Wifi Tethering help

I recently bought a used HTC Hero(Sprint) and I can't get the device to be seen as a hotspot. When I turn on WIFI tethering it is ony detected as a peer-to-peer and not a wifi hotspot. What is wrong any help would be appreciated.
What program are you using for tethering? The app that seems to work best for us Hero users is Wireless Tether for Root Users. It isn't available from the market, so you'll need to Google search for it. There are multiple versions available, but the one that seems to work best is 1.60 for the hero.

That's the only way it works. Ad hoc only. Sucks if youwant to use a wii, but works with computers, iphone, etc.

I am using the 1.60 version of Wireless Tether for root users. My friend has a EVO and it does not pick up the signal at all but my work laptop does but admin rights don't allow peer-to-peer connection
then you might want to try usb tethering with easy tether or pdanet
I found version 2.0.5 pre3 test 3 at the google code site. I was able to get my hero into infrastructure mode with it. My DS still won't work with it but my laptop does connect to it as a wifi connection instead of ad hoc. I am also able to change the SSID with this version but encryption still does not work. Haven't had a chance to look into those issues yet.

[Q] How to make wifi tether work with 3g Tab

So my rooted Tab comes with unlimited 3G connection, tried several wifi tether apps from the Market and my HTC Desire Z doesn't seem to detect it. Is there a compatability issue here?
Hopefully I can get it to work so I can save money by being able to use wifi tethering from my Tab to my CP. Thanks
Google wifi tether and got this, hope it helps.

Tried the Google wifi tether app, it installed fine and seems to be working but my cellphone(Desire Z) still cannot detect any wifi signal. =(
I think that PDAnet will also work fine, if I'm not mistaken.

Tether CM7 Milestone to Transformer

I'm trying to figure how to successfully tether my Asus Transformer to my Milestone running the latest CM7 RC4. Using the built in 3G hotspot, I am able to connect to the phone but it does not seem to be actually sharing the connection because I can not even go to any sites on the browser. I have also tried Tether Blu Free and Wireless Tether apps from the market with no luck (same thing over bluetooth, I connect but it doesn't seem to properly share the data connection). Anybody had any luck with this or have any suggestions? Going on road trip today and hoping to get this working.
RC5 now update too quickly
Still not working on RC5
Has anybody succesfully tethered their Milestone with CM7 to a Transformer? It is frustrating because bluetooth tethering works flawlessly on my fiance's Milestone with rooted stock 2.1-update1 using Wifi tether app.

The OG Droi/Milestone from what I understand does not have the hardware needed for the built in 3 g hot spot to work. you have to use this apk http://code.google.com/p/android-wi...tail?name=wifi_tether_v3_0-pre14.apk&can=2&q=
Works for me.
Good luck.

[Q] x8 wifi tethering

It's possible to tether wifi with wpa2 security? My Asus Transformer can't find even unsecured wifi connection from my xperia x8. On my computer I see and work with this connection normally.
When I check "Settings / Wireless & networks / Tethering & portable hotspot / Portable Wi-Fi hotspot" my xperia x8 going to reboot.
When we will bypass bootloader , It will be possible
I thinking about to sell my xperia x8 for half cost and take Lg Optimus One / Nexus S :-(

I am having the same problem with wifi hotspot. I have install barnacle wifi tether to share my data connection. Barnacle tether does not support wpa/wpa2 security, only wep 64 & 128 bit.
I can't find this connection from my asus eee transformer even unsecure. It's not a problem that connection unsecured
Try to use the free app "Barnacle wifi theter"! it's working on my phone with FroyoBread and kuyaDROID. Bye.

Another android device can connect to your barnacle connection?

i tried only on FroyoBread, and it's working. my friend used a Lg optimus one to connect on my hotspot.
but i think is working also with kuyaDROID, but i'm not sure!
My transformer can connect to optimus one wifi hotspot, and my computer can connect to my xperia x8 hotspot, but my transformer don't see xperia hotspot.
just use barnacle wifi tehter..... its free on android market and you can add security
Guys, I know about barnacle. I used about 5 other tether application. But my asus eee pad transformer cannot see wifi connection from my xperia x8. It's working ok with lg optimus one p500, my computer (win7) working ok with xperia x8 connection. But not asus.
you need to add ad-hoc support to your transformer by flashing a rom that includes that...but u gotta root first
There is an other option and that is we should request Doixanh for porting wifi hotspot option in GingerDX next release
As only Android 2.3 can have that feature in itself without using another application
please help
hi im having the same problem with my transformer prime (not rooted) and my x8 (rooted with unlocked bootloader overclocked to 710mhz and gingerDX v26 android 2.3.7) i managed to tether my tf201 to my x8 first time using foxfi, pdanet (not 3.5.0) and pdanet tablet. but after that it came up with a javascript error report when i tried to connect with bluetooth dun exactly like the first time and it failed
i have got it to work it requires root you need to use barnacle wifi tether look it up in the market you also need to have credit on your x8 and working 3g you just need to grant root permissions and it will modify a ini file and within a few minuites it will activate wifi hotspot but first you need to disable wpa key and after using it re enable if you want also you can change the name of the network if you want

Im using w8 rooted with zoloxse rom(locked bootloader)
But my psp doesnt search barnacle network

[Q] Adhoc wifi on P7310 with CM10?

Hi,
I am using JB CM10 and just wondering if there is any working solution for adhoc wifi?
Use connectify-me for pc to make a hotspot

Hi
Thanks for the hint but seems that my question was bit unclear.
As my tablet is wifi only, every now and then I would need to connect to adhoc wifi i.e. to a mobile.
So I am looking for solution how to connect to adhoc wifi. In mean while I did some searching and if I got it right CM10 does not support adhoc connection (yet). It works in CM9.
One solution woulb be to change my N9 to iphone as for some reason they establish wifi differently so tablet sees iphone wifi but not N9

Did you try 'Wi-Fi Direct' in the triple-dot menu in the WiFi area?
Hi,
Yes I have tried the direct wifi and also that does not find ac-hoc networks.
So most likely I just have to wait until CM10 supports adhoc connections...
