Can anyone tell me if Droid48 runs on the Nook Touch? - Nook Touch Themes and Apps

I'd really appreciate it if someone could provide me some feedback on whether the HP48 emulator "droid48" runs, and possibly provide a screenshot?

It runs fine on NST. One of my favorite apps on my Android. RPN FTW!
BTW, I haven't tried graphing, but algebraic and equation modes for entering equations both worked. Secondary functions can be a little hard to see, but that shouldn't be a problem if you're familiar with it.

You've gotta love how the frame buffer is in color.

Hi how do you take screenshots in the NST? Also any other apps you recommend for a rooted nst? droid48 is great...
Sent from my Nook using xda app-developers app

there are several apps that working with nst on market.
im using ddms via adb, its the easiest way. (you should set up an adb connection, its there: `android-sdk-windows\tools\ddms.bat`)

DLNA possible on DINC?

Wasn't sure if its was better in this forum or the apps...
As title reads is it possible to DLNA on the DINC or is it something that has to be in the hardware or baked in the ROM?

i couldn't even get the thing to work on the Droid X, but here's the .apk and an .apk for the system (i think???)
I don't know, but all i can say is, the X is overrated and overhyped, its not nearly as good as the incredible, even with that large screen, the AMOLED on the Incredible is much much nicer. I'm swapping my X for my Incredible back, I never had so many problems with my Inc as i have so far with the X.
What exactly is DLNA?
Not going to work. There is specific framework on the X that is for DLNA as well.
If someone's REALLY, REALLY dedicated... then they can just grab the 2.2 (or 2.1) sources, code in support for DLNA (assuming the framework is open source... I didn't look into that), and build it for everyone to enjoy.
Good luck with that.

That is promising though. I was hoping it was just software based. It's beyond my skills at this point so I'll cross my fingers and hope someone can either port or create an app for it.
Thank you all for the replies!

[Q] any explanation for mac not recognizing nook? do not suggest ADBwireless

Ok i am running a mac and have my nook beautifully running honeycomb via sd card.
I got to put market on and my mac will not show my nook under connected devices when i type the command in terminal: ./adb devices.
this is what it shows:
nic-cornells-macbooklatform-tools niccornell$ ./adb devices
List of devices attached
nic-cornells-macbooklatform-tools niccornell$
What the hell i have been working at this literally nine hours, countless post/forums/cigarettes/suggestions.
ADBwireless WILL NOT WORK BECAUSE YOU WOULD NEED MARKET TO BEGIN WITH WHICH I DO NOT HAVE AND AM TRYING TO GET IN THE FIRST PLACE.
Anyone with usefull info post.....i swear do not post TRY ADBWIRELESS.
I am a noob at this but, could you try installing the file from the sd card, or is it taken up by the HC?

I was about to tell you a very easy way to get ADBwireless on there without having the Market working first, but since you're not interested...
No, i do not have an explanation. However, if you will cool down and breathe a moment, we'll try to help.
First... nine hours....take a break. Frustration is the enemy.
Second, can you download the apk for adb wireless and sideload it. This would be the easiest.
If that fails..then search on the forums for the thread about getting adb working.

You may also want to sideload Astro file manager.
Maybe you should ask the man above me, nicely mind you, to help.

My solution:
Burn,Throw out, Dispose of said mac,
grab a linux/windows 7 pc
Now, now. No need to hate on the pie filling ( although, I do love my Linux Mint 10 machine).
Maybe, since HC is being this difficult for you, you should be sticking with rooted stock, or Nookie Froyo?

edit: after searching from my lappy this morn....try thishttp://nookdevs.com/NookColor_USB_ADB. Has instructions for the pie filling in there.

tl;dr
Did you modify your .bash_profile with your PATH to platform-tools? Your mac needs to know where to look...
yes sir i did, its alright a guy sent me a link to his dropbox and i was able to download ADBwireless app and it installed. now just gotta figure out what the commands should look like
I assume you mean to connect? In linux it is # adb connect (the ip and port number adb wireless gives you)

New CNN App, others, not showing

I am getting tired of some of the quality apps not showing up in my Nook Market. I am using CM7.
eBay, Gowalla, Amazon, now CNN (and a few others) do not show up. I have to Bluetooth them over from my phone to get them installed (and even then it's a pain when they have an update).
Anyhow, will this ever be fixed? Can the dev's somehow fool the market into beleiving that the Nook meets all of the requirements so that all of the basic missing apps show up?
Just curious if there is ANY hope in the future on this....
I believe i see the problem. I went onto the web market, and looked at the permissions, and i think it all comes down to them requiring this:
"# Hardware controls:
take pictures and videos"
Somehow, you would have to make the nook tell the market that it can take pictures/video, which should then make it compatible. I don't know how easy this is though, so i will leave it to a dev..

There are 5 or 6 apps I use on my Droid (1) that I cannot locate in the market on my NC because of this camera permission. VERY FRUSTRATING! I'm sure the devs will create a workaround for this eventually (i hope!)...
I'll fix it. Thanks for pointing it out.
Please. I would really appreciate it very much.

Well, yeah it'd be nice if they could just disable the camera feature. Apps crash if you force 'em and they try to use the camera, so caveat emptor
I ported the .apk of the new CNN app from my Epic thru Dropbox, it won't install on the Nook....

I didnt try the CNN one yet (I tried it on my phone and it was ok, but nothing like the HC on the Xoom version) but I got Amazon on my nook with Cm7 without any problem, then loaded all my apps that I had from my phone.
I loaded it by going to Amazon.com and loggin in, then it loaded to my device pretty easy (maybe one more step, but easy).
Battery on Nightly 40 was not good, i left it at 64% last night and when got home from work it was 8%. Waiting for the recharge now and then will load #41 and see if anything is better. Sorry for the long Ramble on the amazon question.

The eBay, Amazon, CNN, and Gowalla app all download and work on a stock rooted nook with the newer market update. The eBay, Amazon, and Gowalla apps are all on the amazon market, have to tryed to download from there? I am without my personal computer for a few more weeks or else I would look into the problem for you, it should be a simple code change to get it to work on CM7.
Here's the apk for CNN that works on the NC.

Changing the build.prop file did nothing. It still works the same way. Everything plays in double time. It's rather amusing for a few seconds and then extremely annoying. Anyone have any other ideas?

you need to reboot your system after making that change. Assuming you are running a .32 kernel, the build.prop change WILL work.
I am running [Kernel][Eclair][Froyo][CM7] Dalingrin's OC kernel [6/09/11].rebooted, reinstalled still not working.

Not at all. That is set elsewhere. Regardless of what your device think's its model is (HTC vision or Nook), it knows its resolution is 1024x600. There is no database relating specific model strings to specific screen resolutions.

How did you get it to work? I tried and could not get it to work. I'm wondering if I'm taking some of this too literally. I used Root Explorer and changed to this:
ro.product.model=HTC Vision
ro.product.manufacturer=HTC
Should I remove the "HTC <space>" that is in front of Vision on the ro.product.model line and leave it simply as:
ro.product.model=Vision
Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

zoomy942,
Thanks for the link. I had already downloaded it and was migrating it over to my device when you replied. I tried it and get an error notification when I try to install it. I even tried using Astro and AndroZip to locate and install it since the standard installation app didn't do it. I was able to do it with other apps, but am running into a snag.
The only issue I'm suffering is that Netflix, while it playing audio/video, sounds like The Chipmunks on crack by playing at 2x-3x speed instead of standard. Any ideas on these questions.

It's not even installing. There's no install prompt like in most sideloaded apks. I don't get it. My friend got it to work on his Nook Color, but I'm stumped. I hhave wiped the cache and then uninstalled Netflix, then sideloaded the version on my Droid 2 running Liberty 2.0 and it even updated from the market. Each time I try it I get the 2x-3x speed issue. I will log on from my laptop and try to copy the exact error I get later.
Again, thanks for your help.

[Q] Tablet ROM

Hey
I read some very enthusiastic texts on the tables Roms for GN. What exactly am I missing? What is the additional benefit of such a ROM - compared to a standard phone ROM?
Thanks in advance.
c.
For example, on paranoid android, you get a mix of the tablet and phone interface.
This allows you to better distribute the screen space.
And it looks great
now that i installed it i can't ever live without.
And what exactly does "tablet interface" do? You have more space? That's it?
Please give me some more input, so that I get the advantage. Thx.
