! Reconditioning your battery will significantly improve your batteries life. However, once re-reconditioned, if you feel you battery life is still not up to par, DO NOT complain about it in the thread. Its not my rom. The battery life you will receive from my rom is about as good as it gets. This phone is a power hog, you need to accept that fact and move on.
Battery Reconditioning:
1. Charge phone completely, leave plugged into power
2. Boot into recovery
3. Wipe battery stats
4. Reboot
5. Remove power cable
6. Drain that sucker all the way
7. Recharge fully
8. Rejoice!"
Bionix FAQ:
1. I'm getting a FC, what do I do?
First, try a simple shutdown and reboot, if the problem still persists, THEN report it in the thread.
2. I'm running an OC kernel and my phone is randomly freezing/rebooting. What's wrong?
Make sure you have setcpu installed and your clocks are set @ 200/1200!
3. I'm not getting puzzle piece notifications, why?
As stated in the OP, we had to replace the TW mms with the stock AOSP 2.1 mms.apk temporarily. We are aware of the issue, but mms DOES work!
4. I flashed the voodoo kernel and it doesn't seem to be enabling, am I doing something wrong?
One of two things may be happening. One, make sure you do not already have the 'disable-voodoo' file in your voodoo folder located on your sdcard. Two, it has been determined that some Vibrants are not able to run voodoo. Try a non-voodoo rom located in the download section.
5. I have my clocks set at 200/1200 but I'm still getting freezes/reboots, why?
Unfortunately, some phones simply cannot handle the OC kernels. You can do one of two things. One, flash bionix 1.7 w/stock kernel. Two, run the OC kernel but set your clocks at 200/1000.
Suggestions:
1. SEARCH SEARCH SEARCH! Before posting a question, please use the 'search this thread' feature which is located at the top of EVERY page. You can simply enter a keyword and all posts regarding that keyword WILL show up. I do not want to hear complaints that there are too many pages to read. I haven't started a new thread because there are a lot of answered questions in this thread.
2. If you are experiencing an issue but find that you are the ONLY one experiencing this issue....well....I hate to say it, but you've probably done something wrong. Not me.
3. If you actually DO have a legitimate problem such as a FC, etc., please, post it. However, posting with a logcat is much more helpful so we can actually pinpoint the problem and fix it. Not all of your issues can be replicated, there for, a logcat is our only means to fix it.
4. If you simply do not like my rom because of the way it looks, or you hate the ring tones, the sounds, the lack of the square icons, etc., PLEASE do not post it! Feel free to find another rom or flash back to stock. Thanks!
5. If you have a request for future releases, please post them and I'll take all requests into consideration. However, DO NOT demand things! Demand will not and will never be taken into consideration.
6. Do not ask for and ETA. I work a full-time job like most of you. I do this for fun, but it is time consuming.
7. Before posting issues, try a simple reboot first. You'd be surprised how many issues this can fix.
How-to Disable the Voodoo Lagfix:
1. Once again, you MUST disable the Voodoo lag fix in order to flash any other rom, kernel, or perform a nandroid backup. If you don't...well....lets just say I warned you.
2. Its simple. Create a folder on the root of your sdcard called 'Voodoo'.
3. Now, open notepad or something similar and save the blank file. Name it 'disable-lagfix'. This file cannot have any file extension, so remove it if it does.
4. Place your blank file into the 'Voodoo' folder you made on your sdcard.
5. In order to disable, simply power down your phone and power it back up.
6. FINISHED! You can now flash anything you'd like!
How-to Confirm Voodoo Lagfix is Disabled:
1. In adb shell or terminal type 'mount'
2. If it is disabled is should read '/dev/block/mmcblk0p2'.
3. If it is not disabled, it will read '/dev/block/mmcblk0p4'.
Enable OCLF EXT2 LagFix: (optional)
Install EXT2 Lagfix via OCLF:
1. Open OCLF
2. Install EXT2 tools
3. Restore boot animation
4. Select OneClickLagFix V2.2
5. Your phone will reboot - DONE!

Yes, it is compatible, however, I wouldn't recommend flashing the current voodoo fix until Jac releases a more stable version. From what I've been reading, its coming soon. As soon as it does, I will upload this rom with the voodoo kernel included.
Downloading now. I'll give you guys my thoughts in a few...
Which baseband is this based upon?
...and it's a kernel damnit, not a kernal.

I'm going to assume (and im pretty confident in this answer) that it is based off the CURRENT baseband and not the leaked one from the other day. Why? Because the OP said that it has support for OCv4, Voodoo etc... the new leaked baseband contains new drivers and therefore it cant support OCv4, Voodoo, etc.
and +1 its Kernel not Kernal.
Sounds good, flashing in 10 mins.
Edit: Looks pretty good, nice and snappy without any lag fixes (never used them on stock fw anyway)
GPS locks in pretty fast, but again I never had any problems with that in stock.
I like all the additions and its nice that all the craps been removed, would've been nice if this was how I got it new.
It did look like it froze while flashing, it basically just stopped updating after "Formatting DATA", eventually some text flew past the screen and it dumped me back into clockwork recovery, rebooted and everything worked.
Start up and shut down sounds are cute.
Just did a reboot and it does startup a lot faster.
nice!
Am flashing right now, seems like a nice rom, im expecting it will support voodoo as well correct? Will report.

This man is correct.
The kernals have been corrected to kernel. haha.
Might I ask which calendar and dialer this uses? I ask becuase it looks like it's mostly TW but I see you modded both frameworks.
Soooo essentially this is what you've put together and like from other roms and mods n upgrades? Or can I download this and expect to see something new from your own editing of framework files and whatnot? Not talking crap in the least just looking for an honest response, will likely flash to just check it out anyhow, always interested to see what other people have as their preferred daily driver.
Booting up now...

Does this incorporate any of the fixes the leaked firmware seems to have addressed? ie: GPS?
Thank you in advance,

Fixed the phone bug
Fixed freezing issues some users were reporting
Zipaligned so many, many times
Removed LG keyboard (would fc)
6.28.11-RC1.2
Added a lot of stability and speed
Definitely fixed phone
Definitely fixed Social Hub
Maybe something else
7.26.11
Updated to JVQ Base
A bunch of other things, will probably try to name everything once it gets out of beta

[I]Can i flash over Voodoo Lagfix?[/I]
Yes, the kernel includes Voodoo lagfix
[I]Can I use the Arabic patch from Simply Honey?[/I]
Yes, it is compatible.
[I]Do I have to be on GB to flash this?[/I]
Yes, that was already mentioned.
[I]Are GB bootloaders fully functional on froyo? What do they do?[/I]
Yes, the GB bootloaders are fully functional on froyo. They remove the rainbows on GB.
[I]Does this have Wi-Fi calling?[/I]
No. we would need a Vibrant-specific leak for that to work.

No, it is very different just look at it, it is very different in the framework the style everything. The only thing is it has some apps from SGSII. It is the same firmware so all the kernels are the same.
Thanks man, this seems to be less congested for some reason...lol
rom seems smooth but.....
can't get a network, ans can't get into call settings in settings.

Thanks just realized I forgot to change the modem to Vibrant one, as for the call settings, IDK, because I can get into it. Maybe you had a bad download.
Can you just create a mirror thru mediafire man all this mirrors suck.
Can I just go ahead and flash from the link that was up..and just flash a modem..or should I wait hopefully I can just flash a vibrant modem of my own
So do we need to flash a modem? Would any vibrant modem work?
Sorry everyone, yes if you already flashed it you can just flash a vibrant modem on top of it.

Well, I like mediafire as well, but some people do not, but what I could do is make mediafire one of the mirrors.

Hey Ali, few questions....
as the first step...
do i ODIN both the "md5 file" with the "JVH_NO_BOOTLOADERS_PDA.tar" at the same time?
is the tar file a GB rom?
if so... after installing the new rom,
do i need to root install CWM and then follow your next step? (factory reset, flash, wipe.....etc)
please advice...Thanks!!!
this is amazing

The JVH_NO_BOOTLOADERS is a GB rom so that you can get on GB, the md5 is the bootloaders so that you will not experience rainbows, you have to be on GB to flash that is why I put that rom, but you do not need the bootloaders. Basically, you can download both files the Rom and the modem and put them on your sd card. Then odin the JVH thing without checking auto-reboot. When it finishes, pull the battery and use three button method to go into recovery. (If you flashed the Bootloaders beforehand you will have a different way to get into recovery. That way is volume down+power and download mode is volume up + power. Go into recovery, and follow the steps but flash the KB5 modem right after you flash the rom, then wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache, and fix permissions. Reboot and enjoy.
Everyone, new version uploaded, now all you have to do is flash the rom, wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache, fix permissions, reboot, do nothing for 15 minutes, and then reboot again, and then you finally you can enjoy...

Actually, on the mediafire thing, I just realized it won't upload to mediafire because mediafire's limit for free users is 200 mb and this file is about 220 mb.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Install HOWTO:
1. Flashing the ROM
1.1 Preparing for flashing
- go to recovery
- wipe /cache, dalvik-cache, battery stats
- flashing this over mik's v6.5.x/6.6.x ROM without wiping /data should work without any problems.
- for any other non-CM7.1 ROM, wiping /data (factory reset) IS required (see FAQ and do not ask retarded questions)
1.2 Flashing the ZIP
- CWM should work just fine
- TWRP - works just fine if you disable signature verification (bug reported quite a few days ago)
- AmonRA - totally untested, definitely disable signature verification, if it does not work, try one of the above.
Quote:
Do not post lame questions about failed signature verification here!!!
1.3 First boot and initial setup
- reboot from recovery
- WAIT! Really, just WAIT!!! Even if it takes 10 minutes, there is no bootloop. Also, as long as the bootanimation is moving, the phone is NOT frozen and is busy populating the dalvik cache etc. Absolutely no need to pull the battery in that case! Once again, WAIT!
- In case you are flashing on a clean phone (/data wiped), you will get the initial setup wizard. If you want to change your language, do it. Tap on the Android picture. Either complete the wizard or skip it. I suggest skipping it, you can add your Google account and set it up just fine after all the setup is finished by tapping on the Market icon.
Quote:
IMPORTANT NOTE: In case you get some lame popup before the initial Android screen asking you to choose between something like "com.google.provisioning" and Setup Wizard, choose the topmost item, do NOT check the checkbox. (It is impossible to take a screenshot of that, so it is NOT shown below.) Follow the prompts. Again, suggest skipping the wizard as soon as possible.
2. Theming the ROM for dummies (picture guide):
2.1 - Lockscreen
After you have finished/skipped the setup wizard, your screen should look like on Picture 1. Go to Settings - CyanogenMod - LockScreen - Style Options. Select Lense as LockscreenStyle and check the Hide rotary arrows. Press Back a couple of times to get back to home screen.
2.2 Wallpaper and status bar transparency - part 1
Hold your finger on the home screen for a while. Select Wallpapers from menu. From the next menu, select Live wallpapers. From the next menu, select MultiPicture Live Wallpaper. On next screen, tap on Settings, go to Common Settings - Picture Source. From the popup menu, choose either Single Picture or Picture Folder. On the prompt, do not forget to check "Use by default for this actions" and tap on MIUI Gallery. Go to wallpapers folder, choose a wallpaper, duh! Press back several times until you get back to the Set wallpaper screen. Tap on Set wallpaper. You are back to your homescreen.
Looks better now, huh? :lol:
2.3 Choosing the theme
Tap the home icon - in the app drawer list until you find Theme Chooser (on the last screen), tap the icon. Tap on Apply button under the MIUI theme. Back to home screen, note the icons in status bar are now changed.
2.4 Status bar transparency - part 2
NOTE: Sorry, this part IS sadly required, I cannot include the patched SystemUI.apk in the ROM, because otherwise there is never any status bar, LOL. Also it causes quite a bit of trouble with the initial setup wizard. NFC. Do not ask me why.
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
Finishing up!!! Press the power button, choose Reboot - Recovery - OK. Wow, the phone rebooted and you are now in recovery! Go to flash ZIP menu, browse to MIUIGEN71/themes/transparent folder and flash the statusbar_patch.zip!
Reboot.
2.5 Finished!!!
NOTE: If you ever get bored by the transparent MIUI theme, you can undo the patch by flashing MIUIGEN71/themes/nontransparent/statusbar_undo.zip from recovery and use any CM7 theme with this ROM. (A black MIUI theme with non-transparent status bar attached here. To revert to the original transparent theme bundled with the ROM, download the transparent theme and do not forget to flash MIUIGEN71/themes/transparent/statusbar_patch.zip from recovery.)
FAQ:
Q: Can I use this with the new baseband?
A: NO!!! Absolutely NOT!
Q: Not even with the mik's patch?! Will data work with that?
A: NO!!! Absolutely NOT!
Q: Are you planning to add support for new baseband?
A: NO!!! Absolutely NOT! It will be supported when/if mik's ROM supports it. I will NOT do anything about baseband.
Q: But... that sucks! I do not want to downgrade baseband?
A: Go use another ROM, such as the stock LG ****! Do not bother asking on this thread about baseband.
Q: Can I flash this over mik's v6.5.x/6.6.x ROM without wiping /data?
A: Yes, it should work without any problems.
Q: Can I flash this over stock ROM, GingerLOL or whatnot else without wiping /data?
A: NO! Do not bother with complaining about crashes and broken things if you do.
Q: Why franco kernel v1.1-24082011? It is unstable for me, I have random crashed, freezes, reboots, battery drains and it even drinks all beer in my fridge overnight!?!
A: Because the kernel works perfectly fine for me. If you get the stuff above, wipe everything (/data, /cache, dalvik-cache, battery stats), tune down your crazy OC (no, this phone will NOT work @1GHz) and enjoy your fast clean stable ROM with great performance!
Q: I still have kernel problems even after a clean flash? What now?
A: Feel free to flash any other franco 2.6.35 kernel if it works better for you. You can report bugs in latest kernel version to franco on his thread. IMPORTANT: Do NOT bother with reporting issues if you are too lazy to provide useful information about your CPU freqs, governor settings, provide logcat etc. and the only thing you plan to do is moaning about crashes, drains etc.
Q: I am having black screen/split screen bug!!! T3h suxxxx!
A: Sucks to be you, I do not have any such problem. Otherwise, turn off the CRT animation (who needs such stuff). If you get a blackscreen, please stop locking/unlocking the screen like mad every one second. Wait a few seconds at least. Also, there is no need to pull the battery or damage the power button by pressing it zillion times, just touch the screen.
Q: I am having battery drain! The ROM and kernel are horrible!
A: No, the junk you have installed is horrible. Grab BetterBatteryStats, find the offending crap and uninstall it.
Q: Battery life still suxxx! Only will last 3 days!
A: Go get a Nokia 5110.
Q: How can I switch to those other bootanimations that are included?
A: Run terminal emulator, then do this:
Code:
$ su
# selectbootanim
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
Q: How can I test the bootanimation without rebooting?
A: Use adb:
Code:
> adb shell bootanimation
Press CTRL+C to terminate it.
Q: When I mount the phone to my PC, the wallpaper I set from SD card gets lost from my home screen/lock screen!
A: Nothing I could do about it. Normally, /sdcard can only be mounted once. When you use the phone as mass storage, it gets unmounted from the phone. Go complain to Google.
Q: But it sucks! I have my phone connected and mounted to PC for the whole day, using it as a thumbstick for playing my p0rn collection!
A: Buy a USB stick for like $10. This is a phone, not a storage for your PC. Or grab something like Root Toolbox from the market and try the dual-mount feature there instead.
Q: When I boot the phone, it takes some time before the background picture appears.
A: It takes a while to get the SD card partition mounted to phone. Go complain to Google.
Q: What are those sysro/sysrw scripts good for?
A: As the name suggests, to remount your system read-only/read-write.
Q: How to I use them?
A: Duh, use the terminal, luke!
Code:
$ su
# sysrw
... (do whatever you want now with files under /system)
# sysro
# exit
$
Q: What is nano?
A: A console-based text editor. If you do not know what it means, you do not use it. RTFM!
Q: How do I set the WiFi Tx power so that it does not needlessly drain battery?
A: Use /system/etc/setwifi.sh script. It sets the value to 20dBm.
Q: Can I change that value?
A: Yes, edit the script. (See nano above.)
Q: Could you include my cool 99zomgmakemyphoneflylikehellubercool tweak?
A: No, sorry. I only include reasonable stuff. This ROM and kernel have excellent performance without any tweaks. Flash those yourself and do not bother with reporting resulting issues here. Will NOT fix them.
So now this ROM is available for our phones too. Good.

Well... This rom have plenty of bugs, and sadly the original developer of this rom is too stubborn to even admit the existance of it...
I think the bugs comes from the mix of having a very very unstable kernel with very awful known bugs and the use of crappy apks which replaces the old good functional apks for only the looks...
Promising stability is impossible.
Bugs I had when I used this... for a month:
(I DID NOT: Overclock, install other tweaks than transparent taskbar)
-Weird battery behaviour (sometimes lasted up to 2 days!; in the worst, just a night)
-Installed apps gets deleted from the menu (but installed in the system, worthless since you cannot access to the app but still uses the memory)
-When the rom gets buggy, it restarts itself with the screen issue... fixed easily, putting the phone to sleep and in the wake, the screen looks normal.
(but the restarting thing was loopy... restarted the phone itself w/o doing nothing for half an hour... I had to pull off the battery and wait some time...)
-The screen resolution was weird also... for some reason the apps looked with less space and for some apps it messed up the original look (like zombiebooth, no big deal tho)
-Buggy Videorecording/ photo taking (problems with the app, and with the codecs of the videos recorded with the cam...)
-The Compass was totally off... (no big deal for me tho, but it's a bug)
-Glitchy look for some apps (like FriendCaster, I read before that it was a bug because of some setting of the kernel... but it's a present bug anyway)
This is not acceptable for calling a rom Stable, the only dealbreakers was the restarting stuff and the battery behaviour, because sometimes I needed the phone and it was dead or looping...

You forgot to mention something.. did you do a clean wipe & install? Some are really bugs. But the battery issue is surely a problem from your side.
Personally if this is Drnotor's rom, there is no problem with me for overclocking or apps. I put dartktremor's app2sd, no problem. With the ungaze's one, not working to update the kernel. Yes there is a bug with the camera, it hangs, there is this option of blast shot or something, whatever. I select this option and then it works fine. I did clean install, then titanium backup, and I stick with the 240811 kernel as the next one did me fast burning battery on 3G. I do many internet and pandora radio and no games. Before this rom I was on void#forever, now I'll wait for andy's rom, but I don't know why people would have a problem with this rom. It's as good as any other, wifi thethering work, usb i don't know but it's enough for me.
Good battery, overclocking available, fast rom, so far so good.

This ROM works well.
Most of the bugs you mention belong to the kernel (if you read the FAQ you'll see that it mentions something like this, "If problems persist try another version of the kernel"). The compass works fine if you've successfully calibrated your. If you did not work, I can only think that your compass is bad and take your phone to a service technician to review it.
If you still continue with "your" problems then you should go to the forum of dr.notor and report back all this, as seeing who is in charge of the subject's ROM here at XDA (no offense) I do not think that this topic be successful...
Off Topic
Sorry if I respond aggressively but I'm tired of seeing every issue of this section of developers (yes, I am not a developer but as I have space to say) many response where blame the people who make these great Kernels or ROM's, without given the time to figure out that **** is for the problem they have, and always the most problems come from users themselves and not the people who develop these things ...
P.S. I don't know how sweattami got to hold this thread, however personally I'd like to see a Thanks to Drnotor in the first post, he did put the rom together after all.

THIS ROM IS A WORK IN PROGRESS. JUST ENLISTING TESTERS AT THE MOMENT.
I wanted to get a solid CWM flashable base ROM together. We shouldn't be entirely dependent on the Ouya updates and Ouya stock recovery.
As the name implies, the goal of this ROM is to provide a solid base that others may build/cook on top of. This ROM isn't supposed to have all the bells and whistles of a Cyanogenmod.
I simply used the stock Ouya ROM from the latest OTA (264) and changed a few things.
Changes:
-added superuser
-added busbox
-added terminal emulator
-changed install_recovery.sh to prevent stock recovery overwrite on boot
-removed recovery-from-boot.p
-changed ro.update_url in build.prop to attempt to disable OTA updates
Bugs so far:
-OTA updates have not been all the way disabled
-superuser and busybox need to be re-implemented properly into the updater-script
Instructions:
-You need CWM Recovery installed to flash this
-Do a backup in CWM before flashing (seriously, you'll have something to go back to if things go awry)
-Wipe cache
-Wipe dalvik cache
-Data wipe is optional (this is alpha, doing the wipe causes an annoying update loop)
Again, this ROM is in testing. It should be considered alpha state. Don't flash it if you are afraid to break something. I'm looking to make it better/more stable through testing.

Good job dude i give try and report
And the time has come! Thank you sir
So I just did an install wiping data, cache, and dalvik. There are definitely bugs to be worked out. The Ouya launcher constantly tries to get an update (verified in data usage in settings). Reboots take me to CWM recovery (where I choose not to run the update). When I boot back into Android the same thing happens. Anyone have an idea about how to disable updates but keep the Ouya launcher? I tried editing the build.prop (see OP), but that didn't seem to work.
They are using a modified version of CMupdater from cyanogenmod source, but I haven't figured out how to disable it yet...
I might need to decompile the Ouyalauncher apk and see if I can find something to disable the updates.

Actually went outside this weekend
Hey reporting had thee most disturbing pleasure of watching After Earth this weekend god help you if you get so unlucky to watch that
But on to better things I installed the rom all was well then started to get random reboots and freeze ups lucky had done a back up but other then that slim quick
Updating to properly install busybox and Superuser.apk.
I'm having some trouble hunting down how to disable the Ouya automatic updates. I deodexed and decompiled the OuyaLauncher.apk and found some references to auto updates, however, I'm unsure what to mess with to prevent updates from occurring.
-Can we prevent the AutoUpdateActivity or AutoUpdateService from being run by the launcher (or replace their behavior with something trivial that does nothing)?
-If we snooped on the ouya's ethernet connection (with tcpdump or wireshark), I wonder if we could see the dns query for the update site. If so, we might be able to simply block by modifying /system/etc/hosts. This wouldn't work if the domain of the updates was the same as the domain of the Ouya store. While an update was downloading, I used netstat to see current connections. I saw two established connections. Did a reverse DNS lookup on the IP addresses and found out they correspond to amazonaws.com. Added "127.0.0.1 amazonaws.com" to the /system/etc/hosts file. The update still started downloading the next time I rebooted. I tried manually going to amazonaws.com in the browser and couldn't connect (as expected). Oh well, it was worth a try.
-Any app developers / smali wizards out there who want to help?
I've included the decompiled OUYALauncher for reference.

The only question is: What is on that ROM new? It just has the Root-Tools which you know from phone flashing. I don't see any reason for that work.

The idea is it's supposed to be a base for other roms to use. Others only have to concentrate on their additional apps and tweaks, not annoying things like preventing updates from annoying the user.
I don't think the OUYA store will work on anything other than a ROM based on stock, so a custom ROM with tweaks and the OUYA store will need to figure this out. I'm personally hoping we get CM 10.1 running, but I also see the value of stock based Roms for the OUYA focused apps from the store.

And I've had phenomenally bad experiences trying to get apps NOT ported to the Ouya working. Real Racer 3 looks gorgeous... But you can't navigate the menus without a touch screen, for example. There's no controller support. If I could figure out which controller button corresponded to a mouse click...
Xeore said:
Since android 4.0.4 , gamez apps should have gamepad support. GTA 3 runs really smooth at OUYA.. I am the only one who got a heavy input lag from controller?

~added a browser cache script (hoping to load browser pages quicker)
~added delay to the larger scripts (to speed up boot times)
Infromation About CrossBreeder-
- This is a new take at Android lag reduction. It's lightweight and won't consume battery. Users have reported drastic improvements in usability and even benchmark scores. It will show noticeable improvements - Android devices from Donut to Froyo to Gingerbread to Honeycomb to ICS and Jellybean.
- This is a combination of 5 different methodologies to reduce Android lag.
- Removal of DNS lag . A lot of the lag in a lot of apps, apart from the GUI lag, is due to slow DNS querying, specially on the mobile network.
- CrossBreeder now runs a caching, parallelising DNS client on the device. So now most of your DNS queries will be served from the cache and if not found, the query will be sent in in round robin fashion to multiple DNS servers including Google DNS, OpenDNS and your home router and the reply will be served to you, hot.
- This speeds up network access and networked apps, like Browsers of course, and Tapatalk, Gmail and thousands of others drastically. And removes a lot of the lag where it was due to DNS querying. This will not increase your network or download speed but pages will load much faster.
- This will future proof your devices as more and more apps start using HTML5 and/or reside completely as web pages or the like.-
I Just thought, there are some great developers in our forum, with great tweaks, geared for their own specific purpose, and i thank them. I HAVE asked for permission to use these tweaks, to make a pack of the best, from the best taking a few of those great tweaks and putting them in one lightweight package. Now , I did NOT create any tweak in this pack. That is why introductions and thanks are in order.
ALL THANKS TO THESE GUYS

Gentlemen- On behalf of the users of this tweak , and every E4GT owner out there.... *BOWS* I thank you....
I am in no way responsible for your equipment, flash at your own risk
Download ComaDose version you prefer, from the downloads section, and put on root of phone
Boot into custom recovery
Flash ComaDose
Reboot to rom (flash stock kernel) or reboot system etc.
This is a .zip file, can be flashed with CWM recovery, put on root of phones storage, boot into recovery & flash.
Issues with repack and new Custom Recovery kernels-
Now Ive heard it works for some people on repacks, and ive heard of battery drain, and GPS taking along time to lock on others. But the best results i get, are out of the "stock" Leak kernels.
Conflicting issues with new Custom Recovery modded and released updated version

Test Init.d With The "21 Test-init.d" script
-THINGS YOU NEED-
Rom Toolbox (free or pro)
Root Access (superuser access) for Rom Toolbox
ComaDose Already Flashed
-Steps-
After ComaDose flash, if you want to check if your init.d is functioning properly you can check it with the 21 test init.d script...
After flash the test init.d script has already ran (on startup) now thwe sole purpose of this script is to show whether or not init.d
is properly functioning.
When this script is ran (executed) as all scripts in init.d are upon startup, it creates a file in the /data folder.
so why dont we take a look for it?
Using Rom Toolbox, go to the "root browser" tab (upon first startup youll be prompted to SuperUser permissions, Allow this)
Once in Root Browser youll be in the root of your device by default. ( / )
Click on the "Data" folder..
In the /Data folder, were looking for "Exit Only Init.d" file
if you see this file, your init.d is working and all scripts are running ...
If you dont see this file after reboot (post flash) you can execute the "21 test Init " script manually...
back out to the root of the phone, go into "system", then into "etc" then into the "init.d" folder and locate the "21_testinit.d" script, press on it , bringing up this menu.
press the "open as" tab, bringing up this menu...
then press the "script file" option..
Then you want to press the "execute Script" option, making sure the "execute as root option is checked, as shown below.
which will then execute the script using init.d support to do so.. looking like this
after its executed, go back into /data and find the "Exit Only Init.d" file if its there your init.d is working.....
Awesome!

This Mod is NOT Kernel specific. its init.d scripts, a few extras like gps.conf files , this is great on battery makes phone sleep like a baby, (depending on what you have running , obviously) now with the added Crossbreeder it give it a nice snappy response aswell

I would uninstall the current Cbreeder , then reflash ComaDose, better to start fresh. that way nothing being conflicted, or written over.. etc.
So I take it stock mf9 kernel wouldn't actually work where it doesn't support initd or does this add that ability

this pushes init.d support my friend.
If your unsure if your devices Init.d support is functioning there is a script in the /etc /init.d folder called 21_testinitd after flash, go to /data look for a FILE not folder, exit_only-initd. if its there your init.d - busy box is working...
:good: :good:
