[Q] Why My Note is always Awake? - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Dear All,
here is my Note 2.3.6 stock rom with Franco #6 kernel Battery usage (in pic 1&2)
It shows that my note was awake mostly all the time although as you can see from the pic that the phone screen is off most of the time (almost did not use it that day)

1-is this because I was leaving the wifi on most the time?
Edit: I turned the wifi before sleep and after 6 hours I found the phone was awake all the 6 hours and sygic was off
this an old pic (couple of days before) and you can see my wifi was on all the time while the phone was not awake most of the time
2- Why my signal bar in pic is yellow and not green as usual?
and in pic 2 here is my apps, so which one caused this awake?
Final results after long day of asking, getting help from replies here, reading and trying, everything is fixed after doing restart

Don't keep your WiFi and GPS (Sygic) on all the time. Looks like that's what's stopping your Note from going to sleep.

Don't know if this is an actual fix, but what I discovered is that turning the screen off by pressing the 'Power' button on the side helps tremendously in preserving my battery life. If I just let the screen time out, my battery gets drained big time.
This may/may not work for you, but it's worth a shot...
(EDIT: This still holds true even when I keep my wi-fi on)

thank you to all who replied here, the main thread is updated , please read it

Well both old and recent screenshots show the same battery drain and quite similar usage, they lasted for a day and a couple hours.. I think it's a glitch in the system info.
Had a problem a week ago with heavy battery drain in a quite similar manner and I can guarantee that if the phone didn't entered sleep mode it wouldn't even last those 24hrs.

do you mean that the phone entered deep sleep but the results are not correct or not true?
I have also CPU Spy and it shows that my phone did not enter deep sleep during the last 30 hours (or more)

try uninstalling Sygic.

Also, Voice talk has the option to be ready all the time, by "Hi galaxy" command, try disabling that.

Sometimes I get this issue, and I can tell within the first 3% of my phone's battery dropping. The first thing I do is a battery pull, that fixes it.
if that doesn't work it must be a setting or an application.
EDIT: from your usage, it seems that your phone isn't going to sleep. Try an app called Badass Battery Monitor from the market. It will show what apps are using your battery life. link here: Badass battery monitor
Try deleting some recently installed apps.

I had the same problem. First couple of days I got way more than a day and after that it got like my two year old Droid; It sucked.
Turned out that K9 was a battery hog and drained the battery for about 30 percent. Threw it out (though you can also do some adjustments to it) and got my old battery life back. Have a look at the stats to see what is taking up your battery and try to find a solution.
There's something preventing your phone from going to deep sleep. Take a look at 'Awake' and 'Screen On' lines at the bottom of your screenshot:
The right hand side of those two lines are as it should be - the phone is awake when the screen is on.
But the left hand side is wrong - your phone is awake with no screen on (meaning no user activity). Could be a rogue app running in the background and consuming battery juice. Why don't you investigate what you have installed in the past couple of weeks and see if some app is misbehaving.
Also, your WiFi is constantly on (look at the continuous fat line at the bottom). You'd do well to switch it off when not needed, or set WiFi sleeping policy in Settings/Wireless and Network/Wi-Fi Settings/(hit Menu button once inside)Advanced/Wi-Fi sleep policy.
Hope this helps.
I had exact same problem. I tested by removing recently installed apps until I found the culprit. Turned out to be Google+ in my case. Once removed battery was back to normal.
Some more tips on prolonging your battery life:
1. Flash and test different kernels in case of battery drain. Some are easier on your battery than the others.
2. Use Titanium Backup to freeze or uninstall crapware. This list is a useful guide as to what can/can't be removed from your system: https://spreadsheets.google.com/spr...SENVeXlqUm5vV0E&single=true&gid=0&output=html
3. Set Brightness to low value, disable autobrightness
4. Disable or scale down vibration and haptic feedback
5. Don't let your accounts sync automatically
6. Set screen timeout to 15 seconds
7. Disable fast dormancy (dial *#9900# and do it from there)
8. Don't keep your WiFi/Packet Data on all the time
9. Disable location services via wireless networks - are you travelling that fast that you need those?
10. GPS is heavy on the battery, therefore use it sparingly
Folks I followed some of these tips and this its the battery life I an getting on checkrom v5. Better than my old captivate....

I can't see a good reason for disabling autobrightness... in my opinion this option saves more power (in the long run indeed!) than its backgroundprocess will cost.

Sudden battery drop

Does anyone have an idea as to what happened to my battery here? I'm thinking faulty battery unless someone has seen this before?

Does this happen often???
Cuz im facing the similar problem but for me .....gigantic battery drops occur after i resart the phone.......may be we should change our KERNEL. I heard hydracore is gr8
I wouldnt say its your battery, If you look at the blue lines below you will see that there is a big gap when screen is off, Yet the phone is waking up many many times whilst the screen is off.
This says to me that there is an app causing your phone to not enter deep sleep. Your best bet would be to install Better Battery Stats (free on XDA, Paid on Play store) and/or Watchdog lite.
this will tell you which apps and proccesses are using more power than needed. Then you can take action from there.
Battery drain is an issue for most android users, and has millions of possible causes, so elimination is key to finding the culprit.
ofcourse.. this is happening because of wakelocks... power off the phone. remove the battery for a minute and pack it up again boot into recovery.. wipe battery stats and check again

It's only happened this once. And I think the vertical line suggests it was during a reboot?
I've dealt with wakelocks before but never seen this. I'll have a look with betterbatterystats to see for those wake events.

I'll give this a go.
This occured to me on XXLSA Jelly bean, after researching, I found it is due to media scanner running for long time
I used Rescan media root app from play store to disable media scanner and this didn't happen again
It is worth noting that this problem would NEVER happen in CM-based ROMs - Huge battery life!
Hmm I've been running CM10 since the nightlies first appeared and tbh, whether on original battery or gold battery or my extended battery, I always get drops offs (maybe only 5 per cent) on any reboot
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda app-developers app
I noticed battery drop after I started bluetooth my music through my car stereo.
Apparently it's a bug in a file called "media server" in Android that causes that.
The short fix is, after I stream music, if I'm not going to stream for a while, I reboot
the phone. Killing the service for media server won't stop it, you have to reboot.
I ran a battery program that showed overnight, the media server wasn't going to
sleep, kept wakelocking. After rebooting, the battery only lost 2-3% overnight,
and before, it was losing 10-20% overnight. Might be worth looking into.
full decharge (1bar,not really full) and fullbrechargr cycles might make it better. A sudden drop like this screams battery replacement. If in warrantee period get it replaced.

Xperia V always active

Spoiler
Okay, first of all, I'm on an Xperia V, with latest firmware (4.1), unrooted.
So lately I've been having trouble with battery life. I don't really use my phone much, since I've got a Nexus 7, but the phone just plows through the battery.
The problem was that the phone always stayed active, even with battery saving modes on. Now I didn't use many sensors, like GPS, NFC, BT, and WiFi Location, but still I couldn't get it to last very long.
Now two days ago, I factory reset it and set it up. I tried Smart Connect and Location Based WiFi to automate my phone, and battery life was pretty good, definitely better than previous.
But now today, my battery life is once again bad. I haven't really found the source of the problem, it's not an installed app that drains the battery, and the battery usage shows that 'Media' and 'Android System' drains the most battery, and that the phone stays active when it's sleeping.
I've also noticed that my signal drops frequently, even though I'm in the town.
What can I do?
TLDR; Xperia V, latest 4.1 firmware, unrooted. 'Media' and 'Android System' drain most battery, phone stays active all the time, no GPS, Location, NFC, BT. Tried factory reset. Don't know what to do. Frequent signal drops too.
I'm gonna try a factory reset without the SD-card, I don't even use it.
Here are battery and wakelock screenshots:

Err, that is normal use.
Your phone is in deep sleep for 49% off the time, that is normal. You have 38% battery after 21 hours use, that is good.
If you keep factory resetting then every time you boot it has to use media scanner again to rebuild its data bases..
My suggestion I'd to leave it for a few days to settle down, then see how it is

No, it can't be.
Android System and Google Services shouldn't drain 70% of the battery, neither should it keep the phone active 75% of the time, with less than two hours of screen on time. My Nexus 7 has been 'active' 20 minutes, with 5h of screen time and music playback.
I had the problem before, that's why I reset the phone, and now I have it again. I don't think it'll settle down.
You can always ignore my advice if you want.
But your own images show 49% deep sleep and 33% battery left after more than 20 hours use. Trust me this is good and normal, and most users here would bite their right arm off for that
Also, if you keep resetting you are going to drain the battery quicker.
But like I said, you are more than free to ignore this advice and keep resetting your phone.

Question Battery draining a bit too fast

Hi!
I'm experiencing some battery draining problems for a few months.
Overnight it uses up to about 15% and during the day with about 1h30min SOT it's down like 30%. I factory reset it, debloated it, dark mode on, Naptime with aggressive doze mode on and restricted almost all apps from running in the background with no difference.
I'm running on 12.5.4 global. Sometimes cell standby uses as much as 500 mAh.
When the battery is full it says "about 52 h 34 m left" no matter if I'm using fast or slow charging. Is this normal? I'm attaching some screen shots.

I have flashed the latest Lineage OS a week ago and the battery life is very good! The best of all MIUI or AOSP ROMs I have flashed to the moment!
At night the phone is in sleeping mode and the battery at morning is almost the same as it was at the evening, with WiFi, Bluethoot and Location switched ON - I haven't really tested how much exactly percents it tekes during the night, but I think that it's not more than 2-3% for the night.

Below are some stats from the latest Lineage OS
3% for almost 8 hours
I didn't get any problems with the Alarm and the deep sleep mode!
Overnight drain is too high. It's 10% even after enabling scheduled power off/on feature. Phone remains powered off for 4-5hrs at night still 10% of overnight drain is too much
2% here for more than 8 hours
That's aosp bruh. I should switch soon.

Question Sudden battery drain on cherishOS

Hello, this is my first post on xda so sorry for any mistakes.
I've had CherishOS 3.9.5 on sweet for a good while now and this problem started a month ago.
Device does not go into deep sleep at all, idle drain is so high that it doesn't even make sense.
For example today, when i went to sleep, i closed all apps and turned off the mobile network. There was a drain from 57% to 19% over 6 hours.

I rooted my phone and installed betterbatterystats for further investigation and found this
I found this today. Previously i scoured through forums for a similar issue and found that disabling double tap to wake should fix the issue. I did that and it did fix the battery, but only for 2 days and then it went back to the god awful drain. It's a real pain to have my phone charging all the time.
Any help is appreciated and I can post anything further if I missed anything here. Thank you
What Kernel u use? Had this issues too with different Kernel and Versions, but with AGHISNA-OSS-12-03-2023-signed seems all fine and working decent.
Give it a try, i wont touch my Kernel for a while, because never touch a running system.
Attached is the Aghisna OOS for LQ8000. If u have that other Chargingboard, u have to search on Sourceforge for it.

And kill the battery in the process. Another reason to avoid google.
calibrat your batterie try to using your phone until it turns off completely and wait 3 hours while it is turned off after that plug in without turn it on until you see 100% icon battery in the dark page and try to give it another 3 hours after that plug out and power on your phone and use it until 15% ..and voilà your batterie is fresh and calibrate and happy
Update to Cherish build 4.61 not newer nor older
this precise build specially the vanilla one with nikgapps core is very satisfieng combination with superb bb and barely noticable drain
try it and report back
ps: clean install is a must to have the best results
Good luck
