Sensation XL Vanilla rom - HTC Sensation XL

hi guys,
i just got a htc sensation xl and was looking for a vanilla stock rom for it - ie no carrier bloatware. no carrier start up screenn etc.
i have tried to search all over however i cant seem to find one. I am happy to root and try a custom rom if its better and could possibly speed the phone up a bit.
Also is there a way to remove sense? and have the look of ICS?
thanks
Should have mentioned that the phone was purchased from Vodafone Australia

This is dev thread not general or Q&A. Try WRE 1.5 as its vanilla ICS without sense. Didn't search that hard seeing we only have a handful of roms

[Q] What rom is available for me?

I was wondering if there was a difference when it comes to roms depending on what my provider is and what os I'm currently using
HTC Incredible S Virgin mobile
Android 2.2.1 Rooted CWM
I don't know if there's anything else that matters when it comes to installing a custom rom. I've been to a few sites but when I look under which phones are supported I see the HTC Incredible and the HTC Incredible 2. I wasn't too sure if I should proceed with installing anyway given that the Incredible s is still and HTC incredible but I am hoping that someone can clear this up for me.

Do not, under any circumstances, install a ROM that's meant for the Incredible or the Incredible 2. They won't work. Use only the Incredible S ROMs on this forum. Your network provider is not important as far as custom ROMs are concerned, they'll work on any network.
If you wish to install a custom ROM you will also need to install a new radio, as the radio on your current ROM won't work due to the fact that it's FroYo (2.2.1) and all the custom ROMs are built on Gingerbread (2.3.3/4). There are tutorials for doing this on the Incredible S Android Development forum, make sure you follow instructions carefully. ROM makers will often mention in their posts which radio is recommended for their ROM, or if not you can just ask them!

New Phone for Christmas, help & advice needed PLS!

HI all, long time no post! Hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas & a wonderful new year!
Right, I need your help forum, I'm getting a brand spanking new HTC Sensation XE for christmas, and I want to be ready to get to work on it ASAP!
A few questions:
1) How can I backup the whole ROM in its brand new state so I can restore the original software should I need to for warranty purposes? I remember way back I was able to do this to my Desire!
2) How easy is it to root & S-off? (I've had successes in the past rooting & S-Off'ing my old Desires)
3) Please can you provide me links for the relevant pages, link to S-OFF, Root, Backup whole phone & the ROM listings please?
thanks all & I hope to hear from you all soon
Arty.

I posted here as there are only 2 Sensation forums, the standard Sensation & the Sensation XL, and being as the XE is newer than the original Sensation, it should be more like the XL than XE, but yeah I shall also post there too.

Actually not, the XE is more likely to the Original Sensation as they have the same design, the only thing is different is that XE has Beats Audio and 1.5Ghz Dual Core CPU and Sensation has 1.2Ghz Dual Core CPU

its ok mate. all you need is in the sensation forum as no actual XE forum as joined with sensation. you will need to follow instructions to root the phone and visit alpha rev site to get s-off info. rooting procedure is all explained in the sensation forum. good luck mate...........
1. once recovery is flashed then can back up your rom there
2. not sure if s-off is available for XE but it is for sensation and they are very similar phones. think super cid also works for XE so can flash any stock rom if stuck
3. sensation XE forum is joint with Sensation so look in there

Xe is sensation just higher CPU clock, and beats native in the xe Rom, sensation roms work on sensation xe also. Rcmix for sensation works on sensation xe also, if you want some ice cream, sadly I have not had luck with it on xl yet, looks like we might need a kernel there

Thanks capychimp for your reply, on Christmas Day too!
To be honest, I'd rather hack away at the same software version that's already on it, which is why I asked if there was anyway to Nandroid backup the fone before its been rooted? I remember way back there was a post on how to do this with the Desire when I first got mine which actually worked!
So I still require the following information:
** links or tutorials on how to backup unrooted phone software
** links or tuts for S-OFF'ing & rooting
** link for site that hosts RUU ROMS (like shipped-roms.com for Desire)
Yeah I think thats it for now! I will be getting the phone by this Friday, so would appreciate any or all the above info ASAP!
Thanks, I know this is a big ask, and I cant wait to be dissecting Android ROM's again!

BUMP anyone pls?
As far as I know you can't get S-OFF yet. But as far as the rest of your questions go, just look in the forum all the answers are there...
Nandroid without root requires a modified recovery which we dont have so any non root backup for now could be done with Mybackup Pro or Titanium Backup
no S-Off for now
root guide & RUU are in the same forum you posted this thread ....

You are better off looking at this FORUM for the Sensation and the Sensation XE, there are more posts and Roms on there. The forum you have posted in is for a Different Model of Sensation.

I said what I did because there is a couple of posts earlier in this thread telling you that you're posting in the wrong place and you acknowledged that. Then you continued to ask for help in this thread and your questions weren't about development they were about you asking where to find the tutorials for rooting, s-off etc which should've been asked in the General section... I don't have a problem and I don't want any arguments, I'm just trying to keep the section clean so people can find help easily...

Sorry, wrong link..
theres already lot of ics development for sensation u can check by going to sensation development page.

Still waiting for ICS.!

Hi, my XL is unbranded from India and I haven't seen any update yet..
Software 1.24.720.2 CID = HTC_038
I have rebooted my phone many times.
Anyone with the same problem ??
Thanks.
Any help or idea ???????
I guess till end of June you will get it.....just assuming
im from malaysia
still not getting the official
ics
The update rolls out in batches, don't expect to get it.straight away, just because other users are. Be patient, or if you really want it so bad, root your phone and install a custom ROM, or run an RUU.

OK now i am getting impatient... My XL has an original Indian ROM version 1.24.720.2 CID=htc_038,, What happen if I install a ROM from another region ??
For example can I use this one?
RUU_RUNNYMEDE_ICS_35_S_HTC_Europe_2.31.401.2_Radio _20.70.30.0832U_3831.16.00.16_M_release_258303_sig ned.exe - 432.8 MB
Thanks..

how can my new XL get root in 4.0.3

hi everyone
recently i have bought a new sensation xl and it's updated to android 4.0.3 and htc sense 3.6
and i just want to delete the unnecessary apps build in my phone internally. so i decided to root ( i dunno what's the difference between s-off and root ) but i dun want to flash a new rom as my old phone desire s was bricked to burn the chip.
so is 4.0.3 possible to root and anyone would like to give a tutorial kindly?

FFS use the search button and do just a little bit of reading before asking questions like this.... Every forum I've been on has a tutorial on how to do just about anything you want to that particular phone. If you'd have looked you would have found the answer without having to post a new thread in the 'development section' and like anonymous_1997 said this is the development section, what has your post got to do with development.
Learn to post in the right section and learn to read the current threads because the answers are in there... what you have done is just plain lazy
sorry
i really did searched and i found there are root tutorial but seems no 4.0.3 case.
i afraid it'd be different to root in 4.0.3.
so sorry about this

Ics root is the most easy.. if you on 1.28 hboot.. just go to unlimited.io and flash recovery from there.. reboot to recovery.. and flash root zip from 3 musketeer thread.. or just go to chainfire website.. and it done..
