[THEME AOKP_M3-M4 ICS] Testers needed - Android Themes

I Made a few Themes For IceCreamTosti for the HD2. They should work for other hdpi devices if any of you AOKP users would like to try Here they are. They have worked M3-M4 and all in between. Post #21 has newest Theme's

Would the system UI scale OK for hdpi devices? I looked in the zip and it was xhdpi but in op it says it should work for hdpi... was just wondering.
Thanks

It should if it doesnt then system UI wont have theme everything else will. I only use it on HD2 192-240 dpi but think it should work with other AOKP builds. Thats why I am asking for people to try and let me know. I just hated the baby blue and thought maybe others felt the same.

I am on aosp not aokp but I am trying it anyways. Just about everything worked but the sysui. I'm adding them to sysui APk manually now to see if it scales right.
Thanks

ok system ui doesn't scale to hdpi devices just fyi. they work but are big. also the underscore bracket / line that goes under the text you are inputting whether it is in mms, etc is stretched out and doesn't look correct.
i was using the yellow/orange one btw.
thanks
thinking of making a yellow complete theme for hdpi aosp phone here shortly... for some reason yellow and black is appealing to me

I edited them all by hand in gimp. Took a while. Maybe I will get around doing them for system ui hdpi. The build/phone I use, uses xhdpi for system ui.
I was thinking Yellow was going to be my next one to do.

whipping up a yellow theme and just got done with the battery, what do you think?

Looks really nice. I didnt do battery in purple green or orange theme. Plan on going back and adding them later. I use the battery bar in ics myself.
Feel free to use my theme and modify the stuff inside all you want. Post your finished here too if ya like. I really do not like Baby Blue

Weird I just extracted out SystemUI\res\drawable-hdpi folder from latest build i use to gimp edit the png's .
Thats when I remembered there where none for me to edit. And thats only the SystemUI every other coloring I did was hdpi since thats what's in the rom I use.
So they should work for any HDPI device if they dont have systemUI colored then those png's need edited and added to theme.
If any of you have tried them on a different ROM or Device than I use please let me know how it worked and what your device is.
Also I only use the Gray theme so if something isnt right let me know what to remove and fix. And I will try and update it
Thanks

I tried your orange theme on ascension which is aosp based on a inspire 4g. Like I had reported before the system UI icons didn't scale correct on my rom since they were xhdpi.

Looking good. You using Gimp?
I dont use the Battery Icons.I really like the battery bar and its charging animation. So there really isnt that many png's that are blue in that hdpi folder. I will try and edit them and add to my current theme's this weekend

i am running AOKP Build (see link below) that was ported to our device (SGS-Epic-4G) so i flashed the most recent Mint version (from post #21) and the icons, dialer, contacts and a bit more are themed, but not the status bar... any reason you know of as to why? i had to mount system prior to flashing but after that i was nice... thanks man.

Thanks for the reply and for your support as well. I am sorry to confuse you, but even though you are correct that the thread I linked to in my original post was the MIUI ICS (V4) thread for our phone, I am not asking for your AOKP themes for MIUI ICS, but rather for the AOKP build I am running that happened to be posted in the MIUI ICS thread(?). XDA Member Alias8818 ported AOKP to our device (Samsung Galaxy S, Epic 4G, SPH-D700) and the link to the AOKP port was in the MIUI ICS thread, sorry.... Hopefully the links below will help sort it out, and I also included a link to my Dropbox folder that contains the SystemUI.apk you requested from our AOKP build, and I also included screen shots I took after flashing the most recent Gray theme to show what has been themed and what hasn't...
Here is a <LINK> to the SystemUI.apk (I uploaded it to my Dropbox account) I extracted from the AOKP build I'm on.
Here is a <LINK> to the specific post in the thread that contained the link to the AOKP build I'm on.
Here is a <LINK> to the Dev-Host Download page for the AOKP Build I am on (named "AOKP-MS4-CM9-Beta0.zip").

So I decompiled sysui using latest apktool and changed the color of my status bar clock and date and recompile successfully, put original signing keys back in using 7zip and flash it but sysui isn't working. Not force closing just no wallpaper or status bar. You ever come across this? I'm sure im doing something wrong.

We can change the Clock color in Tosti's ICS, inside Rom Control.
I don't mess with the APK's never decompiled or compiled one. I have been busy this week, I bought a 78 HD XLH, and then sold my car to fast lmao. Working on the old Hog, and its a Daily driver to and from work. It has rained every day since I sold my car lol.
I am going to refresh my theme's soon as I can when Tosti's next update comes out.

[Theme] Black Hole Epic 4G FIXED!!

BLACK HOLE
This is my latest theme for the Epic, and will most probably be the last before Froyo is out. I'm not sure the framework changes in Froyo, but I assume it will be no trouble to port all of my themes over to Froyo after the release. I hope you enjoy!
First you need to root

Then you need clockwork

Finally you need a deoxed theme template

do you know how the battery life on a stock deodexed di18 is compared to a custom deodexed rom. I really want to flash your theme. Also, does crake001 for the battery percentage mod work with stock deodexed and your theme?
i'm new to the android world but was successful with changing themes on my iphone. please help me by giving me step by step on how to apply this theme. i already downloaded to my samsung epic but is stuck there.
g.salas
I haven't played around with too many roms to compare battery life. I carry two batteries and don't really worry about it. I didn't do the battery in percentages on this one. It is on the list for the future. Right this second I'm using a blue battery widget. Flashing my theme over crake's battery percentage will erase his mod, but it might be possible to copy my framework-res.apk and twframework.apk. I'm not sure though. Keep checking back and the percentage mod will end up on here.

Alright, first you need to download the one click root method and one click clockworkmod recovery if you haven't done that yet. The next step is you need to choose a rom that is deodexed, or download the stock di18 deodexed rom and flash the zip in clockworkmod recovery. You cannot theme the stock rom that comes on your phone, it must be deodexed so you don't run into force closed issues. Once your rom is booted and running, just boot back into recovery and apply blackhole.zip. That isn't the basic as the instructions get if you need more help, pm me and I'll go into further detail, as well as provide you with links to everything you need. Everything you need is available here at xda. Don't hesitate to ask more questions.

having some trouble with this theme i have tried it on the galaxy rom by noobnl and the epic experience and on both right after i flash it the browser, contacts, and messaging icons disappear.
Sorry to hear that! I haven't tested either of these roms with the theme. The only rom I ever themed besides stock di18 deodexed was andromeda. I'll contact a few people and find out if there is something I can change in the theme to fix this. I'll pm you with anything I find out and update the OP to let others know. Once again, sorry about that! I believe when apps dissappear like that it has something to do with noticing a change in the md5sum. So I'm guessing that I'll have to sign those apps individually to fix but I'll wait for some confirmation before having you flash a mistake again.

I found the root of the problem dealing with the theme erasing half the system apps out of the phone on flash. I re-worked the apps and just successfully flashed over Frontier GS 3.0 rom, but I know it will work finally because I had the aosp magic rom and my theme deleted all the apps on there as well. It was because I was still theming apps from the dg07 build instead of using the ones from di18. Since I was using stock di18 deodexed, for some reason the apps still took but when I flashed any rom at XDA, the results were bad. I will update the OP and post as soon as I post the fix. Sorry for any inconvenience anyone has suffered.
Theme is fixed, link is updated enjoy!
Theme update! I have been real busy but haven't stopped working on the theme. The dialer colors will be adjust next!
Included now is a fix for the power control widget where you can actually see the buttons. Also the camera is themed now, here are some pics:
**Notice in the pictures the button to switch from camera to camcorder is lighter than the rest, that was fixed before upload, they should all be the same.
Also I themed Tapatalk pro on my phone. Since so many people use it, I'll help anyone who wants their version to match. I'll supply the drawable-hdpi folder and show you how to copy it in.
wow awesome work! Where is that power control widget? does it live in another apk?
edit: I think I just found it in the settings.apk (?)
Yeah settings.apk, just pull out the pngs for the widget or you'll get the other colors as well

You could, but I would just flash the rom zip over what you have as it has a few extras like the gingerbread browser and phone apk.
Nice find, brswatt. Finally a full theme that doesn't break my tethering. Updating my thread to point to this one.

You could, but you wouldn't have the gingerbread dialer.
So just flash the whole thing. It doesn't hurt.
Then just put the xml on your card.

wow, many thanks. Im going to try out right now
I put the gingerbread.xml in the cmparts.apk, so we don't need to save it to sdcard/cmtheme.
About the flashable, by the time you run the cleanup.sh, /system might be not mounted. Nevermind, files will be overwritten anyway. But I still think files delete and set-perm should be done within update-script.
EDIT: File updated. Sorry I didn't know it only loads internal theme files that contain the word "STOCK".
Nice theme, but is there a way to get the old notification pull down back? I like the dark themed pulldown better.
Edit: Nevermind...the CMTheme changed it.http://media.xda-developers.com/images/icons/icon6.gif

[THEMES] Cognition 4.1+: Gingerbread, Honeycomb

Make sure you backup before flashing in case something goes wrong. I am not responsible in any way if you brick your phone. You accept all risk that comes with flashing your phone.
With this theme I decided to go for a more genuine GB look. Which is why there are more files to flash. Also after some trial and error and help from people around the forum I finished my bootanimation.
Here are some GB themed apps. These are not required for the theme to work but do make the theme look good as a whole. *note the Dialer were pulled from Serendipity and can be found on the Serendipity site.
All of the files are Clockwork Mod flashable except the "Icons and Dock.zip"
*NOTE*
This theme will not change the look of your launcher. There are Gingerbread styled icons and dock attached if you want to theme your launcher. This is not a CWM file. Download it, unzip it and pick what you want.

Guide to Themeing
The attached guide is information I use to theme the Cognition ROMs. If there is additional information that you would like to know you can ask me and I'll try to answer.
Honeycomb Theme
Attached is the Honeycomb theme that received of 70% of the vote in the poll. This Honeycomb theme has been ported from PuffinNugz's theme he created.
*UPDATE
The battery icons in PuffinNugz's theme didn't port over properly. I tried everything I could think of to get them to work but could not. So what I have done is recolor the GB battery icons to match the blues in the rest of the HC theme.
*Note
If you want your lock screen to look like the one in the screenshot you have to use the puzzle lock in the settings.
Hmmm, I'm using Cog. 3.03 and it seems that this theme only changed certain properties of the theme. For example the notification bar is from this theme, but when in settings or any other menu, the font color and type is still from my previous theme.
Otherwise great work, thanks

I observed this as well during testing. I had flashed one of the other themes available to Cog3 and found that after applying my theme that certain things were still unchanged. This is due to the apps such as settings, dialer, browser and so forth were also themed by the developer. My theme only changes the framework and twframework files in the rom itself. Not in each individial app...for now.
Ahhhh, I see. So I'm guessing that flashing a fresh copy of Cog. 3.03 and applying your theme should work?
Thanks.

Cog2 uses JI6/JJ4 framework.
Cog3 is based of the Rogers 2.2 and uses JL1 framework. Other users tried to use my other GB theme on Cog3 and it didn't work. So I made one that would. Supply and demand is what will drive my themes mostly.

Which one of the Cog2 themes are you referring to? I know there are differences in the extended power menu and the status bar pull down. I'm not aware at anything else blatantly different. The reason behind the icons being different is that I didn't have new icons when I made for first two themes. If there is a request to update the old themes with the newer icons I will update them. Like I said before supply and demand.

Are you on CM9? ATM, I only have resources included in the CM9 framework-res, systemui, and keyboard themed. AOKP may not be fully themed, as well as other Roms not based on CM9. Patience, full AOKP is coming very soon.
If you are on CM9 and it's still blue, and you're inside the packages mentioned below (inside "Contains:", please let me know! (Screenshots are even better!!)
Redogen Bootanimation for XOOM (updated 20120612)
*download and copy to /data/local/, this is not included in the above theme, and is not a flashable .zip.
Do not copy to /system/media, that's just asking for trouble.

Contains:
framework-res
systemui
LatinIME (keyboard)
Optional: bootanimation [/data/local/]

Changelog
20120807 : Fixed incorrectly compiled issues for folks on hdpi screen res'. If you get an "incorrectly compiled" error, please see the above route to fix. If it still persists, please let me know.

20120612 : Updated the CM9 bootanimation to the current with Cid.
Archive : If you still want Redogen with skateboarding Andy, you can still download it here: http://goo.gl/2tnBe20120522 : Added even more resources, pulled all possibilities from the CM GitHub. This should now support all devices, xhdpi, hdpi, mdpi, etc. Please let me know if there is still issues with applying it.
20120516 : HDPI resources added from fw-res and SystemUI, should work with phones now. Please let me know if there's still issues.
20120514 : Now available via a Theme Chooser app. most elements are themed. Trying to keep up with the nightlies.
20120502 : EOS: Fixed some errors and added some images I missed. If you see anything else let me know.
20120501 : Added support for EOS 2.0.0. Settings issue is still persistent, so it is not a complete theme. Working on it.
20120410 : Reverted one file to fix settings FC. Included redogen bootanimation in /data/local/ (if you have a custom one, make a backup or remove from file before flash).
Awesome work! Can't wait for the EOS Version.
Is this going to get updated to the 2012/04/12 cm9 update? Thanks

EOS 2.0 0 out where's my themes????
Okay where's my red, green or gray???
EOS Stable 2 out Can we expect some bazar love????
The red theme was by far my favorite from the hammerhead and moray ROMs. Eager to have this on my EOS Xoom.
I'd be willing to buy beers (yes, plural) for yellow, should you ever find yourself with some spare cycles (yes, I am laughing!), but I know this stuff takes time and that is always at a premium.
Again, all the investment in the red and green themes is most certainly welcome from those of us who get to show off the results to all our jealous non-Xoom owners
Well I'm glad y'all have patiently waited, but you can now sorta celebrate... redICS has been ported for EOS 2.0.0, but is still a {WIP} (Work In Progress)... With more testing tonight I'll find more things I missed I'm sure, so bear with me. There is no settings bug because I decided (at the very last minute) to take it out since it was effecting apps not related to the Xoom... still more head scratching to do on that one. If you see any issues, please let me know.

Thanks for praise
Yellow... that'd be interesting to say the least lol. But, if time allows, I'll dip in and see what I can do. I believe I have a request for pink or purple from a little bit ago as well. And beers do sound nice Donations are always greatly appreciated.
I know, yellow is kinda odd, but purple would be sweet too! You earned the beers, so go and have some on me. Thanks again! Good to see your results running on my Xoom. Much appreciated!
I think orange would be beast here, lol if not just to be contrary. It'd fill that gap MIUI for tablets leaves...
Updated EOS tonight to fix some errors and missed images. Also fixed the bootanimation (not sure how that one sneaked past me). If you see anything else please let me know.
Also, CM shared they're getting the theme engine rocking, but is not in primetime yet, so themes for Rogue's CM9 will be much easier once it comes out and I get the hang of it.

I'll add orange to the list as well.
Any chance of adding a deep cobalt like blue to the list? Its a much nicer color than the ICS blue I think...
Working great....loving my red xoom, few blues still there but I can live with em lol......great job

Probably a dumb question but, if i have this theme with iammodos droidfont softkey mods the colors will different right? As in the rest will be red but his softkey theme will still be white because that was how they were made?
Thanks

If they SoftKey mod is flashed in recovery (and not with ZipThemer or MetaMorph, etc), then the SystemUI will probably be overwritten, and any changes that redICS makes will be overwritten by his mod, or vice versa (mine will overwrite his changes). I haven't tried the mod, so I can't say for sure ATM.
If it's a ZipThemer/MetaMorph mod, then flash redICS in recovery first, boot up and use the app to do the mod and his mod will overwrite only the files he has included in the mod (the softkeys).

will do, thanks
Flashed to EOS 2.0.0, applied redics, updated the edify, themed the softkeys with zipthemer then flashed in recovery, but didn't work. Same grayish white color. *shrugs* Oh well thanks anyways. Also I am on a LTE xoom and the theme seemed to be working fine, great work
/thanks for this going to try this out now
redICS updated to a Theme Chooser app for CM9 Nightlies! There will be issues or missing themed elements (They'll still be the stock blue), this is because of current limitations of the Theme Chooser; they're working on it tho. I will continue to develop this theme to add other apps and missing aspects of the theme. Any issues please let me know.
* I've added a test version for EOS Everest. I can't use that Rom properly, so if anyone wants to try it please let me know how it does. Please, please, PLEASE perform a nandroid backup prior to trying out the test theme, just in case.
*** Link fixed!!! (thanks uppon2)

AOKP/CM9 060712 Theme Chooser Dialer Animations + AOKP CWM Package

I put together a few animations to test out in the AOKP/CM9 Theme Chooser. They seem to be working fine and fun to goof off with...
Depending on the popularity I may be adding more or different styles of animations, just kinda want to test if it's usefull to anyone being applied through the theme chooser.
Tested in AOKP Only so if someone would be kind enough to let me know if this is working well with CM9 that would be great!
Ignore the missing asset warning and Apply anyway!
If the animation doesn't show up either force stop or kill the phone or contacts app.
Install just like any other theme chooser apk or app!
Shattering (mdpi,hdpi) http://d-h.st/WFS 361.17 KB
Lightning (hdpi) http://d-h.st/eQK 196.16 KB
Bubbles (hdpi) http://d-h.st/JGx 275.09 KB
Update:
Shattering_Glass_Dialer.apk - 556.00 KB - 05/29/12 (mdpi,hdpi,xhdpi)
Shattering_Puzzle_Dialer.apk - 766.41 KB - 05/29/12 (mdpi,hdpi,xhdpi)
Circuit_Dialer.apk - 604.14 KB - 06/02/12 (mdpi,hdpi,xhdpi)
Modified apk's:
AOKP Shattering Glass Dialer (Contacts.apk)(CWM Flashable) 1.98 MB
AOKP Shattering Puzzle Dialer (Contacts.apk)(CWM Flashable) 2.12 MB - 06/07/12
AOKP Circuit Dialer (Contacts.apk)(CWM Flashable) 2.08 MB - 06/07/12
All work great through theme Chooser in aokp. Only downside is that you can't use the animations with any other theme. I will proly need to learn how to put it all together so I can mix and match the parts I want from each theme...hahaha!

I've tried the lightning animation so far. I like it a lot on top of epic blue on AOKP. Thanks man.

I hear ya. I just figured most themes on this side would be in form of flashable zips, hence the theme chooser apk choice. Thanks!

Out of curiosity, if you try these on the new builds will you post back results.
sure
I tried all three of these on build 36, and it says they've been applied, however I notice no difference in my dialer? It is a dialer theme right? I must be missing something!!

I just noticed your signature. If your trying this in Tablet Mode if will surely bootloop you..
If you do try and a bootloop or problem occurs and you have access to a pc that has adb and all that setup.
From a prompt:
adb shell
cd /data/app
ls
Verify the name of the apk (should be: com.template.theme.YOURCHOICE_Dialer-1.apk)
YOURCHOICE is the one you downloaded and applied!
rm com.template.theme.YOURCHOICE_Dialer-1.apk
exit
adb reboot

It's a dialer animation. Just bash some numbers...
Shattering_Glass_Dialer.apk - 556.00 KB - 05/29/12 (mdpi,hdpi,xhdpi)
Shattering_Puzzle_Dialer.apk - 766.41 KB - 05/29/12 (mdpi,hdpi,xhdpi)
I updated the OP as well with these. They are all new images and have artwork for mdpi, hdpi & xhdpi. Much cleaner...
yeah i know about hybrid ui. found out the hard way..lol. I spend more time on 37. Have working knowledge of adb and all set up on my linux platform. downloading now ...gonna test and will post when i get off. thanks for the work!
EDIT: Confirmed both working on sammy fassy AOKP build 37. Cool mod...nice work!
What are the chances of getting this to work with other themes like cobalt, mixer, etc? Love the themes but it would be awesome if I could theme everything and not just the dialer. good job though awesome animations! I just use the rest of my phone way more than I use the dialer

If these other themes you mentioned are Theme Chooser apk's, the original author would have to include it. Otherwise the Contacts.apk would need to be modified directly.
Appreciate the thanks know50!
Added one more in OP too! Forgive me the preview pic is the same...
Circuit_Dialer.apk - 604.14 KB - 06/02/12 (mdpi,hdpi,xhdpi)
That one cool too...still like the shattered glass though. good work.

what would be the best way to mod the contacts.apk? Should I extract it then just add the theme files, rezip then rename to .apk put it back in system/framework/apps? Or should I extract whole ROM change some stuff then rezip and flash? Sorry for the noob questions but I've only just started with theme modding where I have to do it myself lol.
