When ice cream sandwich will be out, will HTC roll out the update to the IS also?
Or only the sensation is going to enjoy the new OS?
No one has said anything about any device, it is far to early to speculate

I didnt mean to say that the sensation is built on ice cream. I meant that because sensation is the 1st dual core phone of HTC and ofcourse their flagship phone, then i was asking if when ice cream is out, HTC will update the sensation with it and not their other devices also

Ah righto
Yeah I think they will definitely update it, how long it might take is the real question. Will it be quick or not

f the Nexus S gets Ice Cream Sandwich, which it will, I'm pretty sure the Incredible S will get Ice Cream Sandwich since they have similar specs.
I wouldn't even think about Ice Cream Sandwhich when HTC hasn't even pushed out Gingerbread to all the Incredible S's.
only time will tell, HTC's gone slow.
If anything, HTC is faster than it used to be. I waited 8 months for a 2.1 update on my Hero from the first announcement to actual delivery. It's been less that half that for the IS.

Does anyone know if there has been any news about ICS and the IS?
I am hoping that the update might fix my random reboot problem I have with my IS
Even if HTC doesn't give official support for it (Ice Cream Sandwhich), 3rd party developers such as CyanogenMod would probably port it over. Since the Nexus S will surely get the OTA update, it's a good guess that the Incredible S would be able to run it as well.
My $0,02.
There is no way in hell we'll get ics, these phones were never designed to run anything over gb and sense 3.0. From what we've seen from our development teams it will be ported over from another handset providing that something with similar specs gets the update.

I dont understand why you would wait 8 months for HTC to release the update when you can get now?
HTC IS is still on 2.3.3 and why hasn't it been updated to 2.3.7?

Well I can't talk on the behalf of HTC, but I can only say that I wasn't the one waiting for them... I'm rockin' on 2.3.7
And plan to be rockin' on 4.0 when the time comes

I thought that the android updates were like the IOS ones where they added features and patched bugs. So you should be on the latest firmware?

It doesn't really work like that..
2. 3.7 was mostly about adding nfc chip capabilities
are you trying to jump infront of time with a time machine? even nexus prime hasn't been announced yet and now you're already wanting to know whether incredible s gets ICS.
take a chill pill, we'll all know when time comes.
I've been with HTC device since 2001 (my old Wallaby....), but I'm really annoyed by HTC behaviour: instead of releasing a phone once a week they should really take care and support their devices and their customer.
I became very lazy and I haven't yet installed a custom rom on my IS (yet), but thanx God, there are people like the CyanogenMod team that helps us keeping our devices up to date.
Thanx folks.
I do not think the problem is whether the device was designed for ICS or not. It's just too expensive to build, test and support all the devices they are putting into the market.
Regards,
I don't know why people are moaning so much, what other phones have official ICS right now? That's right, just one.
Have patience, HTC are one of the better companies with regards to updates. Samsung are terrible.

No ICS for us in the first wave

HTC knows how excited our fans are to get their hands on Google's latest version of Android, Ice Cream Sandwich, so we're thrilled today to announce the first wave of HTC phones that will receive upgrades: We can confirm the brand new HTC Vivid is upgradeable to Ice Cream Sandwich. In addition, Ice Cream Sandwich is coming in early 2012 to a variety of devices including the HTC Sensation, HTC Sensation XL and HTC Sensation XE, as well as the HTC Rezound, HTC EVO 3D, HTC EVO Design 4G and HTC Amaze 4G through close integration with our carrier partners. We're continuing to assess our product portfolio, so stay tuned for more updates on device upgrades, timing and other details about HTC and Ice Cream Sandwich.
Well, I would be happy with sense 3.0 and gingerb 2.3.5. for the time being. That should be here pretty soon according to Mr O'brian.
Hope we get it before christmas.

I'm not so sure about that too. All resources will go to ICS and newer models. We are done.
CM looks to be the only team supporting our phone
Are all of those phones dual-core?
My guess is that HTC was under some pressure to make an announcement since other manufacturers had made more definitive announcements. So HTC announced these phones would get ICS (which were the easy decisions) while giving themselves more time to think about their other phones. I would be suprised if one of HTC's single-core phones does not eventually get ICS.

No they won't drop us this soon...
I guarantee that much.
i won't be surprised if we don't get ics, officially, since the phone isn't too high on the htc totem pole.
if we are indeed on their radar for the upgrade, I think it will be much later, so don't hold your breath. remember, we don't even have gb 2.3.5 for this phone. why get your hopes up with ics?
I emailed HTC support team and asked if the incredible S is going to get updated in ICS they replied yes but they cannot confirm the exact date.

HTC confirmed ICS for Sensation(s) phones

Source is from Engadget.com & Credit goes to: Whizpr
http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/02/htc-sensation-puts-on-a-white-ice-coat-to-match-its-ice-cream-sa/
I read this during lunch hour and I think it will be great to share with others.
HTC reports they are now confirmed to be delivering ICS to old/new HTC devices. I'm sure Sensation XL is one of them!
You may have already moved on to more Amaze-ing HTC phones, but there's nothing like a new coat of paint to rekindle consumer interest in its older, less Sensational offerings. And so, the handset that ushered in Sense 3.0 and its signature lockscreen is getting a visual refresh and a belly full of Google's latest mobile OS, just not at the same time. A release from Dutch PR firm Whizpr has that handset, newly encased in a White Ice-colored unibody, pegged for a March 1st release overseas running Ice Cream Sandwich. No mention was made as to whether the device would actually ship with the new UI onboard or if it'll bear the marks of Sense 4.0, but knowing the company, you can likely count on it. For the rest of you current Sensation owners, don't despair, an OTA update keeping that O.G. handset up-to-speed should be on the way "soon."

Update: HTC reached out to let us know that this white ice Sensation will actually ship with Android 2.3 Gingerbread out of the box. A planned update to Ice Cream Sandwich is still on track for some time early this year.

ota ics

any news about it,or the release date
no date mate as far as I know... I think even htc don't know when they are going to release it haha I asked them by email last week and the answer was ''should be coming this month'' but as we know for htc ''this month'' means end of the month if not next month or next year really fed up of waiting and checking for this update which is going to be not a big deal anyway. We will only get sense 3.6 and some graphical changes.....everybody who had the normal sensation and sensation xe was so exited to get it and after the update so many people said that they are disappointed....anyway it will be coming soon I hope
Even the Sony and SGS 2 are getting it now.....really i think that will be my last HTC.....empty promises, bad new flagman's ....

This does not disprove updates are rolling out as we speak. Rather, it speaks of different times & rates of distribution. Tigre72 could actually be right ...
