Gesture Control (root) - Galaxy Tab 7.7 Themes and Apps

Please refer to the main thread in Android apps and Games: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1535740
I'm developing application that allows you to control tablet with multitouch gestures. Root access is needed. Currently it allows to execute following gestures:
Back:
Swipe 2 fingers from top downward
Home:
pinch 3-4 fingers
Show/Hide status bar:
Swipe 2 fingers from bottom upward
Please try it out and let me know what you think. What other features or actions would be helpful?
You can download it here:

- Added check for USB Debugging
1.2.0
- Added option to switch multitouch/singletouch gestures
- Fixed bug: ROOT permission sometimes was not aquired

There are a lot of requests for status bar hiding widgets or apps. So you just start the application when you need to hide status bar (for example before browsing or gaming). You don't lock your device in the middle of gaming.
In my opinion it is still better than all other bar hiding apps (and I'm talking about free version of my app). You have to click something in all of them (and here you click - start app). Just in my app you have the opportunity to control your tablet while bar is hidden.
But if you think this version is useless, I value your opinion.

it does nothing..btw, still a good idea..great if work flawlessly

Working fine here. Nice app, doesn't lag either.
Would love to see more gestures/controls and an option to customize them. Please keep up the good work and don't stop working on it

I'm developing on 7.7 myself, so it is tested well on it.
You don't get any error messages, notifications on gestures nothing? Does the last button in settings screen (Status bar toggle) works (hides/unhides) status bar?

I'm now using this and works brilliant. Finding the swipe gestures to suit me. Hiding and unhiding status bar no lag. Keep up the good work. Bought full version.

it doesn't work for..it just only state that it is hide, menu, and back
.but there is no action..

I will add setting to turn off toast message on unlock (when tutorial mode is switched off). However free version will stay for occational use. Application contains a lot of native code that will need support with new versions/devices. And the application is niche anyway. I really tried using this version myself and I find it usefull, but you can propose different model, I'm open for ideas.

The annoying part :
Three very, very small gestures for 1.5 coins...
I'll be happy to buy only one (taskbar hidding ) for 0.49.
This may be a joke...
Once again, the app works great.

Well, there are other apps for this (HideBar - free, Honeybar - 1$), my intention is to evolve the gesture part. Allow to create your own gestures and define your own actions.

Any chance of making the gestures more like the ipad? E.g. 5 finger pinch to home? Its a more natural closing type gesture imo

Weird, checked with my device, and I can see it as available with other account.
I have excluded some devices, but definitely not 7.7.

Changed gestures to multitouch (see first post).
Also fixed a bug that I think prevented actions from working on some devices.

Excellent, thanks!
I just bought it and it recognises my gestures fine but it stopped doing anything after the first gesture?
It still pops up with home etc but doesnt do the action.
If i open the gesture app and disable and reenable the service again it works for one action and stops again

[APP] Widgetsoid2.x ... 3rd party Power Control Widget, and more... way more!

Just thought I'd pass this along. Before the NS, I used the hell out of "Extended Controls" ... Sadly, most of the toggles I would have liked to use do not work with the NS (2.3 compatibility issue?). Emailed the dev and got responses right away saying it will be updated next week. Next week came and gone ... came and gone again. Dev is probably behind with RL stuff so sooner or later it will be updated. In the mean time, I found an awesome alternative with more features ... and its free.
Widgetsoid2.X
Highly customizable power control widget ... and can even be configured to add a power control widget from your notification bar drop down.
Yeah I really like widgetsoid. Since cm team still hasn't got the flashlight working I use its flashlight widget inside the notification bar. Works great.
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
great app, been using it for a while now. but how do you put the widgets in the notification bar? can't seem to find it
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
ohh that's a nice find
Odd. Both my wife and I use extended controls fine. I find if you restore it via Titanium, it doesn't work but if you do a fresh install of it, everything functions great. Good find though.

The widget isn't really not put in the notification bar. It puts the image of your widget there but when you click on a power control it brings up the power control in an overlay of your screen where you then select which power control you want to turn on/off. For me (not short on screen space) its no quicker than using regular widget on the screen.
thanks! I've been using extended controls even though it wasn't fully operational w/gingerbread. Just dl'ed widgetzoid and bluetooth works! Liking the vertical option too..
I was really impressed by Widgetsoid and its developer 2 weeks ago. I found a bug, emailed the dev, and got a response in like an hour. Within like 2 hours of emailing him, he tracked down the bug and incorporated a fix into the next release. Now that's service.
we reported it a while ago
http://www.mobiflip.de/2011/01/andr...-benachrichtigungsleiste-einfach-nachruesten/
(p.s. google translate is your friend )
The thing I really like is how easy it is to edit existing widgets. Saves a lot of time if you just want to add or remove something from a power control type bar
the app is good, no doubt, but it's a major pain in the back to configure
some options are no longer available after you hit apply
so if you ever want to change them again, you can't (for example the invisible option, there are a few more that are no longer accessible after it was saved)
and the only alternative is to delete it, and create a new one

Guess that's why I'm sticking with extended controls. Profiles are so easy to edit.
but once you master this App, it's a big treasure chest!
once everything was properly setup and configure, it easily replaced 7+ apps
TeslaLED
tons of On/Off Widgets
Ace Volume
Battery info
crap load of other ones i uninstalled
i setup 4 rows, maybe gonna add 1 more for 5 rows for Apps
that's the nice thing about this app, you can create custom shortcuts to make it launch your most used apps, from the Notification area
i simply love it

are you guys able to enable/disable Data with Widgetsoid 2.x on Nexus S using Gingerbread 2.3.. (unrooted?).
Most items work, but this one does not toggle Mobile Data on/off on my phone. I dunno if this is a security limitation right now with this OS.

Yeah I noticed this too. Was a shame, cause this is the main reason I was after this. I guess this functionality of directly enabling/disabling from the task bar cannot be enabled in stock roms without direct framework changes.

Hi,
Widgetsoid need root only for the reboot toggle
For the data on Nexus S just restaur your apn, check your data is enable and go to global preferences of widgetsoid and check "disable all apn".
Now it have to work.

Android don't allow event on notifications it's an android limitation not an widgetsoid error/limitation.
On HTC rom it's works directly because HTC have modify android source code to allow this. HTC users are lucky. Next version have an option to disable popup after click on notification.

Post Your Honeycomb Home Screen!

Although we do not yet have access to a screen shot application, it's time to start the inevitable Home Screen thread.
EDIT: A screen shot application has been created, free for XDA users, find the apk in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=995443
I took a shot of my screen with my trusty G2, sorry for the lack of quality.
By using Bettercut, I was able to use custom icons and remove the labels.
Thanks to jfritz2 @androidforums (link here: http://androidforums.com/t-mobile-mytouch-3g/187204-icons-cyanogenmod-icon-pack-2-18-11-a.html )
I placed my icons on the left and right edges of the screen, given that 99% of the time I am using the Xoom in landscape, allowing easy access with my thumbs.

I've found that Desktop Visualizer absolutely works with Honeycomb, although it's not available through the market yet. If you can find a copy of the app, you'll find it allows for custom sizes for icons and images placed on the homescreen.
UPDATED:
Using ADW EX, Desktop Visualizer, Widgetsoid, BW, and Pulse, along with some stock widgets.
The device pics take me directly to the XDA Forum for each applicable device

What toggle widget is that?
A few other things to note...
When searching for icons, I recommend using 256x256 pngs, the standard icons do not scale well in Bettercut or DV. You'll notice that although the icons are 1x1, they are scaled larger when removing the labels.
As for the wallpaper, I'm sure ou noticed my lack of originality. The truth is, I love this wallpaper. I use it as the wallpaper on my Honeycomb themed G2, my laptop and even my Xbox360.

No issues but when I was trying to set it to one screen only, it force closed on me a couple times. Once I got that set, no issues so far. I like the swipe gesture on the application drawer icon. It brings up your last 16 recent apps instead of the 5 limit using the honeycomb one.

But Before you active this Apps, you need to use another apps to make you can press "back , Home, etc...buttons"
So that you need to install the "GN LMT V1.5"

Thanks to noname81
The Full Steps (Root your device before start the following steps)

3) Test the GN LMT is work or not
4) If work, please make the GN LMT auto start from the GN LMT Setting

I haven't had a chance to work on this yet, but that's a good point. I can probably put the back button in the statusbar but the full-screen issue is a good point. There's not much I can do about that. The camera button can probably be remapped so that's the home button, but that's a bit impractical.
You can always exit games without the home and back buttons anyway

Hello Fish,
Finally I can modify the Navigator Button Size by myself
I search many post, no one can tell me how to solve the aapt bammi issue
After a long long search, I found a post said, if aapt not work then bababababa...
The method is, build the unchange version of the framework-res.apk first
after that, modify the res/dimens, then build the modified version
Extract resources.arsc from both unchange / modified framework-res.apk
use the Binary different software to compare which address value is different
After locate the address, and modify the original framework-res / resources.arsc
But the address is not the same, but the pattern is almost the same, so need to search
Use Hexeditor to edit the value which you want "you changed"
Then put back the resources.arsc to the org. framework-res.apk
Then finish~~~~~
PS: modify the Hex address, call up my memory of playing Nitendo to modify the save file or even crack the PC games password ...ha...

First, you can sort your app list. Depending on your needs you can sort them by recent activity, by amount of launches, by download date or simply by names. All your favorite apps are brought to you effortlessly.
But what about all your other apps, the ones you launch once or twice in the week? With Quad you'll be able to found and launch an app very quickly by using the predictive keyboard.
For example, type "758" to find and launch Plume for Twitter
Why is it so fast ? Because most of the time, only one or two keys will be enough to find the app you need.
With time, Quad learns the apps you use the most and gives them a better rank when you perform a search.
For us, Quad aims to replace the default drawer. Thus, we added its basic features. With a long press, you'll be able to quickly reach actions to perform on your apps like uninstalling them, sending shorcuts on the homescreen, viewing their details or opening them in Play Store.
These features are only the first steps, Quad improvement is still in progress and that's why we need your feedbacks.
In the future we'll add more cool stuff and it may go beyond apps launching... So, keep in touch!

In the Google+ community's description. I don't have enough post to give you the link. I am sorry.
Hi jorodan,
I like the floating window in your new version! Strangely it's position is moving if I start an app from within the launcher. Moreover it would be cool if the it could be disabled in running apps. Sometimes it's on the wrong place, like the keyboard. Maybe it would be helpful if it could only be activated for the homescreen?

I don't think it is technically possible.
Hi Jorodan,
thanks for your answer! I like your improvements very much but with the double tap function there is a catch. When I'm typing fast on the dialpad, the floating window is closing. I think you should remove that feature. Anyways I like it :good:

Hi,
Thanks for your feedback!
There's indeed an issue that has been fixed in development. This fix will be available in the next beta.
Just wanted to kudos you people for this awesome app, just missing 'use as launcher' 'force orientation' and 'direct call to a number' options, with those you can replace 3 or 4 default apps, just with this one.. well maybe making it a bit faster could be good too
Right now I'm using Xposed's module App settings to force portrait orientation and Target Home Launcher to use it as home launcher, but best would be having those options in the app.

[TRICK] Floating Window for some ROM.

Hello people ! Just want to share you a little trick I found which is working perfectly. Just a little thing : I'm not sure that this topic has to be here so if it doesn't belong to this section please tell me.
Secondly you may already know this little trick, if many of you guys think that this topic is useless then I'll delete it.
So let's begin. You may know about Floating Window ! This is a feature included in JellyBeer ROM (which is not being developed anymore unfortunately). This feature works pretty like HALO but it is MUCH more smoother. It opens an app in a little window over the app you were using. For me this feature was much more useful than HALO which isn't optimized for our device.
There is a little trick to reproduce this feature on most of the ROM. For this example, I'm using Beenstalk 4.3 ported by Demetris.
To use this trick you need to check this :
- you need to have this option : settings>system>Quick Settings panel>Floating Window. The path may be a little different but the important part is the Quick Settings Panel.
Then you need to have the option : under Tiles and layout > add a custom shortcut.
If you have these two options (and a lot of ROM do have these) you can add any app you want to your quick settings panel (I'll show some photos that will be easier to understand because I think that I'm not clear enough).
Here you are, when you'll select an app, this app will be open in a Floating Window and I can tell you that this is REALLY useful.
Some photos to let you understand :
The first one is a photo of my quick panel, you can see that I added 4 apps : XDA, SMS, KIK and ES Explorer.

The second one represents XDA app opened on my desktop in a Floating Window :
The third one is ES Explorer opened Floating Window that's very useful if you want to modify something faster :
If you don't undersant I'll upload some photos of the settings. Thus feature may be better than HALO (at least it is for me) and doesn't' make the device lags AT ALL :thumbup:
Thanks for reading and again if this topic is useless, trust me I'll delete it to avoid useless topics.

Good discovery thou
It's on carbon 4.3, simply put, for fat lazy people, like moi, find floating window in quicksetting app, then long press the toggle and voila, opens in floating app..
Was you aware you can change the battery icon too Perhaps a tutorial on that too
I have another "discovery" (just kidding)
I love floating window and I did it this way: I have installed Floating Notifications (HALO like notifications) and an xposed module called xhalo floating window. When I get any notification I click it and the app opens in a floating window (which I can change in size )

Can you precise the path a little? I'm currently on the latest Carbon and I don't see anything like this. The only way as far as I noticed (without HALO) is launching app from Recent Apps in 'windowed' mode.
I use this function on pac 4.3 it dont have floating Windows but it is pretty handy
