[Q] Baseband updated but not the build number - XPERIA X8 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
Great site BTW, some very cool things happening here.
Yes I'm a noob and figured that Q + A would be the best place to post a question!
so, I've trawled throguh the site looking for the best answer to my question and have not found one.
I found a post by someone with the same problem, but without an answer.

Basically, I downloaded Flashtool to update my baseband and build number.
My baseband is now 015, but my build is still 2.0.2.A.0.24.
I don't understand what I'm doing wrong??

The 2.0.2.A.0.24 is the build string of your ROM ...
Seems you're still running the genuine Sony Ericsson Android 2.0 update 2 ROM.
Last update ever released for the X8 was 2.1.1.C.0.0.
Baseband 015 just means that you updated the baseband (everything below the ROM ... kernel, loader, GSM/UMTS radio parts) to the latest version ever released by Sony Ericsson.
EDIT: In case you are not referring to the build string of the ROM but really to the build string of the baseband ...
Baseband 006 has a build string of 2.0.2.A.0.24 (came with ROM of the same build version)
Baseband 015 has a build string of 2.1.1.A.0.6 (came with ROM of the same build version)
So, if you are getting a build string version of 2.0.2.A.0.24 on the BASEBAND you are still on Baseband 006

Yes, I'm still on genuine, but I have Android 2.1 Update 1.
Wanting to root, but I have read on here I need to update baseband and build first before doing so.
Wish I could get a screen shot to show you..
Looking under settings-->about phone I see
Baseband version is 015
Kernel version is 2.6.29
Build number 2.0.2.A.0.24

So do I have 2.1.1.A.0.6 if my Firmware version is 2.1 - update 1??
So do I have 2.1.1.A.0.6 if my Firmware version is 2.1 - update 1??

[Q] new 2.3.6 firmware GINGERBREAD.DDJVB

I recently got my gt i9000 updated from a service center to 2.3.6 and now the info under about phone tab is as follows..
kernel version: [email protected]#2
build number: GINGERBREAD.DDJVB
baseband : I9000DDJV7
well this version is actually a value pack along with touchwiz 4.0.
I wanted to root my phone but could not find anything on how to root for this kernel version.. neither on any of the threads..
so i would be grateful for any help..
P.S: well, this is my first post so please correct me if i'm wrong anywhere.
If it's a value pack fw, you *should* be able to root by flashing semaphore 2.7.4 through CWM. Saver should be a rooting toolkit(just search for it). Once you got it rooted, take a root explorer, open /system/build.prop and look for the build date. Post it here then.
please, dial this code and post results :
*#1234#
Maybe its an Asian region firmware.

where do you live please?
Maybe you can take a look at this:
this will teach you to install CWM and then you can use rooted ROMs afterward
wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/Samsung_Galaxy_S:_Full_Update_Guide
Looks like the firmware is for INDIA though I dont see it on Kies now.
You can try flashing Semaphore 2.7.4sc kernel in ODIN.
I will wait for leaked one from Sammobile.
build info of the new firmware
@ everyone:
On dialing *#1234# the following popped up:
PDA : I9000DDJVB
PHONE : I9000DDJV7
CSC : I9000ODDJVB
Build info : wed Mar 21 13:23:31 KST 2012
Yeah, My region is Delhi,India
and my purpose of rooting the Galaxy s is to try out the new ics rom's out there.
Thanks
this firmware is now seeded in kies, so you can try and experiment with any other firmware and then go back to it (using kies or odin)

Try some baseband with V20g in name, instead of V20s (different fw combatibility I suppose).
I am using these
LGP990AT-00-V20q-EUR-XX-JAN-24-2012+0_AP FW
LGP990AT-00-V20q-EUR-XX-JAN-24-2012+0_CP BB
BB is 1035.21_2011075
as it was the one the phone came with originally and works well with it. Beware that some FW/BB combination are not working well wor some phones. No pattern, it is individual.
check if your imei is not damaged... sometimes when flash a rom, it can to be damaged

almost of ROM need 015 baseband
that is standart requirement
I need baseband 06 because of this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2367672 (no signal/network/service)*
My network provider works only on baseband 06, and i can't seem to find a rom compatible with it, i'm currently using stock 2.1.1.c.0.0 with BB 15 and no signal/service, using the device to capture pics and listen to music, that's all... the 06 baseband is named "X8i_2.0.2.A.0.24_Baseband_006.ftf" meaning it requires android 2.0.2, so any help will be appreciated!
try browsing all the ROM threads in the android and original android section! if it states in the OP that it needs the 15 baseband then go find another! almost all of the ROMS here are only working with ...15 basebands

First you need to unlock its bootloader then install jb Rom and kernel
Sent from my MT11i using xda app-developers app
Ok thank you for the reply, is it possible to unlock that bootloader with 11w42 ... i thought only up to 11W29 was possible?? If so can you tell me where is it best to do this and also is there anyway to install Instagram without doing all flashing and bootloader unlocking???
Thanks again
Hmm strictly noo because 11w29 is last date which can be unlocked and 11w29+ may lead to a hard brick... better search in google for instagram for cm7 rom and just install any cm7 rom for stock kernel...
