Trying to find out if I have a bugged mini sd - LG Optimus Black

The original mini SD that came with my OB is a 4gb class 4.
As soon as I had a good amount of files in it (about 2gb) it started corrupting files, faiing to be recognized, causing the OB to crash freeze when I tried to do simple tasks, like going on the SD settings and such.
Now I have been using a 1gb mini SD (no idea wich class) and it has been working brilliantly.
What I want to know is, up to how many gb can I go with a new mini SD, are there any brands that aren't compatible, and in case I don't find or can't aford a class 8 or 10 mini SD, what would be my best course of action?
Thanks in advance.

[Q] Seems like external SD card is broken?

So, I purchased 8GB SanDisc micro SD card 4-5 months ago and it started to acting weird. When browsing pictures, some pictures have glitches meaning half picture is bluish and half greenish, sometimes redish.
Disconnecting and connecting SD card solves the problem but after several days problem continues. Few days ago I received message that my SD card is broken and it needs to be formatted. I formatted it and it worked 2-3 days and then again started to act weird.
Is my SD card broken or maybe it is phone? Someone else with such experience?
Thanks.
Same story here. This has happened with 2 out of 3 cards i have owned.

Really strange. It is important to detect are there really broken SD cards or our phones make bad SD card under some conditions/roots/ROMs. Hmmm....
First: when you will have such message, remove it and try to access it on PC. If it will work on PC - then it is the phone problem.
If not... well, where have you purchased it? SanDisc cards are covered by Lifetime Warranty, and thing what you have to do is to make claim.
Of course, if you have bought it for bargain price on eBay from China, then...
Thanks. I bought it in Mediamarkt, regular store for IT accessories. I will make a claim if this problem repeat.
I had the same problem with 16GB sandisk card so replaced it (JB hifi - reliable Aus store who replaced it for free). Same prob with new card though. both cards reformatted many times but still no joy.
photos taken with phone cam and saved to int SD no problem, but every so often if saved to ext SD the glitch occurs. Photos taken with a digicam then transferred to SD same prob - randomly in gallery won't show some photos properly.
Also discovered that videos made on pc (like clips from films my son likes) but put on ext SD often don't play well or stop before end of clip - no problem if saved to int SD.
I figured it was a bug with the SGS in dealing with files on ext SD - super annoying but have basically accepted it as can't find anyway to fix it!
FYI Recuva is a great program to retrieve lost files

forgot to mention that on my phone, it only seems that photos or videos are affected by this glitch.
I have mp3 files, homemade ringtones and word docs on the ext SD and so far (touch wood) haven't had any problems with using them or viewing them etc.
DoctorV, exact my story. I am assuming that problem is in SGS, although I tried Sandisc 4GB card and 3 days without problems. As soon as I put back Sandisc 8GB, problems started. Very strange and annoying.

Interesting - wonder if it has anything to do with the size of the SD card then? From memory my 2nd 16GB card had no problem for 3 or 4 days too before the issue happened again. Let us know if your 4GB continues to do ok - I may try a smaller card if yours seems to work ok.
thanks
I had 8G SanDisk - no problem for 3 mths, when I replaced it with Sandisk 16G. both were class 6. the second one - 4mths in sgs now - no problem at all.
@doktorV you, in australia, are too close to China, you know
Additional question: which gallery viewer are you using? Both, you that have problems with SD card and you that never had problems with SD card?
I noticed that in QuickPic I picked picture, picture is opened with errors (strange colors or even 3/4 picture is missing) and when I open same picture in stock gallery viewer few minutes later, everything is fine. After opening same picture in QuickPic, it is OK.
After 1-2 hours problem repeats. It is really seems like SW problem and not problem with SD card. Don't know...
I dont know if there is still some activity here..
My sd-card (lexar 8gb SDhc ) is recognized by pc and phone.. after insert it scans.. scan is ok. then a few second - minutes is says sd card is broken and needs to be formatted after format it goes to scan scan ok ... and again broken repeat....
is this a problem with my sd card ? does it matter if its an regular SD or an SDhc ?
and when I format in on pc in wich sort should it be ? stock of ext3 ? or anything like that ?
since im on custom rom now I can format it in my phone ( darknight 4.0.4, when I click format sd card it formats the wrong sd card so I cant use this option )
but its not in the custom rom, had the phone on stock 2.3.6 and the same problem was there. ( also on stock 2.3.3 same problem )
Can I conclude this actually is a '' broken card '' or can I change the settings and make it work ?
thanks in front....

[Q] SD Apps Problem

Hi I've been using the note for a month and half now. And I like manageing someo f my apps. So a while ago I've issued some problems with Apps on the SD card.
So the issue is when the smartphone is accessing the SD card. Normally the issue can be recreated by moving more than 1 app to SD at the same time. This issue is also returning when installing 2 or more apps at the same time on the SD. When I had this issue I said okay, no problem I'll move my apps to my internal storage. But now with the nice Google 0,10cent deals, it's getting hard not to resist to put some Apps on the SD.
The problem with the issue is that it's rebooting every time. Anyone had any issues? I'm using a class 10 Samsung 32gb miniSD card. Also my note is on stock and update to 2.3.6.
So I was wondering if someone had any idea how to resolve this issue? I've read about the Samsung Galaxy S2 having the same problem. But didn't find a solution yet.
BTW, can anyone explain when the note is saying it has 2GB system storage and 21,2GB USB storage (when I view files on SD) and where can I see my SD storage + why does it still use USB storage when I move a file to SD?
Thank you for your answers, sorry the Galaxy Note is my first Android! But I've enjoying every step of the way !

[Q]Galaxy note apps to SD not recognizing Built in SD Card, Phone rebooting itself

Hello,
I have a Samsung galaxy note with 30GB internal space, when I try moving apps to the built in internal space it says there is no SD card on your phone.
I then purchased another SD card of 30GB, The Samsung galaxy note then recognize it, but when I move apps to the external drive the phone keeps rebooting itself, which is a nightmare. When I remove the SD card from the phone the phone is functioning well. Thought SD card was the problem purchased another card same problem.
My question is, why am I not able to move apps to the built in memory card on Galaxy note, why is galaxy note not able to recognize the built in SD card.
My other question is why is the phone rebooting itself when apps are moved to external drive.
This is a very serious bug and Samsung should find a solution to it.
Its a shame though that the Samsung galaxy note has this problems
How can this problem be fixed?
What ROM / Kernel are you using? I've moved apps to SD without issue.
I have had problems with a cheap 32GB card (I think it is really a 16GB and misreports as 32GB) - as another poster here said - buy cheap and you buy twice!
Do you have another microSD you can use? Even a 4GB or so - that way you can test again.
How can I move apps to Built in SD Drive of 32GB on Samsung Galaxy Galaxy Note
Galaxy GT-N7000, android version 2.3.6, Baseband version N7000XXXLB2, Kernel Version 2.6.35.7-N7000XXLC1-CL1003701 [email protected] #2,
I’ve used 3 different SD cards one 15G and two 32GB samsung Electronics MICROSDHC 32GB(CLASS 10) all with same problem of phone rebooting when apps are moved to SD card. I also have 2 galaxy note one 15GB and the other 32GB, both have same problem, this cannot be a coincidence. ( I have about over 400 apps)
If I am able to move the apps to the built in drive of 32GB this could solve the problem. How can I move apps to the built in SD card of 32GB, is there any app that can do this? Apps2SD cannot recognize the built in Card. I also contacted the developer of apps2SD regarding this problem, he said it’s a Samsung galaxy note BUG that I should contact manufacturer and also referred me to XDA for quick solution.
It’s a night mare when such an expensive phone starts rebooting itself and heating up the phone
400 apps sounds like a lot to me. Are you sure one of them is not getting in the way?
Do you have access to Titanium backup and Better Battery Stats? These will help you find if there are any programs that are hogging processor or running in the background, use TB to freeze the app then see if your phone is back to normal.

Question about increasing storage please

Hi can someone tell me if my note 4 already comes w SD card? I'm out of storage all of a sudden and not sure what or if or what kind of card to buy. Will this mame the phone faster. So slow lately.
Also, if I do buy one not sure size, brand, etc.
Thanks guys
No, the note 4 does not come with an external SD card. It has 32gb of internal storage and if you filled that up then you will have to buy an external SD card. Just buy either a 16 or 32 or hell even a 64gb SD card....brand wise I guess San disk that's what mine is and I've never had issues with any of mine.
The Note 4 supports SD cards. You'd have to buy one that suites your needs.
On another note, have you tried clearing your cache? Checking out what is taking up all your memory? Might want to check these first.
Note for does support SD card. I have a 128gb SD card on my note 4 that works like a charm.

Samsung is known to have problem with sandisk cards. For peace of mind stay with samsung brand of sd cards. Putting card in phone wont solve your problem instantly. You will need to do some work first. Move all your pictures, videos and music to sd card to offload internal storage. Use aplication manager and move some of yours apps to sd card. Setup your canera aplication to use sd card while taking pictures. Use Smart Manager to clean unnecessary files.
Thread moved to proper forum.

How to move apps to SD?

I already set camera app to save photos and videos to external SD but, since I have many apps installed in my XZ1c, I'm running low on internal storage (I'm constantly struggling with about 30Gb used, 2Gb free).
Unfortunately, afaik, there is no way to move apps to external SD without rooting the phone and, although I've a good general background with computers, I'm a newbie in rooting / modding smartphones.
So I'd like to root the phone just to be able to move apps to SD with the minimum possible effort and risk.
What the way to go?
Do you have TWRP Recovery installed?
No at the moment I made nothing.
I was reading about TWRP (I didn't know about it, I told I am a newbie!) right now.
My problem is I'm afraid of any modification...
Best to keep the OS and apps on internal memory as it's faster than the SD card.
Use the SD card as a data drive.
30 gb is barely enough; minimum for me is 128 gb but more is always better. A micro SD card is a mandatory hardware requirement for me.
2 gb headroom is cutting it real close... looks like you're getting near upgrade time.
I would move to SD only unimportant apps, that I don't need being fast and reliable, keeping all relevant apps in internal memory.
The problem is there is not a phone around like the legendary XZ1c, so powerful and compact. Only comparable phone that I could find is Galaxy S10e (but considering the price it's not worth the upgrade)
However using an external SD for media, 32Gb of internal memory would be enough to me, IF ONLY I could save a handful of Gb by moving the unimportant apps to SD.

I hear you. The easiest solution is to just deep six those rarely used apps.
You can preserve them on the SD card for easy reload with ApkExport.
You can also set the main apps that are being actively used to use the SD card for their data storage.
Can someone please confirm Link2SD can move apps to SD card on a rooted XZ1 Compact?
