[Q] Are you in need of a toolkit? - Motorola Droid 4

e you in need of a toolkit? Hi. I'm Xmc Wildhchild22 From the mytouch 4g slide Forum. I've been running a toolkit there for 2-3 months now called Mr Root and I'm thinking of turning it multi-device. Features should include... Rooting, Unrooting, Build.prop tweaker, Custom made Apktool (deodex, sign, decompile etc.) Bootanimation Flasher, Splash screen Flasher, Wifi tools, Font flash (with preview), and MUCH MORE!
If you wish for me to create a version for the Droid 4....comment below or vote above in the poll. Heres a link to the thread on the Mytouch 4g slide and T-Mobile G2 in my signature for further details.

How would it differ from JRummy's toolkit? -GEF

[Theme][Metamorph] The Oficcial Drone by ravenjr, Droid's Nemesis

This is the introducion of Drone© developed by myself Brian, or [email protected] I am developing a new ui for Android and also will be releasing the Official Drone introduction video soon. Drone© also is not specific to any OS as of yet. So i hereby introduce to the Android community "Drone"!
This is just a theme for Dream users, im not doing a whole lot of advanced theming because im not revealing the ui or other Drone© specific official related material.
NOTICE NOTICE NOTICE
RavensScript has a lot more options now and also i have fixed the problem with the turbo opt script but dont use as of now because i have to do more scripting, all the other options work just fine. I also have the official Droid fonts that change the whole system fonts to the Droid, pretty neat!
Instructions-------> Extract, place tmp folder on the root of sdcard or if you already have directory /sdcard/tmp created then just copy all the contents over
Actions--------> In your terminal app type: su (enter), sh /sdcard/tmp/ravensScript.sh

Urgh ok, lemme see whats goin on
i had a similar issue with metamorph
just unzip the file using your computer and extract files to a folder on your sd card, use the existing theme button in metamorph and select the .thm file.
works for me my motorola a855 android is running the ICE theme. no custom rom, just root access.
cheers!
Very nice theme. When will you be putting it back up? I am running Manup's Eclair v1.5, will this work for that ROM when you put it back up?

MetaMorph

OK, question, since now we have Root, is it possible to Build an XML version with Meta-morph Donate/Pro Version on the Eugene's SlideMEROOT ROM? or does the Espresso Sense UI prevent it from happening.
yes mm's please!
I'm pretty sure that if you have root you can use metamorph on the slide

MetaMorph and Nija install fine, but when they are launched the phone reboots, which is weird. It does it on all Roms so far but one, CM 5.0.8. But, seems it's still having issues with that rom . Might have to contact the dev .

Yea same thing happened to me both ninjamorph and metamorph cause a reboot. Id like to look at a logcat to see what's going on.

Wont work because we still don't have system mount, root explore doesntwork eather.
System mount works in recovery.
I am having the same probs with MM and NM. Would it be possable to install it via adb so that it has system access or whatever it needs?

just need some basic clarification on changing boot animations

sorry if this is in the wrong section, it was either this or the android development, figured boot screen was closer to theme than general development
with a custom rom that includes a "new" boot animation, is it possible to download and install a different boot animation of my choice instead of the one in the rom or does the fact that the rom includes a new one prevent me from loading it?
i have plain jane 2.2 i believe, and tried to install the decepticon boot animation, with no success. if there's some literature somewhere, i'd love to be pointed in the right direction and read it on my own, but if its just easier to say yes or no and why or why not, then that's fine too.
First answer: Yes. You can use any boot animation with any rom. Assuming it's sized and config properly.
Now the other part. Some roms store their BA's in /data/local and some store them in /system/media
I would suggest you look in both those folders to see where you existing BA is, then add your new one there.
You can change any tons bootanimations, you can buy bootanimation pro from market and choose one of there's and click and it does it for you or you can find one you like as a custom one and use root explorer to change it or you can use commands and push it to ur phone there's already a post on how to do it I think on theme section where your post is at on one of the pages
Thanks, guys. I'll check it out. It's just a matter of knowing where to start, which I didn't know hence my question.

Search for t2noob's thread "Custom Boot Animation Gallery {no root needed}" youll find info about multiple ways to change boot animations, add sounds, and find a bunch of awesome animations. youll find your answers better explained there

Alternate Keyboards (Android default / Droid X)

I have searched hi and low to find the answer to this question.
The Android Default Keyboard cannot be installed in a Sense rom without it's necessary framework.
I have attached two flash-able update that work with our phones:
The Droid X keyboard (I found nothing special about this)
The Default Android Keyboard, and a modded one with voice input.
I have also attached a modded HTC keyboard that I found to work with our phones.
I am currently looking into updating Swype to the newest version and also adding the EVO 4G keyboard.
-I Take no credit for these. I'm merely sharing the items in this sector of the forum.
After playing around with a few things I have discovered the following:
The default Android, Droid X, an EVO keyboards all install with the same package name. What does that mean?
If we don't push them into system/app or data/app we can only use one at a time if we install using Astro or similar.
I'm not going to give u instructions for using ADB in recovery (Hint Hint, SUFBS and RootFileExplorer wont write, can read though)
I have however made a flash-able update with the default keyboard framework only!
You can decide whether you want to push a dozen kb's or install them 1 at a time and try them out.
Also Here is a link to a page with EVO kb's

[MOD][EG22][odexed] CRT Off ONLY!!!!

OK, this is the first time I've edited an apk file, but I'm running it on my phone with no problems. I'm using odexed "stock" EG22. Your Mileage May Vary! If you are running EG22 you've already voided your warranty so don't blame me if your phone bursts into flames. So far only one person has tested this (me) but it's a pretty basic edit and what could possibly go wrong!
I took the CRT/Battery mod that was posted by Tortel1210 (thanks) and replaced the framework in it with a stock EG22 framework that has had one line edited in it to enable CRT animation. Thanks to kennethpenn in the Atrix forum for instructions on how and what to edit. For those interested, here's the instructions I followed:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1138800
Here's the installer I created. Install using CWM.

EDIT:
Just a heads up here. Apparently enabling the CRT Off animation causes the automatic screen brightness function to work incorrectly; it jumps from full dim to full bright instead of continuously varying. From what I've read this is a gingerbread bug that occurs on all phones. I've confirmed that it happens with this mod.
2nd time 1st!!!...nice job BTW!Went back to EF02 but a few more of these and off to EG22 I go, thanks!
Anybody working on a port for the screen "on" animtion or the overscroll glow..its just aother file in the same framework package isn't it (CRT screen on)...if it is...then I'm hoping those instructions can allow the screen on as well.

Ok thanks I had a misunderstanding of the concept...can they be ported from another ASOP Gingerbread ROM or ported over like some of our devs have done with porting themes?

I don't intend to be pushy...but I just get jealous when I see other GB ROM's on other phones that aren't CM7...with features that we don't have...

As I understand it, the overscroll glow requires quite a bit of modifications as does the CRT ON. I also think enabling them requires a deodexed rom.
CRT OFF is built into the existing framework and can be enabled by just changing one parameter and recompiling, which is what I did. I'm not a developer but I'm pretty good at following other people's instructions, so I was able to put this together pretty easily. It'll take an actual developer to add the other stuff.

I got chu....maybe it will happen once we get some GB source code and get CM7 working for the epic...from my knowledge once you have the feature compatable with the hardware of the phone on one ROM...it should be an asy transition btwn different ROM's for the same phone...thanks for clarifying though.

Deodexed ROM
This may be obvious from the title of the thread, but is this compatible with the deodexed ROM?
If not, can you give me any advice on how to make this for the deodexed ROM?

I haven't tested it on deodexed, but I think it will work. If you backup in CWM before you install it and it doesn't work you can recover by just "advanced restoring" system in CWM. You could be the guinea pig!

It works on deodexed
Thanks for the info. I see that there is now a thread on deodexed overscroll and crt off, but for me since installing the overscroll works, but not crt. I migjt try this one soon.
